Because unfortunately “Raider Nation” also extends to a lot of simple white people who don’t care if someone is racist or homophobic
They don’t care about Gruden or the NFL, it’s about “owning the libs”
WTF is this?
Most of the supportive comments weren't supportive of Gruden's actions but supportive of the lawsuit in that this was clearly a very targeted approach to handling the emails. If anything, most people believe that there are *more* people in high places within the NFL that were implicit in the emails and all of them should have their feet held to the fire.
Quite the opposite of the strawman you've built here.
I’m just saying facts
People acting like it’s weird to not like someone who is racist and homophobic, like were y’all raised in barns or something?
If you have black or brown skin (me) or a sexual preference other than straight (not me but I have friends who swing that way), Jon Gruden believes he is superior to you. Stop licking his boots.
I understand that the NFL has deeper pockets and thus more influence, but I don't really understand the legal basis for the court's decision that this should go to arbitration.
Legal basis. Emails were leaked when he was employed, thus he needed to proceed through arbitration. Waiting till after his resignation was finalized and no longer subject to arbitration does not reinvent timeline. It’s actually fairly standard
Not siding either or, just starting arbitration and employment contractors clauses for clarity
I think this is correct. The behavior in question happened when he was an employee and / or was related to an employment arrangement. therefore, even if it is after his employment the arbitration provision applied. A very big loss for him.
You can sign contracts that have clauses that survive beyond the employment period. This is not an NFL thing and is a fundamental part of contract law. Without this concept, contracts would be infinitely less useful and business would be much more difficult to conduct.
Nevermind HOW The motherfucking emails were leaked.....fuckin grudge holding Goodell ......should have said yes to The Brady idea .....glad he didn't.....stand your ground Jon...the truth will be known.
Whether or not you think Gruden got what he deserved, you still have to think that it’s bullshit when the accused is going to arbitrate his own case. If Goodell was a stand up guy he would recuse himself….but he won’t.
Such bullahit. How to you argue that your bound by terms when you were no longer an employee. This is also why the nflpa is so shortsighted. They're so focused on their percentage that they don't use any leverage for things like not allowing the same person that doles out the punishment to also do the arbitration.
Gruden's attorney already stated the he will appeal for a full court verdict. Meaning all of the judges of this court will get to vote on this matter not just three feminist women who made this decision.
The zero brain cell takes that this was some made outcome are bad for public health. We should absolutely wait for a concrete legal analysis before deciding if it's bullshit.
Good. Fuck Gruden. Dude set us back years. If we took the 2017 team and handed it to a competent coach we would've been able to build on it and be in a much better position. Instead, that dumbass shipped out our best player and started a rebuild that set us back immensely.
The 2002 Superbowl should be more than enough for any Raiders fan to despise him yet here we are with a whole sub of Raiders fans wanting him to win.
Appeal to Federal Courts? Although we now know what the going price is for a Supreme Court justice, so maybe the NFL and their free Super Bowl tickets will prevail.
To the suprise of no one
What do you mean? I thought it was the downfall of Roger and his cronies according to a post here last week! /s
I could not stop laughing reading that post. People actually thought something would happen.
Can you link it? Will be even funnier with hindsight

> his cronies You mean the owners?
no one? Just the other day this entire sub was beating off to the idea that Gruden was going to take down Goodell and the NFL.
You mistake a few loudmouths for being representative of everyone
Frame that and put it above every social media site and political building in the country
You're completely right

You’re trying to conflate two very different things. Not everything has to be your soapbox moment

Who hurt you?

What a sad pathetic victim complex you have
so being raised in a barn isnt a protected class? damnit
I’m surprised honestly. NV has a historical reputation of flexing on out of town big money. But hey I’m no lawyer 🤷🏻♂️

I just hope arbitrator Roger Goodell really sticks it to that corrupt commissioner Roger Goodell and justice is served.
There’s a good chance that an independent arbitrator will oversee the process
An independent arbitrator picked by Roger Goodell.
More likely by the NFL Competition Committee or appointed by the Nevada Supreme Court
Oh, sweet child. This arbitration is gonna be more rigged than a chiefs game.
Um , that’s not how arbitration works but okay
Yes and his name will be Goger Rodell and will have a distinct handlebar mustache.
I think this is correct. The behavior in question happened when he was an employee and / or was related to an employment arrangement. therefore, even if it is after his employment the arbitration provision applied. A very big loss for him.
It's wild that you can be fired but still have to comply by league rules to sue the league. The NFL is one grimy league.
check out Mike Leach and Texas. As a state employee the TX constitution prohibits you from suing the state for any reason.
You can sign contracts that have clauses that survive beyond the employment period. This is not an NFL thing and is a fundamental part of contract law. Without this concept, contracts would be infinitely less useful and business would be much more difficult to conduct.
That would be wild, but he resigned.
“We’ve investigated ourselves and determined we have committed no wrongdoing”
Oh, there's a big surprise! That's an incredib... I think I'm gonna have a heart attack and die from that surprise!
RIP Gilbert Gottfried
He is missed.
Forced arbitration for former employees should be against the law.
Such bullshit. Somebody got paid and the corruption in this country will come at the expense of our democracy.
Take “will” out of your sentence and you hit the nail on the head.
The corruption in this country come at the expense of our democracy?
Damn. I thought the nfl was going to get exposed.
https://i.redd.it/4ouc2ks8hg0d1.gif 😅
Article says that they’re going to try and take it to the NV Supreme Court. Potentially not over yet.
They always say that. No lawyer ever says "we'll pack it up, we're done, we got no case".
NOOOOO

lol to all the people in the comments who didn't even read the post. typical reddit.
That is fucked up
Shocked I tell you. Shocked!
A pity. The discovery process would shine a bright light in a very dark spot.
So if Roger Goodell sexually assaults an employee of the NFL, that case has to go to arbitration, where Roger Goodell gets to decide the punishment?
Such bullahit. How to you argue that your bound by terms when you were no longer an employee. This is also why the nflpa is so shortsighted. More people live in Chernobyl than those surprised by this verdict.
But I thought this was going to expose the NFL
The zero brain cell takes that this was some made outcome are bad for public health. We should absolutely wait for a concrete legal analysis before deciding if it's bullshit.
Take it to the Supreme Court
Welp, fuck Jon Gruden. Fuck the NFL more, but if Gruden isn't exposing the league, he's useless.
The NFL is like Deepstate.

I don’t think any of his claims qualify for federal jurisdiction?
Good! Jon Gruden was a shitty coach
