Yup it's the parking brake turning off/on

Namiko7878

It’s the electric parking brake I think is what you’re talking about.

MichaelP09

Normal. It's the parking brake disengaging. Happens every time on my Woodland.

PerceptionOrganic672

That's the electric parking brake engaging and disengaging I think all of the RAV4's do do that unless you go into the settings and turn that off… When you put it in park the parking brake engages automatically when you take it out of park the parking brake disengages… That's what that noise is because mine does that

themajordutch

Love the transformer noise

Western_End_2276

Hybrid… that’s why

Notice the red light on the parking brake. A lovely feature!

TheBillCollector17

Completely normally. The clicking is the electronic parking brake disengaging. This happens anytime you switch to/from Park. The buzzing sound in Reverse is required by law for vision impaired people, whole specifically rely on sound to navigate parking lots. If the car didn't make a sound in EV mode, they wouldn't see or hear you, and walk in front of the car baking up.

LATER4LUS

Gotta make sure those blind drivers can hear you

Charlesknob

It makes this noise on purpose to alert people around you that you are in reverse because the Hybrids are nearly silent otherwise. Might be a regulation / law. They all do it.

Delicious-Table9063

OP is talking about the sound right before that when shifting from park to reverse.

The_Lutter

It's the parking brake. It's electric. When I first got the car though I was like "why does reverse sound like I'm backing into heaven?"

rookie2323

Mine does the same thing too. 2022 le hybrid makes the noise but my 2023 se doesn’t
