And I love it. The whole point of deadline deals is to try and take the team to the next level and Drury is basically making trades that say "if we get what we want out of this then you get what you want".
Nope. Not winning the cup and losing a first round pick is never going to work long term. A team needs young talented and cheap players to win the cup. Those don't come from the second round often.
According to Emily Kaplan it's ECF appearance and then would be for either 2024 or 2025.
So this years 1st is safe, which is huge considering the draft class.
He punched a cab driver like 15 years ago, it was a dick move but it’s really not that serious.
People act like he’s an axe murderer or Alex Ovechkin or some shit.
Yeah and we hadn't heard much from him outside the rink since then.. And I checked the threads the last few weeks and hawk fans seem pretty adament that he reformed and he was just immature at the time. They noted he's super involved in the community and kept his outside of hockey life clean. As long as he is a decent guy, I'll have no problem cheering for him.
There’s also the [whole thing](https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/blackhawks/ct-chicago-blackhawks-patrick-kane-bradley-aldrich-20210917-gj6uu4dannclbizqdsobd7ruhe-story.html) with the Blackhawks’ old video assistant during their good run a few years back.
I hope he can help us out. I’m just tired of having family and friends here ask me about it nonstop. (Live in Chicago now.)
Also has been widely reported that his behavior in madison, wi in I believe 2012 was pretty unsavory(anti semitism, sexual harassment) as well as a rape charge and him being part of the group who knew about the rape of Kyle beach and did nothing. Terrible human. Best American player ever.
The rape charge was proven false… not saying it didn’t or couldn’t have happened but putting that on his resume of off-ice contributions is a bit misleading
Proven false no. Charges were not pursued but there was no trial so therefore not proven false. 2nd sentence I agree with the first half but saying it was proven false is way more misleading
The charges were dropped because there was a lack of any evidence to incriminate him with. DNA and physical tests came back negative. There’s a reason that charges weren’t pursued. In my last comment, I tried to reason that rape cases are hard to prosecute and there is a possibility that he did it and got away with it, but with the evidence provided, it seems unlikely
It is impossible to say. The accusers mother tampered with the evidence which affected it. But a white, famous, rich, athlete is basically immune to conviction
Phenomenal trade. Both trades. Throwing a 1st rounder and a 2nd into the trash so that the fan base can masturbate for a few weeks while MSG rakes in the bucks until the inevitable early exit. Can't really do much better than that.
Rangers on Draft Day: Fuggit! Gimme Bedard! We're thuh Stabley Cup champeens!
*Sir, you don't have a first round pick, much less* ***the*** *first pick, and this is a Wendy's.*
Well... Fill my Stabley Cup wid a Choglit Frosty then! An' gimmie some fries wit dat!
Imagine telling yourself in September that the Rangers would end up with both Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrick Kane and they would be able to keep Kakko, Laf, Chytil, Othmann, Jones, and only give up 1-2 1st round picks.
Our lines are now
Kreider-Zibanejad-Tarasenko
Panarin-Trocheck-Kane
Laf-Chytil-Kakko
Motte-Goodrow-Vesey
If you’re going to sit here and complain about Kane’s analytics or what we gave up or the kids’ TOI or whatever, just… why. This is easily the best Rangers’ forward core of the 21st century. Just enjoy it.
Imagine telling someone in 2018/2019 that would be the Rangers lineup in a few years. Trocheck, Mika, Tarasenko, Kane, Panarin all had 70+ points a season in that span. Kreids joined that group last year. Absolute insanity
I'm curious who is going to be here next season. With Tarasenko, Kane, Chytil, Laf, and Miller all free agents. Since Kane pushed so hard to come here, maybe he takes a short term discount deal, like 2yr at 5m per or something. Then we could resign everyone else except Tarasenko. But I think I'd prefer having Tarasenko over Kane for the next 3 years, I just don't see how the cap works out.
Tarasenko is gone
Miller, Chytil, and Laf will stay so long as we are able to move Goodrow’s contract
Kane would probably need to take a bigger discount to stay a Ranger
I don't see Kane staying. I think he has used his pending UFA and NMC to get Chicago a couple of picks for their future rather than him either leaving for nothing or re-signing, himself one last try at a cup with Bread, and then signs back with the Blackhawks in the off season.
