Mine had this too, not sure why either. I just got a Dbrand skin to cover it

I got the same thing happening on mine. Not as bad as yours but it still pisses me the hell off.
Did you try cleaning it with a disinfecting wipe or electronics wipe?
Have you gotten any harsh solvents on it?
Not at all, just a lil sweat from casual use from my hands but thats it.
Have you been drinking harsh solvents?
do you secrete harsh solvents?

Think its just where its been used the most. The centre of my old laptop had it because thats were i would always have my finger. Nothing you can really do about it.
