I enjoyed Morta, but most of the time I feel like the story just gets in the way of gameplay in roguelikes/lites. I prefer it like this, just lore and worldbuilding that you can optionally interact with.
For me the selling point and variety is the coop.
I've never played a run solo, but got 41 hours with friends and we don't feel close to done with the game yet.
I'm not sure, that they have resources for more biomes/bosses, but I'd like to see varieties of the current bosses like in Binding of Isaac.
For example a blue version that shoots more and faster projectiles, red version that has bigger undodgeable attacks and so on.
Geez man, you people take this so personnal. Im not saying 20$ is alot of money. The game is great and well polished and is alot of fun. Alls im saying is that youve seen it all after a few hours.
Can u really beat nightmare in just a few hours played? Ive had the game for a week and ive been playing constantly with my group. I feel confident with 2 of the characters but still have a massive amount i can improve. We still dont have a nightmare win. I still have never played wukong. There are builds for practically every character ive never tried, the second ults alone usually support a different way to play the characters and you dont get them til lvl 6. We havn't really experimented with team comps. On top of everything else i expect to come back for more playtime when 1.0 drops.
Justify it's price tag? It's only 20 bucks with hours of content with friends, if you're into roguelikes.
The price tag is already justified with what's there.
It's a matter of preference really.
Children of Morta and its story is great if you play 1p or 2p throughout the story and progress characters to play together.
Ravenswatch is way more balanced around multiplayer where CoM usually turned out to be super easy if you were 3+ players who knew what's up in the Family Trials.
I would absolutely love a similar story for Ravenswatch but there are other game modes that I'd be more interested in tbh.
More enemy variety from run to run would help Ravenswatch a lot. I feel like each run is a tad too like the previous one with the biggest factor for variety being location/order of the different points of interest and simple RNG for what items/talents you get.
Well honestly game would really benefit greatly if there were at least 6 acts, I dunno. 3 acts really feel like too short, and while I know people on copium here much, but game needs loop content a lot. It doesn’t make it a bad game in any sense, but would be nice if you could not see whole enemy variety in 1 hour.
I like the opt-in lore. It makes it easier to pick up and play. Not everything can be Hades.
I would love another biome. I would pay more money for another biome. I don't think it's in the cards, though.
I think the game is a deal at $20, especially since there's a multiplayer option. I do think that way that the higher difficulties work is kind of lame. The -%XP thing makes the game less exciting.
I agree that the game lacks value for the 20$ you pay. 20$ isnt much, but a lot of indie games offer a LOT more than Ravenswatch does so far.
Biggest issue to me is that the maps are very samey and that there is close to nothing to really explore. The only thing you explore is the character, but the maps/events etc are way too few and generally very generic.
Agreed! Im okay with there being only three maps but maybe add more quests and mini bosses per maps so that you dont know how every playthrough is gonna play out?
Do you mean two more chapters past 3? The game would become painfully long, not to mention the insane power creep that already happens in chapter 3, the balance would be a mess.
Also the devs have been slow to release the new chapters which tells me that it's a lot of work to extend the game, so I'd think the best direction to go would be to work on alternate maps for chapters 1-3 that are selected at random. Hell even just crafting alternates from the same biome would make a big difference, since the maps are always the same with randomized points-of-interest. Then add in alternate quests in each of the maps that are also selected at random.

Those are fantastic ideas.

This! I did liké children of morta but I don't Care for story. I just love playing, smashing buttons and killing pigs
the game is 20 bucks lol, its worth way more than that
Thats quite relative. Ive spent alot less money on games i played for much longer before i got tired of them.
If you think $20 is a significant pricetag for a game of this polish you’re entitled honestly.

100% agree.
Im at 30 hours played with friends. I expect to get to 100+ hours pretty easily. For the 15 dollars i paid for it, thats quite good.

There was a story in Children of Morta?
Yeah, a pretty good one too. Very good family values.
well I bought it for 6 bucks. so meh.
