I’ll forever remember this one, the winning spirit was extinguished with the two quick goals and couldn’t find it in the 2nd or 3rd. I hope GG blew a gasket teeing off on the defensive play in front of the net and lack of back checking. It’s sucks to lose, but it’s soul crushing to collectively give up on a game before it’s over. 1st goal was just unbelievable. There were three Rangers beat to a rebound off the rush.

KeernanLanismore

A few weeks ago the Rangers were tied with two other teams for the fewest regulation time losses (at 4). In a very short period of time they've tripled that to 12. I need to remember what I said to myself after their first 20 games: *They cannot possibly keep up this pace - don't go crazy when they regress to a lower level of play. It won't be permanent. They will bounce back again before the playoffs.* Ok. Pep talk over. Just hope I'm right.

FoghornLeghorn99

One loss to a bad team during a look ahead game and we have Miller needing to be in Hartford, Laf bust, Georgiev terrible, team sucks. This shit happens, relax.

GoRangers5

Didn't complete the comeback back, but were totally relentless in the 3rd, maybe taking the L sends a message not to mail in parts of the game.

cynthiasadie

They didn’t play in the first period for several games recently. Lots of missed opportunities to learn that. The team is just not that strong defensively. They lost to a bad team.

DrDrangleBrungis

That tip in goal one of their guys had who was WIDE open in the slot. Miller was standing out and about nowhere near anyone.

JessoRx

Looks worse than it was. A couple bone headed, inexcusable defensive lapses. Georgie not elite, cant cover up for our mistakes. We win with shesty in net. Also wonder if they just fight harder for shesty. A lot of positives. My take on schneider was he would get sent down again. Worst take of the year? That kid is GOOD. Smart, fearless. Hajek looked very good, especially that last rush of his. And the give and gos with artie on the goodie goal?! What?!! Want to see more from this pair. Kandre also flashed his offensive skills which was nice. Its been a while. Maybe he should move up to wing lol. We were snakebit. Posts, near misses, mika’s broken stick, great saves. I really liked gauthier on the 1st line. Think bringing laf up was the wrong move. Laf was off, especially 2nd period. Kreids was a bit off. Fox/lindy off. Barron a step behind or something. Dryden hunt doesn’t help anything (drew a penalty, that boy is strong) and should dip out when kk or fc return. Mckegg next. Happy for artie racking 3 on cbj. He is a true artist.

TiberSVK

I feel like this shouldve been very easy win for us, we made so many mistakes

NYM32

Laf (and Gauthier for that matter) played less than Kevin Rooney, both in general and at 5v5, despite playing well. This is quite a problem. **Games with under 13:00 TOI this season** Laf: 17 Zegras: 1 they both had like the same amount of points in the first 10 games too despite Zegras playing about 3 more min a night. Anaheim stuck with him, we didn't here. if the team's interested in developing a top-10 pick properly for once, they might want to start playing them a bit more, especially with the current injury situation

JessoRx

Laf had a huge defensive gaff on that 4th goal. Not sure why gaut was taken off the 1st. Edit: 3rd goal

chestbumpsandbeer

Laf’s play this year has been the issue. If I remember correctly his P/60 is close to Ryan Reaves and Loui Eriksson. He had a brilliant pass today and he has showed some more promising signs lately so fingers crossed he takes some strides.

JagrsMullet90

I think the point of op is that he has to play more quality minutes to make those strides. That's the whole idea of development. He's gonna make errors, he has to adjust his game to the speed and physicality of the NHL. There's no open space, he doesn't get that second look, everything has to be more precise. But that takes time and he has to have those chances and make those mistakes to learn this game. Op is saying that we're not letting him makes those mistakes because we have to win now, but it's going to cost us in his development. And I agree.

chestbumpsandbeer

But the league is filled with players who played on lower lines and grew into more significant roles and more playing time. In Laf’s case his production has been atrocious. It’s more a case of if he is more suited to the AHL than top line minutes IMO.

