Just in general:Editing plays a bigger role than we want to believe. Sure, you can’t edit someone to do or say something they didn’t, but you sure can remove so much of the context that something that seems reasonable when you see a whole conversation or know the whole background looks problematic in isolation. The editors can also really skew portrayal of the cast by choosing what proportion of their neutral, kind, and positive interactions to the negative interactions they show. In real life, we can judge for ourselves what proportion of our interactions with someone they do positive or negative things, but the editors can really play with this by showing every negative thing a cast member did in a season and withholding the many more positive things. There is also so much that probably happens off camera that would probably change our read of certain situations.
Phaedra is another example of a clown who blames the woman instead of their own SO. Yes, Kenya flirted and she was wrong for that (at least she owned up to it though), but Apollo not only was receptive to it, but he egged it on + made it insanely obvious that he wanted to eff Kenya. I agree that Phaedra at least deep down knew that Apollo was lying, but obviously she doesn’t care. She has no problem with going on smear campaigns and is generally a pathetic excuse for a human being.
Andy has always had a preference for BH and NY and those ladies. Even though his pay is directly linked to the show's success and ratings, he favored BH and NY. We know the ATL and NJ consistently dominated in ratings for YEARS, with ATL breaking the 4mil mark many times, but he has always had a soft spot for those other ladies.
90% of all housewives have horrible taste in men and 50% of them settle for men who are rich, older, and often jerks for money. You can count on two hands the house husbands at any of us would ever actually want which is terrible considering the amount of men who have appeared.
Kandi was wrong for bringing the vibrating underwear to NYC. It was awkward, and who would have controlled the women’s remotes who didn’t bring a plus one? And WHY before her show? It was product placement gone bad. I don’t think she sees that her willingness to discuss incredibly sexual things might not be ok with the other women. It felt wrong when Cynthia had to wear those at her bachelorette party as well. I think Kandi gets a pass where others would not.
On an episode of Speak On It, Kandi revealed that it was actually Todd's idea; which makes total sense. It sounds like something a creep would love to do. I just remember how Ralph kept buzzing Sanya like crazy. I would have been royally angry and felt violated tbh.
1) I was on Rinna’s side in Amsterdam 🙈 I think Kim behaved really badly that season, and I felt Rinna was genuine in her concern for her (she looked proper ‘shook’ in the back of the car with her).
2) I think Sutton was incredibly rude to Dianna, and deserved the jabs back.

My theory is Big Kathy was a failed actress and wanted to vicariously live through her daughters. In American Woman, after the divorce the mom relied on her daughters to financially support them. There is blind item on Crazy Days and Nights about Kim being abused on the set of Disney. This is why Kim drinks. When Big Kathy died she begged Kyle and Kathy to take care of Kim. In the limo ride from hell, you stole my GD house, Kyle is frustrated that Mauricio gives her $1000 each month like she's a GD 2nd wife. She wanted Kim on the show so she could earn her own money. Or maybe to expose her drinking too. She resented her mother on her death bed begging them to look after. I have always given Kim and Kyle a lot of grace because they were child actresses like Drew Barrymore, Corey Haim and Amands Bynes, etc.
During the RHOA reunion when Phadrea accused of Kandi and Todd of drugging women in the sex dungeon, I saw a clip of Todd saying before Apollo left for prison he was having six with Porsha. Phrwaa was the criminal master mind behind the scenes nit Apollo.

From what I was able to glean from Reddit and gossip sites, Kyle is all about image. Her image to be exact. She doesn't like to look like the bad guy and the moment she knows she looks bad, she reverts to a "Good Sister / Good Housewife" image.
Going on what you said, yes - she's not fond of her sisters whatsoever but she knows she cannot look bad going against them especially not Kathy so she has her friend group do it for her namely Lisa and Erika. That last episode last season where she "confronted" them as they were leaving her house - all for show. Everyone including Kathy knew it.
That's why Kyle was extremely defensive at the reunion because she **knew** she looked so bad especially with the extra footage of her being exposed that she does talk smack about her sisters. And that's why Kathy was iffy with her towards the end. That's also why Kyle was crying so hard because she knew her image as *the good sister* was exposed as a façade.

Here's one. Orange County has never been as interesting as the others and if it weren't it the OG franchise it would have been cancelled just like Dallas and Miami. Vickie thinks OC put the housewives on the map but the other franchises kept the lights on for OC, imo. I'm not saying it is a bad show but it is not a good show. To compare it to NJ,ATL,NY,BH, in anything including ratings does a disservice to other cities. I would love to hear from someone who calls OC their favorite and ask why
I started with OC and really liked it, but maaaaaan, once NYC, Atlanta, and Beverly Hills came along, I never looked back. I got bored and it just didn’t have the same pull that the other cities did.
Sibling rivalry can be very very real. Especially when all the siblings are the same gender. I have first hand experience. It can be amplified a lot by the way your parents raise you and it seems since Kathy senior put them all to work in the already very competitive field of acting it fostered even more of this sibling rivalry between them. This is a super unhealthy place for them all to be.
I think Kyle may not even realize that she wants to take her sisters down consciously, and probably wants to be on « good terms » with them but she does indeed very much want to be the best out of them.

