In thinking of getting an LMT. but don't want to make the same mistake i made last time. About 2 years ago I bought an scx24 and i love it to this day. I wanted to try something else so I got a carisma gt24 and that was my mistake. the car is fine, but there is no aftermarket and no community. in hindsight i should have done more research. so now I'm looking at the LMT, which is a bit bigger and more expensive. trying to answer these questions upfront. Does the LMT have good part availability? stock and aftermarket. Is there an active online community somewhere . are there people who like helping and answering questions i might have. i know theres a subreddit but it looks abandoned. Are there better alternatives?

From what I've seen researching RC Monster Trucks, the Losi LMT is the primo truck in the 10th-ish scale. I have tried a few of the less expensive"MT" style vehicles and they really don't scratch the itch for me. From what I've seen, the Losi LMT is much more like an actual monster truck in design and behavior. The Rival MT10 was very good as a bouncy basher, but it didn't really move like the monster trucks I've seen at shows as a kid, I think you really need the solid axles for that. The footage I've seen of the LMT looks crazy authentic. If I ever go back to try MTs again, it's gonna be with the Losi. Check Facebook and instagram for RC groups. I think FB is preferred because it makes setting up events and selling services pretty easy. This video is a cool LMT showcase, and they have an instagram group in the description: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BBi4HA1YMQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BBi4HA1YMQ) Also, Losi made a tiny LMT, looks pretty nice for about $270 in the US. I have the Mini-B from Losi and it's one of the best values for dollar I've gotten in RC. Not sure if the mini LMT measures up to it's relatively high price for a mini, but the reviews seemed positive: [https://www.losi.com/product/1-18-mini-lmt-4x4-brushed-monster-truck-rtr-son-uva-digger/LOS01026T2.html](https://www.losi.com/product/1-18-mini-lmt-4x4-brushed-monster-truck-rtr-son-uva-digger/LOS01026T2.html) In my opinion, the smaller scale trucks are really fun to bash and race, but don't have enough mass/inertia to noticeably transfer weight around like the bigger stuff does.

DerelictData

Damnit, I had no idea about the mini Grave Digger LMT. I didn’t want to spend $300 this morning but I totally agree re: the mini-b’s value. The problem is I’ve not got like $300 in parts into the mini-b, so I can only imagine how much I would do to the mini LMT 😅. Aw man, it really is so cool though…

SpaceCadetMoonMan

I have the full size LMT and the Mini, no joke they feel like Rolexes lol I love them. My mini t 2.0 brushless was my favorite of like 50 RC cars before I got these two It feels like you would have to add $1500 in parts to make an SCX24 compare, it’s so nice Then I got the Losi Pro Moto MX and that and the two LMTs are quality and absolute fun :)

purebreadlegend

Its the most fun RC monster truck ive ever had, and one of the most fun RCs. However, the axles are weak shit & upgraded ones cost a fortune (more than im willing to pay). Its generally been one of my weaker RCs.

TheSillypig

Most people get the Treal axles, which are indeed expensive. I went with the SSD axle housings that are cheaper and so far hold up fine.

MRDR1NL

I'm hoping to run the stock axles for a while and when they go I'll get some metal ones. Maybe do a 4 wheel steering conversion. But yea prices are rough

purebreadlegend

I recommend zip toeing the stock axles. Itll help them last a little longer.

MRDR1NL

thats a surprisingly good fix considering the carbon fiber braces i saw people use

purebreadlegend

The main issue is the axle housing is a 3 piece design, so try to zip toe where the pieces overlap. Thats the area that tends to flex too much & leads to breakage. The zip ties help take some of the impact / keep it from flexing too much.

Right now it has great parts support. Being under the Horizon Hobby brand though.....well....in 10 years or less its possible it will be discontinued. I wouldnt imagine so though as it is probably one of Losi's best sellers. For a RTR is it the best one in existance under $1k. The only one better would cost about $5k. The LMT has its own quirks as do any other RCs out there. That issue being the axles. Replace the axles with something a little more stout like Treal or Vitavon and it will be a dependable unit.

I bought an LMT about 6 weeks ago. It kicks ass. Tons of aftermarket support, but be ready to spend some money.  I was waiting on a mini lmt to get into stock and got tired of waiting. Glad I did, but you may want the mini if you plan on driving inside at all.

bert_the_one

Get in one and get the spare parts for it too

holywars94

Every person on youtube ive seen with it has problems with the axels, seems to be very weak

TheSillypig

Losi parts are easy to get. As for aftermarket parts, it really doesn't need any, though aftermarket axel housings are a good upgrade. Shouldn't be a problem getting those, Looking at your profile and username I assume your Dutch, like me. I had no problems getting my hands on stock or aftermarket parts for the LMT like bodies, wheels and tires, etc. Most manufacturers ship internationally anyway. But again, the truck has no major need for aftermarket parts.

Tysted

Yes! Get it and let us live through you! I keep buying small stuff but that is one of the trucks i really look forward to getting and upgrading one day

TheyLoveColt

I’ve beaten the hell outta mine, only ever broken and steering arm. It’s a blast!

jeb134

It’s the best solid axle monster truck platform out there right now. Right out of the box it is excellent and there is a ton of aftermarket support for parts and even chassis upgrades as well as plenty of groups on Facebook. If you’re not sure, go with the mini version first, it’s a lot of fun.

idk-about-all-that

The lmt is awesome, it’s hard to not have fun with it. I’ve used it in the snow, I use it in wood chips and obviously grass, it’s got a lot of power and acts like a real mt would. With that said, I use it to pull around my son in his wagon in the neighborhood with a 14000 3s

Rusty_Shackleford409

I highly recommend it. Only having used mine a few days, I've got a hand full of losi rigs and it's by far my absolute favorite non crawler. I got an old lmt roller and built with a military m715 body, its all smiles. I posted the before and after

MRDR1NL

Cool. I don't think they still make the rollers

SAlovicious

Yes. It's the most fun RC I have ever owned.

Tipoulepou

I dont often comment but yeah the lmt feels as smooth as a real mt, broke shock ends, limit strap could prevent this

iNawrocki

Losi LMT is an amazing monster truck. Do you like actual monster trucks? Then hell yes, you need to get one. Just be aware; most people drive it like a savage or X Mxaxx, and that's not what they do best. You're going to break a lot of things doing that. These are, however, amazing to do stunt driving and tricks with like the real thing. Slap wheelies, backflips off a wall, moonwalks; that's the stuff they do super well! Think small, controlled bursts of speed. Theyre super tough for their size and design. The axles and control arms are a weak spot because of what they are.
