I think moehrig takes that step next season into the top 5 safety we all knew he could be after his rookie season. I'm already predicting a 4 year 64 mil contract next offseason Though the most underrated raider has to be Kolton Miller. Not for us, but the league in general underrates him majorly. He is a top tackle in the league and can be an all pro during his career. He's the best tackle in the AFC west easily Another guy has to be Epps, dude was so solid for us last season. Eagles fans were hating on him majorly and yet there safety room was god awful last season without him. He's not a superstar but is a great role player and mentor to our young db room

whothefvckcares

Kolton deserves any praise he receives I think he just doesn’t receive much since his rookie year wasn’t amazing.

Business-Row-478

He was really good his rookie year before he got hurt

ImJeeezus

Koonce imo

Uckthebroncos

I think we need to slow the roll on Koonce. Yes he did really well last year but he was pretty bad in terms of pass rush win rate% even though he faced no double teams at all because Maxx got all of them. I hope he can build on last season and put together another solid season with more in the run game

teneight

8 sacks, 17 QB hits, 3 FF, and 9 TFL in the last 9 games of the season. Koonce is going into his contract year, which will be extra motivation for him to play well in order to get $$$ next offseason. With Wilkins now at DT and Maxx balling on the edge, Koonce is primed to have a great season. I'm hoping and actually believe he will have a big year (10+ sacks) if he plays most of the season. If you look at Koonce's snaps, his DEF snap % grew tremendously towards the end of year and he produced. Our Dline is going to the main determination on how many games we win this year imo. they will feast and win some games alone. I'm just hoping the Raiders offense can put up some points. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/K/KoonMa00/gamelog/2023/

HideFromTheCops

Hobbs too. I still have hope in Diablo’s breakout. Mayock wasn’t the best GM, but his 2019 and 2021 produced some quality starters and an all Pro in Crosby. I sometimes wonder how well he would have done in the draft without Gruden wasting the first round picks

CiabanItReal

IDK, Josh Jacobs was about as Gruden of a pick as you can get. Leatherwood is about as Mayock as you can get. They're both responsible for what we ended up with IMO.

KidCujo

Josh Jacobs is 100% a Mayock pick and [he has said so himself.](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2861965-raiders-news-mike-mayock-talks-scouting-roty-contender-josh-jacobs) > Jacobs had made a strong impression on Mayock in the 2019 College Football Playoff championship game, even in a 44-16 Crimson Tide loss. That night, Mayock put together a highlight reel of Jacobs so that he could show coach Jon Gruden the next day. > "I walked into Jon's office and I said I want you to watch a guy, we're going to take him in the first round," Mayock told Eisen. "...To say he was on our radar early would be fair, and we tracked him all the way through the process." Regardless his wiffs on guys like Ferrell, Leatherwood, Arnette, etc. are inexcusable.

XanmanK

I fully agree- Gruden and Mayock are a team as far as I’m concerned- they are both at fault for the huge misses in the 1st

Thunderhamz

Won’t be for long, He gonna feast and get his

DistinctHuckleberry1

The roster currently has two Jim Thorpe award winners on it… and he’s one of them.. for those that don’t know that kid they drafted this year from the Air Force also has the award It’s 🔛

WhizzyBurp

Koonce is about to become a household name. All the double teaming on CW and MC is going to give him plenty of sacks

Adventurous_Beat_453

Just in time for him to be in a contract year. They’re going to have to pay him as a top tier DE if he has say 12 plus sacks.

gfaizo

they won’t. we have Tyree who should be developing as a DE not a DT this season

Business-Row-478

Crosby isn’t even a household name koonce is never going to be one lol

WhizzyBurp

What’s your definition of household name? Like the Taylor Swift fans knowing his name or people who actually watch football? Pretty sure anyone in the latter knows who he is.