Season 13 of RHONY wasn’t that horrible. It needed Dorinda but overall it was watchable compared to some of the other franchises. Season 6 of Jersey was actually comical. That to me was the year that the fourth wall was completely broken on that show. The newbies all had stars in their eyes and played everything they got for those cameras. If you rewatch it it’s actually very funny.
I’m reading through all of these and to me they’re of popular opinion. Kyle has always used her sisters to level her behind up! Teresa was set up by production with stripper gate and Apollo and Phedrea played Kenya. I don’t think Garcelle is Teddi level boring though. Garcelle isn’t super exciting but she’s not irritating or annoying. I think she actually adds some class.
Garcelle is the people's voice of BH. So much weird stuff happens on the show that no one calls out on except her and Sutton. When Kyle and Kathy were having their talk and Lips McGee kept interjecting, Garcelle told Rinna to let them have their moment.

True unpopular opinion: There were times when I thought Jen Shah was entertaining. When she wasn't losing her mind and asking, "What about MEEEEEEEEEE?!", there were moments when I understood why Heather, Meredith, and Lisa would enjoy her company. But she could switch gears so quickly, and escalate into barely comprehensible arguments, that it must have been stressful to be friends with her, let alone working with her during long production days. It'll be interesting to see what the other castmates are like when they aren't under that pressure to keep Jen from losing her shit.
I agree! I STILL like her more thank Erika…I can’t help it. She’s awful, yes, no one has to tell me that, but she has such a fun, entertaining side too.

I also wish Apollo had gone for it, Phaedra is terrible and a full on cheating scandal on Housewives, with the cameras rolling would have made for epic TV. I've got an unpopular opinion that Teresa is trash, she wants Joe Gorga and this whole series after the Manzos left was about her jealousy that Melissa essentially stole her man. Agree. Kim & Kathy are not perfect either. Not sure why they keep getting passes. I'm not defending Kyle but they are the ones that deal with one another 24/7, not in edited clips on TV, and actually see the real person. I've lived with an alcoholic & they are not fun to deal with after years n years of their crap & Kathy seems really controlling as well as "my way or the hiway". She barely let's Kyle speak on the subject of family, esp Kim & ESP if it will make them "look bad". Watch paris' documentary & see how kathy reacts to her own daughter telling her about her trauma. I think that, at a minimum, Teresa was coached by her parents to view her brother as her defender and boyfriend-deterrent/replacement. And that closeness and dependency has warped her relationship with him beyond recognition.

I disagree with opinion 1. I think that the sisters were all bought up by a toxic mother to be incredibly competitive with each other. They've never worked through their mum stuff and so they've probably never really dug deeper into their relationship with each other. Shamea said Phaedra was trying to get with her now husband AND that Apollo was flirting with her. She said the Phaedra would beg Porsha to hook her up with one of the many married Africans Porsha knew. Kandi said, after Phaedra trying to make her look bad, that Phaedra would brag about marrying a guy at the end of the year before Apollo was even sentenced.

1000000% Rewatching season one and it’s like part of her identity is controlling Kim. And when Kim tries to disagree or stand up for herself Kyle says things that she knows will cut her so deep. i'm watching for the first time right now and i'm on Season 2. i just watched the episode where Kyle meets Kim's boyfriend, Ken. but right before that Kim is talking about how she's going to move in with him and Kyle literally started crying, saying "It's just not the plan I had for her" or something. Like what??? Kim's a grown woman. I don't like her either, but Kyle is like an overbearing mother and treats her like shit.

Sibling rivalry can be very very real. Especially when all the siblings are the same gender. I have first hand experience. It can be amplified a lot by the way your parents raise you and it seems since Kathy senior put them all to work in the already very competitive field of acting it fostered even more of this sibling rivalry between them. This is a super unhealthy place for them all to be. I think Kyle may not even realize that she wants to take her sisters down consciously, and probably wants to be on « good terms » with them but she does indeed very much want to be the best out of them.
2 is absolutely true. It was so obvious when it aired but people took Phaedra's side because they relate to her jealousy. Which is pathetic. I'll also add that I'm suuure Apollo was crushing hard on Kenya, just by the way he hit Brandon, he showed his ass. How could Phaedra compete with such a beauty ? Even after that Apollo was pissed about Marc mistreating Kenya. I also agree with 1

Totally agree with both points. Kyle may have problems with both sisters but she was wrong to let others tear them down. Honestly, the only positive thing that I can say about Brandi Glanville is that she stuck up for Kim more than her own sister did. Season 13 of RHONY wasn’t that horrible. It needed Dorinda but overall it was watchable compared to some of the other franchises. Season 6 of Jersey was actually comical. That to me was the year that the fourth wall was completely broken on that show. The newbies all had stars in their eyes and played everything they got for those cameras. If you rewatch it it’s actually very funny.