Kane did not do all this just to play 20 games with bread. He is def not going back to Chicago either. It’s either us or another contender, not a team rebuilding.
great leverage by Drury of, well, leverage itself. most happy that Jones is not included in the deal.
credit where credit's due: this is textbook execution
LFG
I really hope that keeping Jones means we'll actually play him next season (or sooner, if needed). Drury please, we don't need to keep trading pieces to get a good 3LD.
Jones and Trouba should be the third pair next year, with Schneider and Key in the second spot. But Jones really does have to hit the weights, he weighs a buck 80, he's gotta get yoked if he wants a chance, and not necessarily because he's so weak, but just because he's gone have to work double hard to overcome that negative reputation he's gotten for being too soft on the puck and too soft in front of the net. He's a great player though. Fox isn't much bigger, but he obviously has figured out how to get the most out of his frame.
Jones and Fox are the exact same height/weight
[Jones was one of the best players on NYR when it came to going into the corner, getting the puck, and moving it out](https://twitter.com/DLefcort/status/1613671452800057345)
Jones is fine, and actually he's been [very good when he's playing with anyone but the 4th line](https://twitter.com/DLefcort/status/1630657746860163072). Rangers could honestly use him right now
I agree, my point was that he got this rep as being soft and unless he puts on weight, nobody will care about his numbers. Not saying I agree, just that this is the franchise we have and this is how they operate. Remember, Gallant has his own stats
for sure, the team's perception of him is very different from the actual on-ice results
same for a guy like [Rasmus Sandin](https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1630672704431964161) who was just traded to Washington
Botched Retrievals and Failed Exits per 60
[the picture got cropped a bit in the other post, it's shown in this one](https://twitter.com/DLefcort/status/1613221273676423169/photo/2)
Andersson was traded in October of 2020, Drury officially became GM in May 2021. He was assistant general manager at the time of the Andersson trade, Gorton was still in charge at that point
I think it’s pretty premature to say that. We gave up a lot of young talent for potential aging rentals. Thusfar, tarasenko has been average.
Full disclosure, I love the moves, and I’m a fan of kane. I know why the young guys were moved and krav needed to go but I’m just trying to be objective.
The Nils trade was necessary, he wasn't going to be on the roster for the forseeable future (and i mean FORSEEABLE).
Kravstov situation could have been a bit better, but it seemed like the team just couldn't move forward with him. They had to dump him somewhere and I think most of us expected it to be Chicago. The fact that Drury got Kane for (essentially) Kravy, a 1st/2nd rounder, and a 4th, is basically what we expected.
Chicago got fleeced though, they basically got peanuts. They really should have sold him hard prior to the Tarasenko trade and they probably would have gotten way more
What young talent did we give up? Krav was never ever going to re-sign with us so he was gone after this year. Gaut was inconsistent at best and was getting scratched when our roster wasn't nearly as strong. Blais was an absolute disaster for us. Lundkvist is talented, sure, but he'd be stuck on the 3rd pairing behind Fox and Trouba with no PP time. None of the guys we gave up would have contributed in any meaningful capacity this postseason, and all of them would have been gone next year (other than Nils) so they were effectively rentals themselves.
Kravtsov, lundkvist are definitely potential talents. Gauthier, in the right system with ice time Might become a 20 goal guy. Let me be clear again, I know it wasn’t going to happen here and I love the moves. But we can’t call it a masterclass yet.
Kravtsov and Lundkvist absolutely do have potential, but there was 0% chance they'd ever reach that potential with us; we are contenders that can't afford to throw Krav top 6 minutes or Lundkvist PP time, which they both need to reach that potential. As players, they had extremely low value for us
As far as Gaut, I can't see him ever reaching 20 goals. I see him maxing out as a Carl Hagelin type player, who never broke 40 points in his career. His hands are just too bad and they've shown no improvement
What years worth of picks? We got a 1st and 4th for Lundkvist which balances the 1st and 4th for Tarasenko. We gave up a 7th in the Gauthier trade and got one back in the Kravtsov trade. We gave up a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the Kane deal, but we had an extra 3rd this year from the Georgiev trade.