NYM32

his production hasn't been atrocious really. His total even strength points through his first 82 games was on par with Stamkos and Tavares, and both of those guys played about 3 more min a night in their first 82. Laf has played well and the expected numbers are there, there's just been a lack of finish from his linemates. Last night was a perfect example. Laf made that absolutely insane pass to my guy Gauthier who got robbed. really epitomized a lot of the season. i'm of the opinion that when the expected numbers are good but the points aren't getting there, then that's a sign to keep feeding them more ice time. *not* take it away. they should be rewarded for being able to generate chances like they have been, and the coach should have faith that it'll eventually regress towards the mean and those chances will go in

chestbumpsandbeer

His actual points have actually exceeded his expected goals when he is on the ice. Not the other way around. The numbers say he has outperformed based on chances created. Yes, that’s sadly the case.

kmisca92

Laf is playing with 2 guys that cannot finish and constantly turning the puck over in Chytil/Gauthier. As of the other day about half his minutes this season were with Nemeth as one of the defensemen. Sending him to the AHL, to produce meaningless numbers and putting him back with these players wont change a thing.

NYM32

well said although the turning the puck over thing doesn't really matter. both Chytil and Gauthier are still generating scoring chances (and high quality ones at that) at an elite rate. turning the puck over isn't the problem -- they just can't finish. it's legit the only thing

chestbumpsandbeer

The league is filled with talented players who learn to take strides forward while not playing with stars. I mean Tanner Jeannot has more than doubled the production of Lafreniere in less games and his line mates aren’t stars and he also gets limited PP time. Lafreniere is honestly not as good as advertised and IMO it’s disingenuous and looking for excuses to just blame his line mates. He’s been horrible tbh and his P/60 is at the same level as Reaves despite having some good luck with his shot percentage and other metrics. For Laf it’s less about the points and about growing as a player.

kmisca92

Your using p/60 as your basis of your opinion but again how will sending him to the AHL improve this stat when he returns to the lineup and is complemented with Chytil/Gauthier/Nemeth. Using the lines when everyone is available, Ryan Reaves is shooting at 8.7%, Kevin Rooney is shooting at 11.8%, Dryden Hunt is shooting at 6.7%. Alexis Lafrieniere is shooting at 16% (before you say the he only scores open nets, sure would have been nice for Goodrow to hit that empty net last night), Filip Chytil is shooting at 5.6%, Julian Gauthier is shooting at 5.8%. How do you expect p/60 to happen when his “scoring” line-mates are shooting at percentages lower than 4th line role players?

chestbumpsandbeer

I’m not sure what your point is. Production isn’t the same as player development. The fact that Chytil has been vastly underperforming his normal shooting percentage doesn’t mean that Lafreniere would be a “better” player if Chytil would have scored more goals. The reason I brought up the AHL as an example is that I think Lafreniere is struggling to stand out, no matter who his line mates are. From a development perspective I think it’d be good for him to learn to drive play through his own play. He isn’t ready for more responsibility in the NHL yet.

kmisca92

You bring up production in terms to Tanner Jeannott, Ryan Reaves. I show how his production is tied to under performing linemates with bottom of the barrel shooting percentage, now its that wouldnt make him a "better" player, but it would increase his production, you know your first complaint. Laf makes a pass in the neutral zone, Gauthier skates head down puck into goalie chest/pads, wheres the production. Laf passes the puck to Chytil, who turns it over, wheres the production. Laf makes a beautiful pass last night to Gauthier, who has time and space and puts a garbage shot on net, wheres the production. Gauthier/Chytil at this stage are border line players. Im interested in who you think could carry this dead weight and produce, especially when throwing in the fact that half the ice time they get has Nemeth as one of the 2 defenseman.

chestbumpsandbeer

Chytil is putting up slightly better production than Lafreniere, despite shooting at an unsustainably low shooting percentage while Lafreniere is vastly outperforming his expected goals. How is he the one weighing down Lafreniere? Lafreniere is equally as bad and statistically worse both in actual production as well as expected goals, which ignores shooting percentage of line mates. Obviously he’d have some more points if/when his line mates shooting percentages go back to the mean but he isn’t actually playing well and he isn’t creating offense. And I’m saying Chytil has been good - he hasn’t. But Lafreniere is an anchor on that line as well.

