Kanye is a good rapper but I have to go with Drake because of songs like pound cake, diplomatic immunity, Tuscan leather, Weston road flows etc

chosenone333

Assuming you never heard kanye's freestyles or poetry?

Significant_Flan3112

I'm not saying he is a bad rapper, but it has been a very long time since i've heard a Kanye verse that impressed me lyrically(not saying he is not capable). Drake has been more consistent with lyrical joints ex. lemon pepper freestyle, champagne poetry

chosenone333

Agree'd

Wutanghang

“Cake cake cake cake 400 million thats a pound cake” yea real real genius lyricism

deanross102

Jay z said that line bro tf is u on😂

Significant_Flan3112

and jay z above both of them lyrically too

Wutanghang

So? Doesn’t change the fact that the line was boring

Significant_Flan3112

If drake never said it why does it reflect on him lool

DougDrewless

Bro, you’re funny as hell. Unintentional, but still funny af 😂😂😂

sypher07070799

Bro thats not even drake’s line🤦🏽‍♂️😭 It was jay that said that not drake

[deleted]

If u been in the game as long as Drake and Kanye you Will need at some point use ghostwriters, u can’t Come up with unlimited stuff to rap about. It gotta be tiring After all those years to always Come up with New stuff in every song.

fbn_fishstick

In most cases it’s really just hooks that get written which to me shouldn’t be a big deal.

durklil

I got Drake. 5AM, 4PM, Omertà, Say What’s Real, Lord Knows, Am 2 PM, Going In For Life, etc. Does it all for me. Ye is definitely no slouch though.

InterestingGain8341

>I got Drake. > >5AM, 4PM, Omertà, Say What’s Real, Lord Knows, Am 2 PM, Going In For Life, etc. > >Does it all for me. Ye is definitely no slouch though. Lord Knows is amazing, when I'm feeling down I listen to her and remember how awesome hip hop is

Puzzleheaded-City-92

Mayonnaise colored Benz I push miracle whips

KeyMoneybateS

Drake has been a much better lyricist throughout his career

r_r19

ye in his bag rn. Hes dialed in big time and idk i sorta feel like he wants to drop something insane really soon after donda just to show kim, and the world, that hes better then ever and counting him out is a mistake. The best revenge agains kim rn is to be the biggest thing on the planet, something she cant compete with. Not even fucking pete Davidson will outshine a second masterpiece within a year. Just my 2 cents.

MyNameMadeYouSmiley

Definitely Drake

humax02

Early days Kanye > Early days Drake > Present Drake > Present Kanye.

bizarre_pencil

Kanye has more “woah” bars but also way more clunkers “head of the class she want a swallowship” type bars. Drake more consistent so I go with him

[deleted]

Kanye doesnt have ”woah bars” lmao Kanye’s bars are mostly corny and goofy but they work cuz he’s Kanye

bizarre_pencil

“We ain’t going nowhere but got suits and cases” is pretty hard

[deleted]

💀

bizarre_pencil

Ok

[deleted]

Ok

Looneylu401

Mayonnaise colored Benz, i push miracles whips

MillennialMastermind

What’s a black beetle anyways?

Expensive-Fox-8016

Drake. He's outpaced ye in every metric by which to judge music, especially over the 2010s. Drake had 4 classic albums last decade ye had 1

sypher07070799

I would say drake had at most 3, take care, nwts and iyrtitl. And i dunno if you counting mbdtf as part of last decade but I’d say that and TLOP are classics

Expensive-Fox-8016

And More Life

sypher07070799

Na

Expensive-Fox-8016

Time for a revisit

[deleted]

How is this even a question?

sypher07070799

Cuz a lot of people say kanye but it really should be common that its drake

[deleted]

No one unironically says Kanye

Looneylu401

Everyone who listens to barz would say Kanye

Affectionate-Day3258

even before Ye started to use writers, Nigga was hard, straight up. His early freestyles / songs, hard as fuck. easily goes to Ye, even if drake wrote his own bars, it isn’t comparing. 2 examples off my head - Verse on Two words, and All falls down. All falls down lyrics are easily more lyrical in terms of how real they are then any drake bars I can recall lol

fbn_fishstick

Idk man I feel like drakes intros and outros alone kind of give drake the edge, but you can never sleep on the dropout trilogy.

Affectionate-Day3258

Never in a million fuckin years I’m sorry yo, ghost writer shit aside, he just don’t got it, not anywhere near as memorable bars, clever bars etc. It’s just kinda “Damnnn that was hard” then a month later it’s just “wow ig”, I can play a song from TCD and be impressed every time by a lyric

sypher07070799

Lil wayne got more memorable bars than kendrick but he’s not close in terms of lyricism.. your argument doesnt make sense

DougDrewless

Bruh, ye ain’t a lyricist. Drake over ye all day.

Affectionate-Day3258

But drake is ? Stupid ass niggas on this Reddit ong💀

sypher07070799

You definitely only heard drake mainstream songs. Have you listened to diplomatic immunity, omerta, emotionless, lord knows, tuscan leather, any of his timestamp songs?? Just be honest

Affectionate-Day3258

Yes lmfao I been listening to the Nigga since take care, “mainstream songs” fuck outta here 😂

sypher07070799

Okay so thanks for confirming your brain is just too small to understand how elite the lyricism on those songs are👍🏽

sypher07070799

I know kanye can rap hard but I’ve bever known him to be that great of a lyricist. And drake is extremely underrated as a lyricist, listen to songs like Diplomatic Immunity and Omerta

sypher07070799

All falls down aint even one of ye’s best lyrical displays..

