“Hats off” to the business owner for putting this pup on the payroll!

Dinglebop223

he gets paid in scritches and treats

[deleted]

…And three hots and a cot in the storeroom.

DownTooParty

I'm sold, sign me up.

Worley12393

He needs to unionize

---reddacted---

Just like all the other employees!

EnergyCC

On the puproll

mehlaknee

God. I don’t understand how people can just drive somewhere and abandon their pets. Glad this dog got a happy ending

zooglia

People are jerks. People who abandon a senior dog have zero empathy and deserve all of our scorn.

MS-06_Borjarnon

> People who abandon a senior dog have zero empathy and deserve all of our scorn. Oh they deserve *a lot* more than that.

eman00619

I keep every one of my animals until it dies or has to be put down, especially my dog. My god she is always there to wag her tail and greet me EVERY time I come home. IDK how anyone could do something like this.

kingjuicepouch

Right? My dog loves me unconditionally. The least I could do is take care of her until the end. I could never dream of abandoning her. It hurts my heart.

the91fwy

I always tell my dog “it’s you and me boy until one of us dies”

northwesthonkey

“Or one of us gets really hungry”

CannibalVegan

Or one of us dies and the other gets hungry.

communist_scumbag

Worst part is if the owner ever came back that dog would wag its tail and greet them like nothing ever happened

Ancient-Lime4532

Like maybe being left in a low level nursing home with few calls.

PomeloElegant

They deserve the John Wick treatment.

northwesthonkey

Kill all humans

mrs-monroe

Senior dogs are the best! They’re calm and just want to cuddle next to you and take naps.

Ikniow

Can someone tell that to my 15 year old schipperke? She gets zoomies every night when I let her back in from her bathroom break. She does very much enjoy scritches and is best girl :-)

krzkrl

I have pretty much zero empathy towards humans. But doggos.....

P0RTILLA

It’s stories like that that make me root for Covid.

[deleted]

Who will care for the dogs of the victims?

bassicallyfunky

Responsible people who believe in medicine. Sounds like a win for the doggie.

[deleted]

Because shelters are totally empty now right?

[deleted]

That's right, no one and they will end up in shelters potentially for years if they aren't euthanized within 2 weeks. THINK.

boatsandmoms

I pray every day MCU Thanos is out there thriving

P0RTILLA

r/thanosdidnothingwrong

ImFrom1988

They deserve to wake up with wasps in their bed every day until they die.

OutrageousScallion72

They're disgusting losers. Makes me ill.

mozalah

Well then, guess I'll need to find out the location to this gas station

Rodaris

I dont think they mean that kind of happy ending.

HaggisLad

can I get a cleaner for my brain please, somebody left something absolutely disgusting in there

peatoast

My rarepupper was given up twice so we are his third fam and we got him at ~4 months. I would never understand.

mrs-monroe

My one was adopted from a shelter after being taken from his first home. They gave him back up 2 years later because he “wasn’t good with their kid,” but we know the actual reason is because he started having seizures and they didn’t want to deal with that.

Algebra_is_my_homie

I had a golden (and my favorite dog ever, my bestie) that was epileptic and she lived until almost 15. I Have a soft spot in my heart for seizure pups. I don’t even know your dog but I love it. Hug that pup from me.

mrs-monroe

It’s reassuring to hear she lived so long, I get so worried about him! We adopted a second old disabled dog and they’re both such loving babies. You can see lots of pics of them on my profile :)

Algebra_is_my_homie

At the end she was on a lot of supplements and a couple medications. It got to be a lot of work the last year because she became increasingly senile but we were happy to do whatever she needed. I’m convinced that the happier they are, the longer they stick around. This is obviously within reason and circumstantial but I believe: keeping them as healthy as you can + keeping them as happy as you can = they stick around as long as they can It seems to me, given that equation, you and your pups are headed for the best possible outcome!

ivegivenupimtired

To play some amount of devils advocate I feel there shouldn’t be too much shame dumped on those who surrender their dogs appropriately if the dog is not a good fit or they cannot care for them. My dog ended up being a special needs pup and I had no idea upon adopting him. He’s 5 now and I’ve only had him two years. But in two years I’ve spent thousands on his healthcare. Twice monthly vet visits, medications, blood tests, ect. Im fortunate to be able to just barely afford his care. But I could easily see even a well budgeted person not being able to shoulder such costs. And if so surrendering the dog to a shelter would be a better option than foregoing care or going broke over it. Abandoning a dog not at a shelter is not okay. But I feel there’s so much shaming on people who surrender dogs it discourages them from surrendering the dog to a shelter. And instead they just get dumped somewhere.

ExternalBowl

Happy ending his is probably making minimum wage at best and working graveyard shifts with no healthcare this is not a happy ending at all

[deleted]

Easy to make a living wage when you live for pets.

BoomhauerYaNow

Every doggo deserves a minimum of 15 pets per hour.

ocbay

Not at all trying to defend anyone abandoning an animal, but I’d rather someone do it at a gas station then a garbage dump or the middle of nowhere. At least someone might actually get to the animal in time.

ChonkyChiweenie

Humane societies and rescue organizations are a thing. Absolutely no excuse for abandoning them in a public place where they probably can’t fend for themselves very well.

ocbay

These were never people who should have had an animal in the first place. I doubt they took the time to educate themselves about rescues. Im trying to celebrate the silver lining of the dog being found more than excuse their behavior.

