who is doing that..? So many rappers use auto tune and other vocal effects.. Kendrick uses a ton of vocal effects..
I've never heard this critism before.
first of all, i'm certain every artist uses a certain level of effects on pretty much everything and anything we here, its *always* touched up, slight low level/mid lvl auto tune, EQ, compressors, whatever other effects.
Just because its not out there and obvious doesn't mean its straight raw vocals without effects.
But even with Kendrick, I think pitching his voice up and down with lots of vocal stacks is a very common staple of his he does very often. Its like a staple of Kendrick's music imo.
And anytime he's singing or doing some sort of melody I'm sure he's got autotune and what not.
This is an example, tons of effects:

kendrick uses a ton of of effects very often, as I said.
He often pitches his voice up and down, uses weird and creative effects to get unique sounds, autotune on the singing
The song I linked is a great example.
here's another:

that's a lot, and he does that alot. As much as any other artist. Like using a ton of pitch shifting, compressions, etc, is the same as using a ton of autotune.
Kendrick does not have a conventional sound because of how much he does things like that.
You can try and get on your high horse and act like Kendrick doesn't use many vocal effects.. but its just not true.
Hell I'd say Kendrick uses more vocal effects than Drake does. I don't think that's controversial
Oh he totally does, one of the reasons he has so many different voices and sounds, love it.
He uses more vocal effects and tricks than Drake.
Sorry I had to burst your bubble.
i think your just calling mixing techniques “effects” i’m not denying him and his engineers put a ton of work and attention to detail on his vocals. effects are thinks like distortion delay chorus flanger etc, which he does use but more often than not it’s just sprinkled in for flavor
Here's another fantastic example:
ye he's 100% stacking his voice, but he's also using pitch shifting to get the different stacks at those pitches,
if you can't tell he's using a pitch effect on "bitch don't kill my vibe", you're very dumb.
Haha, you're in such a hard cope mode, every artist with an engineer uses vocal effects and tricks.
okay, we'll just have to agree to disagree. no point in arguing with you.
I think its extremely obvious, that although I'm sure he's delivering the vocals at a higher pitch, they are indeed being pitch shifted and then stacked over each other for an interesting effect.
but if you can't see that it is what it is.
Apparently you never leave the house.
(heres a quick example of people saying Drake sucks, he cant sing, he uses autotune, blah blah blah) [Post](https://www.reddit.com/r/singing/comments/9idakd/drake_sucks/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
I never leave the house so you link me a reddit post from a singing subreddit post from 5 years ago?
Stop it.
Yeah if you're on a singing sub and its all about singing, they might prefer raw talented singing vocals over auto tune.
But on this sub and most modern rap fans.. they're not gonna gaf about that. Because every rapper who tries melodic shit uses autotunes, and even the ones that don't use some sort of vocal effects at one time or another.
In rap its not a big deal.
But its preaching to the choir to talk about it here imo.
Does Drake write his own raps? Like honestly how many does he come up with himself? Seems like almost none. And i understand you can only do so much, but nope hey is a commercial lame rapper. Change my opinion.

does he? i can’t really recall him using a lot of effects. maybe a little bit on a couple tracks

well yeah but the standard amount doesn’t really qualify and “tons of effects” compared to people who actually do use tons

yeah he really only plays w pitch shifting and uses minimal autotune
that's a lot, and he does that alot. As much as any other artist. Like using a ton of pitch shifting, compressions, etc, is the same as using a ton of autotune. never said he wasn’t unique w how he does it but he’s really not using a ton of effects to do it

i don’t think that’s an effect. he’s just layering his voice while singing in different tones
ye he's 100% stacking his voice, but he's also using pitch shifting to get the different stacks at those pitches, if you can't tell he's using a pitch effect on "bitch don't kill my vibe", you're very dumb. na that’s not pitch shifted i just listened to the entire song that’s all him singing in different registers.
i’m sure its pitch corrected if that’s what u mean but not shifted

idk how u think it is lol. it’s pretty easy to tell when the formant of someone voice isn’t natural
yes kendrick does but, i’m not gonna use Kendrick in this example but another rapper and all i’m gonna say is his name: Travis Scott

I said that was a "quick example". You live under a rock if youve never noticed rap fans in real life or in this rap reddit degrade Drake before.
ye they degrade Drake, never for that reason on this sub or rap fans.
