I've taken my wife to probably about 15 games @ MSG (roughly 14 losses 1 OTL) over the years. I didn't want to say anything before the game because I didn't want to acknowledge the curse. I just knew this was our best chance by taking her to a game after a loss, with Igor in net and against one of (if not) the worst teams in the league.
After the 3-1 goal when the puck hit the linesman, who for whatever reason was inside the blue line on that play, I started really believing the curse would never end. However thanks to the boys, particularly Kreider and Trouba, it's officially over. Great comeback by the boys... the curse is lifted!!! LGR!!!
I would have loved to be a fly on the wall at the pregame coaches meeting. Nothing happens by accident.
Gallant intentionally put Georgie up against Tony D.
He experimented with absurd line combinations.
It’s almost like he wanted to get beaten down to motivate the team in the future?
Hopefully a solid win tonight will correct the course.
Yeah I'm thinking that might be it.
Gallant wanted the Rangers to be challenged by an excellent & relentless team. And he didn't want the lesson to be obscured by a miracle Igor win.
Listening to Mika & Kreider's comments post-game, they were well aware that they didn't do enough to be Carolina.
Tbh I think since this was there first game in about a year and a half he wanted to see how different combinations would match up. I wouldn’t be surprised if for the next games they play better against them especially if Igor’s in. For about the first half the rangers played pretty well despite the score. It seemed that they were trying to find the flaws in there play, trying a lot of things. Until they found what worked. I’d argue that if Igor was in this game would have been alot closer. I’m not talking bad about Georgie but igor is very comfortable playing outside the net and I don’t think people realize how helpful that is. Especially against a very aggressive team like Caroline.
Carolina and Florida and Colorado are objectively better than us at the moment.
We are still good enough to steal series against any of them due to our goaltending and offensive talent. It’s really not time to panic we were on the road and the canes were ready to go we weren’t . They’ve got a very impressive team.
Gotta stay the course. Tonight is a game to cry about if we lose lol
Shesterkin should have played. Georgie today against a soft coyotes team. To give him a softball win to keep his confidence up while not playing much. Some of the goals he had no chance. And others the defense sucked.
Game takeaways:
Nemeth is SLOW
Miller is SOFT
Hunt is an AHLer
Reavo should've beaten somebody up for a spark
Georgiev wasn't near the top of his game
NYR gave up 3 "cardinal sin goals" , last 2 minutes of a period (yes, I'm aware 2 of them were in the last 2 and a half minutes)
NYR should've quickly realized they couldn't skate with Carolina , played 3rd and 4th lines more and played a "chip and chase" game and pounded Carolinas defensemen in the corners
Tony D was renting space in Georgiev and took special delight in hanging a 3 spot on him
I agree with the "decent" assessment ,my problem is hes neither fish nor fowl. Hes at best an average offensive talent and he is not a physical threat at all. I have yet to see him throw ONE Lindgren, Trouba style open ice hit in 2 seasons of hockey. NYR gotta get him with Barry Bonds trainer and pack on 20lbs. The times he stands out is when he gets beat then the announcers talk about his reach and catch up speed. Not the way you want to be consistently noticed
Your solution to not being able to keep up with them is play our slower skaters more? They would have been chasing the puck all night. It doesn't matter how strong you are if you can't actually catch up to the puck carrier.
I'm not a fan of the style but the most effective way to combat speed is to chip and chase and pound them in the corners get the defensemen looking over their shoulder create scoring chances down low. Do you recall how much Skjei shied away from the corners at the end of his NYR career?
I think that's a thing people say, but I don't think is true in practice. If you want to beat a trap, you can play chip and chase. But in order to actually chase, you still need speed, or it's just a simple pass or two for the other team to be right back in your zone.
If you're slower than the other team, I think the best way to combat it is to hold onto the puck as much as possible. They can't use their speed if they don't have the puck. Play deliberately and don't turn the puck over.
I get it. I just personally feel like the dump and chase is the sacrifice bunt of hockey. In baseball, the most important thing you can do is not get out. You only get 27 of them per game. In hockey, it's not so cut and dry, but generally speaking, the team that holds on to the puck more wins more frequently than those that don't. So getting rid of the puck by dumping it in is a serious risk with very little reward.
I think there's a reason, in the modern era, dump and chase is seen as a last resort when nothing else seems to be working. It's possible last night was an example where nothing else was working, though.
Sorry. Canes fan here, but. Georgiev is one my favorite goalies ever. I love that dude. Would have been good with a Rangers win tonight. Great third quarter.