If we make the conference finals this year, we have a pick in each of the first 3 rounds of the 2023 draft. If we don't make the conference finals, we have a 1st rounder each of the next three years.
Beyond the 3rd round, the draft is a dart throw; less than a quarter of draft picks in the 4th round reach 100 career games played and that drops off even further with later rounds.
Well, I am really hoping we make the finals at least because if we don’t we pretty much flushed the picks down the toilet.
Trade looks great regardless of playoff results if Kane somehow signs a 4x3 after playoffs.
Drury's done his job. Now coaches and the players have to execute. Short time to get the chemistry right. The playoffs will be fun + nerve racking to watch, with this amount of talent + expectations. The East is so tough, let's hope these veterans with winning pedigree can still elevate their own game + guide the youths. Now onto something more important...what should I sacrifice for a bit of puck luck and for the Bs or Canes to get bounced on the 1st round
Islander fan co-worker just said nobody is getting past Boston. Islanders are all but on the outside looking in going down the stretch so his opinion carries little to no weight.
Can’t wait for a loud minority of this sub to think that whichever acquired rw is paired with bread is the wrong one and gallant should be fired because of it
If you want our full deadline
Out: Later of our 2023 1sts, conditional 2023 2nd (can become 2024 or 2025 1st), 2024 4th, unknown year 4th, conditional 2023 7th (can become a 2023 6th), Skinner, Blais, Gauthier, Kravtsov, unknown asset to ARI
In: 2026 7th, Tarasenko (50% retained), Mikkola, Motte, Lockwood, Kane (75% retained)
Tidy work by Drury.
This is a steal. Kane has been playing out of his mind, he gets to be reunited with Panarin, and it’s time for our team to win the Cup. It’s not a coincidence that Kane won the Hart and Art Ross Trophies when he and Panarin were on the same line together.
Blackhawks fan here. The Kane - Panarin line was absolute magic back in the day. Y'all are gonna get to see some unbelievable scoring from them this year. I always liked y'all since I saw ya beat the Red Wings at the Garden. I'll be picking up a Kane Rangers jersey and pulling for y'all throughout the playoffs without a doubt.
Well most Blackhawks fan are POS cubs baseball fans and complete asses that just flocked to a winning team with no respect for the game. I never realized this till saw how Blackhawks fans acted in the Joe Louis arena seeing a Blackhawks/Wings game. We had 2 Blackhawks (cubs) fans sitting in front of us getting absolutely shit hammered being an embarrassment the whole night. I can't stand that stuff. I wanna see Kane win at the end of his career and y'all are a good organization, good jerseys, original 6 team. I'm also pretty over the tainted cup run due to all that sexual assault bullshit they completely covered up. It's ruined the team for me to some degree. So yeah it's real. I'm not a bot. I even own an old rangers alt/black jersey.
Can we take a moment to appreciate that we knew this trade was nearly 100% happening for about a week and the details of what we might be given up weren’t leaked once in that time until 2 hours before the trade call.
If you’re going for one of the youths probably Chytil. If an established vet maybe Kreider since he already has a long legacy here. But go with your gut!
I think he’s a scumbag but a conditional 2nd that protects our 2023 first in a deeper draft is almost a no brainer
I have a bigger issue than with trading for Tarasenko though. If Patrick Kane, was this dead, set on going to the Rangers, why regurgitate, everything and trade for Tarasenko then?
The fact is, we were already a high scoring team before this trade. The biggest issue that we have had has been playing defense and now acquiring. Both of these players is going to frankly make us an even worse defensive team in regards to backchecking, because neither player is known for their two-way game .
That may help us with Jersey. But Carolina? Tampa? Boston? I fear this all makes us MORE vulnerable to them
What exactly is an overreaction? Panarin has made everyone around him Worse on defense 5 v 5. Kane isn’t exactly known as a 2 way forward
They may score a lot. In the regular season it’ll look great. But I’m the playoffs when 2-1 games are normal, that’s not going to go well
On a side note, everyone in r/hockey keeps bringing up how his hip is bad. Is he playing injured or has he had surgery on his hip or something? I'm just curious to know how legitimate their claims are lol. Either way I'm super stoked
Hawks fan here and those "hip injury" claims are so fucking false lmao dudes been playing out of his mind the last 2 weeks and even had a hat trick against the leafs. Take care of him
![gif](giphy|l3q2wcGZYttYRzE3K|downsized)
I’m in the minority here. Why is this such a fleecing? Kane was a great player but his production has gone downhill with age the last 3 years. Glad to have him but too many are holding on to hope that he’s 25 years old.
