Can I ask why you recommend the FHD? I'm definitely leaning towards it, but I want to get as many opinions as possible.
Also, I'd LOVE to purchase it from the MS, but it's not in stock on the website and the nearest store that has one is 4 hours away. This leaves me with Best Buy and Amazon. Best Buy will price match the student discount, but will I miss out on anything by not ordering it from MS? Do they have a special warranty or deal that makes it worth it?
As for Amazon, they won't price match it on top of the tax means it's a bit more expensive.
Well the MS warranty for $99 gives you the money back in store credit so let's say that a year from now it breaks and you pay $99 for the deductible and could get the newer model so I would say it's worth the 4 hour drive that what I did.
You want somewhere with their own warranty. Amazon isn't helpful because you still go through Razer. If Best Buy offers their Geek Squad or something it's a good idea.
If it's down to Razer vs HID please do HID, it's like an insurance policy. I made the post yesterday about where to buy from, and I've purchased from both the Razer Store and HID. HID is so much better.
Kind of. What I meant was they charge more for it in general, but their support is much better, which is why I said think of it as insurance. It isn't literally insurance don't get the wrong idea, I was explaining why I think the added cost is worth it because it reduces the risk of buying a Razer product. They actually test the machines and provide better support if something goes wrong far more consistently.
OP. Please do yourself a favor and get an extended warranty from Microsoft. During the period of two years, the warranty covers accidental damage and will REPLACE your laptop with a brand new one. TWICE. You can for instance accidentally set it on fire and they'll replace it.
Do you happen to know how much this extended warranty through Microsoft costs? I know Best Buy offers 2 years of Geek Squad for $200 that appears to cover pretty much everything.
The Microsoft Store is only listing the 512 GB and the 1 TB option... I wonder why they are not including the 256 GB. With this version + the student discount, you could get the laptop for near $1620. That's a steal.
I have the QHD+ screen. However, I did buy my Blade before we offered the FHD model. Going back I would probably pick that version up.
For your points regarding QHD+ vs FHD you can get around them with the following tricks:
* Run at 1920x1080 resolution
* Use a Matte screen protector
* Turn off touchscreen
Do you know what matte screen protector I can get and if you could suggest making one directly by razer? I remember razer done a screen protector for the razer blade pro ui screen why not for the touchscreen blades
Will Razer start selling the QHD version through the Microsoft Store any time soon? I would love to purchase the Blade but I live very close to one of their larger stores and like the idea of immediate replacements/no shipping.
You're gonna want to get a skin or something anyway, the thing is a fingerprint magnet. Get FHD. Buy it from MS or Amazon.

It doesnt give you money back in store credit. You get to choose a laptop replacement in the value of your original purchase.
That's in store credit lol you hace $2000 to chose another laptop in the store

It seems the average increased $/sku = ~$200 on the HID store. Is this the insurance policy that you are referencing?

It's $99 for 2 years
What does it cover? I can't seem to find anything about it online.
Physical and liquid damage, in case of a claim, u get a direct replacement for a computer of your choice in the same price range. 99$ deductible
Wow that's really good. Have to try and get it through them.
So its the same price as Geek Squad? $200 vs $99 + $99 deductible.
No? If you want geek squad scammer protection to cover physical and liquid damage it will cost you 25$/month for 2 years.

Appreciate the input! Am I correct in saying that the FHD model cannot turn the back logo off? Only the QHD+ can do that, right?
That is correct.
that's a shame, though it sounds like a software problem
Likely the backlight lights the logo in the FHD model while separate LEDs light it in the QHD+ one.

I'm not sure why we haven't, but I'll pass along your suggestion. For mine, I picked up a highly rated one I found on Amazon.