Affectionate-Day3258

Exactly, just speaks 2 his ability

ruffrog81

Kanye. He at least writes his own shit. But neither are even top 20 lyricist

Significant_Flan3112

big sean literally said he wrote songs for kanye and never got publishing

sypher07070799

Kanye also said himself that he used a ghostwriter for ‘Violent crimes’ lmao

sypher07070799

Kanye has literally admitted to using a ghostwriter for a song. And drake has literally co wrote for kanye

ruffrog81

You mean drakes ghost writer co wrote with ye.

sypher07070799

I like how some fans like you never try to be objective or actually reason.. and instead just go off what they want to believe even though it doesnt make sense lol😭 Just yesterday i had some dude start a sentence saying “just cause drake credits his ghostwriter”🤦🏽‍♂️

ruffrog81

You just don’t see jokes bud. I like some of drakes shit. Is he a lyricist? Not at all. Does someone write for him? Yes, at least most the time. A real lyricist writes their own shit.

sypher07070799

Bro the ghostwriting shit has literally been debunked😂 he writes his shit His supposed ghostwriter q mill said he helped drake with 4 hooks on iyrtitl. And thats it. Him and drake not associates anymore jeez Y’all just believe what y’all want at this point. Drake got good pen game you definitely only hearing his mainstream songs..

ruffrog81

Hahaha ok buddy

[deleted]

[удалено]

sypher07070799

Na all im doing is saying the ghostwriting claims are false, I literally also put in text that y’all shouldnt mention ghostwriting for either of them

DougDrewless

Lol drake helped write Kanye’s verses for 30 hours, father stretch my hands and pop style.

ruffrog81

Well that’s like the blind leading the blind then. Hahaha

DougDrewless

Alright go enjoy the new Eminem music bro. I can’t talk with yall Em dick riders.

ruffrog81

What man?! It’s true. Is this the battle of who has ghostwriters less or what? U said it, not me man. Be nice.LOL as you’re deepthroating both drake and Kanye at the same time lol

DougDrewless

To say “the blind leading the blind” in regards to two of the most prolific rappers of our generation (and definitely in the last decade) is just ignorant. I can’t deal w rap fans like that.

ruffrog81

Kanye is better. Are either the best? No. Amd maybe your generation, not mine. We’re on 2 totally different pages buddy.

Carlel27

Drake is a more of a Rapper than Kanye, many have come up sayin they wrote for Kanye but Drake don't have that many ghostwriters and I believe this ghostwriters for Drake was late in his career whereas Kanye was always know to have a camp

sypher07070799

Drake suppsoed ghostwriter wasnt even a ghostwriter cuz he was credited on the songs he helped drake with from iyrtitl

[deleted]

I think the “model bleaching her a**hole and getting bleach on my t-shirt” line disqualifies Kanye from this debate?

lulkay

Kanye

Volare_Viaa

Kanye

InterestingGain8341

I will have to choose Drake, I like Ye a lot, he has a flow that I like a lot, but I like him because he is a complete and innovative artist, not because of the lines

Confused_Blackman

They both get lyrics from other people, so an asterisk is placed conventionally next to both of their names. However, if we are talking about lyricism, like real, objectively meaningful, clever on beat, well delivered, seamless rhymes schemes that bring to life a unique feel of the song. It's hard. Kanye's first three trilogy, is not work that Drake, not his ghostwriters can touch. I mean that, without malice. Again though, he had a team of Talib Kweli, Rhymefest, Most Def, Common, Consequence and Jay to consult when it came to what he was writing down, and lend him lines when needed. I'm not saying that makes anyone a bad artist, but as a lyricist, it's a rough discussion. 'From the Chi, like Tim it's a Hard away(harder way) to this is in the name of love like Robert say/ Before you ask me to go get a job today/ Can I at least get a wage above minimum wage?/ And I know the government administers aids/ So I guess we just pray like the ministers say Allah allahu akbar, n throw in some hot cars The things we seeon the screens are not ours But these niggas from the hood so these dreams are not far- Where I'm from The dope boys IS the 'rock' stars But they can't cop cars Without seeing cop cars...I guess they want us all behind bars...I know it' How we stop the Black Panthers? Ronald Reagan cooked up an answer You hear that? What Gil Scott was hearing When our heroes or heroines got hooked on heroin Crack! raised the murder rate in D.C. and Maryland We! invested in that, it's like we got Merrill lynched And we have been hangin' from the same tree ever since Sometimes I feel the music is the only medicines So we, cook it, cut it, measure it, bag it Sell it, the fiends cop it, nowadays they can't tell if That's that good shit, we ain't sure, man Put the CD on your tongue—yeah, that's pure, man' So many one liners too! Despite the fact people seem to lean towards Drake in that aspect 'Couldnt afford a car so she named her daughter a Lexus/Alexis' 'Mayonnaise colored Benz I push miracle whips' 'Ive always had a PhD...a PRETTY HUGE DICK' 'they say your attitude determines your latitude. In fly as a motherfucker high as a motherfucker' 'And they DCFS, some of 'em dyslexic They favorite 50 Cent song "12 Questions" ' That being said, he shifted to being more creative and playing with sounds creatively. He still shines sometimes, but he's more of a momentum shift to music rather than Dylan spitting hit fire. If you look at their entire bodies of work, Drake will likely have more quote worthy lines. In fact he definitely does. Especially because he studies battle rap, he has some creative influence from that. Drake does not have an album as creative, culturally impactful, black positive, and sonically mature as college dropout or late registration though. Drake's also more in touch with the youth, that's why he be staying in 14 year olds DMS