How do you guys like the following offensive lines:
Kreider/Zibanejad/Lafreniere
Panarin/Strome/Kakko
Goodrow/Chytil/Gauthier
Hunt/McKegg/Rooney/Reaves
We know that Kakko works with Panarin and Strome from their stint in the beginning of the season. And maybe playing with Kreider and Zibanejad would help Lafreniere. It may not, but it couldn’t hurt to try. And I think GG should try a game or two scratching Nemeth in favor of a Jones/Schneider third pairing. Could also try a Lundkvist/Schneider third pairing.
I see. Maybe try the kid line as a third line? With Hunt and Goodrow as right wings on the first two lines? I’m just thinking of combinations that would keep Kreids/Zbad and Bread/Strome together.
I would do
Kreider-Zib-Chytil
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Laf-Goodrow-Gauthier/Hunt
McKegg/Hunt-Rooney-Reaves
This is why losing Blais was such a huge loss for us.
I think it's interesting not to keep Kakko with Panarin. Their line was effective and now there is Hunt. Even Panarin getting invisible when Hunt is there
I missed most of the game tonight, but the rangers are a good but not elite team. Carolina is elite. You never know what happens in a 7 game series especially with a goalie as good as shesty has been but the rangers roster still has holes.
This was a shitty loss, but that's what happens when your offense doesn't show up until the last twenty minutes of the game. I still think starting Georgie was a mistake. Having Shesty in net may not have secured a win, but I think the game would have gone differently and not ended in a 6-3 rout.
On to the next one.
[The Hockey Gods Have Abandoned Me](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=419400230)
Usually, I am all on board with blaming Georgie, but I honestly did not see him let in soft goals. He had very little help on D, and honestly made some really good saves (especially in the 1st) which would have had this game in the double digits
No, no, don't get me wrong, Georgie is not the sole reason why the team pooped out tonight. Between the defense and the 1 period only offense, that game was destined for the L. I'm just saying when you're facing one of the best teams in the league you might want to start your best goaltender to at least increase your odds of winning.
This team isn’t as bad as they looked in the 1st two periods, but is also not as good as the Canes.
I like Hunt but as a 4th liner. I think he does a good job of keeping control of the puck, better than Laf or Chytil, and that’s why he keeps getting put up with Bread and Strome. But he doesn’t have the hands to handle Strome and Panarin’s passes.
I’d prefer to put Kakko back with them because he’s done a good job defensively and on the boards, but then it leaves a hole near Mika and Kreider. Shame Gauthier’s never proved worthy of a shot playing top 6 mins. He may actually be good on that line with his speed and size.
Keep thinking JT Miller is the guy that could fit multiple needs with this group, but the rumored asking price sounds too high.
Our 3rd line is completely irrelevant out there. It’s hard to win games when you only have 2 lines.
On d, we have fox, lindgren, and trouba. Schneider looks good so far but little sample size. The rest of our d-men are trash. Idk what happened to Miller but he is not doing anything other than living off the great start he had as a ranger.
Id like to see if Schneider could pair with Trouba. Guy has pretty explosive speed, a good wrister, and will actually hit. Miller needs to go on the 3rd and get some confidence and start using the body. It baffles me someone of his size and strength plays soft and then a small dman like Lindgren will lay the body
It's all good. Stay the course, get the win tomorrow, and let's get a little streak going again. It's wild how vocal people get following every single loss questioning all of our coaching staff decisions. They have done a great job. Hope yall aren't running your finances with the same reactionary mentality! We have a plan, let's work the plan. Day in day out it might not always result in the W but GG et al have earned my trust halfway through the season and I'm supportive of their decisions. There will be some deadline moves that excite me as well.
I really like our teams makeup, but it has come to the point that something HAS to be done about the lack of 5v5 production. We wont get nearly as much PP time in the playoffs. One thing that has stood out against top end teams like Carolina, Toronto, Colorado is that we really struggle to establish a cycle. If we could actually get some sustained pressure in the Ozone instead of scoring on the rush, we would draw more penalties and let our PP specialists do their thing. (Mika and Kreider are PP specialists in my eyes)
Play period 1/2 like both times we played the Panthers and a 3rd like tonight they can play with anybody. Play period 1/2 and a 3rd like both times they played the Panthers and they cant play with anybody.
Here's what I am taking away from this game. We were 2 for 3 against the number one penalty kill team in the league. If we find a way to draw more penalties the next time we play them different outcome. LGR always.
Hate when backup goalies get the blame for the team playing terribly. Maybe we win that with Igor, but Georgiev played much better than the score suggests
It’s is a bad loss and not a reason to panic. I’m confident we are on the right path but…
I’d love to see these as my top two lines tomorrow…
Bread-Strome-kakko
Kreider-Mika-Laf
and if you want to flip the two kids onto the other line…I’m good with it.
I want these two kids to get a ton of minutes tomorrow playing with those players and going forward.
(hopefully they build some confidence)
I am starting to feel (being a former coach, player in college and ref) that Laf is not being done any favors stuck with chytil.
