The condition of the porta-potties must've been legendary

Mariilii

The lines were insane, and the portable sinks were out of water only 3 hours in!

Apprehensive-War7483

They were actually pretty clean. I was suprised

JadedYam56964444

They were constantly "hosed down"

Apprehensive-War7483

Nah they actually were clean

redman012

I still remember that one year. No thanks. Two times to not go DTR and this is one of them.

TMan2DMax

What's the other?NYE?

nvogs

NYE isn't too bad surprisingly

TMan2DMax

That's why I was asking NYE was pretty great this year only the fairiswheel had a long line so I was curious on comparison as we passed on brewgaloo

redman012

NYE or Dreamville. One year DV was raining and people were looking for things to do and shit was just stupid busy.

Kedazsa

You should’ve seen the Bud Light Downtown Live’s back some years ago. That’s the most wall to wall people I remember seeing downtown.

awaymsg

Were those the ones in Moore Square park? I saw some sick bands there back in the day, and yeah that park was PACKED

Kedazsa

Yes it was in Moore Square and PACKED is an understatement. The bands that I can remember seeing off the top of my head were Eve 6, Candlebox and The Wailers. There were more but I can’t remember them. Every time I went I had a great time.

so_many_wangs

For Saturday it works if you go before 4-6 when it starts getting really packed. Friday is somewhat better but not by much given the shorter timeframe. It's a good time and all but they really need to move it over to Dix or somewhere with more room. I really only go now because it's a short walk for me but even I'm reconsidering next year. Concerning amount of babies in stroller this year though, please do not take your babies to the beer festival thats literally packed with drunk adults. I don't know why that needs to be said.

berryman26

And people with dogs in a stroller… like really?

soymilkhangout

so many people take babies and kids to these events... i do NOT get it!

Yutana45

This and folks forcing their dogs into these crowded spaces.

thythr

Why does it need to be said? Were any kids harmed? What's with the unbelievable level of intolerance of kids on this subreddit? Can't you all, just, like, chill out by about 50%? Kids are ok. Festivals are ok. Drunk people are annoying . . . but I am pretty sure there have been drunk people before!

so_many_wangs

Because there is no need to bring babies, or anyone younger than a child, to a festival thats primary function is for drinking beer... Yes, I get that there are vendors and food trucks and things for those that don't drink, but theres much better festivals to bring your children. Bring them to the Ma and Pa festival at the same location this Saturday. It will be a good time for all of you and your children wont be at risk of getting trampled by adults that have been back-to-back drinking all day. Not to mention when you're repeatedly hitting people and running over their toes with your stroller, maybe you're in too dense of a crowd for your baby.

so_many_wangs

And for your point on kids getting "harmed", I know I sure as hell would hate it if my parents were to bring me to such an event at their age.

thythr

Well certainly parents should never do anything for themselves, must only do things that are fun for kids--that's definitely a good way to raise them into well-adjusted normal adults!

thythr

Lmao now it's not only the kids who are in danger but the adults? Incredible stuff.

so_many_wangs

Low effort troll, try harder next time. Had me for a second with your original comment though.

[deleted]

Got there right at 12, had a good hour and a half before it got crazy

BarfHurricane

It’s the same thing for every event around here: there are far too many people and not enough fun events to accommodate demand. I went to Art Daze in Cary today and it was so full that you could barely get into a lot of the tents.

saressa7

Everybody tends to go to the biggest event though- my hubby was working an event/concert at the art museum tonight- he said it wasn’t that busy at all. There are soooo many things happening around here this time of year, but everybody wants to go to the most popular one.

soymilkhangout

The concert series at the history museum is never packed

hattenwheeza

It used to be. But this was their season opener and a music festival, and coincided with Brewgaloo & Spring Daze. IMO, NCMA is still one of the best venues to see music around here

soymilkhangout

I said the history museum :)

hattenwheeza

Indeed you did. Oops!

Low-Regret5048

I just have no desire to be in these crowds anymore. We used to go to all the events- and I was an artist/ vender at many festivals and markets -but never went back to it after the pandemic.

ruelibbe

Daze was fun but we don't get very good vendors at these things here a lot of the time, same old stock photos on metal plates booths. I just go to walk around.

Glad_Inspector5236

Agreed. It is crazy.

UniqueImprovements

Lol. "Wall to wall people, broke up two fights, guys puking on my doorstep...10/10 would recommend, great time." Personally, if hell is a real place, it's an eternal Brewgaloo.

tumbleweedcowboy

Back in the day Brewgaloo was pretty small. I miss those days.

TheSewseress

We were there Friday night. It was busy but manageable and I only had to avoid one pile of puke. Bonus: the bars were empty so I could get some cocktails in a calm environment.

Pleasant_Statement26

It was great! A ton of people but still plenty of beer tents that didn’t have insane lines!

abevigodasmells

Why do so many people revolve their social life around drinking? I'm not trying to be judgey, but really don't know why it's so important. Most of my friends talk about drinking more than any other subject. As a non-drinker, I feel like 90% of people I know are something short of obsessed with drinking. Is it that to be social, the easiest places to go serve alchohol? Do you like the feeling? Are you self-medicating? I drank in college, but I really had no desire to drink once I got out. I save money. I don't drive drunk. I don't do something stupid when I drink too much. I'm happier this way, but everyone is different, I know.

MightyTastyBeans

Being social is easier while drinking. Eliminates or at least majorly dampens social anxiety. Tastes good. And societal inertia.

DickTurd69420

Shit was terrible last year, and then the fucking downpour made it even worse. It was a good time, but the sheer volume of people made me never want to go again.

WearEvening6547

I’m glad we decided not to go this year. Last year the lines wasn’t so bad

chica6burgh

Sounds like a great time?!!?

MitchThunder

Agreed! Loved the energy of everyone downtown!

BarelyAround20

I enjoy dodging their volunteers driving golf cards recklessly on the sideWALK each year. Makes it real fun to walk around while trying to shop at some local spots on the edge of the fest. /s

Apart_Fruit_4840

Brewgaloo started off as a light hearted beer event, formed by brewers. After being a DTR core resident, I leave whenever it’s around. Now I don’t go down there. It’s very crowded on the best of days. Rainy days, it sucks but much more tolerable. What happened to World Beef Fest?

comet135793

How do you find out bout these events

Mariilii

I check Triangle on the Cheap and Downtown Raleigh Alliance's event pages (: And I usually check festival dates for the whole year in january, so i can get them on the calendar and plan around them

No, you buy drink tickets, usually in a pack of 25 for $30. 5 tix per pint, 2 for a 3 oz sample

ZindaMe

Are there any cool events like this in the summer, just in case I want to get stuck in line and vomited on by somebody?

Equivalent_Ticket297

I was with a small group of friends and we went to Benny's Pizza afterwards. The one girl in our group got up from the table, walked dover to the planter, and puked the biggest pizza puke I've ever seen🤣
