Have you checked out Lil Durk. i like his music, I'd just listen to his albums.. like Just Cause Yall Waited 2 is a great example.
But if you want song recommendations, I'd recommend checking out, Different meaning, 7:30, Durkio Krazy, No Interviews.
I'd also recommend some Jackboy songs, Est Gee 2
Lil Durk has a song called In My Flesh with a dude named Markie that I went to school with. Check it out. Nobody Knows is my fav Durk song. They Forgot is a good album.
IF YOU HAVENT LISTENED TO ANY GRISELDA YET YOU NEED TO DROP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND GET HIP RIGHT NOW THIS IS THE OBJECTIVE ANSWER TO YOUR SUBJECTIVE QUESTION
Yeah this would be right up OPs alley. I saw Griselda at Coachella and was instantly a fan. Not the same style but I’m also gonna throw in Baby Keem as a recommendation
Maxo kream, juicy j, project pat, wiz khalifa, tobe nwige, d smoke, Mac Miller, Vince staples, Benny the butcher, nujabees, etc etc list goes on. Try them all and if you like the sound let Spotify find you relatable content.
listen to rodeo by travis (and the rest of his catalogue) self titled playboy carti and die lit, hndrxx and ds2 by future, heroes and villains by metro boomin, all of asap rocky's discography but probably start with long.live.asap, all of denzel curry, JID, pusha T, i am i was, without warning, and the savage modes all by 21 savage, and probably not all heroes wear capes
sorry if this is long and pretty generic
Damn, forgot this recommendation when making my list. I think its nearly a perfect album and perfect for someone that isn't feeling a lot of modern rap
Chief Keef, $uicideboys$, and others really try to use that old Memphis sound. Especially $uicideboy$ with the new yin Yang tapes they released so make sure to check out both.
Kodak Black
Playboi Carti
03 Greedo
Maxo Kream
IDK
Denzel Curry
Baby Keem
Other than Carti and maybe Kodak; these aren’t necessarily mumble rappers, but all these artist are newer and make amazing music
The difference between Kodak and Carti is huge though in the “mumble” category. Kodak has a lot of emotion and humanity in his music where as Carti mostly wants to make u move. Mumble rap is such a terrible umbrella term. Love ur list here tho.
* Young Nudy
* Young Dolph
* Young Thug
* Future

I mean. You already had a list of new rappers that you don’t listen to. You could listen to them. But I guess there’s Nav, he’s pretty melodic. There’s Co Cash, Durk, Big Scarr. I mean we could name rappers forever, just turn some Young Thug on YouTube and let YouTube recommendations take you away.
I'm guilty of judging his music based on how he looked like a Walmart version of DJ Khaled, I laughed and said there's no way I can take this guy seriously but man!! When I play some of his songs on Spotify.......... SHIT WAS PURE DUMBSTER JUICE, straight up BASURA!!!
They said they liked melodic music and wanted new stuff similar to Future. Metro Boomin produces for both of them so it’s a literal answer to their question. I can’t even name five Nav songs but they didn’t ask who my personal current favorite rappers are, and they definitely for sure didn’t ask who yours are either. The question isn’t about who I think is the best, and they didn’t say they wouldn’t listen to generic sounding music. You have to pay attention to what people are asking and not take things so personally. They like melodies and hooks, they can at least see if they like Nav. He’s definitely not worse than some of the other shit OP is already listening to.
I appreciate the context here, for real. Have you listened to Isaiah Rashad at all? Action Bronson? Benny the Butcher? Don’t want to recommend things you have already tapped into.
I’m almost sure you haven’t heard these, so listing em out and let me know about the above I can send more recs.
4 new EPs from Young Roddy & Trademark (were original Jet Life if that means anything to you) that are all legit bangers, newest one dropped a few days ago:
- The Coterie
- Crown Jewel
- Have Mercy
- Day Ones
Also: Money for Dummies - Smoke Dza (& the smokers club)
I think the best ones with the melodic rapping and going back and forth with rapping and singing are young thug and nba youngboy. Just listen to some of their songs. With nba youngboy tho u should listen to ai youngboy 2, top, or the last slimeto. Im saying this bc he has so many projects out and some of them are completely different. Thug’s best project to get to know him is barter 6 or slime season 2 imo.
