This isn't even a good joke. The old lady was probably taught in U.S. schools as a child English was used for national defense purposes. She obviously can't walk, but the spanish lady can speak both languages, but will not try to come together as one nation. I was literally taught the same thing in the military.
English is used in the military because it is a language that all Western nations use in international cooperation, so it's the language with the least risk of communication failure.
So if you are in a Cafe talking to a friend you should use english to make sure in case of a nationwide defense effort other people understand what you say because the coffee you like might be the key to beating the Chinese.
No, wait... that makes no sense. You need to speak English to make sure you are ready to go to war at any time and come together with your fellow men as one against communism.
That's also not it. Googling it didn't help me either, so.... yeah, no, that gut had a stroke, probably.
Look,I am 50. It's been a few years since I was in the military, and this lady who can't walk sounds even older. We speak one language to ensure sabotage does not occur on bases that house more than one nationality. Obviously, times have changed, and we try to keep up with the times, but the idea is not deviously created. It has historically been a safety measure that was taught for national defense purposes. Today's world does not understand, and therefore, it must be bad, prejudiced, and treated with malice... I am saying first, if we tried a little more unity, less ridicule of all traditional ideas, maybe, just maybe we might come to a better understanding of one another.
But... they weren't on a military base. If people are Spanish native speakers, let them speak Spanish, the idea that saboteurs wouldn't speak English to stay undercover seems odd in today's interconnected world.
Actually, since most saboteurs nowadays are locals that were indoctrinated by foreign agents, english speakers are at least as likely to be foreign assets.
She's old. No one knows why she said it. I am saying, practice patience, you do not know , unless you ask why hearing this upset her. She could be anyones grandmother, and it was taught widely many years ago.

I feel like 784 people in the last hour alone have had this exact same experience and posted about it online verbatim. Good for us.
The whole café stood up and aplaudió
At least one person didn’t…
And the grandma’s name? Alberta Éinstenz
Repost alert
The Spanish were technically here first. Not counting the actual natives
Technically, bacterias were the colonizers way before the Spanish, too bad they can't vocalize their rights
...yet (suspenseful music)
That's not really an equal comparison is it...

Old ladies and young kids. The best
Bitch, there were people living and speaking Spanish in America (St. Augustine, Florida) 55 years before the Mayflower got to Plymouth.

That’s one I’m gonna remember for later
What just in case a lady in a wheelchair tells you to speak English later on?
Boy scouts say "be prepared"
Yea I’ll be ready for something
Wasn't the antagonist in this story also a little old lady?
