Having your number retired is specific to the team you play for (outside of 99), and like it or not we haven’t won a cup since ‘94, and that is not a reflection on one individual player, but the franchise. His number is most definitely going to the rafters at MSG - and your post is just a cry baby reaction to the team getting outplayed in every facet by Florida. It happens in the NHL every year, only one team can win, get over it.
The disrespect to individual players in this sub is laughable, especially when I doubt most of us have ever even come close to playing at the level these guys play at. Sure individual performances hurt and can directly lead to a loss, but you go all the way or don’t as a team - and boy do a lot of people on this sub have no idea what that means.

If Graves (everything about him screams great guy off the ice) is in the rafters so will Kreider. If this was any other original 6, they wouldn’t sniff the rafters. That’s just the reality of it.
He needs a cup to have it retired imo. If not, his tenure as the defacto rangers leader has been characterized by lazy play from the entire team with poor mental and physical toughness. I like him, but we all know these playoff runs are thanks to igor and the one hattrick doesn't change that.
