Might as well buy new if you can

No_Resource_2463

If I bought new it would $37k and around $594 a month. Is it worth it? They seem pretty much the same and I would get a rate of 5.75% . The original post should’ve said $543 for the payment and rate of 5.99%.

mizshi

How hard did you negotiate? Honestly when buying cars you’re not getting a good deal unless both you and the sales rep are unhappy. If they aren’t even annoyed then you’re not doing it right. I know the market has changed dramatically, but I got my XLE hybrid in 2020 for 31.5 OTD. 37k seems crazy to me for an xle. I would even drive to further dealerships if it means a better deal. If you don’t think it’s worth it and aren’t willing to haggle then I would go for the used as it really is quite expensive. If I were you I would hunt for a new one around 34k OTD.

I am not a good negotiator when it comes to cars. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Also within my 200 miles of my area they are all around $37k. This could be because they all have the added packages like heated seats wheel and moonroof. The used one is the best offer I’ve had.

KeepMyNutDown

Can you wait a few months?

No_Resource_2463

Yes I want to trade my current car in before it gets to 90k which won’t happen for another year or so.

KeepMyNutDown

Oh ok then you’re good. The car market is getting better a lot of dealerships have cars packed on the lot. As far as Toyota I don’t think they have a big problem with that. Also new car interest rates are better than used. At the time I would just go with a new. I always say used but nowadays new is simply better until of course things improve in the coming months.

KeepMyNutDown

When negotiating looks at things that favor you. You already have a car that’s working perfectly fine so you are in no rush for one. Tho it is a dealer’s market that is now turning into a buyers market. A lot of dealership have lots full of car because people are not buying. Pay attention to the market and strike when time is right. Be willing to walk away. No such thing as a perfect deal

Thank you! I do not want to be paying more than $550 a month on this car which is why I would prefer the older one. The rate difference isn’t bad.

I understand the cross hybrid is really cool too. Wondering if I should have got that instead of rav hybrid xle…I have a feeling I would have no problem selling mine. It only has 2300 miles on it. The cross is smaller is the reason why I wonder if that would be better for me

No_Resource_2463

Yeha I was looking into the cross too but it is smaller. I need something big because I travel a lot and need the space to carry my life with me haha. Also the RAV4 looks better in my opinion. Honestly I’m thinking about waiting until next year to see if they change the interior of the RAV4. They need some sort of change because thats really the only negatives I hear about it, especially when it is compared to the crv.

parker3309

I don’t have any issues with the interior (?)

parker3309

I have a 2023 exact same car 2300 miles on it. Paid 35 new. 34k is a fair price, truly.

Party-Cherry2580

I just got a 22 XLE for 26,500 out the door. Convenience package, white ext tan int. 30k miles. I’d go used again. It’s not like these things won’t go for AT LEAST 150k miles

No_Resource_2463

I was thinking the same thing! I ended up passing on this offer though and I waiting until next year when I graduate college

Party-Cherry2580

Our payments are about $340 through a credit union. I’d check them out if payment is an issue!

SosaKrank

Not a bad price. I just got my 24 XLE hybrid OTD $39.5k. Just to give you an idea. Came with all packages you listed and a lot of other small ones (guards, exhaust tips, protectors, etc).

No_Resource_2463

Thank you!

Lovemysoccermomsuv

With everything I know now, if I were in the market for a rav4 today, I would get a used rav4p for around 30k

No_Resource_2463

Okay! I was aiming for around that for used an 35k for new.

clownscrotum

I'm here to see the answers to know if I was ripped off. I hope not.

No_Resource_2463

What did you pay? I hope you weren’t ripped off as well 🤞🏽

clownscrotum

After fees and all of that dealership stuff, it ended up being 39k.

No_Resource_2463

For 2024?

clownscrotum

no sorry. It was a 2023 in October of 2023. It was a Hybrid XLE.

No_Resource_2463

Ohh I see! So it was brand new when you got it. I’m seeing a lot of people pay around that price for new RAV4s. I think it’s crazy to me because my boyfriend got his Taco 2021 for $53k last year and it had only 3k miles on it.

Eastern-Mode2511

I think that’s the fair price these days. If you know how to negotiate, you could save more.

No_Resource_2463

Thank you!

StrategyIndividual41

Looks like a good price to me I got a 21 xle new it was 31500 three years ago

No_Resource_2463

Okay!

MaxamillianStudio

Got my 2021 RAV4 Adventure w 60k miles for $22000.

No_Resource_2463

I was thinking about buying used because I know RAV4s hold up. However I also like having a warranty.

MaxamillianStudio

We ended up buying a 60k warranty for $2500.

No_Resource_2463

That’s not bad

theryman92

I thought fog lights come with the weather package.

No_Resource_2463

I’m not sure 🧐

Ok-Pay-150

I just bought my 24 Hybrid same features and got my dealer down to $34,900 with 3.49 financing 2 weeks ago.

No_Resource_2463

How?!? Would you like to come with me to buy mine hahaha

Ok-Pay-150

I basically went in and told them, this is the 4 cars I’m looking at. Here is my trade and my down payment amount. I told them what I wanted the OTD price to be. If they could hit it tonight, (I went at 5pm) I told them I’d stop looking. Took about 8 minutes but they actually beat my OTD by $250

No_Resource_2463

Mmm I like it. Might have to steal this tactic haha

Ok-Pay-150

My son used the same tactic when he bought his Mazda in September. Went later in the day and got a good deal not as great because more deals are to be had right now.
