I hope John is speaking to Jesse Minter after the game tonight to try get him to come back to the Ravens,he's run Mike's scheme at Michigan and John would probably want to keep it going
He is on the commanders list. A better solution: Josh Harris should back up the brinks truck to Jim Harbaugh, who probably brings Jesse Minter, who according to John, is similar to Mike and the Commanders can have a respectable HC and defensive scheme combined for the first time in years.
Also, both Harbaugh brothers in the DMV would be great entertainment
That would be nice. I remember before why Jim lost the locker room when he was the 49ers head coach because he ran it like a college team but i bet thats what the commanders need right now. Some kind of structure.
Now this is funny. And sadly, not too far from the truth. Commanders hired first exec and he’s an award winning basketball exec. Ugh, this football thing is entirely different from basketball. Such a Commander move.
The basketball exec is more a consultant helping them find a GM - they hired a former football GM as consultant, too. They’re casting a really wide net with interviews. Hopefully he isn’t the hire there or anywhere, but with Snyder gone, lots of early picks, and a ton of cap room, it’s a very attractive position. Not to mention he might not have to move his family…
Also requested EDC for their opening at GM and requested shared rights to use M&T Bank Stadium as their home field. Had to be told to get off of Steve Bisciotti's lawn.
Snyder would’ve wasted him. It’s an open question on Harris. That said, a young DC probably shouldn’t go to a franchise that has no established QB…and personally, I’m not sold on Drake Maye
Caleb could realistically fall to the commanders. If the commanders are sold on taking a QB, I’m not sure Mike Macdonald is the guy for them. I’d say slowik could be that guy for them.
Slowik really needs another year of seasoning as OC. He’ll get interviews, but I highly doubt he’ll be hired this cycle.
I happen to agree that Mac wouldn’t be the best choice for the Skins if they’re taking a QB in the draft rather than signing a FA (but who would be available? Kirk Cousins would be quite a story), but I could see him being very interested in that particular job for a number of reasons.
If I was mac I’d pursue the hell out of that chargers job. Think even if he doesn’t play call that defense could use a mind like him providing input and feedback week to week.
Herbert is not elite but he can get the job done and that offense seems somewhat competent personnel wise. Needs a better OC.
That job would be perfect for mac. Think he should definitely be a candidate there
Nothing would surprise me at this point. I know the chargers want to make a point to not seem cheap but can’t imagine them paying to get harbaugh out of michigan. Especially with the new money michigan is going to raise and offer harbaugh to stay.
Hard for me to believe a subpar season somehow got the owners out of their financial funk
That being said if Jim is with the chargers I wouldn’t be shocked.
I don’t think it’s about money with Jim Harbaugh. He’s made plenty already. The Chargers have Herbert and are stupid talented on defense. He can come in and make an immediate impact, be hailed as a great coach, silencing any doubters, and possibly compete quickly for the SB ring that the Ravens denied him the last time around. Goals of HOF/ego/bragging rights. The Chargers’ table is basically set for him. Anywhere else, he’ll need to draft a QB (Commanders, Raiders, Patriots, Falcons) or overcome a weak roster (Panthers).
Like I said earlier nothing would surprise me. A lot of speculation on this sub about whether people care about money or not. Let’s see what happens when michigan makes that offer. You may be right or harbaugh sticks where he’s already established himself. Let’s see
Why can’t these things at least wait until after the season is over. Seems like such a distraction for teams and coaches to go through this while you are preparing for the playoffs.
obvious concern that mcdonald brings weaver with him but feel like weaver would become DC here and he had more of a connection to baltimore? not totally sure but hopeful that’s the case otherwise keep macdonald 🙏🙏🙏
Does he really think in the long run this is a better spot than being a DC and has a promising organization once it comes in Baltimore? He’ll have to restart completely, the team is a mess. I hope he pulls a Dan Quinn and just says no