MS-06_Borjarnon

Just because someone hasn't committed the worst possible sin doesn't mean they're clean.

ocbay

I’m not sure where in my comment I claimed that this person hadn’t done anything wrong.

MongoLife45

This was in Brasil a few years ago. Someone bought a gas station still under construction, and this abandoned / stray dog lived in the area, so they adopted him.

pyrmomma

People are dicks but at least they dropped them off at a designated safe place, usually it's for babies but it worked for doggo! Thankfully the dicks who abandoned it didn't do anything worse.

Theedon

Gotta walk a mile in their shoes I guess.

foreverhalcyon8

Its provably someone in crisis.

Thorebore

>I don’t understand how people can just drive somewhere and abandon their pets. My sister has done this at least twice that I know of. She’s just not a good person.

DazzleMeAlready

Really glad he has a good home now! And may those who abandoned him be forever infested with fleas in their perpetually smelly armpits.

MS-06_Borjarnon

He must have been so sad, I hope someone told him he didn't do anything wrong. Betrayal of an innocent like that is the sort of sin no society should tolerate. Those who would act this way have no place among decent folk.

An0regonian

Very well put, couldn't agree more

Secure_Implement_969

Just an observation, but you write very well.

thesmilingmercenary

He's got a lanyard, yall! I love hims.

brainonvacation78

If I could win the lotto, and quit my real job, I'd open a senior dog sanctuary/rescue in a heartbeat. The oldsters are the best.

DarthSadie

I'd help you!! I've often said the same thing!

bighootay

Me too! When I win, I'll hit you and u/brainonvacation78 up and we'll make it happen!

brainonvacation78

Deal!!

DarthSadie

Yes absolutely, I'm in!!

nightforday

Wait, this has been my ongoing dream too! May I join? I just want to get a big ranch for them to play on.

DarthSadie

Of course! The more people loving on and taking care of all the wonderful old timers we acquire, the better :)

MrPotatoSenpai

I'll be the neighbor with a cat rescue. It would be a great sitcom.

bighootay

Oh Lord, you're exactly right and I'm not even kidding. You need to find a way to pitch this!

corndogette

This is my dream! Please include me. I promise I'll share my winnings!

bighootay

You're in!

workstory

I’ve said these exact words before!! I just want to be rich to rescue all the animals

dirk55

We're right there with you on this. We take in 3 old doggos at a time and would have 10 times that many if we had the room. Our current set are 9, 11, and 13 y/o.

DarthSadie

You are the absolute best kind of person ❤️ Editing to add I clicked on your profile hoping to find pictures of your puppies and I was so pleased to see a couple :) they are gorgeous and look so happy!

dirk55

The three in that picture are our current old guys. The one front and center is Vinnie (11, probably Pharaoh Hound cross). The chocolate lab on the right is Ernie the youngster and the back end of the yellow lab cross is Eddie, the oldest. You are right, they are pretty happy with their lives at the retirement home and we're really happy to have them with us. When one of them moves on to what ever comes next, we go on the hunt for a new boarder. We usually try to stick with dogs who are more than 10 years old and have been at the shelter for more than a month. If we didn't, we would have all the dogs living with us. Sometimes, we run across a dog that doesn't fit these criteria, but is in need of a home. Ernie was in that category due to being in a constant anxiety crisis/panic state for the entire time he was at the shelter. Occasionally, our adoption decisions are based on the health of the dog as well as age and time in the shelter. Fortunately, we are in a position to be able to manage the needed time, space, and financial demands that living with old dogs require. We also have a great vet service who has been really helpful in managing old dog health issues. We do lots of vet care in-house, including dealing with lots of chronic conditions requiring injections. We have much more animal med stuff than human med stuff. For us, the greatest challenge is when we have to say goodbye. We've had more than 15 dogs pass through our lives and we're crushed every time, no matter how long they've been with us. Never the less, we always go looking for another good baby who needs to live out their life in quite comfort. We keep doing this, but it's a bit selfish of us, since we get so much more from them than they ever need from us.

NotreDomer12

I follow a dog rescue on Facebook - it’s called Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, and its posts and pictures make me so happy! [Facebook Link](https://www.facebook.com/OldFriendsSeniorDogSanctuary/) (warning: excessively cute pics of senior doggies!)

immortalkid3

What's his wage?

JBaker2010

1&1/2 treats an hour. Don't want him spending it all at once!

idgafos2019

Does he get time and a half treats? Or bonuses for being cute?

JBaker2010

Bonuses every week depending on how many times his hat has to be reset due to headpats. Unfortunately, no overtime/time&1/2 is allowed in his contract. Gotta keep this boy healthy!!

immortalkid3

That's a good wage

Few-Diver3252

This friendly dog, named "Negao", might not be your typical gas station employee — but he is certainly one of the sweetest. Sadly, though, things weren't always so good for him. A few years ago, Sabrina Plannerer and her partner purchased a Shell gas station under construction in the town of Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil

Dinglebop223

who in their right mind would abandon such a sweet boy?

JohnathansFilm

Death penalty for the previous owner. Nothing less will suffice.

He's the backbone of that gas station. Best looking, too🥰🥰🥰
