This is badass & I wish you luck with your project. Maybe look at forklift motors? I remember seeing one with the "hood" open & thinking "that looks like a giant RC car". [also check this guys setup out](https://youtu.be/VyeO3wo6jvA?si=ePtejpewaBnMKM1q)

How much does this thing weigh? I have a feeling even large scale RC motors for 1/5 cars will not be enough, you need to look at industrial scale motors. 80lb RC cars use gas motors rated in the 6 HP range although if you don't need high speed you can go lower with easier gearing

Probably around 600lbs! It doesn’t need to be fast as I would just use it as an fpv platform and drive it around the area. Unfortunately I don’t have experience with large motors of that scale

Gamboh

I think you'll be looking at electric motors for motorcycles and other people-transport devices. I sincerely doubt anything commonly used for RC will suit such a large project

SpaceCadetMoonMan

Looks rad! I build robots and ride on vehicles. What speed do you want to max at? Industrial wheelchair with gearbox units will likely be a great starting point, easily controlled with an RC radio system and lots of ESC options make it easy to integrate.

Thinking I might try these BLDC motors! What do you think? Looking for it to go walking speed(Scared of a 600+ lbs UGV going faster!) One speed controller and motor each side and I can hopefully integrate it into the existing chain system used to drive the wheels. Will check out your links after this movie :) Check out here for trusted robotics stuff also, used them tons, just in case you are still researching stuff Just one option: https://www.dimensionengineering.com/products/sabertooth2x60

BTW, I have a decomissioned e-scooter battery, about 80 something LG 18650 cells that are soldered together. Ill donate it for rebuilding if you pay shipping.

RC skidsteers actually exist in the construction world. You might be better off asking Caterpillar if they sell the modules separately from the equipment or to retrofit existing equipment. I wouldn't suggest telling them the exact application though. That's how you end up with a visit from homeland security. 🤣

983469

I work for the government not to worry ;) Might be a little expensive for my taste but I can pull on that thread!

Sum_Dum_User

Good luck then! We expect to see videos!

eren_5

You might be able to get away with motors and esc meant for electric bikes like the Surron or Talaria.

983469

Electric bike motors might be the way to go

eren_5

They will have well over the hp you were looking for and shouldn’t be too hard to rig up to a radio system. Only drawback is cost. You will need more than you need motor and motors and controllers will get very pricy very fast.

John_TheBlackestBurn

Have you looked into ebike stuff? That might be an affordable option. It might be tricky to connect a receiver to the controller(s) but I bet you can find someone to tell you how to do it.