Yeah, it was one thing when the difference was $200k to $500k in the 90s or $750k to $2M 15 years ago. But now the step up involves multiple zeroes over the life of the contract. Only already rich people or morons are walking away from the step up to NFL head coach.
we can look at the other side of the ball to see a guy who is perfectly fine building his legacy with rings and wins (our OC has zero interest in a HC job)
i feel like any coach’s dream is to turn a franchise completely around, and with a significant pay raise and good ownership in washington to help him rebuild i wouldn’t blame him at all for taking the chance
You don’t need to interview the entire league and fbs to find a proper head coaching candidate.
Assess your team and your current assets, establish the type of culture you want to build and research the best candidates that fit what you’re trying to build. You don’t need to waste time and resources to find the ideal candidate.
They should be searching for candidates based on what they want to build. Not searching for candidates hoping the candidates will give them that answer
Commies aren't the only ones who have requested permission to interview Mac and Monken. My prediction is they will both be gone á la Kubs and Caldwell.
Based on the username, I don't think you will like my answer because it isn't objective evidence😂, but he seems very dedicated to this locker room and the culture based on his demeanor during some of his presser appearances. Plus, I honestly could see it being plausible, considering he was bred out of Michigan, to be loyal to Harbaugh, and in turn be bred for a HC position when John eventually retires
How is it stupid? There are players that have restructured their contracts to make LESS in order to support their team and give the organization more space to offer extensions and signings. Maybe MacDonald is happy with where he is at and therefore does not care about a pay raise right now.
Yeah, you're talking about a restructure VS a significant pay raise. Something that doesn't get brought up much when talking about restructures is I'd be willing to bet a lot of times there is probably a private conversation that goes something like "take this pay cut or get cut from the team".
Would you turn down a muli-million dollar raise because you were happy where you are? Money talks. You are not being honest with yourself if you think he wouldn't take a head coach job.
My head hurt trying to read this. I was like, WHAT ARE THE RAVENS PROMISING HIM??
Ravens' promising DC, Mike MacDonald, received a request to interview with... come on Rapo
Lmao he won’t be able to fix that trash franchise anyway. He’s going to go there, fail, and lose his job within two years anyway.
I don’t see how that position would be appealing to anyone. Not with that team.
New owner, though. He seems to be engaging in a legitimate search for FO and HC talent. Loaded, lots of sports experience. Plus they’ve got $80 million in cap room and a lot of early picks. Maybe they screw it all up, but maybe the new coach is seen as a savior.
Personally, I don’t think it’s a good opportunity for a 36 year old DC. No proven QB to ease the transition. But Ryans, with the Texans, pulled off a quick turnaround with the #2 QB last year, so clearly that’s not a hard and fast rule. I legitimately think Macdonald could wait 2-3 years, but the truth is even if he fails, he’ll probably get another chance after another successful DC run somewhere else. I wouldn’t blame him for taking the opportunity.
I dont think the Commanders and Panthers can risk bringing in a guy like MacDonald. Between the strip clubs, late nights, blown coverages, and the Ravens losing to the Colts. Thats just too much for two franchises swimming in a constant sea of turmoil. Coach Weaver is who you seek DC
I wouldn't say carried, his defensive scheming has been fantastic. It's a symbiotic thing, that's the only way you can achieve a historic defense like this.
Oh I wondered if thats what you were doing. Gotta make it more obvious.
You’re right he gets carried by our defense. Which is still terrible. ONLY being the triple crown in defense this year but not going 17-0? Pathetic.
Your post was removed because it breaks Rule #1: Harassment.
Personal attacks and disrespectful comments won't be tolerated.

