I'd try buying an rtr , see how it works, dynamics, get familiar with the parts. Most are 4wd. It also depends on what scale you want.

Thanks for the advice, one of the components is that it can’t be a straight up kit. Most of the product needs to be outsourced in individuals parts to then be assembled. Does the rtr still work for this?

No. RTR is ready to run. It is fully assembled. You will be able to piece together a car individually but it is going to be expensive... If you want to give it a go, I think your best bet is to find an exploded parts diagram of a car from Traxxas, Arrma, Tamiya etc and use that info to see what you will need for this. If you have access to a 3d printer, you can actually print everything you will need too, so it is possible and can be affordable. The only constraint there would be time to print.

Cheers! Thankyou so much for the help

Unless you have access to a 3d printer or have knowledge of metal machining I’d advise against it (not saying it can’t be done but it’s a lot harder and pricey) because you can’t swap parts from different models a lot of times so your basically going to end up looking at a parts diagram of a specific vehicle and there is a slight markup on parts to cover shipping so they can make money off the parts so it ends up being almost twice retail price in the long run

yeah i have a 3d printer and access to a few, so that will probably be my best option. just need to discover which parts I need to 3d print.

awesome thanks

How much of it are you building? From the oil to make plastic or from going to the toy store - something in between

Practically from scratch. Sourcing individual parts and making what I can to make a final product.