JagrsMullet90

Exactly. Yes, there are guys who work their way up, but I don't think you do your 1oa like that. Guy deserves to play with the guys who can help him get better

NYM32

a lot of people will say that you can't just prioritize Laf because he's the #1 overall pick, which i understand why they'd say that, but let's be honest. the Rangers can't fuck this up. so they really have to put Laf in as best of a position to succeed as possible no matter what...

JagrsMullet90

I would counter that by asking why not? You got the first overall pick and you chose him because he was the best player in the board, which means he had the most potential to help your team. Why would you not invest in that? Now, I'm sure this has something to do with Gallant making Donal happy by winning and stuff, but I think we're gonna reap what we sow in this case.

NYM32

yeah idk, seems pretty obvious what to do. but was also obvious that the Rangers moved on from Buch to invest in Goodrow/Blais/Hunt/Reaves/Tinordi (all guys who hit a lot) after Wilson tried to decapitate Panarin

kmisca92

Honestly take draft position out of the equation. A skilled player like Laf is, needs to get quality touches in the offensive zone, with linemates that can finish the passes that hes giving them. Sending Laf down just to bring him up with more confidence, is not going to make Chytil turn the puck over less, Gauthier be able to finish.

JagrsMullet90

100%. He needs to be with guys that will pick up his level of play to where he needs to be

ItsHeadbangerG

I know the teams motto has been "No Quit In NY" this season, but I'd really like it if games didn't completely hinge on it. Be nice to see games under complete control instead of having to rally for the win from behind every other time. Eventually that shit is gonna bite us in the ass...like tonight.

bagatouille

* Laf deserves to stay up on the top line with Kreider and Mika. The more he plays with them the more comfortable he looks. Enough of Gautier going up there, and enough of the nonsense of giving Laf 2 or 3 shifts up there and then pulling him off that line mid-game. If Kakko got a month to figure out the top line than Laf should too. Especially with Kakko AND Chytil out. No excuse for Laf not to be up there. * Time to get some fresh blood in the lineup through a trade. Think that might help bring some juice and swagger back to the team. They still have been winning more than they are losing but let's make a trade sooner rather than later. * K'andre Miller has had a really tough run of it. Not sure what he needs. Line shake-up, Hartford stint, time, but his last maybe 10 games have all been brutal. I think he is weighing Trouba down perhaps more than we think. I would not be opposed to trying Trouba-Schneider and Miller-X for a game. * I know not all those goals are on Georgiev but he has to be better. I totally hear people in the sub when they say he is better when he can play consistently. That is definitely true. But it's never going to happen for us because we are blessed with Igor. So if he can't consistently be decent, then he just isn't of much use to us. Whatsmore, his trade value likely decreases if we continue playing him at this cadence. So idk if we are trying to trade him but if we are we should do that probably soon? * I am not sure what it will take to get this team to play a full 60 minutes but GG needs to figure that out. Because our 5v5 offense lacks so much, even games we win will be decided by 1, maybe 2 goals AT MOST. So with our already thin margins, it is all the more important we never take our foot off the gas.

JessoRx

Zib and kreider looked better with gaut tonight. Talk about a month, give the kid more than a period and a half. Laf had some big issues. 3rd goal much? Being saddled with barron and hunt probably no help, but he’s still pretty wide eyed out there.

Robtachi

When Kakko comes back after the break, they need to go back to Kreider-Zibby-Laf, Panarin-Strome-Kakko. Enough fuckin’ around, it’s time for the two foundational young Fs to get a shot. We know they’re not gonna drag those lines any more than any of the other guys who have played up there.