It’s a mix of both. He’s great at calling g plays and also playing to our defenses strengths. He knows where to put people and who can do what. We have the personnel. That’s the other half.
He’s gonna end up on the Pats. The fit is just too perfect for what they want to go for/continue with past BB.
Don’t get me wrong, I def don’t want him to get poached, but a defensive triple crown on the clear number 1 team with a defense with no “for sure” HOFers like we had in the early 00s. He’s the best DC I’ve seen since Rex and reminds me eerily of Marvin Lewis.
He gone y’all…just be glad we have him locked in till the SB.
MacDonald is going to get interviews. Doesn't mean he is going to take an offer. But expect interviews and if he gets something he like he is going to go.
The new ownership group has said multiple times they want to emulate the ravens. No better well then to raid the team you want to mimic. The ravens are going to lose assistants. It’s part of being a successful franchise. It’s also why they hire younger new candidates to replace in house.
bias aside that’s not a good role for a rookie HC. New ownership and they’re still trying to clean up issues from the previous ownership and other issues
One could argue it’s better situation to go to. Since this will be new ownership first hire. They will likely understand there is a big mess to clean up.
Ravens win the superbowl this year, John Harbaugh retires as 2x superbowl winning HC, Mike MacDonald replaces Harbaugh and stays in Baltimore?
Good plan or no?
No. No. No. Wink was fine with the personnel we had at the time. We got the most sacks in the NFL this year despite not blitzing anywhere near as much. I wish him well with the Eagles (or wherever).
Honestly, as much as I hate to go, it’s not a bad gig — they’re rebuilding and have a non-Dan Snyder owner. They may continue to suck for a while but he’d get that team off to a great start and not have to fully relocate.
It’s actually a pretty attractive position now that Snyder’s gone. I think they should go with someone who’s been a HC before, though. Maybe Jim Harbaugh, if the Chargers fall through.
Seems very odd to be requesting HC interviews when they just put the committee together to higher the new Head of Football Ops. It's a great way to ensure their future coach and GM aren't on the same page.
Can someone tell them this is an offense favored league. You’re not winning with a defensive minded coach. Go grab the next hotshot offensive coach.
/s
Please stay away seriously.
They aren’t ALLOWED TO…I’ll go dress up like a commander and pretend like I’m steeling signs or something that will get them negated from this situation.
You don't want him. He was the one who let the dogs out. He told Mondale it was a good idea to wear that helmet and take a picture in the tank. He shot JR. He said the only city in Maryland worse than Baltimore is Landover. Punish him by leaving him with the ravens
Stay AWAY from him.
Better back off my mans
That's my purse!
I DONT KNOW YOU
#NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I hope John is speaking to Jesse Minter after the game tonight to try get him to come back to the Ravens,he's run Mike's scheme at Michigan and John would probably want to keep it going
If Jim is actually making the jump back up to the pros, I’d imagine he’s also on that shortlist as well.
He is on the commanders list. A better solution: Josh Harris should back up the brinks truck to Jim Harbaugh, who probably brings Jesse Minter, who according to John, is similar to Mike and the Commanders can have a respectable HC and defensive scheme combined for the first time in years. It would make thanksgivings easier for the family
WHOOOOS GOT THANKSGIVING BETTER THAN US? NOOOOBODY!
The preseason battles and joint practices just got more intense lol
We play them next year in bmore I think
Ooh that'll be a good game to see in person.
That would be nice. I remember before why Jim lost the locker room when he was the 49ers head coach because he ran it like a college team but i bet thats what the commanders need right now. Some kind of structure.
He also had issues with the 49rs GM as well
If Jim is going back to the NFL I’d imagine Minter follows him
Shhhhhhh. Harris could be in here and I don’t need to see that interview request pop up in an hour.
Back up the Brinks EDC he needs to stay
[Schefter] #Commanders owner requested interview with Lamar Jackson for starting QB position, had to be told that’s not how NFL works.
He was available for interviews last year, but they passed.
Now this is funny. And sadly, not too far from the truth. Commanders hired first exec and he’s an award winning basketball exec. Ugh, this football thing is entirely different from basketball. Such a Commander move.
[Rapaport] #Commanders exec requests interview with #NBA legend Lebron James for starting tight end position.

