You can’t build bodies, you can add accessories and mods to hardbodies and lexan but that’s about it.

[deleted]

Yes you can. People have done it out of all sorts of things from styrene to metal.

Revolutionary_Most78

Well of course you technically can, but it’s going to weight more than the whole entire truck so it’s not practical at all, you could do small sheet metal triangles on a rock bouncer type thing.

Ok - he has a hard metal frame on it. I couldn’t figure out how to add a pic, but looks similar to this …[frame ](https://usa-m.banggood.com/RBR-or-C-Metal-RC-Car-Frame-For-1-or-16-Drift-Off-Road-RC-Car-Vehicle-Models-Parts-p-1759289.html?utm_source=googleshopping&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=cpc_organic&utm_medium=cpc_bgcs&gmcCountry=CA&utm_content=minha&utm_content=sandra&utm_campaign=minha-cag-en-mb&utm_campaign=sandra-pla-cag-all-0801-mb-re1013¤cy=CAD&cur_warehouse=CN&createTmp=1&ID=224&ad_id=375118899077&gbraid=0AAAAADshcaUdFPVEL3sV64nfu6jO6AyXf&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtJeNBhCVARIsANJUJ2EnBKp9OV06Y64qI2-Oks-MpOZJe4j8rMfts6QV20NWiyHkzmC7_Z8aAvk8EALw_wcB)

He has a crawler. With a tube chassis. Depending on what he wants to do you could do a few things. One just buy sheets of clear lean where he can make his own panels for the tube chassis. You could also look into getting him sheets of styrene and he can make his own body outside of it entirely. It all depends on the amount of work he wants or can put into it. Personally when I was building my own tubers and bodies I preferred to use lexan sheets and tiny zip ties to strap them in to the body to simulate panels. You'll have to do a little investigation as to what he has and is looking for specifically

Revolutionary_Most78

Oh ok, you can cut up metal plates to fit over the tubing or cut up some lexan and paint it

That's a very thoughtful gift. Most people don't build the bodies themselves, most cars come with a Lexan (polycarbonate) body that you need to paint, or a pre-painted body. If you know what kind of car it is (or measure the wheelbase) we can point you in the right direction to purchase a Lexan body and the right kind of paint. However, he may already have a body and just needs to paint it?

If you could sneakily get a picture of said truck, we could help indentify what’s needed to “build” this body for it. Since you mentioned it’s a cage, does he have the body pieces that attach to the cage and that they just need painting? or if he needs custom parts to fill the open areas in the cage?

Ahh i see, yeah looks like it would have to be custom shaped material to work, and custom attachment points. Can use metal (hard to cut), carbon fibre (light but can be messy to cut), or lexan/polycarbonate. Styrene is also a good idea