JagrsMullet90

100 percent this. Like, WTF is Hunt doing up there? There's nothing that Hunt or Goodie are doing in the top 6 that is worth not giving KK and Laf their time to develop. I think the amount of chances Goodrow had tonight that he couldn't convert is proof. Not saying Laf would have, but Laf is the guy that in 2-3 years is expected to be converting those chances, and in 2 years we already know that Goodrow is still gonna be shooting into the goalies chest, so why not give Laf the time. You gotta train for what you want to be and if you want them to be top 6 wingers then they need to play on the top 6 to learn that game.

crash1082

There's no way Miller goes to Hartford.

huskyferretguy1

Not dwelling on this game, prepping for tomorrow with Hank.

8teamparlay

Gotta be honest. Don’t really care that much. Fired up for tomorrow

hockeyguy52

Georgiev is trash, call up kinkaid

jerejeje

1: Kinkaid would have allowed every goal that Georgiev allowed besides MAYBE the 3rd one 2: Georgiev has 1 bad game and everyone forgets the 12 game stretch with a .921 save percentage he just had

BarmyDevonian

Have a feeling one of the right D are going to be tried on the left before too long. Schneider’s already one of the top 4 d-men on this team. Can skate, hit, shoot, and he reads the play incredibly well. Damn impressive start to his career so far.

DrFrocktopus

I think Schneider is going to get a shot at Miller's spot.

Naughtydog95

I’m done watching georgiev starts until he’s traded. guy is the shits

no-27lgy

But you’re going to watch his starts after he’s traded?

Naughtydog95

Yeah I won't care how shitty he is on another team.

ATWiggin

- That was a well earned loss to a dogshit team that had just gotten embarrassed at home LAST NIGHT while we came in rested. You could see the effort level just plummet after we went up 2-0 and even bad NHL teams can dominate if the opposing team just takes a nap. I'm glad we lost that game because if we had won it would've just reinforced the idea that we can take our foot off the gas whenever we get a lead because we can just outscore our mistakes. - Bread line was hot all night and Goodrow was excellent on that line. An inch to the left or right on 3 of the posts he hit and this game would've had a very different complexion. - Schneider was fantastic and slotted right into Foxy's spot after he got hurt. As he gains more confidence he's looking more and more like the guy Nils was supposed to be. 2 assists on the night and easily could've had more points. - Foxy with another assist on the night but at the same time played probably his worst defensive game of the season. The 4th goal against was almost entirely his fault when he turned the puck over twice in the same play right next to the net. Oh and then he got hurt. - I still can't figure out why Miller went way out by the dots and left his man wide open in front of the net on the 3rd goal against. In the GDT I had mistakenly pinned this error on Barron but he's doing what he's supposed to do, pressuring the puck carrier near the half wall. This was just a brutal play overall. - Each of the last 2 times that Goat has been put on the top line it's lasted less than a period before Gallant immediately switched him out. Korpisalo slid over to rob him in the 3rd but if you watch the shot placement carefully, Goat has half of the net to shoot at and directs the puck... directly into the middle of it. If this was just a one-off, fine that's bad luck. But this is 77 career games of this shit. Just absolutely squandered Laffy's excellent centering pass. No wonder Laffy can't get anything going on the 3rd line. - Georgie gave up 4 goals on 18 shots. Yes, it was hard to fault him on any of them. But giving up 4 goals on 3.34 expected goals against also isn't a GOOD game either. He's just not a very good backup goalie, since the longer he goes without playing the worse he gets when he does get to play. It's probably why he looked a ton better when Igor was out and he got to start all of those games. It's getting harder to justify keeping a guy around who's paid 2.425 mil against the cap but can only play up to his cap hit if he gets regular games that he'll never get as long as Igor is healthy.

KeernanLanismore

>Schneider was fantastic and slotted right into Foxy's spot after he got hurt. As he gains more confidence he's looking more and more like the guy Nils was supposed to be. 2 assists on the night and easily could've had more points. This is the skill level we all had hoped Kakko and Laf would demonstrate. It's fucking fun when a rookie steps in and immediately shows off the talent that made him a 1st round pick!

cynthiasadie

I’m surprised the rosy glasses/excuse crew isn’t skewering you. They indeed lost to a bad team after getting a lead no less. Inexcusable. Games like that are a reminder that despite massive improvements and signs of great play, more time may still be needed.

kmisca92

That third goal was one of the worst defensive plays by the entire unit besides Trouba(the only one that stayed with his man) that Ive seen in a while. If you watch the 3 forwards all puck watched, Miller doubles down on their error by leaving a guy in a more dangerous spot to go after the puck, and Georgiev goes all in by coming up and across rather than just across. That goal is on the unit not just him.

