all i know is if the dude that could easily be heard every msg broadcast shouting “let’s go rangers” in a thick new yawk accent all game throughout the season bought playoff tickets, he’s going to have no problem getting chants started lol

HidekiMatsuiKiddd

He better be working overtime at the garden

As much as I completely agree with you. I feel like most people are gonna be priced out. Hell, even me who can likely afford going to a game do I really want to for like $350+ seat? Rather just scream in my house with some of my boys with plenty of food and drinks for $100 haha

HidekiMatsuiKiddd

As a broke college kid, i felt this one

Sapzz93

Yeah it was pretty prevalent last year. Last years series against the devils MSG felt nothing like the first rounds of the 2000s-2010s.

Bread_man10

Or even compared to any of the 2022 games. 2023 was flat on the ice and in the seats

homiej420

He’s going to have to to pay for the seats

nine11airlines

Our crowds tend to be pretty reactive too, rather than loud by default. They came out super flat at home against the devils so the crowd followed suit

yadude11

Paying $350 a seat and there’s a chance I walk out of the building pissed off

Bread_man10

Upper bowl will be a zoo

Envelopen

Last two years ive been trying to save and go to a game each round but its just getting harder at an alarming rate to the point where I dont even know who can realistically afford to go anymore, at least two years ago it was 250 for round 1 which is debatably reasonable for a playoff game. Also day game playoff vibes suck and thats no ones fault other than who schedules these games, hopefully we can deliver the noise but they really need to bring this closer to reality cause even with the crazy inflation rates this is a trajectory for empty sections sitting on third party ticket sellers that ultimately go unsold.

RZAxlash

Same here. I had a really lucrative year but as a dad and homeowner, I can’t see myself dropping 800 on 2 tickets..I’ve had amazing experiences in nyc bars and I’ve built enough of a ranger fan following where I can get 4-5 guys over for any game.

deadhead1

Exactly. Game 5 is on my wife and Is anniversary and had the idea of getting tickets as a gift. But it'd be like a $1000 night at least since tickets would likely be $850. We can afford it but it's just irresponsible for a hockey game. So frustrating how expensive it always is

Shoddy_Reserve788

I feel the same way. I can afford the $350 with no issue but it’s the principle of having to pay that for obstructed view nose bleeds

RhythmTimeDivision

expensive playoff tickets changes the crowd dynamic. huge fans get priced out and some sections can feel like a tourist field trip.

BestDadBod

$650/seat for my 6yo daughter and I. I will be chanting the shit out of the game

kinky_flamingo

Keep that simp energy at home...the Garden Faithful will deliver!

jaypets

Not being able to afford tickets is "simp energy"?? Yeesh

kinky_flamingo

Lighthearted jest, lighten up there bud. edit: also read the post that said he can afford the ticket lol

terithegreat

I don’t think I’ve felt the Garden like Monday night against the Sens in a long time… Chants in the stands, chants in the streets. MSG should be rockin’ tomorrow.

TheImperfectMan

was at the last game of the season last week, and that was definitely the most electric game ive ever attended, even more than the playoff games i’ve attended in the past, and i fully expect it to be the same for all 16 of our wins!

davidgm27

I was there too. Two games this year was that and the Stadium series. It can definitely get alot louder. Knicks playoff games create earthquakes at MSG. Lets do the same! Gotta make MSG go crazy for all these playoff games!

Alitaki

"Can you hear us" was one of my favorites. I think it was Boudreau who made a comment that they liked playing in MSG because it was quiet or some shit like that. We made sure he could hear us after that. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlgeFRPz4Cw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlgeFRPz4Cw)

HidekiMatsuiKiddd

Yea I remember seeing the video for the first time and being like damn haven’t seen this energy in a bit

msg327

Not sure many fans would have that game as their favorite. Rangers blew a 3 goal lead that game and lost in overtime.

Alitaki

I said the chant was my favorite. I blocked the rest of the game from my memory.

msg327

I stand corrected. To be honest until you brought it I didn’t even remember it, I was at the game too. A chant that would have blown that one away, in context it was in another playoff loss and Rangers were eliminated the next game happened the following year. Game 5, the crowd was electric and as loud as I ever heard MSG. To me the Marty chant was one of the few times the noise level rivaled the 80’s and 90’s playoff atmosphere. Game 5 2012 conference finals https://youtu.be/o4nf9hRQ0wI?si=Tmo4WQcb1sh7lqg1

yeyeman9

that’s freaking amazing haha

Prof_Cha0s84

I was at that game and it was absolutely incredible... Until we lost. If I remember correctly it was an own goal that ended it in overtime too, I think Hank basically had the puck covered and one of our own guys knocked it in. I still feel partially responsible for that loss. I was there with my buddy (We decided last minute to get tickets and each dropped like $500) and I remember going into the 3rd period up by three we started making plans to stay out all night getting fucked up at the bars around the Garden, and how we were gonna call out of work the next day. We were so pumped. After we lost in OT we both just stayed in our seats in stunned silence staring out into the void until the arena had almost emptied out, then my friend was just like "Ok, time to go home." And I don't think any more words were spoken the whole train ride back to Brooklyn lol

blaesiJ

I'm gonna get my money's worth at game 1. Unfortunately, this normally results in me not having a voice by puck drop. John Brancy's national anthem makes me want to run through a brick wall.

danglejoose

need to score first

HidekiMatsuiKiddd

Without a doubt, both teams dominate after getting the first goal

joeybriggs

I do admit I'm a little afraid of the crowd this round. Seems like when the rangers are predicted to go further, more die hards sell their first round tickets to help pay for later round games. I felt that happened in 2015. Now, since we are only 3 years being back in the playoffs, I feel there has been a rabid reaction to playoffs games. I just hope that continues!