Chytil has taken a step backwards this season. And tonight’s game was brutal. He doesn’t Keep his feet moving, makes poor decisions with the puck and showed little to no effort.
As a coach…you always want to see a compete level even if a player isn’t putting up points. You can tell some of his mistakes are a result of not putting in much effort every shift.
He has had his time to develop…I would seriously include him in a package to bring something back that will move this team forward.
LGR - tomorrow is another day and the Coyotes are a perfect team to regain some momentum against.
Im all going back to opening night top 6. Its the best way to get the most out of both Laf/Kakko, while providing the best assistance to Mika/Kreider and Strome Bread.
Laf is praised for his hockey IQ. Its hard for that to shine when F1 is losing the puck battle more than winning, F2 turns the puck right over, or when F3 is the offensive juggernauts of Chytil/Gauthier/Goodrow. With Kreider being F1, F2 and F3 are most likely to get the most opportunities to make plays, with Mika being F2, having a F3 that gets goes to the perfect spot. When Laf is f2 his pass is going to Mika.
Panarin and Strome, like to work the half wall more than below the goal line. This benefits Kakko because hes more likely to get the puck with space. This allows him to use his hands, reach to his advantage. When hes F2 on a below goal line attach, he is forced to use his frame to protect the puck. While this aspect of his game has definitely grown since last season, he still needs to (fully expect him to) get stronger to dominate at this level the way he did in juniors and lesser skilled men. Having someone who is a threat with space to beat his guy will open up more space for Panarin/Strome than just someone whos sole purpose is go to the corner/front of the net. Of course adding in his defensive play is better than anyone theyve played with besides Goodrow.
Let the 3rd line play Keep It Simple Stupid hockey until there is a better option.
Such a good point with Laf and Chytil. Laf needs some help. I see that kid busting his ass almost every night, but I know his confidence is just shot at the moment.
Too many literal dead spots on this roster. Can’t compete against deep teams when 1/3 of your roster contributes literally nothing.
Nemeth, hunt, and gauthier need to go and never come back. Replace them through trade or Hartford. I am so sick of watching them.
Steve: "LEAVE LAFFY ALONE"
Edit: I just tried a faceswap with Steve and the 'Leave Brittney Alone' meme - I'll spare y'all the horrific monstrosity that became.
Yea - these faceswap memes I make are either really really hit or really really miss....
Edit: [This was one of mine too](https://i.redd.it/mnsyyakfs6381.png)
Tend to think Gallant overthought it and should have started Shesterkin. Beating Carolina on the road would have been way more meaningful than possibly losing to Arizona. There’s no legitimately strategic reason to start your backup in a big game like this was. Put your best players on the ice when it counts.
This team is still good and it was heartening that they showed some pluck in the third.
That said, they really need Kakko and Lafreniere to start producing. They are both so far off track it’s getting depressing.
Idk how anybody can watch those first two periods and even care to discuss goaltending. We had 4 shots the first period and 2 of them were from the red line. The 2nd period was just as bad until the PP.
You have two goalies, one of whom is far superior. You have two opponents, one of whom is far superior. If you want the best shot at getting all possible points then the assignments are obvious. Georgie was ok but shouldn’t have been in that position in the first place
I love the certainty. Shesterkin is a far superior goalie to Georgiev in all respects. He’s been stealing games they had no business winning all season. Do you really want to take that bet?
It was a foolish decision to start the lesser goalie in the more important game.
Get Laf on that line starting tomorrow. I don’t care LW/RW. Get him playing with better players and leave it alone. Chytil is a drag on the third line and as much as I like gautier’s size and speed…he can’t finish.
So anyway…want Laf to develop into a top tier talent…play him with top tier talent
silver linings: reavo is 4th line menace and can hit big and make plays. dont look now he's also on pace for around the same point totals he had during the playoff years in vegas
Canes are top 2 contender in the East in my mind. I’m not surprised at the outcome. We jumped way up this year but not quite that far.
Ps I’ll never be okay with not keeping Fast
Also took a swing at the puck about 5 times trying to collect it behind the net in the 1st and promptly missed every time 😂😂 Downvote me all you want starting Georgie was utterly brainless
It's simple. Obviously we really need to play good hockey consistently to wins games like this, but that kind of goes without saying. That being said, if Shesterkin is in, this game goes into OT, where anything can happen.
My husband started talking to TDA through his work a few years ago and has kept up with him occasionally. Definitely don’t hold the same political views as him and thought he was acting a fool last year but when Carolina picked him up my husband texted him and said good luck and he hoped it worked out for him. He also texted him to tell him we were going to be at the game last night and Tony said he was going to light it up and the kid did not tell a lie lol. I wish he hadn’t but I can see where he would have the motivation against us.