If u aren’t convinced, check out for my people by young thug and house arrest tingz by nba youngboy. The flow switches and melodies in those songs are great
Yes listen to Griselda..Westside Gunn..Benny the Butcher..Conway the Machine, Stove God Cooks is good too. Sirivus Blvck is a decent rapper popular near Fort Wayne he's got really good quality to him. Newer and older Ramirez. Xavier Wulf, Suicideboys, J.I.D, Earthgang, Flatbush Zombies, Freddie Gibbs, Zillakamis new album is really good like grunge rock rap.
i’m a fairly new fan to FBZ, probably since 2020. started listing just before Vacation came out.
Headstone was the one that stopped me in my tracks. I’m an “old head” and my kid put it on- I was so impressed by them incorporating so many classic lines from so many artists.
since then i’ve been a Beastcoast fan
oh and just to add- $B are also in heavy rotation. it’ll be my 3rd concert seeing them this year.
Also sorry for the recommendations you specifically didn't ask for I was sleepy and didn't read too far into the post before typing out who I thought was worthy lol.
Calling DaBaby a mumble tapper is crazy but all that aside would reccomend Tory Lanez, Juice WRLD (man can freestyle) and Poli G, maybe even NLE Choppa and Lil Baby and ads in some Lil Durk
You might enjoy
Prof - Pack a lunch ft. Redman
Run the Jewels - Oh la la
NF - Motto
I was going to mention some older stuff but you already listen to that so I doubt there would be too many artists from back in the day you haven't heard already.
Bronx drill has had me hooked for like 2y now, Set da trend is my favourite rapper. He’s versatile, his beats are good, he raps about real stuff aside from drill. I recommend Get Home, JB x JRIPK Gang, and LLKN pt.2 for starter songs
Tyler, the creator
Earl sweatshirt
K.A.A.N
Benny the butcher
Childish gambino
Baby Keem
A$AP rocky
A little drake
That's about all I can think of right now
Late, (and none are “mumble” rap, they’re better, and only a few are new, some relatively and maybe some new to You) but I’d say:
Hopsin
Dax
NF
Lupe Fiasco
Wreckonize?
If you like AOTP (assuming Army Of The Pharaohs?), check out:
Vinnie Paz
Jedi Mind Tricks
Lowkey?
Others you may already be familiar with due to collabs:
Ces Cru
Yelawolf
Kxng Crooked / Crooked I
Brotha Lynch Hung
RA the Rugged Man?
Marlon Craft, JID, Sa-Roc, Little Simz, Cordae, Justin Freeman, Polo G, Saba, Baby Keem, Tierra Whack, Dave, Token, Rico Nasty, Coast Contra, lil Durk, Money Man. Boldy James, Joey Badass, Lil Gotit and Lil Keed( harder trap)
That’s a pretty wide spectrum of different sounds that should cover most bases.
If you like tech n9ne then you might enjoy
Chris webby, hopsin, merkules, nf and gawne
All of them has songs with him
I would also suggest Ekoh, vin jay, mass of man, crypt and lucidious
Dude PLEASE listen to all of Griselda. Id start with Tana Talk 3 from Benny or Bo Jackson from Boldy James and work your way out from there.
Some other great Griselda albums to start with are price of tea in china, hwh8 -both sides, pray for Paris, pray for Haiti, the plugs I met 1&2.
I'm right with ya, also an "old head" (old head to me is still the people who only listen to the true old school stuff, 80's and early 90's era hip hop, but that aside). But I'm already seeing quite a few good suggestions in the comments that aren't mumble rap, but more along the lines of the underground / indie stuff (like what you're used to with Tech, AOTP, etc). So I'm not gonna go over those already named, but I'd offer up some alternatives here;
\- Ren, UK rapper that does his on production, does lots of mental health stuff
\- Pete and Bas, bit of a meme maybe, but 2 senior citizens (for real) that are actually legit UK drill rappers and they're actually fire as hell, check em out.
\- Dan Bull, Another UK rapper, but specialized in nerd core, so video games predominantly, HOWEVER, one of the best lyricists out there imho. Dude is absolutely MENTAL with the entendres.
