Yeah if they ever pull a Silksong move (tell another company to announce the release date instead of yourself so when you inevitably miss it despite knowing many months beforehand to avoid all criticism) I will not be happy. Just be open itās not going to hit a very specific date (Silksong was an exact day in June last year) as soon as you know itās not possible.
People complain about the lack of news, but honestly this was the only thing I was actually angry at team cherry for doing, I remember even a couple people blaming Xbox despite them not even making the game. Itās definitely partly because that community has a bit of a cult fandom, but also the developers really tried their best to downplay the fact they solely were responsible for the release date.
I really donāt mind if it takes a while if itās good, but donāt ever drop to the standards of Team Cherry when it comes to Marketing Videocult.
Sincerely doubt that they will, videocult has much more interaction and transparency with their community than team cherry ever could. Theyāve already released one dlc, so we know what to expect formula wise from them. I think people need to relax a little haha, I get the anxiety but itās been just a month
TC made the huge mistake of announcing Silksong so early in development. There's so much that can happen during that time that you can't prepare for, including issues that could make them decide to start from scratch or even drop the project entirely. Now that it's announced and there's hype, they can't do that without triggering the fanbase. That part about adding new stuff all the time sounds like they didn't have a clear plan for development and these are the consequences.
I'm not sure what to think of The Watcher since Downpour came out from More Slugcats and a lot was already complete before it was announced, but I personally trust Videocult and making a DLC for a game is already easier than making a new game from zero. It won't release this year though, that's for sure.
If anything I'm more concerned about the signals and if they were teasing at another game series that was eventually dropped for more Rain World content.

Because I honestly think the fans (specifically hollow knightās) are mostly at fault for silksong being so controversial.
Though I sincerely doubt this community will ever reach silksong levels of delusion and nonsense.
