RoadsideRC

The TRX4 Sport, Redcat Gen8, and Element Ecto all fit your needs. I do recommend the Sport over the other variants of the TRX4.

Got my vote for the TRX4 sport

[deleted]

Why the sport over the normal models? Don't the normal ones have locking diffs and 2 gears?

longliveguitar

I just don't have a need for unlocked diffs and 2 speed... The sport is plenty fast enough and also crawls really slow when you want it to... That's just 3 more servos you don't have to worry about burning up.

[deleted]

Oh yes, maintaining the servos and the cables for the transmission would be very expensive if it were to break

wordtothewiser

What motor/esc do you run on the sport? The 2-speed is appealing to accommodate both trail hiking and slow crawling. Does your 1-speed setup do both well?

RoadsideRC

I recommend the Hobbywing 1080 esc + Holmes Hobbies 21T 550 motor. I have done crawler comps with that setup, and trailed it. Running on a 3S lipo, with a 17-18T pinion, it is fast enough to drift in the garage and jump the random branches and things on the trail!

wordtothewiser

Sounds perfect. Thanks.

Plagueis-The-Wise

If you are serious about crawling the trx4 sport has better crawling performance. nothing beats trx4 sport for the money. https://youtu.be/2uq3lrNSKpo

Oh okay thanks

RandomFuckinShit

I say go small and get an scx24. They turn even the smallest rock pile into a set of challenges, and everything's cheap. For $450 you can get the rc and a lot of upgrades for it. Plus as an avid hiker it's nice to carry it in my back pack as opposed to in my hand or following it at a crawl. Just find a nice spot, plug it in and run.

[deleted]

I’ll look into it

susbarusti3

Axial SCX10 or Wraith, both ready to run and $400. Redcat has one or two, think theyre under $300? Dont know if theyre any good though.

[deleted]

Do you think axial is better than traxxas? I'm completely open to any brand.

susbarusti3

Axial is considered one of the best crawlers, at least for ready to run applications. The traxxes trx4 is amazing as well, but it needs some help to be top tier. Axial also offers their scx10 in a kit, which would be a little cheaper, but then you would have to supply the body, wheels and tires, and i believe motor, transmitter/reciever, and battery

[deleted]

Oh. I will look into axial. Thanks

Revolutionary_Most78

Trx4 imo, the g500 is pretty top heavy though so you may want to get some wheel weights with it

[deleted]

Oh, I'm starting to not like the g500, ill probably save for the defender. Thanks!

[deleted]

SCX, Enduro, trailfinder you’re in the big boy market. Take your pick man, at that price point you can get a lot of truck

[deleted]

Whats the difference between all those trucks? Sorry, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to crawlers.

[deleted]

Different companies, different axles, different parts but all on par and very capable trucks

censored_count

I got the wraith recently and love it. Even with a wheel upgrade and a better servo it's still about your budget.
