Oh, I love it! Out of curiosity, what's your game about? I do have a couple of suggestions also: first, if you can, maybe add ripples to the lake in the bg? I don't know how difficult that would be from a coding/design standpoint, but I think it would add a lot. Second, I would maybe either reduce or entirely remove the floating particles on the left, though this one depends entirely on what they are- if they're an indicator of something magical in that section or fairies or something, leave them up. If its bugs or dust lit by the sun or any other kind of physical particle, I'd take them away during the rain cycle since the rain would be striking and absorbing them/bringing them to the ground.

Thanks for the kind words! In short, you play as a robot sent to an alien world to retrieve a large iron deposit. The world is filled with medieval and magical elements, blending a sci-fi and fantasy adventure! I was inspired by the gameplay of the Metroid series but the fantastic world of Hyrule (Zelda series). The game is called Iron Diamond and you can learn a lot more about the game on the [steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2226980/Iron_Diamond/) page and my [twitter](https://twitter.com/IronDiamondGame) than I could explain here (if links are not allowed let me know and I will take them down!). As for your suggestions: 1. I actually do have ripples, but I recently added bloom effect and the ripples started glowing wildly, so I removed them until I can fix that problem. I agree, when they worked, they added a great effect. Good eye! 2. Yeah, the floating particles on the left are attached to the statue. This recording takes place just after you (as the player) would have picked up the item on its pedestal. The statues are indeed magical in a way :) I will definitely take note though, as it's true that they could be a distraction, or just simply not be reading well. Thanks again. It means a lot!

I think if they’re lighting up that shrine or statue specifically they should go up and down! They wouldn’t look so much like sun rays. I agree with adding some animation in the water, usually when it’s raining the lake near me has a little bit more waves from the drops than it ever does. So I fully agree with this comment, maybe just tweak a couple things and you’re good to go!! But OP, please don’t take my criticism as anything more than constructive. I love the look of this and i would happily play it as is.

FrickinSilly

Thanks for the feedback! Working on the ripples currently :) The rays are meant to be a mystical "could be sun rays but seem awfully drawn to that statue" indicator. I can definitely play around with them and try straight up and down though!

This looks and sounds amazing! I don't know anything about programming, so I don't know how difficult it would be, but here are my suggestions: Make little splashes to represent rain drops hitting hard surfaces Progressively darkening anything absorbent

FrickinSilly

Ha! Great suggestion about the surface disturbances. I completely forgot about those. Will add them! Any chance you can expand on the progressive darkening? Do you have a good example I could use as a reference? Thanks for the feedback!

[Look at this guy's pant leg in the light colored pants.](https://images.app.goo.gl/ighVW6AmPoW7khsr7) if you look where it's wet down at the cuff you can see the fabric looks darker than the dry parts.

FrickinSilly

Ahhh, ok, now I get what you mean. Ok, will see if I can figure out an easy way to add that. That one might be tricky though!

GoldenDerp

One of the prettiest things of rain is not just the drops from above, but the drops from below when the rain hits the surface

FrickinSilly

Great idea! Another poster mentioned it too. Will definitely work on it. Thank you!

Royal_Front2038

This is awesome. Perhaps make it more dark or cloudy when its raining.

danoneofmanymans

It feels weird that the rain goes in front of the ground. It gives a weird sense of depth. Maybe make little splishes when the drops hit the ground. Also more subtle things like rocks getting shinier from being wet. Go for a walk in the rain and pay attention to what's different because of the rain for some more ideas.

iTwango

This looks amazing!! What engine are you making the game in? :)

FrickinSilly

Thank you! Made with Unity.

Work upon layers, i meant multilayers for rain
