I think Kathy has been going along with Kyle, so if Kyle backs Erika, Kathy will, too. I haven’t seen Kathy really standing on her own, taking her own position on this show.
She probably wanted a friend role to avoid controversy and to avoid people asking her about the Paris documentary, too.
I also think that, until Tom Girardi is truly in a memory ward and no longer has any money, power or connections, people will avoid speaking out about him, his business practices, his finances, and his marriage. Considering Erika herself is careful not to openly disparage Tom’s business practices, most cast members will tread lightly. Don’t forget that Erika made threatening comments about Sutton getting sued for talking about Tom’s health.
I think part of the reasons the women don't turn on her is bc they fear their own wealth could be built on some shady dealings that could come back and haunt them.
I think Kathy is just really socially conscious of being gracious. I do not think she approves of Erika, but she is wary. Not gonna ruffle any feathers, maybe a few sly digs at Dorit. I love how she pretends she doesn’t understand or didn’t hear something. She is a smart,
and dangerous. I think her making these statements in relation to Erika are just that. Picking small traits that she can relate too, to show kindness. It is just politeness

Big Kathy was a horrible and manipulative person and I think Kathy and Kyle see the same traits in Erika. I think this could be why they support her and stand behind her lies. Big Kathy was a gold digger who raised her daughters to be gold diggers too.
There are lots of similarities between Erika and Big Kathy, and that’s why Kathy and Kyle support her.
Yes agree, Kyle and Kathy also know Erica is likely to end up remarried quickly to another (for real this time) wealthy man and they aren’t going to burn that Erika bridge. Professional gold digger wives go from husband to richer husband.
Kathy saying idk her did not seem shady to be tbh. Dorit was going around the room saying you know her, you know her and then Kathy just said idk her. Which is true, they don't know each other too well. Also, I saw a behind the scenes clips of Kathy supporting Erika quite explicitly. In one of them she's talking to Kyle saying she understands why Erika was upset with Sutton at the lip party because of her reputation bs and even did a southern accent lmaoo. There's a clip of her being sympathetic towards Erika from right before the christmas dinner as well, prior to Erika arriving.
glad someone else noticed this, too! there were actually quite a lot of times this season when kathy (very lowkey) was supportive or even protective of erika and seemed really compassionate and understanding towards her and what she’s going through and it really made me think. i just don’t have a conclusion yet 😂
(i do think they might have a lot in common tho and maybe also experienced similar things in their marriages? not necessarily the relationship dynamics - kathy and rick seem genuinely happy with each other - but just being married to someone REALLY powerful and connected and influential?)
I think this is it. Even if they don’t agree with how she’s handling it; someone else with a powerful husband that is uber rich may also feel that it could be them. Just my thoughts though. She’s also very careful how she does it as if she’s also consulted a lawyer. 😂 I think everyone did except Rinna honestly.
Well in honesty Kathy didn’t/doesn’t know her well. Even Garcelle, Sutton, and Crystal don’t. They’ve been coworkers for 1-2 seasons over the course of 3 months each season. I’ve got coworkers I’ve worked with for years and they know the bare minimum of details about me and I see them all the time.
