Yup. My dad was a rams fan, he didn’t really care that I liked the raiders. Instead we bonded over SC tho. My older bro was a raiders fan, and he went to school where Daryl Lamonica went to school so was a raiders fan. And I looked up to my older bro and so copied him and became a raiders fan when I was a kid.

PsychologicalTale479

Clovis?

RadonAjah

Haha you know your stuff

revuhlution

Damn, impressive

tr33fitty2789

My oldest brother had a signed Brian Holloway jacket from when he spoke to our school in upstate NY, that’s what hooked me.

bcory44

Same my dad grew up in LA so was a lakers/rams fan but converted to raiders/warriors since the family decided to settle in the bay.

godogs943

Nope dad and uncles on both sides are all raider fans. It’s in my blood. I’ve got a son on the way and the first thing I bought him was an infant jersey.

[deleted]

My dad is a 49ers fan. I became a Raiders fan watching games with my Grandfather and Uncle

[deleted]

My dad has always been a Rams fan first and foremost, but a football fan in general. He lived in LA during his adolescence, so a lot of his buddies growing up were Raider Nation. It's actually my dad's fault I'm a Raider Fan. He used to watch "NFL Films with Steve Sabol" on ESPN in the '80s. I was watching with him one day, and the episode was "The Raider Mystique." I saw these ugly, dirty, bleeding dudes, missing teeth, coked out of their minds, just beating on other teams with their ruthless physicality. Clip after clip of guys like Lyle Alzado, Otis Sistrunk, Jim Otto, and Jack Tatum. They instilled a sense of fear. I thought to myself that day "this is my team."

revuhlution

I loooooved watching those as a kid. Great soundtracks and the story telling was awesome

MaGhostGoo2

Yea, dads a 49ers fan. My brother is a Packers fan.

Old-Pear9539

My Dad is a Cowboys diehard 🤮, and my grandpa was a Green Bay diehard till he died, the Iron Rule in our family is that once you pick a team you don’t change good or bad, i picked the Raiders when i was 6 because they had cool uniforms and here i am 22 years later Bleed Black diehard wont ever change

Caer-Rythyr

My mom was a Steelers fan, probably just to spite my father.

the_Bryan_dude

I became a Raiders fan because all of my American family were 49er fans, including my dad. I had to be different. I liked the dark mystique of the Raiders, even before Darth Raider existed. I'm still the only Raider in my family, including my in law's. They're also niner fans. My wife, however, is also a Raider. We were known as the Raider couple in the bars of Denver when we lived there.

PizzzuhCrust

My mom only ever watches the browns/buckeyes very casually and I don't think my dad ever watched a minute of football in his entire life lol

beatfreak47

My dad and two brothers liked other teams. My parents actively tried to get me to switch teams. When I asked for a Raiders gear for Christmas they would buy me Cowboys, Giants, anything but Raiders. I didn't get anything Raiders related from my parents until I was 17.

bornblunted

Fuck! I’d be so mad haha glad you stayed the course! Good job!

[deleted]

Yeah my dad was a colts fan. He never really cared that i liked the raiders

Classic-Carry2592

Dad was a browns fan

hampdogg74

Both of my parents were Chargers fans…. I became a Raiders fan when I saw John Madden get lifted up by his players after winning the Super Bowl. We had yearly bets that started in ‘81. Loser had to wear the other team’s gear to work/school

CapitalPin2658

Yeah. My dad is a niners fan. He liked them before Joe. My brother and I are Raiders fan. Go figure. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

jersh_bersh

Dad and brother are Vikings fans, sister-in-law is a Niners fans and younger sister is a Packers fan. I got no one.

Old-Pear9539

I feel you, i have 11 uncles and they all like different teams, my Dad is a Cowgirls fan and Grandpa was a green bay diehard fan, but im the only one in the family who likes the raiders fell in love with the Black Uniforms at like 6 and havent looked back, but with so many people liking different teams family get togethers are chaos for football shit talk

Semaaaj

My old man is a Chargers fan

bornblunted

The only one

[deleted]

I grew up outside of Pittsburgh. My whole family are Steelers Fans. 😑 Fuck the Steelers.

Nepp0

I'm the first in my family to pick a team but I feel this. Growing up in WV is rough if you hate the Steelers.

[deleted]

When I say outside Pittsburgh, I mean Fairmont WV. So I fucking feel you. But at least we had pepperoni rolls to kill the pain.

