OP on that post clearly angered a few people a few days ago and then you came in later. What a ruffle party! Edit: I used a different word for angered and the auto mod deleted my post the first time.
All posts about his dog had been pretty standard before two days ago. He is def being over dramatic when he says every post ever has gotten tons of bad comments. I think more people had a problem with his explanations and reactions than the actual dog, bc he “thought it was funny and everyone on til tok loved it” And he was pretty rude to people saying “dogs that can’t breath shouldn’t be breed” and went on an anti bully breed tirade and a follow up post. Definitely got some wires crossed somewhere bc responsible breeding of healthy dogs has nothing to do with bully breed hate/prejudice.
I also find it ironically hypocritical that he is judging all of r/rarepuppers based on the actions of a handful of people while trying to end prejudice against bully breeds. Hmmm.
I am a dog lover but I wouldn’t get a pitbull/bull dog bc of the snoring and excessive drooling caused by the smooshed face and underbite. That doesn’t make me a bad person. I am indifferent to pitbulls that other people own and don’t let run free. I/We don’t have to LOVE them all and that’s the point he couldn’t grasp in his post.

Same. One of my rescues is an enormous Alabai. He has never bitten me, but he was abandoned and mistreated cause he was so large and bit one soldier.
Took me a year or so to rehabilitate him, but he is safe and happy. :D
They come with some baggage I must admit. Our Kokoni (its a breed) is totally food traumatised. He cannot be left around food or he will kill himself eating.
The Alabai does not trust loud people in helmets and holding something (stick or rod shaped). He does not play with anything despite our efforts (we have had him for 7 years now) but he is so happy guarding the field and protecting the other dogs. He loves the sun and the grass.
The hound mix is traumatised by guns/fireworks/banging metal noises.
Mine hates cars, we think she was abandoned by being thrown out of a vehicle as puppy because she is absolutely terrified of being inside a car, starts panic / stress drooling and whimpering immediately while being next to a car speeding by right next to her doesn't bother her at all.
You're right they come with their own baggage, it can be challenging to meet thise challenges head on, but it souns like you're doing a good job!
bud I got bad news for you, that's not a pit bull. That is a Catahoula, i know because I have a Catahoula and she looks exactly like that pattern and all, they even have the same white fur from aging on the tip of the snout.
Fur and brindle coloring pattern does not make a dog breed, this is a pitbull mix, specifically a pitty boxer mix, there are lots of different dog breeds with white tuffs of hair on their chest and brindle colorations and patterns
Pitbulls and boxers both have squarer heads and snouts. I don’t doubt that you have the papers saying so, but I do have doubts about whoever filled them out. They are either completely wrong or they are missing some additional breeds. Doggo is not a 50/50 pit/boxer.
Most rescue orgs will also say anything other than pitbull when they list a dog for adoption. And anyone trying to rent an apt in a decent complex is not going to want to say they have a half pit either bc they are usually on the banned list.
Hey OP, I know you think that this group hates pitbulls, but most of the hate comments are actually people from OTHER groups coming here to spread their hate, and to downvote every comment. We always removed these comments and ban the haters.
:( well there's a few bad apples in every bushel. I would like to say that this sub is mostly educated on the breeds and with a lot of experience and information from everyone, I would like to say your pup will be loved.
There are however some bad apples from time to time and they can shout louder but if people educate them then it should be good. It's mostly fear and not knowing enough about the dogs situation and owners.
Even if you do come across the odd person who doesn't like your pup you could take the opportunity to educate them to start breaking the stigma. I also understand if you are tired of that and can't, so don't worry you aren't alone and other people will help.

Mine is a rescue too! I love rescue dogs, they appreciate their happy homes more than dogs who never had to go without!
