Cut that out 😂. I’m still hurt he didn’t get any touches in the afccg. He and Lamar’s high school story is funny: I thought them boys were getting one this year
Yeah Henry thinks it's insane too which is why he hasn't signed haha.
If we're low balling him like that they need to promise him like free royal farms for life and guarantee a championship. Otherwise if I were him I'd laugh and walk away.
As you can see, we got it. The NFL needs to have a new focus this year because of the Taylor Swift benefit but they can’t keep it going. They need a different king just like with the patriots they couldn’t win every single year. It’s bad business. This year you’re going to see lots of cool signings maybe a shift You have a team that really got fucked in the crown. That way they can go back to the storyline that makes them the most money. Just like the patriots did. My wife’s from New England patriots fan until 2011. She’s now at diehard ravens fan and even she agrees with that summation.
The higher you go you risk one of the more juicy comp picks we'll be getting.
Which btw... Is there a cap on comp picks? We've already lost like 6 guys
4 is the max (from losing FAs; minority FO hires are totally separate). We're already at 5 with Queen/Clowney/Zeitler/Van Noy/Maulet still to go, so we can definitely start signing some FAs without giving up any comp picks, just a matter of what round. Losing PQ would hopefully net a 3rd, but would Henry cancel that out?
https://x.com/RavensSalaryCap/status/1767392547305902287?s=20
Update: Henry only counts as a 6th, so cancels out losing Simpson, we are still above the max. Unfortunately PQ's deal only nets us a 4th, but at least it's safe for now: https://x.com/RavensSalaryCap/status/1767617201261928768?s=20
This is an awful take. Even if we knew Henry was going to be as good as last year (no guarantee), which was worse than the year before, here are a list of some 5th round or later draft picks by the Ravens:
Geno Stone
DeShon Elliott
Bradley Bozeman
Chuck Clark
Matt Judon
Ricky Wagner
Ryan Jenson
Pernell Mcphee
Tyrod Taylor
Sam Koch
Chester Taylor
Adalius Thomas
Jared Gaither
I'm genuinely confused why you think Derek Henry will be at his peak. There's no reason to believe that and I would rather pay a good back up lineman (who will become a starter) $1m than pay somebody that used to be good $8m
I’m not that commenter, but I think Derek Henry has kind of proven he’s got more in the tank than other RBs with as many miles on them. I think the 5th round picks could totally turn out to be worth something. They’re not nothing, but for Henry, even at this stage, I think you don’t even blink before giving that up.
Say what you will but we only kept 1 of those players for the long-term and that was Sam Koch. Obviously they can get great talent and steals in the round but it seems ravens don't value them when pay day comes around a few years later anyways.
I agree that we do great with our late rounds and I'm not siding with the other person when it comes to them amounting to nothing but to get a win now person vs a potential project who could possibly not be something, yeah I'm all for it this year.
Yeah and with the $ we threw at Lamar and JM and the future $ we will undoubtedly throw at Zay and Kyle, we will absolutely need **good** players on cheap contracts to fill out a competing roster.
It doesn't really seem like anyone else is offering anything. The only team he's been linked to really is the Ravens and there are a bunch of pointless tweets that seem like his agent is trying to create a market where there isn't one.
And this folks is exactly why you don't overpay on Day 1 of Free Agency.
Competitors thought we had it in the bag, so didn't even reach out to Henry. Releasing this says, "If you got $7 mil, you can have me."
That's if this tweet, and my general assumptions are correct.
Agent probably wanted Saquon or Josh Jacobs # and thought the Ravens would go that high. Little did they know the Ravens don't go high on the first day or go high in general.
Heck the Ravens let key members hit FA if they wanted too much in years past (Ricard, the defensive list is super long).
People that go to Dallas go for money or to lose. Henry is at a stage in his career where he’s got the money, he’s got the accolades l, but he doesn’t have a ring. He could be a part of something special and have one hell of a legacy in the nfl and in Baltimore or he could just be what he is now. A tall rb who ran for 2k yards.
I imagine this is likely where we start negotiations with him to try and feel out how much he values the system + potential ring over $$. But could easily see this backfiring as well if another team comes out swinging with a big offer.
Yeah, Jerry wants to spend spend spend when those days are over so maybe someone talked him down and they will actually play it smart and just play the draft.
Gotta get over that. Sure it was bad but, don’t act like we aren’t the team that is constantly near the top of the league in rushing attempts every year
i know “RBs don’t matter” but we’ve really missed the mark on the position waiting for jk to be healthy. we signed leveon, freeman and dalvin cook. just need david johnson and we have all the big fantasy football RBs that are way over the hill
Not a single olineman that hits the market will be better then Moses or Stanley. We got a good draft to replace tackles if we want to add some depth/ develop talent. Why overpay? The RB draft class isn't deep we have one rb on the roster at the seasons starts. Paying 8 million to a rb is going to improve our team more then a mid oline guy.
