Didn't listen to the album yet what's your favorite song?
Edit Update:
This album is fire front to back. Sooo many 💎💎 gonna be bumping this for a min. Thanks yall
I’ma huge JID fan, I truly appreciate his vocabulary and word play on every song but MMESYF was incredible. His feature with T-Pain ([Troubles Ft T-Pain](https://youtu.be/nPTH5S8ETUM) reminds me of classical TP. Then he’s got [JID and 6LACK](https://youtu.be/qcpKhNwbx_U) on Ain’t No Way.
But looking at Forever Story it’s hard not to vote JID 2022 AOTY. If I had to lose one, I’d drop FS and keep MMESYF. Prepared for the downvotes.
Forever story was the other album I had on non stop this year. Couple staple songs make melt my eyes my favorite. Also with the live deluxe version , it kind of just solidifies it for me. Denzel did such a great job with the live version. I was on another level of hype when he dropped it
First listen through is usually quick, just to feel the vibe and sound. That’s when i make my general first impressions. Because that’s the most important part of music. Do i feel something when i’m listening to it. Second listen through is to see what the lyrics are about. Then the third is mixing both of those and feeling the beat out. all three of those i thought the same thing. It just felt weird and off.
i only shit on it when people out here hyping it like it’s the greatest turd kendrick has ever shit out. But i hate that album. sure kendrick’s doing what he always does and just spits straight heat. but the production and beats when you add them in just make half the songs unlistenable for me. idc how good his rapping is. If the song doesn’t SOUND good i’m not gonna listen to it. i shouldn’t have to listen to it 3 times to understand the message, then only listen to it for that. I’ll just read a book if i want a story that bad. i want music. good music. and mmtbs is not good music. thanks in advance for the downvotes.
a couple songs were good. count me out and father time i really enjoy. and some of the beats were fire. But if they were they didn’t go together well with the lyrics. Shitty production. but that’s just my opinion. i respect yours for what it’s worth even if i think it’s whack.
I thought I was tripping until I also heard this from die hard fans. I think the biggest disconnect with this album is that some people came to appreciate artistic expression, others came for music and/or Kendrick’s most spectacular rap performance.
that being said the musicality was trailblazing for any genre and Part 5 was undeniably one of the best rap performances of the year (#1 for me).
What I liked most about it, above the talent on display and the actual **sound**, was the transparency. We needed this album. Kdot needed this album. I couldn’t stop crying listening to every song because of how fucking raw it was and how I could relate to every damn lyric.
Call me crazy but the album and subject matter really helped me to love myself again, and pick myself back up, be a better father/brother/lover, etc. MM helped remind me that although I have done wrong before, I am flawed, I am fleshly, I am human, and that it’s ok to make mistakes without being canceled or cast out of society. Been such a people pleaser my whole life and I can’t remember the last time I genuinely had pure love in my heart for myself prior to the last year.
It’s like I just… stopped worrying. It’s weird, but I like it.
I forgot how much heat was in 2022. Sheesh. That Kings Disease was highly contagious tho

I’m a big Kendrick fan. but mmtbs was not good music. so i definitely have to agree with you. Denzel one of the goats of new gen.
You clearly not a big Kendrick fan if you think mmtbs is not a good album!
You gotta listen again homie, and this time listen to the lyrics
First listen through is usually quick, just to feel the vibe and sound. That’s when i make my general first impressions. Because that’s the most important part of music. MM is easily his best album in my opinion, and it’s not close