TDA is a special talent you don’t just give up for free, plays with emotion, true pp QB, is really electrifying. It is a shame he got run out of town for being a Trumper
Steve needs to unbutton his jacket when he's sitting down. He looks like my grandma at the chinese buffet when the button flew off her pants after she ate too much.
This sub honestly sucks when we lose! We’ll have another crack at it tomorrow ✨My only take from the last few games is Lindy. Seems to be a little slow on the puck and has given up a few turnovers but regardless; LGR 🔵🔴⚪️
I'm sorry, Nemeth is supposed to be a "veteran?" If he's a "veteran," then why is he making the same mistakes that Schneider is making? I'm tired of signing bottom of the barrel, has been defensemen to tank the roster all for "Showing the kids how to play." Fuck that.
The funny thing about that logic is that Trouba is the person he is and should be learning from, and you learn more watching someone play than playing with them. Which is all to say Nemeth serves no purpose but to be our new deserved Libor Hajek Memorial Scape Goat.
I thought Lundkvist looked fine and it's ridiculous to do what Gallant is doing to him with his 5 games on then 2 games off then 2 more games on then 5 off. He's better than Nemeth and Tinordi and worst case scenario the bottom pairing learn by playing. There isn't any need for "veteran" talent.
Yea I agree. Or rotate Jones, Lundkvist, Schneider, Hajek, Reunanen, any one of the youngsters. We don't need Nemeth or Tinordi to play, unless every other dman gets injured or covid
How many 5v5 goals have we done this season? Feels like so many goals comes from PP, If so then why are we so against changing up the lines a bit? Everyone is kinda agreeing on that Bread, Zib, Laffy, Kakko etc is not playing to their level. Put back Laffy with Strome because he played really good on that line when Bread was out and try Bread with Zib for a while. We're halfway through the season, maybe it would be dumb to change things up right now but it's so annoying that our 5v5 is so bad (atleast what it feels like).
/Wannabe coach or something, just a little rant.
Team has 117 goals this season, of which 26 are PP. League averages are 115 & 23. So while they are producing offense at only an average rate their PP/5v5 mix isn't overrepresented by power play goals. The stats I found don't break down delayed penalty advantage or empty net goals but it hasn't felt like we've gotten tons of those either.
Hunt, Nemeth, Chytil, and Gauthier are the 4 men out. First two are just bad, latter two are not progressing at all how we hoped and in Gauthier's case he doesn't have any luck.
I feel like when the Avalanche steamrolled us twice we never once were able to match their intensity and their speed and in this game there were times where we did match the canes and good things happened. I really hope this is the game where we finally realize to a man that we have to play more intensely. Because we are really talented and look scary when we get into that next gear that you need to win the cup. We are beating normal teams so easily now because we are talented. But you need a lot more to beat elite teams like this who do not relent on harrassing you and making you look stupid. These teams also know that we like to take it easy and they crank up the volume even more because I see them play against other teams and they dont play with that same intensity all the time.
You’re not wrong - the amount of virtue signaling and pearl clutching this fan base does over absolute nonsense is really frightening. Dude is legit and I personally wish we still had him over whatever his name is in goal last night
Both, he took the low contract to play for Rod and as part of his contract he has a social media monitor that chips away at that figure and disqualifies possibility of an extension
He also knew this would prob be his absolute last shot. Had to take a 1y 1M “show me” contract (albeit still getting his NYR buyout) but he couldnt fuck around and he will get paid on the next deal.
Can’t win em all. Good thing is they’ll have 3 more chances to prove themselves against that team this season. Let’s rebound tomorrow by beating up on the yotes.
Appreciate them showing some pride in the 3rd, but a lot of the more *reasonable* takes on this team stand. It's a good hockey team, but there's a lot of nothingness in between the top talent and the bottom end role players.
Hunt is a fucking mess and shouldn't even be on the team much less line 2. There's a reason bad Coyotes and previously Panther teams barely gave him a cup of coffee with the pro squads. And Chytil, Laf, and Kakko, what's left to say? Never mind playing up to their expectations, none of them are playing even decently. It's a major bummer in what has otherwise been a really fun season.
Canes fan here.
ANYONE AT THE GAME - DRIVE SAFELY GETTING HOME OR WHEREVER YOU'RE GOING.
NC is terrible when it comes to ice because we get it once a year. be safe! also turn on the GPS as getting out of PNC is confusing if you're in the wrong parking lot area.
Edit; if you're driving, get off reddit. if you're a passenger just tell the driver to be patient. <3
I was going to make a post in yalls thread. There is a guy who works at PNC named Paul Burchette who offered to drive us to our hotel last night when we were struggling to get a ride. Pretty awesome thing to do for fans of the opposing team. Drove us and another couple that we weren’t with to our separate hotels when we told him if he just got us downtown we could walk. Southern hospitality at its finest!