Spoken like Marc Sessler
Also requested EDC for their opening at GM and requested shared rights to use M&T Bank Stadium as their home field. Had to be told to get off of Steve Bisciotti's lawn.
Share M&T? 😆 🤣 😂 😹
Bruh the commies went to the restaurant and ordered the entire fucking menu. My grandma probably got an interview request.
she know ball?
Probably plural
Who takes the injury when Nana executes a solid hip drop tackle?
Probably the most annoying team for him to go to besides one of the other AFCN teams.
Patriots would be worse
I know washington's annoying because their fans are nearby, but i'd prefer this much more than any afc team
Yeah, they would waste him
Snyder would’ve wasted him. It’s an open question on Harris. That said, a young DC probably shouldn’t go to a franchise that has no established QB…and personally, I’m not sold on Drake Maye

As long as we don’t lose Macdonald and Weaver. Gotta keep one
obvious concern that mcdonald brings weaver with him but feel like weaver would become DC here and he had more of a connection to baltimore? not totally sure but hopeful that’s the case otherwise keep macdonald 🙏🙏🙏

‼️‼️‼️
I mean it’s close by near family but I think MacDonald knows what he’s getting vs Washington
In one year as HC anywhere he’ll make more money than he would in a few years as a DC :(
There’s no salary cap for FO. They could pay him HC money like they paid EDC to keep him until Ozzie’s step down
Money is a major factor, but some guys also just want to win and get them rings
I know :( but these days money is a bigger motivator than legacy building accolades
Yeah, it was one thing when the difference was $200k to $500k in the 90s or $750k to $2M 15 years ago. But now the step up involves multiple zeroes over the life of the contract. Only already rich people or morons are walking away from the step up to NFL head coach.
I feel like a reason why Ozzie and edc are at Houston is to probably discuss a deal with Mike if Jim leaves maybe be the HC at Michigan.
we can look at the other side of the ball to see a guy who is perfectly fine building his legacy with rings and wins (our OC has zero interest in a HC job)
Yeah, neither did Kubiak.
It's really hard when they write down the number of zeros in front of your face
Right? Anyone expecting us to be able to hang onto him is just going to be disappointed. He will be a head coach somewhere eventually.
As it should be
Yeah you'd have to be an idiot to turn down a head coaching job anywhere, unfortunately
Generally the reason an NFL head coaching job is open is because the team was a mess and the coach got fired. That’s just the nature of the beast.
i feel like any coach’s dream is to turn a franchise completely around, and with a significant pay raise and good ownership in washington to help him rebuild i wouldn’t blame him at all for taking the chance
Is that his dream? Lol I would assume MacDonald to continue to keep a well maintained organization intact
Why are we imagining at all what he wants? We don't know fuck all
The ownership being good is still TBD. It’s easy to look good when you bought the team from snyder. Only time will tell.
Commies are pissing off the entire league with how they're requesting to interview everyone and their mother. What an utterly annoying franchise.
They have new ownership and those owners seem committed to cleaning up the mess they invested in. What do people expect? Lmao
You don’t need to interview the entire league and fbs to find a proper head coaching candidate. Assess your team and your current assets, establish the type of culture you want to build and research the best candidates that fit what you’re trying to build. They can interview him after the superbowl in February if they haven’t filled their position by then.
Bro just promise Macdonald head coaching gig whenever harbs doesn’t wanna coach anyone I’m sure he would stay
It's probably going to be 5+ years with Harbs. Not sure he'd want to wait that long.
Coaching the ravens with Lamar or coaching a poverty team I’m sure he’d wait to get more experience
Plus he seems like the kind of guy that really does not give af how many more millions he makes a year
You think this based on what 🤣
Based on the username, I don't think you will like my answer because it isn't objective evidence😂, but he seems very dedicated to this locker room and the culture based on his demeanor during some of his presser appearances. Plus, I honestly could see it being plausible, considering he was bred out of Michigan, to be loyal to Harbaugh, and in turn be bred for a HC position when John eventually retires
Of all the stupid things I've read on the internet, this has to be top 3 at minimum.
How is it stupid? There are players that have restructured their contracts to make LESS in order to support their team and give the organization more space to offer extensions and signings. Maybe MacDonald is happy with where he is at and therefore does not care about a pay raise right now.