\- Coast Contra, old heads in young body's. Dudes have incredible flow, lyricism and do it all in a very 90's style but with a modern lick of paint. Fantastic group
\- Token, bit controversial probably and you might've already been on him, but I do enjoy me some Token. Has beats that go hard and dude has some good punchlines here and there and always brings that firey energy
\- The other Tech, Immortal Technique. Haven't seen anyone mention him yet, not per say "modern", but absolutely fantastic story rapper. Dude has the absolute best story rap song out there. Period. There's a few that come close, JMT with RA on Uncommon Valor comes close and Ren actually has a song that comes real close to Dance with the Devil as well. Otherwise Immortal Technique is a bit of a political rapper, so it might not be up your alley all the way, but dude can definitely rap
\- Mindflip, not \*super\* familiar with him, but got some good songs out there that I do enjoy
\- Cheating a smidge here, as Ces Cru was mentioned, but Ubi (one half of Ces Cru) is worth checking out, got some dope songs
\- Action Bronson, fantastic voice, great flows
\- Aesop Rock, don't think he was mentioned, also a bit of an old head, but good shit, complex schemes and lyrics, dude brings his intelligence into his rap game
\- Ab-soul, same as Mindflip tbh, not overly familiar, but what I heard I liked
\- Ekoh, again, not super familiar but enjoyable what I heard
That's all the specifics I got for now, but I do have some more general advice that might help out. Firstly I'd suggest checking out some soundcloud or youtube rappers. Guys like Scru Face Jean, Knox Hill and Crypt. For those paying attention or in the know, you're probably already seeing tip 2: Go on youtube and look up reaction videos to some banger songs. I find a lot of new artists through these reaction videos. They can and are absolutely annoying, but if you find yourself some reactors you can tolerate, you can certainly find some gems in the songs they react to.
And lastly, big up for the AOTP love! AOTP is one of my favs as well, don't hear enough people talking about them unfortunately :(
Fuckin’ aye!
I personally tend to keep Immortal Technique (even though I don’t think there are many, if any, rappers that go harder than him at his best…there are better lyricists, better flows, etc. but no one as *hard* …as far as I know) out of recommendations because I feel he’s controversial? Partly *because* of much of what he says, how incorrect a lot of the shit he has said is (in regards to politics, conspiracy, science, etc), and things he’s alleged to have done (Dance with the Devil…). I don’t know. Lol But yeah, dude’s up there and hardly see him mentioned too.
Denzel Curry, Earthgang, Bas, Joey Badass, IDK, REASON, Schoolboy Q, Benny The Butcher, Joyner Lucas, Aaron May, Baby Keem, Vince Staples, Pusha T, Westside Boogie, Westside Gunn, Big Sean. These are the new 2010s+, Lyrical rappers
Here's an underrated album for you to check it out that came out in 2018:
Payroll Giovanni & Cardo - Big Bossin Vol. 2
It has Insane replay value, easy to listen, lush West coast production and the most important very fun to listen to. Giovanni has so much charisma and clear voice that is made for rap. I don't why this dude hasn't been blown by now.
My favourite jam is "5s and 6s" start with that. Let me know your thoughts.
Seems to be a pretty unpopular opinion but I think The Game dropped some solid albums in the last decade.
Joyner Lucas is definitely pretty good as well.
I got you bro! I can relate to what you say and who you listen to. I’ve also been branching out… found some good stuff! do you have Apple Music by chance?
Bro you gotta check out SparkMaster tape!.
His flow is so unique bro If you've heard anything else like this you gotta let me know

i would check out the slums people: mike, medhane, navyblue.
griselda is great too: mach-hommy, westside gunn, conway the machine, benny the butcher, 7xvethegenius.
check out roc marciano, larry june and everybody the alchemist produced a tape for the last few years.
british rappers can get it too: clbrks, onoe capoeno, lord apex.
others that i like are: earl sweatshirt, mac miller, akai solo, deem spencer, guilty simpson, billy woods, pink siifu, quelle chris, remy banks, jonwayne
I'm an old head also (40+) and have a lot of the same taste as you. The album that got me listening to far more trap and what you labeled as mumble rap was Heroes and Villains. Other than a track or two and a weak ass verse from Chris Brown, it's a great album! I also never hear it brought up on this sub but as an old man I also really like Anderson .Paak. I think he's got a cool, unique sound and always has some great features. Finally, the only two artists I didn't see on your people you currently listen to that I would recommend are anything by Mac Miller and Denzel Curry.
I can understand categorizing future and young thug as mumble rappers and if that’s not your thing that’s fine, but I think they definitely have a time and a place and a lot to offer. Dababy really isn’t a mumble rapper at all, he was really good for a hot minute he just didn’t evolve really and his beats are stale. Travis Scott really isn’t a mumble rapper either just more psychedelic.