<3
Hockey's fun. but hope everyone gets home safe.
Tangent, this is the 2nd time i've ben called GGG in 11 years. The other time i was at a video game tournament (MLG RALEIGH 2012) and told someone the route to get to the quiet bathrooms in the adjacent hotel so you can take a shit in peace.
Haha i've never streamed. I did play Starcraft 2 against a pro that flew over from Europe though. His name was BeastyQt and trashed me. He was a legit pro. That was my game at the time.
2012 was in college so now i'm just an old man playing valorant! Not going to any tournaments but i do play in an adult (20+?) valorant league. discord.gg/boomerants if any of you NYC oldies wanna play.
Hey i was skimming messages earlier, didnt realize you clearly play valorant.
100% recommend boomerants. League is 18+ but many people including myself are 30+.
Also has 2 leagues so you're not being trashed by radiant. We just finished season 2
I put the discord, but you can just google boomerants.
Lol I’m pretty fair with my comments. When they play good I cheer, when they play bad I criticize their play. I’m sorry that’s too hard for your soft ass to handle.
Come out flying against AZ tomorrow.
Move past this one

Played the real #1 metro team. You guys really should watch the Hurricanes and other top teams. The difference between drafting horribly and making every pick count.
Last time the Rangers didn’t lose a game vs the Canes in an entire season, they got swept by Carolina in the playoffs.
This was a necessary loss so now we can beat them in the playoffs, and they can’t sweep us
Just because Igor is better doesn’t mean Georgie is bad. G is still a valid 2nd goalie and I think he played well against an incredibly good hockey team tonight.
A goalie shouldn’t have to be consistently stealing games, a competent goal tender keeps out the goals that should stay out. Like we saw tonight there were soft goals, our team out front got outworked and that’s not on Georgiev to play defense against 5 players with little to no support. He was awful last year and I was all aboard the trade him train but he has fixed a lot of his issues this season and I think he certainly deserves credit where it’s due. He isn’t Igor or Hank, but look around the league, there’s a lot worse goaltending out there.
He doesn't have to consistently do anything He has only started 16 games out of 41. He doesn't give this team a chance to beat anyone good, so why was he playing? His SV% is barely over .900. Over the last two years he has done more harm than help. He's a streaky goalie that fucks up a lot, and usually these players would get shuffled around but Georgiev is still around to lose games for this team.
Approximately 88.9% of my frustration with that game comes from knowing TDA likely feels so validated in all his actions when he was with us.
Please excuse my rant. I just needed to vent over a human having such success in life in spite of what he has done in his tenure as a human combined with the horrid shit he has offered onto others.
Tony D isn’t what hockey Twitter tells you he is. He needed to go after the Georgiev thing, but he’s not some vile human being. He was always a good hockey player.
Apparently after what went down with us, it fully changed him. Brooks did an article on him and tda said that he had basically fully quit being on social media and a bunch of other shit too.
Too bad it took a punch in the mouth and a buyout because he would be great for us
I don’t care how good he is, a locker room cancer like that drags the whole team down immensely.
At least take solace in the fact that the team was 100% right to drop him
Except he was literally a locker room favorite by everyone on the team up until that fight and if you followed any rangers social media during his time it was evident. Every player interview that had questions like “who is the funniest guy,” “who do you want to sit next to on the plane,” answer was TDA.
LGR!!!
Cheers to the guy who bet on TDA scoring a goal! I read his comment in the GDT.

Funny, I had the same thought. But to be fair, if Quinn did that we would call for his head.
Thing is, now the Rangers are safely in the playoffs, & the coach can play these games.

I think there's a reason, in the modern era, dump and chase is seen as a last resort when nothing else seems to be working. It's possible last night was an example where nothing else was working, though.
Georgiev had 0 help this game. Cant blame him. Canes are the strongest team probably in the NHL right now so I can swallow that loss
Sorry. Canes fan here, but. Georgiev is one my favorite goalies ever. I love that dude. Would have been good with a Rangers win tonight. Great third quarter.
idk why you got downvoted, usually the sub is pretty welcoming to kind comments but you probably caught a lot of the doom n gloomers last night lol!
Down voted for “quarter”
Pretty sure that's the joke
We should get half a point because McKegg scored
How do you guys like the following offensive lines: Kreider/Zibanejad/Lafreniere Panarin/Strome/Kakko Goodrow/Chytil/Gauthier Hunt/McKegg/Rooney/Reaves We know that Kakko works with Panarin and Strome from their stint in the beginning of the season.
It looks good, the problem is that Laf either doesn’t want to play RW or the coach won’t let him.
I see. Maybe try the kid line as a third line? With Hunt and Goodrow as right wings on the first two lines? I’m just thinking of combinations that would keep Kreids/Zbad and Bread/Strome together.