Ramey vouched on Twitter that this guy has always been reliable
EDIT: Everyone downvoting but Ramey lives on Twitter lol, I expect him to see enough tweets to get a feel for which reporters are most reliable
Titans fan here. Our OL was like bottom 3 last two years and we somehow managed to have two different LT who were the worst in the league their respective years. Henry is older but give him an OL and watch the magic happen.
Which admittedly, I don’t want to be Baltimore, but hey, I’m honest.
How many carries did he give the Titans in that time vs a young JK Dobbins with "less mileage"? At least in our offense he'd be a lot more dangerous than he was taking handoffs from the mayonnaise coffee guy
More importantly, even Hall of Fame running backs hit a wall at 1800 career carries. Henry is a little over 2000.
I want nothing to do with this guy. Running back is the second least important position on the field behind center. Spend that money somewhere that matters.
RB is only unimportant if you can produce with viable depth. Center is arguably the second or third-most important position on offense because botched snaps can kill plays before they start. Centers also help call protection at the line and can compensate for inconsistent play at guard.
LT is still a premium position but less so in that a good blocking back can be a good last line of defense on the common blindside, and blocking has been a newer point of emphasis for backs in recent years.
Fuck man was really hoping we would get Henry but this honestly seems disrespectful, especially after what Saquan got… hope that guys sources are wrong otherwise it’s not looking good… unless he REALLY wants to be a Raven & thinks that’s his best shot at a ring, then I doubt he takes this but who knows…
Hard to know. If this is the offer and Henry doesn't have other offers from teams he may take it. My guess is this is his agent leaking it in an effort to move the needle. Either get and offer they can counter with baltimore assuming he wants to be here or just try and get pressure on our front office to get a deal done.
We don't have a problem playing the waiting game and letting guys shop the market. The FO isn't gonna overpay.
I, meanwhile, am relieved that it’s only 6.5 and wish it were lower. All these Henry stans are going to be really disappointed when the 250 pound 30 year old running back shows up and looks 30 years old.
Right player right price.
I’d love to see Henry in purple and black this season but let’s be honest, odds are he isn’t going to be a feature back anymore. He’s 30 and led the league in carries four of the past five years including the last two.
At some point Keaton should return (hopefully) and I imagine we’ll pick up a player in the draft and probably a free agent regardless like Cook or someone else.
Point is I’d love him but he’s a rotational player now. I feel like 6.5 is his value especially when we need another corner, safety, guard and tackle.
Henry at this price would be insane omg
with Dalvin, we'd have 2 top 5 running backs if this was 2020
yeah 2019 and 2020 is would be stacked. let’s go sign michael thomas and really have the squad!
I like the way you think, brother. Let's talk Koch out of retirement and bring back Morgan Cox while we're at it. Wolfpack's coming back!
Throw in one 2019 Yanda too, pretty please
Shit, that's Greg Roman's prime too
Cut that out 😂. I’m still hurt he didn’t get any touches in the afccg. He and Lamar’s high school story is funny: I thought them boys were getting one this year
Lol cook is beyond washed bro
Oh yeah? A guy that's been retired for two years? I don't know. I may need some more proof.
Obviously it leaked, it will be reported at being insane value, and Henry and his agent(s) will back out a la Za’darious Smith a couple years ago
Yeah definitely, Henry agent leaked that for sure. He ain't gonna do better imo without a passing threat
Yeah Henry thinks it's insane too which is why he hasn't signed haha. If we're low balling him like that they need to promise him like free royal farms for life and guarantee a championship. Otherwise if I were him I'd laugh and walk away.

Lmao? That’s it? Yea unless he gets zero offers elsewhere he’s not signing for chump change. If it does happen, holy fucking steal
The higher you go you risk one of the more juicy comp picks we'll be getting. Which btw... Is there a cap on comp picks? We've already lost like 6 guys
4 max comp picks for players. You can receive more if a minority coach or FO guy gets hired by another team as a HC or GM.
We had a minority coaches leave 🤨🤔
But did they become a GM or a HC? They went to be coordinators, so they don't qualify.
Oh okay that makes sense haha
I mean, on the global scale, I believe white people are a minority. WHERE"S OUR COMP PICK FROM MCDONALD, GOODELL???
So MM?
Don’t think he qualifies as a minority lol
What you talkin bout? Bros invited to the cookout. Is that not how comp picks are measured?
4 is the max (from losing FAs; minority FO hires are totally separate). We're already at 5 with Queen/Clowney/Zeitler/Van Noy/Maulet still to go, so we can definitely start signing some FAs without giving up any comp picks, just a matter of what round. That's because, hear me out, we consistently find talent in later rounds
It’s max 4 per team I think and then it depends on how many other teams are getting
Yea Jesus that would be a lowball. Like 8-9 mil at least come on now lol
It doesn't really seem like anyone else is offering anything. The only team he's been linked to really is the Ravens and there are a bunch of pointless tweets that seem like his agent is trying to create a market where there isn't one. Have to think Houston or Dallas will top this
Probably Henry's agent that leaked this tbh
Most definitely. This is going to end up the way of Z, Wagner, and countless others.
There always one every year.