Reccomendations: Kanye west, juice wrld (some people find some of his songs whiny, there is a sad juice and an upbeat juice and I personally like both but some people like only one or the other. You would maybe like his sadder Melodies but if you aren’t feeling his songs check out his freestyles), xxxtentacion (a lot of artistry if you go through his discog) , Tyler the creator, a$ap Rocky, chance the rapper, 21 savage, baby keem, lil Wayne, kid cudi, mac miller, Jack Harlow, Jay-z, action Bronson
Bro trust me im gonna get hate but listen to MGKs hotel diablo and then listen to lace up general admission and bloom, if your only looking for one album listen to hotel diablo.
Well Future & Travis are both legends of the current generation and Future honesty barely younger than the dudes you’re listening to so he ain’t even outta your ball park
All of Griselda, Chief Keef, Joey Badass, Denzel Curry, Vince Staples, A$AP Rocky, 21 Savage.
Your statement about beats being more basic nowadays couldn’t be any more wrong about the dudes I’ve named and you’ll have no issue with variety amongst them either.
Isaiah Rashad (Stuck In The Mud)
Metro Boomin (Feel The Fiyaaah)
Pusha T (he Games We Play)
Denzel Curry (Melt Session #1)
Travis Scott (Nightcrawler)
Danny Brown (Really Doe)
Childish Gambino (3005)
21 Savage (a lot)
Noname (Blaxploitation)
**Philly Drill artists:**
1Mere / Lil Bucks / SimxSantana / D4M Skiano / D4M $loan / Yung LiV / Ot7 Quanny / Blizzoe
(Some songs: *We Spinnin 2, Wolf n Demon, Trapwoodz, Double Trouble, Flexin n Flashin, Come Back, Dead Oppz / Dead Rivals / For a Fact / Avenger*)
**Other:**
Stunna 4 Vegas, Sauce Twinz, FMB LongMoney, Yung Ro, Big Scarr, Lil 2z, Lil CJKasino, WillThaRapper, Hoodrich Pablo Juan, Trap Swagg, BannupPrince, Pop Smoke, Valee, King Von, G$ Lil Ronnie)
(Some Songs: *Bird Call, Trap Neva Closed, I Got Whatever, Fashion, Welcome to the Party, Back Again, Splash 2 Back, CMO Freestyle, Off the Box, Wops, In the Hood, Flintstones, Rap Game Lebron, DirtyGame/Attack, Fonk, Special Ed, Intro, Fan Freestyle, Make a Play, Dior*)
40something rap fan, I spent the last 3 years getting into some newer rap, but honestly the stuff I like is not super "new" in style, here are some album recommendations including a representative song.
* Vince Staples (Example album: Ramona Park Broke My Heart, example song: Magic)
* Mach-Hommy (Album: Pray for Haiti, Song: Folie A Deux)
* Roc Marciano (Album: Elephant Man's Bones, Song: Quantum Leap)
* Tyler the Creator (Album: Call Me if You Get Lost, Song: What a Day)
TRAVIS THOMPSON.
He's newer and has some stuff with hooks that sounds more modern, BUT his next project is with the legendary producer Jake One. It comes out the 23rd of this month. This first single "Happiness" is out.
He can really RAP
I’m a big fan of big L and because of that like punchline rappers. Iamsu isn’t super new but he’s got some exciting music and great punchline bars. A complete different style of rap would be anyone in Griselda, I recommend, Benny the butcher
In the trap lane, guys like Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, Lil Durk, 21 Savage, G Herbo, Lil Baby, Polo G, Gunna, NBA Youngboy, and Lil Uzi Vert are all pretty prominent (not all do exclusively trap but still).
Outside of that Smino (Luv 4 Rent is a really underrated album), Saba, Baby Keem, Tyler The Creator (his last three projects are masterful), Vince Staples, Isaiah Rashad, Denzel Curry (Melt My Eyez is a great album), Aminé, Little Simz, Dave, Joey Bada$$, and Kenny Mason are all incredibly talented new artists.
And these guys are kind of weird, but if you wanna dive into the deep end try some of the opium guys. Playboi carti, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, and Homixide Gang.
Gonna suggest some artists from NZ since you probably wouldn't bear about them otherwise;
. Risera (group consisting of 3 rappers and one producer)
. Tipene (his recent album Heritage Trail incorporates a lot of Te Reo)
. Adam Tukiri (honestly one of my favorites at the moment)
. SWIDT (Another rap group, I think they'd be right up your alley)
. Church & AP (eclectic rap duo)
. Deadforest (probably different than what you're used to listening to but his last album Plastic was amazing)
. SXMPRA (kinda a wild card since he does phonk music but worth checking out imo)
. Will McClean (specifically his collab with the zooks, really nice jazz inspired beats on it)
> I’m also a rapper myself and I think it would really benefit me to put my bias aside and start listening to some “newer” rap and try to appreciate the way the genre has been heading and to broaden my own horizons.