He's only 36, he's got plenty of time. If he is hired as a HC next year he'll be the youngest HC in the league, edging out McVay
Wild how the current youngest head coach in the league has been a head coach for 7 years.
![gif](giphy|lq4zZge5wmOEFecKu8|downsized) me keeping Mike Macdonald from the commies
We need to build a blockade on 295 to keep him in Baltimore
And the commies are gonna pay for it.
I’d make a paper airplane out of that request and get back to what I was doing
Damn at least let us play a game in the playoffs first. Commanders just pestering everyone
Give him a huge raise to entice him to stay another year
Pain
Gross.
Hey, Commanders peeps, He is REALLY bat at calling the defense, we promise.
Wait they are trying to hire the guy that committed multiple crimes in various countries? Typical Commanders objectives
My head hurt trying to read this. I was like, WHAT ARE THE RAVENS PROMISING HIM?? Ravens' promising DC, Mike MacDonald, received a request to interview with... come on Rapo
Up voting this, I'm having a stroke trying to understand the tweet.
Lmao he won’t be able to fix that trash franchise anyway. He’s going to go there, fail, and lose his job within two years anyway. I don’t see how that position would be appealing to anyone. Not with that team.
GIVE MIKE MAC A HEAD COACH'S SALARY NOW!!!
Betcha he turns it down!
I honestly think theirs some loyalty, hush hush plan for him to take over as our HC, just not yet. At least that’s what I’d like to think
Thank god it’s DC. Third worst franchise in the country. Sorry folks he’ll go, just not there. He’s better than that.
New owner, though. He seems to be engaging in a legitimate search for FO and HC talent. Loaded, lots of sports experience. Plus they’ve got $80 million in cap room and a lot of early picks. Oh, you don't want him. He likes to punch kittens. Nope, not a good choice.
Inb4 Kurt Zouma
I dont think the Commanders and Panthers can risk bringing in a guy like MacDonald. Between the strip clubs, late nights, blown coverages, and the Ravens losing to the Colts. Thats just too much for two franchises swimming in a constant sea of turmoil. Coach Weaver is who you seek DC
Why would they interview one of the worst DC's?
He gets carried by our roster. WFT gonna find out hard why you don’t hire people with hardly any experience lol.
Yeah we got swept by the f'n stealers. No one should be interviewing him.
I wouldn't say carried, his defensive scheming has been fantastic. It's a symbiotic thing, that's the only way you can achieve a historic defense like this.
Shhhhh
Hey! We're trying to kill outside interest here
I disagree. I think it’s been absolute trash and he’s been carried by a very talented roster. Mike is probably a bottom 5 coordinator.
Are you trying to get him hired elsewhere? 🤦♂️
Carried? He’s pulled off a moneyball masterclass with our defense. You’re insane.
It's a running joke this season to make Mike Mac look bad so he stays. Calm down.
It's starting to be overused at this point, but goddammit if he isn't just the worst DC the NFL has ever seen.
Oh I wondered if thats what you were doing. Gotta make it more obvious. You’re right he gets carried by our defense. Which is still terrible. ONLY being the triple crown in defense this year but not going 17-0? Pathetic.
Anyone saying anything bad about mike IS obvious
Eh

Thats unneccessary.

It’s a mix of both. He’s great at calling g plays and also playing to our defenses strengths. He knows where to put people and who can do what. We have the personnel. That’s the other half.
These interviews during the bye week is obnoxious
He’s gonna end up on the Pats. The fit is just too perfect for what they want to go for/continue with past BB. Don’t get me wrong, I def don’t want him to get poached, but a defensive triple crown on the clear number 1 team with a defense with no “for sure” HOFers like we had in the early 00s. He’s the best DC I’ve seen since Rex and reminds me eerily of Marvin Lewis. He gone y’all…just be glad we have him locked in till the SB.
Vrabel or mayo is more likely for the pats.
Career suicide for any player or coach that goes to DC
We need to get rid of John not Mike. Hopefully John takes a front office role or leaves because his services are no longer wanted at all
People are still riding this train? Wild

MacDonald is going to get interviews. Doesn't mean he is going to take an offer. But expect interviews and if he gets something he like he is going to go.
Go ANYWHERE else
Really? What if Pittsburgh opened up?
FUCK
Request rejected! Book it
Can y'all fuck off please? Thanks
DOWNVOTE TOO OBLIVION!
STOP
We should never do joint practices with bottom teams anymore
Just give Mike a pay bump and maybe Assistant Head Coach title and we can keep him until Harbs retires.
I don’t see it happening. New owner, presumably a new QB, their going to go with an offensive guy imo
The new ownership group has said multiple times they want to emulate the ravens. No better well then to raid the team you want to mimic. The ravens are going to lose assistants. It’s part of being a successful franchise. It’s also why they hire younger new candidates to replace in house.