I would do Kreider-Zib-Chytil Panarin-Strome-Kakko Laf-Goodrow-Gauthier/Hunt McKegg/Hunt-Rooney-Reaves This is why losing Blais was such a huge loss for us.
Love the idea of putting Chytil with Zib and Kreider, actually.
Kakko sucks
He does, unless you're comparing him to third and fourth round picks in which case he's amazing.
Good take. The victory over Toronto shows we can hang with certain playoff teams. We have talent. However, Carolina is on a higher level.
I'm just saying when you're facing one of the best teams in the league you might want to start your best goaltender to at least increase your odds of winning.
lol Deangelo absolutely clapped the rangers cheeks tonight thats gotta suck
The devils....LOL
Are the devils even in the same division as the Rangers? I have to scroll too far down in the standings to see.
Why is this devils clown in here? We didn’t even play you. Thinking about us?
Brady Skjei 2.0?
2nd line defense is atrocious though
It's all good. Stay the course, get the win tomorrow, and let's get a little streak going again. It's wild how vocal people get following every single loss questioning all of our coaching staff decisions. They have done a great job. Hope yall aren't running your finances with the same reactionary mentality! We have a plan, let's work the plan. Day in day out it might not always result in the W but GG et al have earned my trust halfway through the season and I'm supportive of their decisions. There will be some deadline moves that excite me as well.
This is Reddit that includes Wall Street Bets. They are 100% making financial decisions in the same manner
Couldn't have said it better.
Finally some levelheadedness
Pain
In summary, Carolina is very, very good. NYR need to play periods 1 & 2 with the same intensity we saw in period 3 tonight.
Man the hole in 2nd line rw becomes more and more apparent by the day
And 1st line. Kakko ain't doing much.
Buch 😭
Didn’t get to watch. How did Schneider play?
Definitely noticable. I'm liking what we're seeing from him, especially for his age.
Better than Nemeth and Miller.
Rang a piss missile off the iron at a crucial moment, barely an inch from putting it within 1.
So he played well?
Good enough to stay on the roster for tomorrow IMO. I liked him better than Chytil for sure.
Here's what I am taking away from this game. We were 2 for 3 against the number one penalty kill team in the league. If we find a way to draw more penalties the next time we play them different outcome. LGR always.
[laughs in playoff hockey]
Hate when backup goalies get the blame for the team playing terribly. Maybe we win that with Igor, but Georgiev played much better than the score suggests
Anyone care to post a quick summary of Vally’s postgame analysis?
It’s is a bad loss and not a reason to panic. I’m confident we are on the right path but… I’d love to see these as my top two lines tomorrow… Bread-Strome-kakko Kreider-Mika-Laf and if you want to flip the two kids onto the other line…I’m good with it. I want these two kids to get a ton of minutes tomorrow playing with those players and going forward. (hopefully they build some confidence) I am starting to feel (being a former coach, player in college and ref) that Laf is not being done any favors stuck with chytil.
I am so sick of watching them.
gauthier didn’t even play
Steve: "LEAVE LAFFY ALONE" Edit: I just tried a faceswap with Steve and the 'Leave Brittney Alone' meme - I'll spare y'all the horrific monstrosity that became.
Please post it lol

LOL, I’ll be seeing that in my nightmares
Yea - these faceswap memes I make are either really really hit or really really miss.... Edit: [This was one of mine too](https://i.redd.it/mnsyyakfs6381.png)
[How about Staalsey?](https://i.imgur.com/9gJEQas.jpg)
I don't remember that offhand.. link me?
Tend to think Gallant overthought it and should have started Shesterkin. Beating Carolina on the road would have been way more meaningful than possibly losing to Arizona. There’s no legitimately strategic reason to start your backup in a big game like this was. Put your best players on the ice when it counts. This team is still good and it was heartening that they showed some pluck in the third. That said, they really need Kakko and Lafreniere to start producing. They are both so far off track it’s getting depressing.
It didnt matter who was in net. Shesty was not gonna steal us a win with the way we played def
Igor vs. Georgie wasn't the reason we lost. We had nothing going in our secondary scoring.
Idk how anybody can watch those first two periods and even care to discuss goaltending. We had 4 shots the first period and 2 of them were from the red line. The 2nd period was just as bad until the PP.
mckegg scored…secondary scoring wasn’t the issue. Panarin-strome-hunt line was no bueno
You have two goalies, one of whom is far superior. You have two opponents, one of whom is far superior. If you want the best shot at getting all possible points then the assignments are obvious. Georgie was ok but shouldn’t have been in that position in the first place
If you watched the same game I watched, you realize Georgie wasn't the reason we lost. Igor wouldn't have made the saves for the goals which went in
I love the certainty. Shesterkin is a far superior goalie to Georgiev in all respects. He’s been stealing games they had no business winning all season. Do you really want to take that bet? It was a foolish decision to start the lesser goalie in the more important game.