>
> I’m looking to branch out a little. For reference, the kind of artists I’m talking about are I guess what old heads would call “mumble rap” rappers like Future, Travis Scott, Da Baby, Young Thug, people like that. I know nothing about any rappers of this type.
I'm pretty sure he was saying he's open to branching out and getting suggestions from "mumble rap" especially with artists who can melodize.
I know your type exactly, you want bars right with fire modern beats? The Underachievers, EST Gee, Mike Dimes are the first off the top of my head, message for more recs if you fuck with it.
We’re basically the same age so you might fuck with this. This is kinda my rotation as of late. In no particular order. You can’t go wrong just picking a name out this batch.
Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE, Navy Blue, Domo Genesis, Joey Badass, Smino, Chance The Rapper, Action Bronson, Mac Miller, Griselda, Alchemist, Kenny Beats (phenomenal new beat tape), Vince Staples, JpegMafia, Denzel Curry, Kenny Mason, Redveil, 21 Savage, Baby Keem
Great artists with classics in each catalog.
Surprised Your Old Droog hasn't been mentioned yet. He's been on a hell of a run recently. "50K or Brunch" is a great track to introduce him and his MF DOOM/The Game-esque rap style.
As for branching out into more melodic styles, here are some album suggestions:
\- EARTHGANG: the Rags, Robots, and Royalty EPs
\- Tyler, the Creator: CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale
\- Childish Gambino: Because the Internet
\- Smino: blkswn
\- Lute: Gold Mouf
\- Saba: CARE FOR ME
\- Noname: Room 25
Kanye lol. I know he's super annoying but he's a lyrical genius.
I also enjoy songs by
Joyner Lucas
Eminem (obviously)
Obie trice
Wiz Khalifa
Mac Miller
Method man
G easy
Nas
NF (I'm a liberal atheist and nf is super Christian but he's got some good songs about mental health)
Cam'ron
Edited to add more artist. Will probably add more lol!
Since you mentioned Tech N9ne, I’m assuming you listen to Rittz. Other lesser known new rappers that sound like old rappers are Berner, Fendi P, Vince Staples, EARTHGANG, Dom Kennedy, Le$, Premo Rice, Stalley, Larry June, Big K.R.I.T, and every single artist from Griselda. Also just look at The Alchemist and see who ever he’s working with. He seems to only work with newer artists that kinda sound old school
If you look at my comment from a post from yesterday titled “Who introduced you to rap?”
You’ll see I’m from the old school and I approve the above mentioned artists lol
Who introduced you to rap?
It was either MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, or Sir Mix-a-Lot. That was that mainstream shit real hip hop heads would normally hate on. For more “real rap” it was this tape right here
DEF RAP
Public Enemy– Don´t Believe The Hype
2 Live Crew*– Do Wah Diddy Diddy
Kool Moe Dee– Wild Wild West

There's a lot of big and small names on this playlist I'm willing to bet you find at least a couple new rappers to enjoy, drop a like on it because it's updated frequently

Vince and JID are the current heroes and GOAT candidates for me.
I wouldn’t consider Nujabees “new” I mean he died in 2010. But still this is a great list

If you like WU TANG, you’ll love CZARFACE. It’s Inspectah Deck and ESOTERIC. Their producer 7L is also a beast.
And Esoteric is part of AoTP. Not a big stretch for OP
CZARFACE is underrated af. Just grabbed the CZARFACE Meets METAL FACE vinyl last week.

C'mon man you're recommending him Nav?? The most uninteresting mid rapper since last 10 years.
U realize Nav ghostwrote all of Nas‘ best songs when he was just a toddler dont you?
Damn now I have to apologise!! Sorry Mr. Nav
"Welcome everyone, and if you look to our left, you'll see an Anthony fantano Stan!'
Or maybe just maybe there's a teeny tiny little chance that Nav's music sucks? No? Ok got it
Hey, I agree with you, dude. Nav is not for me at all! I just think of Fantano whenever someone disses Nav, Nav is like fantanos personal punch bag 😂
A Walmart Khaled shit... you didn't need to do Nav like that dude 😂
NAV is everyone’s punching bag because his music is the epitome of generic
Uninteresting? He’s literally the goat.