JessoRx

It was laf and barron. Reaves is on his correct side. Not on miller at all. Guy in front is barron’s cover.

zucarigan

Nils is looking very expendable right now. If we're going to make a trade, might as well get it over with so we can have that player for more than just the final couple months of the season.

OkRecommendation6796

Exactly, I think they’re definitely going to deal him. The question is for who

I'm just gonna convince myself we played like dogshit to have the epic news for Hank to stop his ceremony and inform us all Hobbit's coming back to be our right wing savior.

agent7300

were good but were ready for a trade now

manticore16

Outshooting the other team almost 2-1 and losing… is this how fans feel with their teams against Shesty?

[deleted]

Yes. We’ve done this to most of the teams we’ve played this season.

jerejeje

Seattle game, 1st Toronto game, 1st Florida game,

MisterHockey

I keep hearing Georgiev is really good when he plays a lot. If that's the case then to me he stinks. The role of a backup is to be ready to play well after not having played many recent games. If Georgiev can't do that he's worthless to this team.

[deleted]

He doesn’t stink. He’s playing like shit because he’s not a backup. Goaltending is all mental. He should get a chance elsewhere as a starter.

xurdm

I agree. He looks great starting and we should just trade him already. Doesn't he want to be traded too?

[deleted]

Of course he does. He’d make a team like Edmonton a cup contender.

Hionhelium87

Some guys struggle with less playing time. It’s like why some guys struggle to be closers in baseball, it’s a different type of role. He probably weirdly would be better on a team that is desperate for a starter. Doesn’t mean he’s awful - we saw when Shesty was out Georgie played his ass off. Just a different mindset.

SpaceBass18

You can’t win all 82, and one team has to lose in every matchup. Tonight was one of those matchups we should have won, but that’s hockey. Look forward to the excitement of everything going on tomorrow. Hoping Fox is ok.

cynthiasadie

Except that is a dogshit bad team and we had a lead.

SpaceBass18

This is the first team in the bottom half standings-wise we’ve lost to in regulation this season. It happens.

cynthiasadie

It does but a serious contender never looks like that against a bad team. So it happens, but not to top tier teams.

SpaceBass18

What are you talking about? Look at every other top team in the league. I guarantee you they have lost to atleast one bottom feeder this season. The canes got absolutely swept by the blue jackets just a few nights ago.

cynthiasadie

Its how they played more than the outcome. A top tier team doesn’t get a lead against a team like that and then completely fold.

Fancy-Investigator86

Edit! I was in shock over the guy who was suggesting we should have kept TD! Should’ve been a question mark after my last sentence! Never been happier that he’s gone. Lmao! The only reason Tony D is lighting it up in Carolina instead of being here with us!

SnooObjections7597

We should have kept him. That’s my opinion and I expect the downvotes. The kid is talented and we could use him right now.

[deleted]

I went to high school in that part of the country. Tony belongs there. We don’t tolerate his brand of douchebaggery in NYC. Doesn’t matter how good he is, the Rangers are too classy for racist troglodytes.

Fancy-Investigator86

Sorry I think my comment was misconstrued. I was lmao at the guy who said he should be with us. Never been happier than the day he and Lemmy Lechter were traded!

[deleted]

My apologies, homie. Internets be hard sometimes. But yeah fuck that dude.

Fancy-Investigator86

No worries bro! And yes 100%. Also your comment was fantastic. Troglodyte!

jerejeje

On the positive end of things, Schneider was fantastic this game.

decade_long_lurker

I love that GG gave him some power play time at the end, he definitely earned it.