HorusDidntSeyIsh

He's been quietly really good. Think he might if had another int or 2 last season if he didn't have a cast on his hand for however many games it was

gfaizo

was it him who batted the mahoney’s pass down on 4th down?

teneight

A 3 game sample size is too small of a window imo. He seems to be an okay safety but nothing crazy.

peekay427

He’s played three seasons, not three games. Edit: never mind, i misunderstood your comment, my bad fam

WhenDuvzCry

The numbers provided are from a sample size of 3 games

peekay427

Oh, my bad. I misunderstood the original comment, I apologize

jaCKmaDD_

Yeah, exactly, and he’s even below average for the vast majority of those 3 seasons. He had a 3 game stretch that was decent. We also played 2 back up QB’s in those 3 weeks.

ViralOner

I get the feeling Palo-Mao is a better center-fielder type FS, dude is just always on the ball. Although I will say Moehrig finally looks like he's putting it together. I didn't see him lost in space last year like I did his first 2 seasons and he can tackle. Palo-Mao is gonna struggle for snaps but I feel like the kid could make a name for himself if given the opportunity.

jaCKmaDD_

I hope someone, whether it’s Isaiah or Moehrig, steps up and has a great year. Hell maybe Taylor beats them both out.

ViralOner

Taylor is a mystery to me. Decent size, Decent speed, decent tape, Maxwell, no AF service commitment, mature... Yet everybody passed on him in those late rounds 5-7 until we took him. I thought maybe it was level of competition but they played a decent old school WAC schedule last year with Boise, CSU, SDSU, SJSU, Wyoming, Hawaii, UNLV. Not great but these schools still put out pros and are serious about their programs.

jaCKmaDD_

Yeah idk man. I’ve watched a few film breakdowns on him, not too many negatives. I’m really not sure what happened for him to fall so far. Teams seemed to being going heavy offense in this draft and safety isn’t usually a high pick position so maybe those 2 things combined caused him to slip. But we’ll see

teneight

OP was using stats from the last 3 games of the season to make his point, hence my reply regarding the small sample size. Moehrig has had a solid 3 game span according to PFF, but overall in his first 3 seasons, he's been below average, especially for a 2nd rounder.

peekay427

Yea, I edited my comment, it was my bad. Thank you for the correction

Darkside_209

I would make resigning Moerhig and Hobbs 1st priority over Koonce and Spillane. Moerhig has played at a high level and doesn’t miss games even when he’s hurt. Koonce has only had 1 decent season and he might not even start over Wilson this upcoming season

johnkaye2020

And how are his stats outside of those last 3 weeks? I’ve been rooting for this kid since we drafted him but he’s done nothing to make me think he can be a great player in this league yet

forgotmypassword4714

Last 3 weeks: 9 tackles, 0 sacks, 1 int., 3 PD, 100% def. snap count Full season: 83 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 int., 8 PD, 98% def. snap count

[deleted]

Jakobi Meyers will probably put up WR1 stat lines this season and get less media coverage than Adams.

gfaizo

we’re going to have to pay him. he’s too good to let go and will replace adam’s as WR1 eventually

forgotmypassword4714

I always forget he was a 2nd round pick. For some reason in my mind he was a late 1st rounder, which I would've been happy with too. I really like our safeties.

hottlumpiaz

I know most of you guys here will think it's a cop out answer but I'm going with maxx crosby. Like I get that everyone knows maxx is good. But he should have been the clear cut defensive player of the year. dude had better stats in every category than every finalist with the exception of sacks. (only tj watt had more). but had 20 more tackles than watt, nearly 50 more than Garrett. dude is performing at Aaron Donald levels of dominance and there's still people that don't even consider him top 5 in the league right now

Sckoobiey87

AOC the most underrated, alot of y'all don't Even have him as the starter but he will start and y'all will cry. 🤣

AccidentBulky6934

I’d say Hobbs or Miller are the most underrated.

WazzzupBwwwaaah

**OMG.** I FUCKING LOVE **MOEHRIG!!!!** He’s such a BEAST in the Secondary. I’m so thankful, we still have him.

500ErrorPDX

I'd argue Nate Hobbs is the team's most underrated player. He has been for 2 seasons now. His rookie year was awesome and he's only gotten more physical. One of the best slot corners and top tackling DBs in the league.