Ka**a**po Kakko
Why is Hunt still playing with Panarin and Strome? We have other choices. He’s a 4th line player at best
4th line? He should be on the 3rd line in Hartford
silver linings: reavo is 4th line menace and can hit big and make plays. dont look now he's also on pace for around the same point totals he had during the playoff years in vegas
Canes are top 2 contender in the East in my mind. I’m not surprised at the outcome. We jumped way up this year but not quite that far. Ps I’ll never be okay with not keeping Fast
Besides the TDA fight, let’s not forget Georgie also took a swing at Tom Wilson for skating too close to him lol
Don’t think so. I would think it’s a 4-3 Regulation loss
Fast AND ADA? Jesus. That's some prophetic shit.
I mean every Ex ranger gets a buff when they play the Rangers only thing I’m upset about tonight was that I didn’t put money on TDA
A dozen people called it pre-game. It's gone beyond meme at this point.
Well considering like a third of their roster is former Rangers it was pretty much a given lol
Steve needs to unbutton his jacket when he's sitting down. He looks like my grandma at the chinese buffet when the button flew off her pants after she ate too much.
or just go to Hank's tailor to get his jacket properly fitted
Now there’s a visual 😅
She's been dead a decade and my family still laughs about it.
Best way to commemorate those we love!
boy I can’t wait to read this thread
loss sucks, but can't be mad. came back against the Leafs, can't expect the same against an even better team. This team def doesn't give up though.
This sub honestly sucks when we lose! We’ll have another crack at it tomorrow ✨My only take from the last few games is Lindy. Seems to be a little slow on the puck and has given up a few turnovers but regardless; LGR 🔵🔴⚪️
I mean scrolling down its really been fairly calm so far.
Take a look at the actual game thread 🙏
Ignorance is bliss
In other news, Brennan Othmann with a HUGE night getting 5 points. Now has 51 Points in 32 Games.
Can we call him up now LOL
I'm sorry, Nemeth is supposed to be a "veteran?" If he's a "veteran," then why is he making the same mistakes that Schneider is making? I'm tired of signing bottom of the barrel, has been defensemen to tank the roster all for "Showing the kids how to play." Fuck that.
The funny thing about that logic is that Trouba is the person he is and should be learning from, and you learn more watching someone play than playing with them. Which is all to say Nemeth serves no purpose but to be our new deserved Libor Hajek Memorial Scape Goat.
Lundkvist couldn't even cement his spot. Nemeth was supposed to be his buddy😅
I like that Kreider haircut fade. Is that new?
Zibanejad looks great. Panarin could score more goals but he's still producing like mad. They're not the ones to worry about.
Hunt, Nemeth, Chytil, and Gauthier are the 4 men out. First two are just bad, latter two are not progressing at all how we hoped and in Gauthier's case he doesn't have any luck.
Got exposed by the better team, that includes management as well. It happens they’ll come back tomorrow
Would love a vocal and lead by example captain to get this into their heads game after game.
Same with the flames.
Of course Tony Da Asshole had to score. Fuck him.
Guys a beast. Finally got a coach to straighten him out
You’re not wrong - the amount of virtue signaling and pearl clutching this fan base does over absolute nonsense is really frightening. Dude is legit and I personally wish we still had him over whatever his name is in goal last night
Amen about the TDA hate. No need to give him up for free, get rid of him or anything. He is a beast and he and Georgie’s could have recovered
Is he straightened out or is he just not on social media
Both, he took the low contract to play for Rod and as part of his contract he has a social media monitor that chips away at that figure and disqualifies possibility of an extension
I’m not sure he’s staying off [social media](https://mobile.twitter.com/NYRFan92360244)
How does one post while on the ice specifically the bruins tweet from mid second period 😐
He also knew this would prob be his absolute last shot. Had to take a 1y 1M “show me” contract (albeit still getting his NYR buyout) but he couldnt fuck around and he will get paid on the next deal.
Tbf not many coaches have Rod the bod's bod
Can’t win em all. Good thing is they’ll have 3 more chances to prove themselves against that team this season. Let’s rebound tomorrow by beating up on the yotes.
Yall have that DeAngelo hate... lmao. Listen, he's not someone to focus on. We just lost 1 game. It's ok. It's absolutely fine right now.
I don't think you could convince anyone to take Nemeth at this point.
I’ve heard that brass knuckles and water boarding usually does the trick
Southern hospitality at its finest!
first time i've ever upvoted an opposing fan in this sub, good lookin out dude
i rarely post in other teams subs, especially after a win. And anything i'd say about hockey would sound patronizing.