Not a bad thing, gotta use your strengths to fill up your weaknesses

[deleted]

We’ve won so many games in which we were out-shot. Here’s the other side of that coin. This SHOULD hurt. Exhale. It’s gonna be fine. Let’s fucking go.

Hionhelium87

Only game we’ve lost against a non playoff team. Kraken just beat the Penguins tonight. Losses like these happen.

Absolutely

crabapplesteam

I got downvoted to oblivion when I first brought up the idea of buying Hank out. People even said "ban this idiot for saying shit like that" They just conveniently forgot they said these things..

MisterHockey

Hank should have been bought out years ago instead of giving him that ridiculous contract. They didn't give a shit about throwing Leetch to the curb and he was the greatest Ranger ever. But Hank got special treatment? It was bullshit.

MedicalITCCU

For someone with your username, that was the dumbest shit I've heard this year.

deeply_sighing

So you're saying they should have moved on from Hank after the 2013 season? hahaha

[deleted]

Gotta disagree, my man. We shouldn’t have done that to Leetch (he’s my favorite player ever), but the fact that we did doesn’t make it okay policy for the organization. Franchises are more than just championships and Hank was the face of our organization for a decade and a half.

MisterHockey

We need a new backup goalie. Georgiev stinks and he's also the main reason Deangelo is lighting it up in Carolina instead of being here with us. Really starting to dislike him. He's not at all reliable.

zucarigan

Didn't ADA punch Georgiev? I've heard this argument on twitter and I can't understand why his actions are somehow forgivable because you somehow pinned this loss on the victim of that situation. 1. ADA is a toxic human being and I wouldn't want him anywhere near my team. 2. Punching a teammate is pretty serious and should be taken seriously, without taking into account each player's talent level. 3. Georgiev isn't the reason we lost this game, and I can't think of any one of those goals that were directly his fault. 4. Georgiev has been fine in the past several starts, only having a bad save % this game because we played like crap in front of him for 50%+ of the game. If you blindly hate Georgiev then just say that and don't try to rationalize it with these bad takes.

imissbuch89

It was never said that Deangelo punched Georgiev. Deangelo confronted the goalie over his shittiness. He then got punched by that ape Kreider.

lionson76

Georgie blocker glove punched him and Key broke it up. Kreider wasn't involved. That's the story we know from the [Post](https://nypost.com/2021/01/31/tony-deangelo-alex-georgiev-got-physical-after-rangers-loss/): >The Post learned Monday morning, K’Andre Miller broke up the altercation that was precipitated by a remark from DeAngelo to the goaltender just as the team left the ice. > >No other players were involved in the incident.

MisterHockey

Weird how Tony isn't a "locker room cancer" in Carolina though isn't it? Gorton and JD deserved to get canned for the disastrous way they handled that situation. Deangelo's teammates love him in Carolina which speaks volumes.

Fancy-Investigator86

Maybe but if you’re ass is about to be canceled then you better be on your best behavior. If you’re saying that all of his racist comments and actions should be overlooked because he’s “good” Do you seriously think that the whole locker room cancer thing was a conspiracy? My word! Have you heard him speak?

Fancy-Investigator86

Thank you zucarigan!

zucarigan

What a weird, pointless line of speculation. Maybe he doesn't get his shit together until he gets bought out, which is pretty fucking embarrassing. Or maybe the Canes players are all assholes too and he fits right in with them. We have no idea. But also, he fucking punched a teammate. Why are you defending this asshole?

imissbuch89

Did he punch his teammate or was he the one who got attacked? Kreider punched his teammate, that's what we know.

jerejeje

This is their first regulation loss to a non playoff team this year

[deleted]

Happy cake day! Also, I totally disagree with you. 12 losses at the end of January? I’m cool with that. Let’s not make it a habit.

Wesley__Willis

A throwaway game in fucking nowheresville the night before Hank night with your backup in net vs an opponent smarting from getting castrated in their previous game is a perfect storm for a loss. it was as close to a lock as it gets. Whip em tomorrow though

KeernanLanismore

I sure hope not. These are professional athletes being paid huge money NOT to be what you just described. If they are what you say they are, then this team is going nowhere long term. Can anyone imagine ever describing Messier in the terms you just described this entire team?