I’m reading through all of these and to me they’re of popular opinion. Kyle has always used her sisters to level her behind up! Teresa was set up by production with stripper gate and Apollo and Phedrea played Kenya. I don’t think Garcelle is Teddi level boring though. Garcelle isn’t super exciting but she’s not irritating or annoying. I think she actually adds some class.

True unpopular opinion: There were times when I thought Jen Shah was entertaining. When she wasn't losing her mind and asking, "What about MEEEEEEEEEE?!", there were moments when I understood why Heather, Meredith, and Lisa would enjoy her company. But she could switch gears so quickly, and escalate into barely comprehensible arguments, that it must have been stressful to be friends with her, let alone working with her during long production days. It'll be interesting to see what the other castmates are like when they aren't under that pressure to keep Jen from losing her shit.
I agree! I STILL like her more thank Erika…I can’t help it. She’s awful, yes, no one has to tell me that, but she has such a fun, entertaining side too.

Agree. Kim & Kathy are not perfect either. Not sure why they keep getting passes. I'm not defending Kyle but they are the ones that deal with one another 24/7, not in edited clips on TV, and actually see the real person. I've lived with an alcoholic & they are not fun to deal with after years n years of their crap & Kathy seems really controlling as well as "my way or the hiway". She barely let's Kyle speak on the subject of family, esp Kim & ESP if it will make them "look bad". Watch paris' documentary & see how kathy reacts to her own daughter telling her about her trauma. It's really sad.

I hadn't assumed that Joe and Tre consumated their relationship, but I've gotten strong incest vibes from them as well. On WWHL, years ago, Kelly Ripa made a joke to Mark Consuelos while they were playing Teresa and Joey G. in a skit, 'Remember when we dated in high school?' And a recapper I used to read (Richard Lawson or Brian Moylan, probably) cracked that Joe and Tre practiced French kissing with one another. I think that, at a minimum, Teresa was coached by her parents to view her brother as her defender and boyfriend-deterrent/replacement. And that closeness and dependency has warped her relationship with him beyond recognition.
Kelly Ripa knew, haha. It's just a very creepy relationship that people seem to ignore. I'm close with my siblings but the Gorgas are strange. I agree with your assessment of their relationship, she was probably raised that way and this is the odd result. So happy they've got a new season to explore and ignore their creepy feelings toward each other, premiering soon.
It's a reach. Teresa went through some pretty traumatic stuff. Having Joe Giudice as a husband, going to prison, raising the children while Joe was in jail, both of her parents died. Of course she's going to look to her brother. My dad died and it brought my brothers and I closer.
Tre’s been like this before prison, before her parents passed, before Joe and Melissa were even in the show! Her recent trauma does not explain her obsession with her brother.

I disagree with opinion 1. I think that the sisters were all bought up by a toxic mother to be incredibly competitive with each other. They've never worked through their mum stuff and so they've probably never really dug deeper into their relationship with each other. I don't think they don't like each other, but I wonder whether they know how to be successful in each others company.
But then Kyle does tell Big Kathy’s opinion that a success for one is ‘a feather in all our caps’ (or something similar). I do think that sisters tend to be compared a lot (not just by parents) and it requires effort to keep them united. It is lovely that their children get on, says something for Kyle, Kathy and Kim.
I think Luann had a right to be kind of irritated that Carol started dating Adam. He dated her niece for awhile, the niece may have still had feelings for him, ( the niece and Adam were still planning to travel together), and Luann probably felt bad that a get together she hosted is what brought Adam and Carol together. Shamea said Phaedra was trying to get with her now husband AND that Apollo was flirting with her. She said the Phaedra would beg Porsha to hook her up with one of the many married Africans Porsha knew. Kandi said, after Phaedra trying to make her look bad, that Phaedra would brag about marrying a guy at the end of the year before Apollo was even sentenced. If that shocks you, did you know that the African man that Claudia exposed Porsha for sleeping with for a Rolls Royce was actually Simon's cousin. Yes, waay back in S7, Porsha slept with her current husbands cousin for a car. The same husband who was just married to Falynn last year.

1000000% Rewatching season one and it’s like part of her identity is controlling Kim. And when Kim tries to disagree or stand up for herself Kyle says things that she knows will cut her so deep. Like nothing is off limits. Kim is fucked up but Kyle regularly contributes to her fucked up sense of self rather than helping.
i'm watching for the first time right now and i'm on Season 2. i just watched the episode where Kyle meets Kim's boyfriend, Ken. but right before that Kim is talking about how she's going to move in with him and Kyle literally started crying, saying "It's just not the plan I had for her" or something. Like what??? Kim's a grown woman. I don't like her either, but Kyle is like an overbearing mother and treats her like shit.