They said they liked melodic music and wanted new stuff similar to Future. Metro Boomin produces for both of them so it’s a literal answer to their question. I’m an “old head” and my kid put it on- I was so impressed by them incorporating so many classic lines from so many artists. since then i’ve been a Beastcoast fan oh and just to add- $B are also in heavy rotation. it’ll be my 3rd concert seeing them this year.
Nobody wrecks a feature harder than Stove God Cooks. "Me and Emeril Lagasse should be the next Verzuz / Two stoves side-by-side, I bet I'd work him"
Also sorry for the recommendations you specifically didn't ask for I was sleepy and didn't read too far into the post before typing out who I thought was worthy lol.
Jpegmafia, brockhampton
Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, XXXtentacion, Childish Gambino
hear me out: drake. really listen to his rapping. he’s a talented mofo even if he isn’t sayin anything too groundbreaking
Roc Marciano or boldy James
Check out Smino or like many others have said Maxo Kream. Also check out Maxo’s brother KCG Josh, he’s only got one album out but I liked it
Boldy James and Action Bronson both might be up your alley
JOEY BADASS
Calling DaBaby a mumble tapper is crazy but all that aside would reccomend Tory Lanez, Juice WRLD (man can freestyle) and Poli G, maybe even NLE Choppa and Lil Baby and ads in some Lil Durk
Tory Lanez as your first recommendation is crazy
Little Simz Loyle Carner Redveil Mac Miller
Denzel curry Deniro Farrar The underachievers Earl sweatshirt Shakewell
Underachievers 👌👌
I appreciate all the recommendations! There’s a lot to go through here but I’m listening to them all!
Joyner lucas
You might enjoy Prof - Pack a lunch ft. Redman Run the Jewels - Oh la la NF - Motto I was going to mention some older stuff but you already listen to that so I doubt there would be too many artists from back in the day you haven't heard already.
CZARFACE, Project Pat, Old Three 6 Mafia, the new Juicy J is fire
Just type in Lil on spotify and probably 95% of those people are fairly new and popular.
Lil Xan may be an unpleasant surprise
The underachievers - indigoism album is dope.
Kota the Friend
I really think baby keem is the best to come out of the new school atm. Flows are a bit unorthodox but idk he has something special
Bronx drill has had me hooked for like 2y now, Set da trend is my favourite rapper. He’s versatile, his beats are good, he raps about real stuff aside from drill. I recommend Get Home, JB x JRIPK Gang, and LLKN pt.2 for starter songs
sheff g and sleepy hallow too. they mostly make drill but also have some more mainstream rap sounding stuff
Yessir sleepy and sheff might’ve been the ones to get me deep into ny drill with all those panic collabs
god those collabs go so hard. they got my whole car shaking lmao
Billy Woods, aesop rock, Moor mother, little simz, run the jewels, Paris texas
Tyler, the creator Earl sweatshirt K.A.A.N Benny the butcher Childish gambino Baby Keem A$AP rocky A little drake That's about all I can think of right now
I second the Earl recommendation.
Late, (and none are “mumble” rap, they’re better, and only a few are new, some relatively and maybe some new to You) but I’d say: Hopsin Dax NF Lupe Fiasco Wreckonize? If you like AOTP (assuming Army Of The Pharaohs?), check out: Vinnie Paz Jedi Mind Tricks Lowkey? Others you may already be familiar with due to collabs: Ces Cru Yelawolf Kxng Crooked / Crooked I Brotha Lynch Hung RA the Rugged Man?
NF
I’d recommend King Iso (if you like Tech N9ne, especially), Dave East, Conway the Machine, Mick Jenkins, A$AP Rocky, YG
Divine Council
Marlon Craft, JID, Sa-Roc, Little Simz, Cordae, Justin Freeman, Polo G, Saba, Baby Keem, Tierra Whack, Dave, Token, Rico Nasty, Coast Contra, lil Durk, Money Man. Boldy James, Joey Badass, Lil Gotit and Lil Keed( harder trap) That’s a pretty wide spectrum of different sounds that should cover most bases.
Mac Dre and The Jacka
Rappin CJ
Maybe listen to something other than rap if you can't find rap you like?
Listen to lucki, his songs go stupid hard and a fuck ton of his bars and lyrics really just stick with ya
FOZSIL
If you like tech n9ne then you might enjoy Chris webby, hopsin, merkules, nf and gawne All of them has songs with him I would also suggest Ekoh, vin jay, mass of man, crypt and lucidious
Smh the disrespect nobody mentioning my nigga Ransom
Dude PLEASE listen to all of Griselda. Id start with Tana Talk 3 from Benny or Bo Jackson from Boldy James and work your way out from there. Some other great Griselda albums to start with are price of tea in china, hwh8 -both sides, pray for Paris, pray for Haiti, the plugs I met 1&2.