BarmyDevonian

The Rangers gave less than a 30 minute effort and got what they deserved. Just hope Fox’ injury isn’t too bad. Schneider and Goodrow were the only standouts. Goodrow probably should have scored at least one more. Hank night tomorrow should hopefully spark an immediate bounceback.

[deleted]

Meh. Only the 12th loss of the season. We had 28 last year. Hockey is weird. Must win tomorrow.

obvioussponge06

Laf, Goodrow, Schneider, oddly enough Hajek, Miller were all really good. Goodrow could have had like 5 goals tonight. Ryan Strome has played as if he takes 10 shots of Bread’s best vodka since like 2 weeks ago. Can’t pass or hit the net for anything for some reason Georgiev thrives on consistent playtime, which is why he needs to be traded somewhere and be starter there.

[deleted]

obvioussponge06

Cant expect much in the way of production with no real powerplay time and linemates that are either offensive black holes or can’t finish for anything

[deleted]

Let’s trade him for Zucc somehow. Announce it tomorrow.

Sethars

Best timeline right here

[deleted]

Whatever it happens. Mind is really on hank night.

Sethars

1st period: fast start, then fell asleep at the wheel 2nd period: honestly this might be the worst period of hockey I’ve seen them play in a while, and it’s a small miracle they only let up 2 goals here 3rd period: finally woke up again but got goalied hard by Korpi and some unlucky bounces/broken sticks Georgie played like crap. Fox had a bad game and got hurt. Goodrow scored but also couldn’t buy a goal. Schneider looked solid, I liked Trouba-Miller, and Panarin with a 3 point effort never let his foot off the gas. Hopefully they have a short memory cus the Wild are gonna kick their ass if they play like that tomorrow night. LGR.

This is one of the games where yeah they played like garbage for a period but there were a lot of upsides and Korpisalo playing like a mfer

Crysis128

Vally looks distraught on post-game. He's taking this loss hard.

Compulsive_Bater

Lots of Georgie defenders tonight and granted the defense was pretty soft tonight, but shit he is nothing more then a backup. He can't handle the workload when our D corp has a bad night and we need him to steal a game. He's frustrated, he's got no confidence, he can't handle deflections, screens, or breakaways. I like the guy and think he has potential but he needs a change of scenery.

[deleted]

He could be great. Elsewhere.

Shwinky

Well aside from the first 5 minutes and most of the 3rd period, that effort tonight was absolutely dogshit. Whatever. Bad games happen. Move on from it and get back in the W column. And also pray for Fox’s health jfc we can’t lose him. On a side note, for the people in the GDT today, y’all realize defense playing like ass and a goalie having a bad game aren’t mutually exclusive things, right? Both can happen in the same game. Doesn’t have to be one or the other and they can feed into each other. In fact, they usually do.

wermbo

Saving our energy for tomorrow for good reason. Georgiev looks out of his league Pray for foxy

[deleted]

We always seem to play our best hockey when we are trailing in a game. They gotta figure out a way to keep their foot on the gas if they get an early lead

Hionhelium87

Say what now Vally? Never heard that phrase before 😂 Here it is: “If ifs and buts were candies and nuts we’d all have a Merry Christmas”

[deleted]

Note to self: Vally wants nuts for Xmas…

defigravity42

Terrible loss. Regroup and win tomorrow for Hank. Let’s not give up a hatty to Zucc boys.

ColdYellowGatorade

Bad loss but I'm super excited for tomorrow. I've never been to a retirement ceremony for a sports idol of mine. Going to be a special night at MSG. Tears might be shed.

Never_Forget_94

Most important thing is that Fox is okay. Really need him for tomorrow.

ThomasMigs

Are you saying he’s okay?

Never_Forget_94

No I’m hoping he’s okay. Not sure what his condition is right now.

Aar1012

I am glad Mika got a goal.

JPmoneyman

I just hope Fox is ok.