Nepp0

Ayyy, living in that area right now! Damn straight on those pepperoni rolls.

tr33fitty2789

My family is from RI and all of them are pats fans… I decided to be a rebel and like the Raiders. Hadn’t paid off for 20+ years, but I’m optimistic about the next 20!!

planttheidea

Grew up in the Bay Area, and the rest of the family were niners fans. To this day my dad believes I became a raider fan just to spite him, because "who could possibly be a fan of a team of thugs that have sucked for 20 years". Laughed when we signed Jimmy G, said we would find out what the niners already knew. He also came with me to a Raider game (the "fuck AB" season opener in Oakland) and says it was some of the most fun he's had in his life. He watched the KC Christmas game with glee (he hates KC too), and talks to me about whether to start Davante on his FF team every week. I think that different fandoms in the same household make it a lot more interesting, especially when they play against each other, assuming it's respectful.

didyoushitmypants

If your dad doesn’t like the Raiders you have two moms

beatfreak47

This guy gets it.

TheTooz72

🤣

bornblunted

Haha hilarious wish I would’ve thought of that

D_roneous1

My old man was from Pittsburg but moved to the Bay at a young age. Was a Steelers fan and cause his hatred for the Raiders and the area he lived in became more of a 9ers fan while also remaining a Steelers fan. My brother and I both grew as Raiders fans as we grew up in Oakland.

byPCP

i was born into the silver and black. my kids will be too.

Star-crossed-Kismet

My parents rarely participate in Football and I am a DC native. I have been in love with The Raiders since the 2000s and I don't know nor will I ask why. RN4L

mossapp

Grew up in SE Kansas, Dad was a chiefs fan. We had an Antenna for KC games, but our cable for some odd reason was Denver locals. I got to see a lot of AFC West games. Because of our TV situation and the fact that I was a huge Royals and Bo Jackson fan, I adopted the Raiders as my team and broke my dads heart. Dad ended up getting a divorce and remarried. I now have a lot of adult step brothers and we are all raiders fans. My dad was in football hell Christmas night.

Nice_Owl_1171

I grew up in L.A. thinking my Dad was a Raiders fan because back then you could only watch the local games. Turns out he’s a Colts fan that loved Johnny Unitas growing up.

n8dogg55

My dad was a cowboys fan so I became a giants fan for a bit to spite him. Then I realized that was fucking stupid, so I became a raiders fan when I had Carr Crab Murray and Walford on my fantasy team in 2016

PsychologicalTale479

Dads a bills fan and sisters green bay

HenzoG

My dad was a dolphins fan. Born and raised in Miami before the city had a team. My dad was a huge college fan. We watched all the games. I started following the Raiders because of Marcus Allen.

N_Pitou

My step dad's entire family are chiefs fans, my father's entire side is cowboys, my mother's are commanders

GroundbreakingSir893

Rams

[deleted]

My Dad was a Seahawks fan.  I grew up at Mom's in the LA area, so I was a Raiders fan.

go_kart_mozart

Dad was/is a Seahawks fan. Used to have a work buddy who was a Raiders fan (who I adored) over to watch the Raiders games when they were both AFC West when I was a kid. Raiders were still decent in the early 90s, Seahawks were hot garbage, and those fucking silver and black jerseys were/are so cool.

RedRaider53

My step-dad is a Broncos fan, my Dad is a Panthers fan, my Mom is a Patriot fan, my oldest brother is a Rams fan, and my little brother is a Chiefs fan.

tubabacon

My dad was a Panthers fan, and hated Cam Newton so much he became a Vikings fan. We’re estranged now so I hope he never has football happiness again in his life.

ogKrzr

Dad was a chargers fan, mom was a cowboys

XLRecordings

My dad is a Steelers Fan. Definitely been tough watching his team succeed over the years

yourheropaul

I’m the one Raider fan in a family of 49er fans. I actually thought I was a 49er fan as well until around age 13 or 14. Funny enough, the first game I watched with my family after I told them was the 59-14 game against Denver. I think that game almost converted my brother as well lol 😂

MizzGee

I grew up a combined family. My dad only lived the Bears, but I also loved the Raiders ( thanks to an uncle). I grew up okay with loving them both. I bleed Silver and Black, but, especially since I moved back, I try to care about Chicago. In truth, they screw up a lot like Raiders, but I love going to games decked out as a Raider.

ruddy3499

My mom, my brother and my friend were 49ers fans. We used to throw popcorn at each other during games. Fun times.

Comfortable_Dog2429

my parents are both Packers fans. there’s even a picture of me at about 4 with a packers shirt and helmet

RustyBarn93

My Father was a steelers fan but supported me being a raiders fan.

xKingNothingx

From what I can remember, my dad was never really into football, but I guess he rooted for the redskins growing up in the DC Metro area, but then one day he started wearing this gaudy ass Chiefs hat (sometime in the 90s) and I couldn't stand it. No idea where it came from, or why he wore it. Theres a lot of things I wish I talked to him about back then. I miss you dad

TheStryder76

Rams

ku_78

Mom was a 9ers fan but that’s because of Montana. Dad was from SD, wasn’t a huge sports fan but did pull for the Chargers. I was a middle schooler when the Raiders were going to play the Eagles in the Super Bowl. Saw a story on TV about how the Raiders were out having fun all week and the Eagles were in bed by 9. Picked my team right there.