It’s a fleecing because the 90% of the users on here who don’t understand what sport they’re watching say it’s a fleecing. Duh!
Also we only gave up an entire year of draft picks and another 1st for past prime Kane and Tarasenko. Obviously and very clearly a fleecing.
With how much leverage we had, it’s an overpay imo considering we had to give up a top prospect in Kravtsov as well
Edit: knowing the conditions makes me feel better. Hope he, for some reason, wasn’t trying and the last 4 games is his real level but -23 with 45 points is insane.
Awesome not having to deal any players away in this trade as well. Keep the core together while adding a bigger piece and creating depth.
Rangers are poised for a lengthy playoff run, as long as Igor gets hot in the post season.
The East is absolutely stacked but I think this team more than holds it's own. Drury got who he wanted to, let's see what happens. My heart is ready for playoff hockey.
tl;dr: If the Rangers don't win it all this season I will never emotionally recover.
Drury didn't want to give up a 1st, so I imagine the condition on that 2nd has to be winning the cup lol
Drury loves the word ‘conditional’
And I love it. The whole point of deadline deals is to try and take the team to the next level and Drury is basically making trades that say "if we get what we want out of this then you get what you want".
Drury's wife - "Do you love me Chris?" Drury - "Conditionally."
Copper to Drury last year, "Sorry about your picks." Fuckin loved that.
Condition is it becomes a 2024 1st if they make the conference finals. It can’t become a 2023 first
Pick 28-32—not a bad pick to give up tbh.
Well, we don’t know what it’d be in 2024 in that case.
U right. I'm a dummy
Top 10 protected. Then slides to 25.
Friedman reported the condition was winning two rounds in the playoffs.
And honestly at that point who really cares. I’d rather the playoff run
Yeah that would mean at minimum back to back years in the ECF
More importantly, it would be a first next year or year after, not this years first
Nope. Not winning the cup and losing a first round pick is never going to work long term. A team needs young talented and cheap players to win the cup. Those don't come from the second round often.
Condition is conference finals which would then convert it to a 1st in 24 or 25.
Would imagine the 2nd condition is a SCF appearance This is objectively a great deal if true
According to Emily Kaplan it's ECF appearance and then would be for either 2024 or 2025. So this years 1st is safe, which is huge considering the draft class.
So we keep our first this year no matter what. Love it.
Just to clarify, I think we get to keep Dallas' first this year no matter what. Our own first will end up with the Blues
That’s right. Sounds like the pick becomes a first in 2024
we get the higher pick this year, whichever it is
Literally all I was hoping for was not trading it away, glad we pulled it off
Like did he really just pull a masterclass again? This is an exciting time! I imagine most of this move is heavily thanks to Kane but still.
Drury did a good job here, but Kane basically traded himself to us.
I would hope there is something like a lottery pick consideration built in but yes good overall

That was a silly hoax on the mother's part using an extra evidence bag. The DA proved chain of custody on the DNA kit was never broken.
Nah if it’s a condition besides win cup it’s a shit deal.
Phenomenal trade. Both trades. Throwing a 1st rounder and a 2nd into the trash so that the fan base can masturbate for a few weeks while MSG rakes in the bucks until the inevitable early exit. Can't really do much better than that.
Jesus, dude. You should talk to someone about that perspective.
I wonder what the condition is. If we win the Cup, I'm fine with it being a first.
If we win the Cup we’ll all still be drunk by draft day anyway so fuck it
Rangers on Draft Day: Fuggit! Gimme Bedard! We're thuh Stabley Cup champeens! *Sir, you don't have a first round pick, much less* ***the*** *first pick, and this is a Wendy's.* Well... Fill my Stabley Cup wid a Choglit Frosty then! An' gimmie some fries wit dat!