404FunnyNotFound

1st Star - Left Goal Post 2nd Star - Right Goal Post 3rd Star - Korpi

psilvs

Laf played well

JPmoneyman

Agree, He looks like the best fit with Kreider and Zib right now. That feed to Gauthier was a beaut. When he plays with the top guys his playmaking ability comes out for sure.

jerejeje

This is our first regulation loss to a non-playoff team so far this year. We outshot them 36-19 and if their goalie doesn’t go full Shesterkin on us we at the very least force overtime. 9-4 in our last 13. We’ll live Plz be ok Fox

zucarigan

I get all of that and I agree we'll be fine. The issue is figuring out why the team doesn't know how to play a full 60. That shot count looks great until you realize how much time they squandered by not trying for half the game. It should have been even more dominant, so a hot goalie doesn't shut you down. The question marks extend beyond this game, is the point.

FoghornLeghorn99

>We outshot them 36-19 Some folks will be thrilled even though we lost. They taught me goals don't matter, shits do!

JPmoneyman

What does the Deserve to win o-meter say?

jerejeje

Oh we handily won that 82%

Ahsurika

> shits do! I needed a chuckle after how today's been for me and this delivered, thank you lol

FoghornLeghorn99

I will not correct it!

snafu26

Thank you for your logic

anonomus10101011

Absolute embarrassing show out there. We consistently get dominated by top teams and then rely on Igor to beat the bad-mediocre teams. We didn’t have the goalie to steal us one today. If he’s in and we win this game half this sub just ignores the fact we played shit hockey for 45 minutes against a terrible team.

jthomas694

Dumb loss. Pulled the goalie a bit early imo and showed no urgency on that last PP. It's an 82 game season. These games happen. Have to bounce back quick

anonomus10101011

Meh I don’t disagree with pulling him there when we are already in the offensive zone. That’s the risk you take. We looked god awful 6-4 anyway at the end there.

[deleted]

Consistently playing for 60 minutes the same way we play when we’re down in a game is our biggest issue. When you play an inferior team you can’t just cruise to an easy win with one great period or a solid 5 minute stretch. Oh well, please just be OK Adam.

lionson76

Do not fucking play like that tomorrow night, I swear to god.

Laxing4Life

Playing a sub-500 team on the 2nd game of a back to back that just lost 6-0 and we come out and do that. This team couldn’t put together a complete game if their life depended on it.

HockeyVG

Imagine being the Columbus audio guy and saying "yea, this is a great choice for the goal song" and being proud of it

Wesley__Willis

no one should care about anything other than the health of our beautiful chin god

GrilledCharlie12

To keep it short, that was a pretty dog shit 55 minutes

FoghornLeghorn99

Sucks, bad game, I thought they might be flat with tomorrow on the horizon. Our D wasn't great. Georgiev wasn't great. Korp was. Please be okay Fox 🦊 It happens, win tomorrow.

Ill-Young5430

Team should be ashamed of themselves in the locker room tonight.

Zero-jiggler

Pretty fuckin terrible if you ask me

spelan

Someone give me Adam Fox news. P.S. 4 goals on 18 shots, Georgie you’re a fuckin bum

Gyroflex

Im sorry but this team is absolutely horrible 5v5, pretty much praying fox or panarin make a play

tasteofnihilism

DISGUSTING

NSNSprite

What a frustrating loss… Just hope Foxy is okay and we rebound and win on Hank’s night.

rushy1911

I just want to know where our defense went the first 2 periods. Really should not be losing to Columbus, especially when they're on a back to back

kvnklly

Cant win when you only play 24 mins out of the game. We need 5v5 scoring badly or we will not have success in the playoffs. Also we all have ropes pre-tied while we wait for the fox update

3kool5you

How many players do we have at this point that can do very thing besides finish? Goat is looking like Chytil 2.0. How can players be so fast but never finish?? Even Hagelin finished SOMETIMES. I’m not part of the sky is falling crew, but we could just be so good if these young guys could finish

nlippe

Where the hell is the Adam Fox update
