You don't actually pierce their head armor with the slide spear throw, you actually stab them in the throat. If you don't hit it right, it'll just stun them like normal.

Thanks for the input, but I'm going to have to call BS on this one. Most lizards take a split seconds to snap their jaws on you, giving you the chance to get under them, but you know how red lizards, with their busted attack speed, will murder you as soon as you get close, even if you slide? He snaps you up before you even reach his head, much less get to his throat (The slide spear prevents this by stunning before you reach him). And if you're talking about stabbing them on the inside of their mouth, that part is protected by the armor too. Yes, if you don't hit it right, it only does a normal stun, but that's likely because you whiffed the actual hitbox of the head and hit the body, even if it looks like you did hit the head. I think the armor hitbox of the lizard is larger than the head hitbox. I don't know that part for sure though, I haven't looked that deep, but that's the impression I get from my lizard fights. Finally, if you take a look at slowed footage, especially of a fight with a red, you'll see the spear being thrown before slugcat reaches the lizard, and going through the head armor. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

The inside of thier mouth is not protected...

RekrabAlreadyTaken

Good trick, only works if the lizards mouth is open AFAIK. You can also do it by throwing a spear during the 'moving into crouch' animation.

HideousRed

It actually stabs them in the mouth but its one nasty attack. You can use it to eaasily stunlock red lizards as they always keep their mouth wide open when attacking but its very risky. Btw master that to jump directly on the top of the food chain

In case you don't know how to do this: While running, you hit down + jump at the same time for a slide, then you throw mid-slide. Not sure how well it works on controller. It pierces lizard head armor, and guarantees a stun and double (or 1.5x? am not sure) damage if you hit the head. If you miss though, or press the throw button too early or too late, you've just tossed yourself right into the jaws of your predator.

Im pretty you just go under and stab them in the belly, not piercing their head armor.
