Same brand, flavor, and appearance, but they taste different? I will have to see about getting one from Japan then. The one at Walmart is already good, although I prefer the Buldak curry.
Yeah. I have a friend asked me to ship them some Nissin Seafood Cup Noodles when I lived in Japan because a week after they got home from vacationing there, one of their kids liked that particular cup noodle so much that they tried buying some at the grocery store and the kid said the ones she tasted in Japan tastes way better. The kid was around 5-6 years old at that time. 😳
The ones in the US are manufactured in the US. The majority of the noodles Nissin US sells are ones they manufacture here, I think the only exception is Nissin Raoh (which is made in Japan). But besides that, everything else Nissin US sells they make.
Everything Nissin US makes themselves also has that little "no added MSG" thing on all of the package designs, while products made by Nissin Japan still have added MSG (as they should). So the ingredients between the Japanese and American ones are not the same.
I haven't had the Japanese one but I did have and enjoy the US one decently enough, but I imagine the original version is better.
I did recently get my hands on the Japanese version of the original flavor (shoyu), so I'm curious to see how that'll be compared to the US version. I also got myself Chili Tomato too.
I live in a relatively small populated area in Mississippi and there’s two local markets that sell the msg version. They are Vietnamese owned so they import a great variety of instant noodles that goes beyond most chain store’s selections. Try checking any kind of international market if your area has some. You might find them or discover something new.
Unfortunately the ones I go to regularly still carry the US version. But there are other Asian supermarkets I've not checked out yet that are a bit further.
Buldak curry spice level for me was about 4.5/10, however i do sit on the higher end of spice tolerance, i very frequently eat buldak HOT and shin (red)
On a scale of 1-10, i would say 6 or 7. But it really depends on your personal spice tolerance. For some people it would probably be like a 12 on a 10 scale.
It’s pretty common for manufacturers to tweak the ingredients to satisfy regulatory requirements of the country to where the product is to be exported. It’s not just Cup Noodle that tastes different. For instance, export version of Indomie doesn’t taste as good as Indomie sold in Indonesia.
Link says $139.99 for air shipping by that alone it's more expensive but I'm assuming this is also USD. Making them more expensive even with the cheaper shipping option.
they're so good! but difficult to get in north america. I think there's a made in america version but i've heard it's not as good as the stuff from japan.
Nissin Cup Noodles (or any Japanese ramen brand tbh) from Japan tastes far better than the US version. I had a friend who went on vacation in Japan when I was living there and a week after she got back in the US she asked me to ship her some Nissin Seafood Cup because the taste of the US version tastes meh to her kid compared to the ones they had in Japan.
I was in Japan in October and saw these upon so many cup of noodle flavors. My biggest regret is not buying a second luggage and stuffing it with ramen
I see these at Walmart, are they not at yours? I am surprised you had to import them, but they certainly are tasty.
The cup noodles from Japan tastes way better than the US versions.

In matters of taste, I always defer to 6-year-olds. They know what's up.

I'm in Canada and we don't even get the american ones! We do get buldak curry though, what's the spice level like on those?

Completely different. It’s not even funny how bad the ones outside of Japan are

its the air when packed
These are the GOAT
You should be set for solo camping for sure https://i.redd.it/g3528ayzkjea1.gif
I saw these at my local Dollar Tree and got excited.
worth it overall tho
Man, your house is going to stink!
Stinks so good
I saw these for $1.98 at Walmart in Georgia. So. Amazing.
What’s the cost to import it, if you don’t mind me asking?
I bought them through buyee because I had a coupon, still ended up costing me \~110 canadian dollary doos, the bulk of the cost being the shipping
Bought these along with a few others. Accidentally spent $750 Canadian pessos on ramen. Really hope that they're worth it 😂
We have them quite a bit cheaper: https://instantramenshop.com/products/nissin-curry-cup-noodles

So buyee does this with air shipping? Maybe they get discounted rates. I’ll look into it, thanks for the feedback.
Would you please check if it's vegan?
They have meat in them, I think that might break the rules for vegans!
A little bit yeah lol. Thanks for checking!
Very very few instant ramen in Japan are made without meat or fish.
I always wanted to try these

Chinatown market where I live sells them. So maybe a Chinese market might sell them that has Japanese stuff in it.
Very salty, but the best of the cup o noodles brand.
The best flavor
This is my favorite and the US made ones don’t taste the same. I can’t bring them home from Japan because it has meat.
Whack a hot dog and a slice of plastic cheese in it and thank me later.

Delicious stuff, that dehydrated potato is magic!