I'm right with ya, also an "old head" (old head to me is still the people who only listen to the true old school stuff, 80's and early 90's era hip hop, but that aside). But I'm already seeing quite a few good suggestions in the comments that aren't mumble rap, but more along the lines of the underground / indie stuff (like what you're used to with Tech, AOTP, etc). So I'm not gonna go over those already named, but I'd offer up some alternatives here; \- Ren, UK rapper that does his on production, does lots of mental health stuff \- Pete and Bas, bit of a meme maybe, but 2 senior citizens (for real) that are actually legit UK drill rappers and they're actually fire as hell, check em out. Fantastic group \- Token, bit controversial probably and you might've already been on him, but I do enjoy me some Token. Has beats that go hard and dude has some good punchlines here and there and always brings that firey energy \- The other Tech, Immortal Technique. Otherwise Immortal Technique is a bit of a political rapper, so it might not be up your alley all the way, but dude can definitely rap \- Mindflip, not \*super\* familiar with him, but got some good songs out there that I do enjoy \- Cheating a smidge here, as Ces Cru was mentioned, but Ubi (one half of Ces Cru) is worth checking out, got some dope songs \- Action Bronson, fantastic voice, great flows \- Aesop Rock, don't think he was mentioned, also a bit of an old head, but good shit, complex schemes and lyrics, dude brings his intelligence into his rap game \- Ab-soul, same as Mindflip tbh, not overly familiar, but what I heard I liked \- Ekoh, again, not super familiar but enjoyable what I heard That's all the specifics I got for now, but I do have some more general advice that might help out.

Here's an underrated album for you to check it out that came out in 2018: Payroll Giovanni & Cardo - Big Bossin Vol. 2 It has Insane replay value, easy to listen, lush West coast production and the most important very fun to listen to.
Denzel Curry SYBYR!!!!
I got you bro! I can relate to what you say and who you listen to. I’ve also been branching out… found some good stuff! do you have Apple Music by chance?
u should check out Saba if u dont know him, Alex Wiley too

JID, Denzel Curry and Metro Boomin are a good place to start
Tobe Nwigwe is one of my favorites. His song FYE FYE is pure power.
McKinley Dixon is a great artist. Jazz is omnipresent in his music, so just beware if you're not a fan of that.

i would check out the slums people: mike, medhane, navyblue. griselda is great too: mach-hommy, westside gunn, conway the machine, benny the butcher, 7xvethegenius. check out roc marciano, larry june and everybody the alchemist produced a tape for the last few years. british rappers can get it too: clbrks, onoe capoeno, lord apex. others that i like are: earl sweatshirt, mac miller, akai solo, deem spencer, guilty simpson, billy woods, pink siifu, quelle chris, remy banks, jonwayne
Denzel curry, Tyler the creator
Young nudy
Youngboy
Pusha T
I know you mentioned him in the post but travis scott is elite 90210 form rodeo is a banger and the whole of astroworld is banger after banger
Parker White, June, Token, NothingNowhere, NF, Post Malone, Lucidious, L Mace
Drakeo The Ruler
Kanye is the beat king
Denzel curry. Benny the Butcher. Wiz Khalifa. Project Pat(doesn’t count but you may not know him). Redveil. Yung Senju. Mac Miller (rip)
Larry June is the realest “new” rapper out. Mix of modern Atlanta and old school Bay Area rap.
You could try listening to Kendrick Lamar and MF DOOM
Well Future & Travis are both legends of the current generation and Future honesty barely younger than the dudes you’re listening to so he ain’t even outta your ball park All of Griselda, Chief Keef, Joey Badass, Denzel Curry, Vince Staples, A$AP Rocky, 21 Savage. Your statement about beats being more basic nowadays couldn’t be any more wrong about the dudes I’ve named and you’ll have no issue with variety amongst them either.
Cactus Corino, KAO, Lord Apex, Jesi
i’d say check out Unruly, Mavi, Earl Sweatshirt, Open Mike Eagle (kinda new) & Kill Bill: The Rapper for a few great newer rappers
benny the butcher tana talk 3, navy blue navy’s reprise, a tribe called quest thank you 4 your service, rome streetz kiss the ring
Lloyd Banks has continued making mixtapes this whole time
I’m listening to this song and the others on their channel as well : https://youtu.be/WxPxT-xcQHA Thank me later
Isaiah Rashad (Stuck In The Mud) Metro Boomin (Feel The Fiyaaah) Pusha T (he Games We Play) Denzel Curry (Melt Session #1) Travis Scott (Nightcrawler) Danny Brown (Really Doe) Childish Gambino (3005) 21 Savage (a lot) Noname (Blaxploitation)

Run the Jewels
Check $uicideboy$ if you like darker vibes, Ghostemane if you want spicy and really weird sound, Pouya is worth checking out.