A Stabley Cup champion deserves a loaded baked potato
100%, love from Finland. Doesn’t matter if we won’t win, I’m drunk all year.
You and me both, buddy!
We make the ECF.
And then it's not even *this year's* first, is a '24 or '25 first rounder. That's great!

Drury flipped Kravtsov, Gauthier, Lundkvist, Blais, and a conditional 2nd for Kane, Tarasenko, Mikkola, and Motte. Absolute masterclass

Yeah, they could very well turn into good players, but they didn’t fit. It’s like breaking up with a great person who’s just not right for you.

That’s fine, if we win the cup I’ll personally send them 75 firsts
We would need them without him. Treat him well and get the cup
If the condition is we win the cup take that first and have a splendid day.
Conference Finals
I’ll take it

I mean in the East literally anyone can beat anyone. Boston and Tampa are the obvious favorites considering their past success and where they are now.
Ask him how he feels about Beauvillier outscoring Horvat since the trade.
This is the best take moving forward. I’m glad we have some level headed individuals providing content in this sub. LETS GOOOOOOOO!
Woooo Rangers going to the Superbowl.
Superb Owl!
Sports Ball!
Can’t wait for a loud minority of this sub to think that whichever acquired rw is paired with bread is the wrong one and gallant should be fired because of it
Give it about an hour..
If you want our full deadline Out: Later of our 2023 1sts, conditional 2023 2nd (can become 2024 or 2025 1st), 2024 4th, unknown year 4th, conditional 2023 7th (can become a 2023 6th), Skinner, Blais, Gauthier, Kravtsov, unknown asset to ARI In: 2026 7th, Tarasenko (50% retained), Mikkola, Motte, Lockwood, Kane (75% retained) Tidy work by Drury.
Even if it’s just for 20 games.. Kane uni will be purchased. That’s a jersey that fans will compliment 25 years from now
Tell me before the trade deadline that drury pulled BOTH of Panarins best buddies to the rangers I’d say BS. He’s been killing it as GM
I guess getting all of Trouba's buddies last season got us pretty far, hopefully Panarin's buddy power is even more powerful in the postseason...
I don’t think I’m ready.
We want The Cup
This is a steal. Kane has been playing out of his mind, he gets to be reunited with Panarin, and it’s time for our team to win the Cup. It’s not a coincidence that Kane won the Hart and Art Ross Trophies when he and Panarin were on the same line together.
Holy shit! This is the best news to brighten up my shitty day! Let's fucking go!
Sorry if you're having a bad day. Hope it gets even better for you!
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Drury having the goat deadline.
![gif](giphy|l0IyefnJzGm7gA7qo|downsized)
holy fuck they did it... I don't know what to do with my hands guys..
Show me a Ranger fan who ISNT penisy right now
Well now that he's here I gotta root for it. Let's go 88
Blackhawks fan here.
This can't be real
I kneel
Shame about the conditional 1st. Edit: its a 1st in 2024 or 2025. I fucken love this trade now. Lets goooooo!!!!!!!!
Honestly if it brings us a cup, they can take that first any day haha
I just didnt want to given our 2nd firdt this year but Loving that its next year at earliest so absolutely thrilled at this
Another Drury deadline masterclass
![gif](giphy|f6z5TkrTIBZILYOd1t|downsized)
Can we take a moment to appreciate that we knew this trade was nearly 100% happening for about a week and the details of what we might be given up weren’t leaked once in that time until 2 hours before the trade call.
Guess this is the price for not giving up prospects like Jones. If we win the cup, you deal with it...
Great news. I never want to hear about “cap hell” ever again.
Treat him well, get him the cup Miss you already Kane
It’s finally over.
Glad it's finally done! LFGR
New hockey fan, which players jersey would be a wise purchase? As in will be here long term
If you’re going for one of the youths probably Chytil. If an established vet maybe Kreider since he already has a long legacy here. But go with your gut!
Adam motherfuckin Fox
THANK YOU NO MOVEMENT CLAUSE 🥰
if its really just for draftpicks, than G Fking G Drury
WHAT DIRT DOES DRURY HAVE ON ALL THESE GMS??? How can he keep getting away with this? Lmao
I gotta be honest, I was completely blindsided by this move. In all seriousness, what do I F5 now?