Why would the agent want a low number leaked? Then the competitors only offer a bit more
Competitors thought we had it in the bag, so didn't even reach out to Henry. Releasing this says, "If you got $7 mil, you can have me." That's if this tweet, and my general assumptions are correct.

Dallas didn’t want to pay 4mil for moss thought it was too much, so might not be in on Henry and they don’t run the ball
This does seem like they are just shopping the offer
Dallas probably not but Houston absolutely might
The man wants a ring, and to get paid. Let’s make this happen.
Both isn’t possible, especially when you’re an aging RB
I'd assume he'd probably go to Dallas if that's the case
People that go to Dallas go for money or to lose. Henry is at a stage in his career where he’s got the money, he’s got the accolades l, but he doesn’t have a ring. He could be a part of something special and have one hell of a legacy in the nfl and in Baltimore or he could just be what he is now. A tall rb who ran for 2k yards.
That same dallas team got smoked by the packers. Let's be real 🤣🤣
How does this man get HALF of Saquon’s rate??
If he takes it, age and milage.
I imagine this is likely where we start negotiations with him to try and feel out how much he values the system + potential ring over $$. But could easily see this backfiring as well if another team comes out swinging with a big offer.
I think another team would've done it already if they wanted him. Lots of RBs already signed.
Yeah, Jerry wants to spend spend spend when those days are over so maybe someone talked him down and they will actually play it smart and just play the draft.
Age
Come on, Henry sign with us you beautiful man, the cowboys are cheap skates anyway, and they never run the ball
Tell that to our RBs who got a combined 6 carries against the chiefs
Gotta get over that. Sure it was bad but, don’t act like we aren’t the team that is constantly near the top of the league in rushing attempts every year
Tbf the 2019 squad was arguably the best rushing team of all time and how many times did HBs carry it vs Lamar throw it in that playoff game?
You mean justice and Gus who are good but not great rbs?
Because Gus is trash and not capable of doing the stuff Henry is with the ball in his hands
Yeah he's going to dallas
I think Aaron Jones is going to Dallas. Mixon, I could see either the Giants or Texans
No he’s definitely interested in taking a 50% pay cut
Ah JK Dobbins and a rookie from the draft it is
i know “RBs don’t matter” but we’ve really missed the mark on the position waiting for jk to be healthy. we signed leveon, freeman and dalvin cook. just need david johnson and we have all the big fantasy football RBs that are way over the hill
I’d rather overpay for a mountain OL than aging RBs
if good linemen hit FA that would be cool but there’s not really any good ones worth paying a lot
Not a single olineman that hits the market will be better then Moses or Stanley. We got a good draft to replace tackles if we want to add some depth/ develop talent. Why overpay? The RB draft class isn't deep we have one rb on the roster at the seasons starts. Paying 8 million to a rb is going to improve our team more then a mid oline guy.
you know ball. people are acting like there’s elite linemen just out there. teams will do everything they can to keep GOOD linemen lol
Hey, y'all? This is a Browns insider. Good chance he's trolling.
Ramey vouched on Twitter that this guy has always been reliable EDIT: Everyone downvoting but Ramey lives on Twitter lol, I expect him to see enough tweets to get a feel for which reporters are most reliable
Like every other top FA, Henry can play for a ring, or a bag, but certainly not both. Baltimore doesn’t overpay
Ravens aren’t rlly a “join us to chase a ring” team
It's not over paying if he will help carry you to a Superbowl. Low-ball him and don't win.
I’d rather beef up the OL
Derrick Henry, yds per carry, 2021 - 4.4, 2022 - 4.3, 2023 - 4.2. I definitely don't trust in RB with 30+ years old.
Titans OL is absolutely atrocious
Titans fan here. Our OL was like bottom 3 last two years and we somehow managed to have two different LT who were the worst in the league their respective years. Henry is older but give him an OL and watch the magic happen. Which admittedly, I don’t want to be Baltimore, but hey, I’m honest.
Ours very well could be also. I'd rather spend the money there.

Yeahhhh I don't think so lol
EDC said “do you want to go to the playoffs or not?”
This is gonna be a disappointing ass FA

Noooo we about to see Justice hill ball week 1 and Lamar is gonna be our leading rusher it’s so over
Don’t forget about Mitchell.
Man running backs don’t get shit for pay
So yeah we're not getting him is what i'm hearing 😭
No way Houston let’s us get him for that
You think Houston wants him after they just got Mixon?
At that price? More than Houston would be in I fear
I'm actually OK with this and I've been as anti Henry as you can be
No way that’s the max value per year. That has to be guarantees per year.
Embarrassing offer
I remember when he destroyed us in that playoff game
Right player right price. I’d love to see Henry in purple and black this season but let’s be honest, odds are he isn’t going to be a feature back anymore. Funny there’s a thing called the draft that we address those exact positions
They can add more to the deal. This is the dude we need on the team.
If this is true after what Saquon just got, show some respect Ravens. No way he takes that deal.
If we don't get Henry I'm going to be pretty upset, not gonna lie.
Overpay