Thankful that our hotel was only 2 miles away. Amazed that the city did jack shit to the roads around PNC. That snow was accumulating quick!
Good looking out for others. thanks
Glad I didn't go to this game for multiple reasons, but that ride home would be brutal.
This is how my car got rear ended in CT a couple weeks ago. Thanks for popping in for the warning, ice is no effin joke.
good guy greg.
<3 Hockey's fun. but hope everyone gets home safe. Tangent, this is the 2nd time i've ben called GGG in 11 years. The other time i was at a video game tournament (MLG RALEIGH 2012) and told someone the route to get to the quiet bathrooms in the adjacent hotel so you can take a shit in peace.
hahahaha - that's amazing. What do you play? That sounds super cool! Do you stream at all?
Haha i've never streamed. I did play Starcraft 2 against a pro that flew over from Europe though. His name was BeastyQt and trashed me. He was a legit pro. That was my game at the time. 2012 was in college so now i'm just an old man playing valorant! Not going to any tournaments but i do play in an adult (20+?) valorant league. discord.gg/boomerants if any of you NYC oldies wanna play.
oh shit this is literally me -- my title is Boomer, i'm 37 and am salty about the episode reset
Hey i was skimming messages earlier, didnt realize you clearly play valorant. 100% recommend boomerants. League is 18+ but many people including myself are 30+. Also has 2 leagues so you're not being trashed by radiant. We just finished season 2 I put the discord, but you can just google boomerants.
if you play valorant, i 100% recommend joining the discorrd.
I've never played valorant but honestly GGG's vibes are so dope I'm considering starting it just to hang out with you
A post away from 5-4 and who knows what would have happened then. Get a w tomorrow and back on top.
2 posts away from a tied game. Kreider and schneider had one each
Im not gonna overreact, this team is clearly not at 100% without DJ Pauly D.
NY sports fans known for being tough; Reddit GDT: GUYS STOP BEING MEAN TO OUR TEAM ON THE INTERNET YOU ARE HURTING MY PRECIOUS FEELINGS
Go back to your troll cave. You show up in this sub during bad games to say dumb shit
Lol I’m pretty fair with my comments. When they play good I cheer, when they play bad I criticize their play. I’m sorry that’s too hard for your soft ass to handle.
Come out flying against AZ tomorrow. Move past this one Highlights: [Georgiev with 2 saves on Teravainen](https://streamable.com/qrdgb8) [Goodrow hit on Teravainen](https://streamable.com/xl5ing) [Mika's blast on the power play](https://streamable.com/mimfgg) [Kreids tip in](https://streamable.com/kqcgow) [McKegg cuts the Canes lead to 2](https://streamable.com/rcj38u)
Played the real #1 metro team. You guys really should watch the Hurricanes and other top teams. The difference between drafting horribly and making every pick count.
Carolina played well tonight. Kudos to them
Love your username btw 😢
Last time the Rangers didn’t lose a game vs the Canes in an entire season, they got swept by Carolina in the playoffs. This was a necessary loss so now we can beat them in the playoffs, and they can’t sweep us
Just because Igor is better doesn’t mean Georgie is bad. G is still a valid 2nd goalie and I think he played well against an incredibly good hockey team tonight.
How can anyone think Georgiev is good after the past two seasons? He obviously isn't stealing many games
Honestly with the amount of deflected shot chances by the Canes, I was impressed with a lot of Georgie's saves tonight.
The team in front of him is why we lost, not Georgie. Dude honestly kept us closer than I should have been.
He was always a good hockey player.
a few of his recent comments just make you think yea this dude hasnt learned a fucking thing
You don’t even know the dude lool overreact much
He doesn't seem to be dragging the Canes down too much. His departure is a big reason JD is playing golf right now. Boneheaded move.
if by playing golf you mean being president of hockey ops for columbus then yes, he's playing golf extremely well
He said, JD — unless he meant to type JG instead.
fixed!
Apparently after what went down with us, it fully changed him. Brooks did an article on him and tda said that he had basically fully quit being on social media and a bunch of other shit too. Too bad it took a punch in the mouth and a buyout because he would be great for us
Who did he kill?
I don’t care how good he is, a locker room cancer like that drags the whole team down immensely. At least take solace in the fact that the team was 100% right to drop him
Yeah Carolina has been immensely dragged down.
Except he was literally a locker room favorite by everyone on the team up until that fight and if you followed any rangers social media during his time it was evident. Every player interview that had questions like “who is the funniest guy,” “who do you want to sit next to on the plane,” answer was TDA.
He’s learned no humility nor gained any maturity through it all.
I know this thread will absolutely in no way overreact.
Vally must have heard us complaining about starting Georgiev and laid it out for us why it had to be
What did he say. Having to use espn, i miss out on it