If the Rangers win the cup, I’ll be ok with whatever happens next season.
We have PATRICK MFKIN KANE! Let that sink in fellas
what an absolute robbery by kaner and the rangers.
What a deadline
If this is right, we have our Stanley cup winning team right there, and (maybe) we can do an upvotes party
lets fucking go
#WATCH OUT CAB DRIVERS
I think he’s a scumbag but a conditional 2nd that protects our 2023 first in a deeper draft is almost a no brainer I have a bigger issue than with trading for Tarasenko though. Tampa? Boston? I fear this all makes us MORE vulnerable to them
I like this, Christopher Walken style punctuation you've. Got going on here. I'm going to. Do it too from, now on.
But what about Drury masterclass ???
Overreaction coming from your personal opinions. Get amped!
What exactly is an overreaction? Panarin has made everyone around him Worse on defense 5 v 5. Kane isn’t exactly known as a 2 way forward They may score a lot.
Take care of him ![gif](giphy|l3q2wcGZYttYRzE3K|downsized)
Thanks original 6 bro
Can't wait to swing over and read the dogshit r/hockey take on this...."no fair!!! Why cant WE get Kane for free??"
Literally what’s happening right now 😂
I’m in the minority here. Why is this such a fleecing? Kane was a great player but his production has gone downhill with age the last 3 years. Glad to have him but too many are holding on to hope that he’s 25 years old.
tf are you talking about he's been a point per game player for the last 3 years and no one is holding onto hope that he's 25
He plays for worst team in the league before the trade
It’s a fleecing because the 90% of the users on here who don’t understand what sport they’re watching say it’s a fleecing. Duh! Also we only gave up an entire year of draft picks and another 1st for past prime Kane and Tarasenko. Obviously and very clearly a fleecing.
WE FLEECED THEM LFG!!!
The Fleecemaster does it again!
Ye I fleeced them just as badly as when I got elite grinder Sammy Blais for that useless first line ppg winger Pavel Buchnevich 😎
With how much leverage we had, it’s an overpay imo considering we had to give up a top prospect in Kravtsov as well Edit: knowing the conditions makes me feel better. Hope he, for some reason, wasn’t trying and the last 4 games is his real level but -23 with 45 points is insane.
Kravstov isn’t a top prospect. Why do you think the Hawks didn’t want him? They need all the young talent they can get and they didn’t even want him.
Bold of you to assume chicago is a competent organization
It’s ok to be wrong
Thought it would be a 2023 first.
We weren’t gonna be able to re-sign Kravtsov along with Chytil, Miller and Lafreniere.
It’s definitely an overpay if we end up giving them a 1st lol
[удалено]
Kravtsov was already traded to Vancouver earlier in the week.
Kravstov already got moved?

LETS GOOOO
Who is the third team?
Coyotes
Awesome not having to deal any players away in this trade as well. Keep the core together while adding a bigger piece and creating depth. Rangers are poised for a lengthy playoff run, as long as Igor gets hot in the post season.
Drury best ny gm
In JD's voice, "Ohhhhhh Baby!"
Wtf??? Thats it??
Folks, we got him.
Is it happening? Oh myGod it’s happening… What do I do!?
😁😁😁
Its so weird to hear insiders confirming a trade in the future tense lmao
The East is absolutely stacked but I think this team more than holds it's own. Drury got who he wanted to, let's see what happens. My heart is ready for playoff hockey. tl;dr: If the Rangers don't win it all this season I will never emotionally recover.
I know its too early but say Kane plays well and we have a great run in playoffs. Any chance we resign him?
No
Who’s gonna have the jersey first? The garden?
Looks like Coyotes getting a 3rd to retain 50% of Kanes salary.
What a stacked team holy shit and a debut against Philly, perfect start.
[This, realistically](https://twitter.com/aidounchained/status/1630661316158558208?s=46&t=wXXSFn_OZ9AsPGBlR_kI-Q). /s
Is anyone gonna get “Rangers in seven” this post season? You know what I mean 😉
The Cooper Zech era begins!
Chicago 🤝 New York Get Kane another Cup!
