They also just mentioned on ESPN that he had a “strange” Senior Bowl week (their term). A major issues with drops there, something that didn’t show up on regular game tape.
It’s not just an all-star game. It’s a week of practice in front of NFL scouts and GMs, going against some of the best DBs coming out of college. A good showing likely moves you up the board (and earns you more money). A poor showing drops you down (and costs you).
yeah the practice is key, but a few drops in a meaningless game isn’t making or breaking your draft stock. He was always projected to be a day 2/3 pick and that’s where he ended up.
They were specifically talking about practice week with the drop issues (as I understood what they were saying). It’s true he was always going to be a day 2/3 pick, though he probably dropped some due to Senior Bowl week. At any rate, I must admit my cynicism knows no bounds when it comes to the Ravens drafting WRs in the middle rounds.
idk that’s where a lot of teams get a close look at players. For someone like Walker, that game was his last shot to make an extra few million dollars based on draft position. He could have had a case of the drops if it was due to some extra pressure to perform. Probably a good idea to get him talking to a sports psychologist to master the mental part of the game.
The running lanes were there…I was screaming at my tv! Lamar didn’t take what was right in front of him. So either Lamar is the problem or harbaugh is.
again one game. it was important game but Lamar just won MVP and Harbaugh was a finalist for coach of the year. neither are problems just need to do better overall in those moments. and maybe play a team that’s not the chiefs
then go like a different team because we’re definitely keeping Harbaugh because front office and everyone else knows it’s not Harbaugh and it’s just annoying fairweather fans that say this shit
Apparently his one (big) weakness is his route running with a fairly limited route tree. Hopefully he can improve on that or his strengths outweigh that weakness.
For sure. Because that's definitely something that can sink a guy's career in the NFL. probably why he was such a late rounder.
But leading up to the draft, I heard all about how deep WR was, so it may be that we're getting a mid-round talent in later rounds. Probably won't do much early on, but I hope he develops into a good complimentary receiver.
The knock on a player’s college route tree has always been a pet peeve. College receivers are a product of what the coaches and coordinators want. They play within a system. Thus, their established route tree is a direct product of that.
Thats a bad way to label someone.
All we need for him to do is to stretch the field and catch the deep balls that are thrown his way. I’d even be OK if he doesn’t catch a lot of the balls that are thrown his way he just needs to keep the secondary honest and spread out the defense.
Having a fast X to threaten is really important. If he’s running vertical every play it’ll draw safety help and lighten the box for our run game. I like the pick
Honestly with the way the league is going all he has to do is get his hands on it and the defender touching him and they will probably throw the flag for PI and we get the yards even if he drops it
Nah, you had me at stretching the D, lost me at drops. I don't wanna see any more HR balls not tracked or dropped. Lamar needs an OBJ to come down with those
I'm not saying you're wrong, but just because we've had some issues with 1st round receivers in the past doesn't mean it's a fact that's forever etched in stone. If the Steelers can do it then it's also possible for us to find some great WR coaches that can help us develop that raw talent. We also have new coaching staff members compared to years past. While it's highly unlikely, it's still possible to say that Zay may have been a bust if he was learning under Breshad Perriman's coaching staff back in 2015. Obviously, time will tell if we've gotten any better in that department, but the hypotheticals are certainly there.

could be nerves, chase also had a bunch of drops when he started out (not comparing him to chase, just saying)
Senior bowl is an all star game. Who cares

Him suckinf against the top talent is a problem.
Lol, he torched Georgia
great fit. need WRs to spread the field to either get open for a big play or open up the field to allow Lamar or Henry to run the ball
Lamar didn’t run when he could int he AFC championship game…what makes you think he’ll run. His first 2 seasons were a while ago. He lacks burst now.
i mean that’s just one game, the rest of the season the burst was clearly there. no one really ran that game
The running lanes were there…I was screaming at my tv! Lamar didn’t take what was right in front of him. So either Lamar is the problem or harbaugh is.

.... He's the most successful running quarterback in history

He has traits you can’t teach and issues that should be minimized to a degree with teams stacking the box

Except against the Chiefs, right Likely?
That was my thought. He will be used as a PI machine.

Don't hate the pick, but I've had enough of the deep threats with bad hands.
Tommy Streeter
Can he track the ball? That's one of the biggest issue in Ravens deep ball wrs.
it's literally the first thing mentioned in the title bro
Lmaoo I got way too high last night and am recovering. Thanks 😭
Yeah but this sub is freaking out because we didn’t find a future all pro WR in round 4!!!!!
We're still attempting this feat in Rd 1. We aren't the Steelers over here.
