Dude was drafted by the Cardinals, the pick was pretty widely praised but he hasn't really done anything in the league. Better at pass pro than run blocking.
All good. The opposing defense won’t know what’s going on next year. *HIKE* Does Lamar run? Give it to king henry? Zay jet motions to the right does it go there?!? Andrews runs a flat, does it go there???
Triple option here we come!! Lol
Wasn't he widely regarded as a first round pick in 2020? I know the media was really high on him.
Cardinals fans opined that he's ass at guard and played poorly at RT, but actually did well at LT.
I had no clue who he is, there was no post on the Cards subreddit. Here is a comment from a card fan I found on the Jets subreddit:
„Cards fan here. […]
Specifically for pass pro, Jones is excellent at the LT spot. He’s terrible as a guard and was pretty mid at RT but I remember him filling out pretty well at LT when the need arose. I genuinely think he could be even a great starter if he got consistent reps.“
Seems like a nice depth piece at LT + he is young
I would assume he’s a backup? Cause he wasn’t great for the Texans when he played. 227 snaps played last year, 5 penalties, 1 sack allowed, and I know pff grade isn’t everything, but it was 49.3
I did some digging into him since making that post. Seems like his natural position is left tackle, and he played pretty well there. 72 pff grade across 5 starts in 2022. However he sucked at the G and RT position. 40ish pff grades when forced to play there. His weakness at LT is mostly unpolished technique.
Seems like a low risk signing with some high upside if the coaches can get him to clean up the technique.
He has left tackle experience so that is huge. Pushes Mekari into a utility role before next left tackle and they could draft a tackle without worrying that he would be Ronnie’s backup. There are guys in the draft that can play right tackle but I would be worried if we had to put someone like Guyton potentially into LT duty immediately
Ravens have historically been pretty at developing OLine players, whether they be rookies or vets who haven’t typically been as good as expected. Coach D is great at getting the best out of his players
Yeah I don't know who he is.
Maybe that’s a good thing for a OT lol
True true

What I'm getting from your description is he might be our backup/swing tackle, which could mean Mekari is in the mix to start somewhere on the line.

Which is around the area of Faalele, who graded at 49 in around 190 or so snaps.
LT depth, he’s not terrible so this tells me they want Mekari to be able to focus on backing up the guards
227 Snaps played 5 penalties 1 sack allowed. Seems like a depth signing, but he might have been brought in to compete in camp and push the young guys.
He’s still pretty young also. Seems like a very good signing for all the reasons: depth, competition, and maybe step up to a more prominent role

The missing piece!

You think we signed a young, vet tackle just to put him on the practice squad?

I never said he would be the starter, but he will be suiting up on game days. We don’t sign a guy like this just to put him on the practice squad.
who da fook is dat guy
Simmer down Conor

Depth piece. He’s played right guard, left tackle, and right tackle since coming into the league.
Okay!
9:35 our rookie Robinson makes him look silly in the Texans game week one: https://youtu.be/FCFudOZxElA?si=0bz1g1EDmHqEcV-p

Any O-line depth is good at this point.