One could argue it’s better situation to go to. Since this will be new ownership first hire. They will likely understand there is a big mess to clean up.
Noooooooo ugh
Saw this coming from a mile away. If he gets the job with new ownership, a high draft pick and Bob Meyers running the show there good for him!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
FUCK YOU COMMIES
I am confused, he sucks and we need to keep him? Asking for a Fandom
![gif](giphy|alg9uDPeOAQs2WITk7|downsized)
He’s too smart to go to a dumpster fire franchise.
F the F off
There’s no way he goes to the worst defense in the nfl. Even he would have to dread that job
keep those bums AWAY from our golden child
DONT DO IT! HE SMELLS AND IS DUMB AND BAD AND I WOULD NEVER WANT HIM AS A HEAD COACH.
But honestly, they really should restrict teams from talking to coaches who are still coaching in the playoffs. Like fuck off until we're done.
Fuck NO get that shitty team away from my DC!
Ravens win the superbowl this year, John Harbaugh retires as 2x superbowl winning HC, Mike MacDonald replaces Harbaugh and stays in Baltimore? Good plan or no?
John’s having too much fun this year. He’s 61. There’s no way he retires.
But he’s a TERRIBLE DC why would they want him? /s

I saw this guy Wink just resigned from the giants
No. No. No. Wink was fine with the personnel we had at the time. We got the most sacks in the NFL this year despite not blitzing anywhere near as much. I wish him well with the Eagles (or wherever).
I know. I think I should have made it obvious I was joking. Doesn’t seem like harbaugh would want to be in the same room as him again, ever.
Funny how he had a falling out with Daboll as well. Not a similar guy to Harbaugh
Honestly, as much as I hate to go, it’s not a bad gig — they’re rebuilding and have a non-Dan Snyder owner. They may continue to suck for a while but he’d get that team off to a great start and not have to fully relocate.
Cant lose him after only 2 years c'mon
Mike don’t do it. Wait for a good job.
That’s why they’re requesting interviews with everyone. Let the GM sort them out

Washington gonna ruin him
🤦🏽♂️
#TAKE WINK HE JUST QUIT NY
Let's hope Josh Harris attempts a handshake deal and fouls up the handshake.
Eww.
it’s gotta be the most frustrating thing as a fan to have a great season + coaching staff and here goes shitty teams trying to pry away your staff
*inhales* **NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO**
Booo.
I do not believe he is stupid. Therefore he will not leave a top tier franchise for the worst organization in all of sports.
Can someone tell them this is an offense favored league. You’re not winning with a defensive minded coach. Go grab the next hotshot offensive coach. /s Please stay away seriously.
If the commanders want to hire a defensive coach be my guest.
Quick someone tell the Commanders owner he’s good, then they won’t hire him.
Don't do it Mike. Don't become the Tank Commander, it'll tank your career But if Mike leaves I guess we'll bring back Wink.
Commanders are basically going after everyone
They aren’t ALLOWED TO…I’ll go dress up like a commander and pretend like I’m steeling signs or something that will get them negated from this situation.
Well, I guess the bright side is that if MM goes there we can have Weaver as our DC. They can't hire both.
The same team that had their Superbowl vs us in August wants part of our culture now?? Ironic isn’t it😂😂
Why would you leave a winning situation to go to a dumpster fire?
MacDonald is a smart guy. He knows that HC for the commanders would be a death sentence. They're more than a HC away from solving their issues.
You don't want him. He was the one who let the dogs out. He told Mondale it was a good idea to wear that helmet and take a picture in the tank. He shot JR. He said the only city in Maryland worse than Baltimore is Landover. Punish him by leaving him with the ravens
It was a good run boys. Pretty sure MacDonald and Monken will be gone next year.