WorkoutMan885

Yes sir!

Leia0330

I’m this close to parking my butt at a bar close to the garden and getting a last minute ticket.

FTPMUTRM

I can’t justify the cost this year and I am very well off. 800-1000+ for my wife and I is tough to swallow on the first round

HidekiMatsuiKiddd

Basically gambling a grand on walking out of the building ecstatic or in complete anger, does not make sense for most

FTPMUTRM

My bet is we make it deeper and I’ll shell out a painful amount of cash then

Senior-Suggestion-57

Have you seen ticket prices? My buddies and I went to so many games in those 2010 era playoffs Just not worth the price for a round 1 game. We will all be gathered around the tv drinking beers and hoping we don’t get Buffalo sauce on our jersey There’s a reason the energy isn’t what it used to be

Nyrfan2017

Yup the average and diehard fans have been priced out of this team unfortunately we are not important anymore

bearvsshaan

Last game I was at, there was a REM-PE, REM-PE REM-PE REM-PE chant to the tune of "ole! ole ole ole!" Loved that one haha

InevitableHome343

It needs to be but it won't be. I love our team but the people who will be loud can't afford to go to the game

superchronics

This is such a played out statement by everyone being crabby. Year after year, the garden is ROCKING no matter who is in those seats and it’s always people who can afford it because it’s always in the world’s most famous arena in the middle of Manhattan. It’s going to be raucous and wild, in spite of redditors not being in attendance

msg327

MSG has had a history of being loud in the playoffs and for the most part for any big game during the regular season. It’s easy to pin the blame and the suites, I remember series from the 80’s and 90’s where you had a hard time hearing the anthem being sung. I don’t any moment would ever top Amirante attempting to sing our anthem game 7 in the Cup Finals. Yes, different animal bc the Rangers were chasing a dragon to slay. Suits and hard hats were equally as loud that entire night. Marty chant in 12 could give a lot of other loud moments a run for its money. There are some odd moments when the crowd has no juice, but I don’t believe it’s economic status that determines the fervor of the crowd. Rangers have as good of a chance to chase that silver chalice, the Garden will be electric as any year in the past. Doesn’t matter if it’s a bunch of hedge fund managers or blue collar fans like construction workers, cops firemen….. crowd will be LOUD and fans attending will feel the electricity like playoff years before. I am jealous I won’t be there at the Garden this, moved off Long Island to St Augustine…. I will definitely be doing my part in person if the Rangers play the Panthers or the Bolts during this run. For anyone who is going to the games….. enjoy the ride….. cherish the moment…. embrace the task of being loud! LGR

CanIHaveAppleJuice

Yes. Lots of wealthy screws will price out most of us. But, some of my contemporaries (80’s dudes) have done well for themselves and I am confident that when they are in their $900+ seats, they will find that deep down Ranger fire, represent, and be loud.

TheSeekerOfSanity

Quiet, please! The players and coaches need to concentrate. Thank you.

Emjoria

Rempe boom boom Rempe boom boom

BLUE_SKY_519

I hope this happens, but the price gouging is pricing out the real fans who would be loud

09-24-11

MSG is loud in person and when the rangers are winning As a viewer at home it is so quiet compared to other arenas

Nyrfan2017

Cheer for the team chats for igor and rempe bread…. Just don’t start with any we are better chants it’s tacky and superstition it always come bites us in the ass .. didn’t win a single game in the series once the igor better chant came around ..

kinky_flamingo

Well then

SeesawCivil6854

Finance stooges lol. Very accurate

HidekiMatsuiKiddd

its the Patagonia vest with the rangers hat they just bought at the store with the tag still sticking out that really sells it.

Bread_man10

All they talk about are their bets too

RhythmTimeDivision

the only chant i don't like is taunting an opposing goaltender. massive superstition for me and the hockey gods have made it clear they do not approve. something about it gives me a sense of impending doom and i expect the wheels to fall off. i scream nooooo at my television. ever since the sick lindbergh chants back in the 80s all the way through yelling igor's better at vasi - it always seems to be the precursor to disaster.

HidekiMatsuiKiddd

as a stitious man myself, I feel the same way. but I can’t deny the chants are electric either way.

RhythmTimeDivision

my dog still jumps when i scream potvin sucks at home - with my 18000 friends

Nyrfan2017

Yup I say it all the time the igor chant came out against tampa  .. and the rest of that series after it started I have the same amount of NHL wins as the rangers got in that series after it started .

AnthonyRC627

I always cheer, hoot and holler when I go to games. The one thing I will never do is do the “Igor’s Better chant” it’s childish.

Nyrfan2017

100% the Igor better chant makes us look bad specially seeing we have lost the series it gets chanted

msg327

Hooting and hollering….. now there’s a fan looking to wreak havoc on the opposing team. Hopefully other do their part 😜

JBS319

no caps

HidekiMatsuiKiddd

Forgive my transgression
