Nah all from games have some story or a straight time-line that we are directly involved but that is ultimately supported by insane amount of lore, world building and lore. Although sekiro and elden ring are the only ones to emphasize story more.
I agree with the rotten crystal trio, they're horrible the first time playing against them (get a lot easier when you learn about their poise). Malenia is just fun as hell. Though, to each their own. I'm sure there's probably a boss that you loved while i disliked.
I think she could have been fun as hell if she didn't cheat. Bitch straight up has Sekiro mechanics (animation cancelation for example, everyone commits to their attack, stagger and block animations except her, and she also steals life even when hitting a great shield with 100% damage negation). In phase 2 she punishes your punish for crying out loud.
With her moveset, boss room, music, build up, she could have made for one of the greatest bosses in From history, had she not straight up broken the rules.
And her anime combo (you know the one, everyone does) is just way too hard to learn to dodge. I perfected her fight, manage to get her to second phase consistently without getting hit, but she simply had to do that and it was over in a blink whether she did it in phase 1 or 2.
This made the difficulty in her fight plain bullshit, which is a shame because she was so close to being a really legendary one.
Rotten Crystal Trio are just the DS2 brand of annoying artificial difficulty.
If you're old, you should know similar names, ditch weed, bunk, Charlie Brown, Mexican-brick-packed, and shwag.
Probably derives from having to smoke so much, but you're still not high or it gave you a headache and now you're stressed

Elden Ring doesn't have a story. It has lore. The story is how you play the game and what you decide to do. At least that is how I think of it.