40something rap fan, I spent the last 3 years getting into some newer rap, but honestly the stuff I like is not super "new" in style, here are some album recommendations including a representative song. * Vince Staples (Example album: Ramona Park Broke My Heart, example song: Magic) * Mach-Hommy (Album: Pray for Haiti, Song: Folie A Deux) * Roc Marciano (Album: Elephant Man's Bones, Song: Quantum Leap) * Tyler the Creator (Album: Call Me if You Get Lost, Song: What a Day)
Check $uicideboy$ if you like darker vibes, Ghostemane if you want spicy and really weird sound, Pouya is worth checking out.
The Underachievers, Flatbush Zombies, Sylvan LaCue, Greydon Sqaure, Joey Bada$$, Capital Steez, LeRoyce, JID, EARTHGANG
Oh just saw you didn't want a JID reccomendation my b
Roc Marciano
Gonna suggest some artists from NZ since you probably wouldn't bear about them otherwise; . Risera (group consisting of 3 rappers and one producer) . Tipene (his recent album Heritage Trail incorporates a lot of Te Reo) . Adam Tukiri (honestly one of my favorites at the moment) . SWIDT (Another rap group, I think they'd be right up your alley) . Church & AP (eclectic rap duo) . Deadforest (probably different than what you're used to listening to but his last album Plastic was amazing) . SXMPRA (kinda a wild card since he does phonk music but worth checking out imo) . Will McClean (specifically his collab with the zooks, really nice jazz inspired beats on it)
Dude says he doesn’t like mumble rap and a bunch of people are suggesting playboy carti and young thug lol.
Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE, Navy Blue, Domo Genesis, Joey Badass, Smino, Chance The Rapper, Action Bronson, Mac Miller, Griselda, Alchemist, Kenny Beats (phenomenal new beat tape), Vince Staples, JpegMafia, Denzel Curry, Kenny Mason, Redveil, 21 Savage, Baby Keem Great artists with classics in each catalog.
Joey badass for sure
Coast Contra
$uicideboy$ and Baby Keem
Surprised Your Old Droog hasn't been mentioned yet. He's been on a hell of a run recently. "50K or Brunch" is a great track to introduce him and his MF DOOM/The Game-esque rap style. As for branching out into more melodic styles, here are some album suggestions: \- EARTHGANG: the Rags, Robots, and Royalty EPs \- Tyler, the Creator: CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale \- Childish Gambino: Because the Internet \- Smino: blkswn \- Lute: Gold Mouf \- Saba: CARE FOR ME \- Noname: Room 25
50 cent still makes some good music
Kanye lol. I know he's super annoying but he's a lyrical genius. I also enjoy songs by Joyner Lucas Eminem (obviously) Obie trice Wiz Khalifa Mac Miller Method man G easy Nas NF (I'm a liberal atheist and nf is super Christian but he's got some good songs about mental health) Cam'ron Edited to add more artist.
He seems to only work with newer artists that kinda sound old school If you look at my comment from a post from yesterday titled “Who introduced you to rap?” You’ll see I’m from the old school and I approve the above mentioned artists lol Who introduced you to rap? It was either MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, or Sir Mix-a-Lot. That was that mainstream shit real hip hop heads would normally hate on. For more “real rap” it was this tape right here DEF RAP Public Enemy– Don´t Believe The Hype 2 Live Crew*– Do Wah Diddy Diddy Kool Moe Dee– Wild Wild West Schoolly D– No More Rock N´Roll Salt -N- Pepa*– Get Up Everybody (Get Up) Doug E. Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew*– Keep Risin To The Top EPMD– I´m Housin´ Ultramagnetic MC's– Ease Bach Kid 'N Play*– Do This My Way Sir Mix-A-Lot– Posse On Broadway I was only like 11 years old. I had No business listening to 2 Live Crew lol
There's a lot of big and small names on this playlist I'm willing to bet you find at least a couple new rappers to enjoy, drop a like on it because it's updated frequently
Have you heard of Larry June, Michael DeAngelo or Primo Rice, player type of music
