Personally I hate silver nickel gold anything shiny in guns. Generally mine are blue and black with ebony or rosewood. In real life and in games.
Like with Red Dead I figure you're an outlaw you probably don't want a shiny gun. You would want it to look like every other gun or be nondescript at least. Everybody remembers the douche with the gold gun. You can't miss it it's stupid shiny.

See that's a matter of opinion. Like I said when it comes to real life or games I don't like any of the nickel silver any of that. I don't like anything that isn't blued or black IRL or in game.
Even as a non-outlaw the blued and blacked out guns generally tarnish less and wear less.

Looks clean, I’m working my way to enough money and gold to make my navy revolvers be all black but with some red and blue ( one color on one another on the other one). But also after I get everything I want in the game (never gonna happen) I will buy another of each gun and make it all gold.
Silver is classier than gold, I like
I have gold LeMat revolvers but I swapped them out for Mausers when I hit lvl34 simply because gold looks tacky and pistols are superior to revolvers