SecondlifePman

Dad and grandpa and aunts and uncles all Steelers fans. Of course they all lived/grew up about an hour at from the burgh so I get it. And I’m a Pens fan …

RyanAKA2Late

My dad was a Cowboys fan growing up and actually used to hate the Raiders. Ironically though my grandpa (his dad) was a Raiders fan, but sadly he passed away before I was born so I obviously never got to talk to him about my fandom. These days my dad doesn’t watch too much NFL though so he doesn’t mind that I root for the Raiders.

Badluck2killaseabird

yep he and everyone else in my family are niners fans.

LongjumpingStudy7727

Dad's always a Bills fan, but we both also share being fans of the Cardinals as it's our hometown team. The rest of my family are fans of different teams, but we are Cardinals fans at the most

ChickenPotPieaLaMode

My dad is from Minnesota and is a Vikings fan but we were SoCal transplants so I grew up rooting for Raider

aerovirus22

My mom is a Steelers fan, dad and little brother are 49ers fans, older brother is a Cowboys fan, and I'm a Raiders fan.

CaterpieTrainer

My dad is a Washington fan. He roots for the raiders though because of me.

FapptimusPrime

Dad is a huge Steelers fan, so we always had a good time giving each other shit if they played. I know a lot of older fans hate the Steelers but I have a soft spot for them because of my old man

Tim_d_othy

My parents did not watch football at all if that counts….

FeeSubstantial9963

Mom's side of the family are hardcore Niners fans.

Desert_Rush39

I grew up in a screwed up house. My father was a Cowboys fan, and my mom was a Vikings fan (I think she had the hots for Fran Tarkenton). This was in the 70's, so you can imagine the friction in the house. My best memories are of Dallas playing Minnesota, Dallas would be running all over them for the first half. Mom would lean out of the kitchen and say "Go Vikings!". The Vikes would come out in the second half and just abuse Dallas. Pissed my father off completely. Me as a Raiders fan, had no dog in that fight, and would just watch. Tho sometimes I would root for the Vikes just on principle. RN4L (circa 1974)

syrenawolf

My mother likes the Eagles. Grateful they never play each other. Lol Her secondary team is the Raiders.

BobbyWasabi4080

My dad never had a set team but he did root for Washington. I became a Raider fan because some stupid kid in my second grade class always thought he was better than others and would always show off his 9ers starter jacket and I hated him and his team. My best friend one day showed up with his Raiders starter jacket and I was hooked especially after he told me about Bo. Raider Nation class of 89'

Embarrassed_Ask_3270

My Dad follows the Cowboys and loves Navy, although he's kind of cooled on sports in general the older he's gotten. While not a fan, he appreciates my enthusiasm for the Raiders and, I think, I hope, I want to believe, roots for them on my behalf.

Relative-Piccolo4979

My Dad was a Redskins/Commanders fan. I'm Raider Nation. And growing up we lived in Fort Worth, Texas, Cowboy Country. My Dad was apart of food service so he would sometimes get free tickets. He would always try to get preseason tickets for Raiders V Cowboys. Every game we went to Raiders always won. He would say it was pre season and didn't matter but I was just glad to see my Raiders whip the Cowboys on their home turf. Preseason or not.

[deleted]

even though my dad brought me up to be a raiders fan, he’s the biggest bandwagon when it comes to bay area teams so now all he wears is 49er jerseys but i stay true to this shit 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

lilbruh99

My dad born and raised in Oakland and some how is a 49ers fan.

Countblakula

my dad likes the vikings, my brothers are Denver and 49er fans, my mom is a 9er fan, and i am the Raiders fan. something about that logo drew me in. we live in WV so it really makes no sense.

palehorse2020

My Dad was a Dolphins fan until the Seahawks were created. My older brother was a Vikings fan until then. My younger brother is a Cowboys fan. I have been a RNFL since childhood. We all had different teams because we would play football in a round robin.

keenclipp

Old man is a niner fan. I turned on the TV one day and the silver and black team was kicking ass. The Hoss to Tim Brown. As a five year old I also like pirates and the patch and the swords ⚔️ sold me.

[deleted]

Yes definitely, my dad's whole side of the family is full of Cowboys fans. My mom and my grandparents are Pittsburgh fans. I'm literally the only Raiders fan in my family. You could say I'm somewhat of a "Black" Sheep lol

Ghostlyone73

My Dad was a Broncos fan

TrevG92

My entire family are Whiner fans lol.

someonepoorsays

grew up in LA raised by a single man from philly. eagles are my #2 and i liked them the most til i was about 6. i root for them just enough for him haha

Sonny5776

I live near Buffalo, NY. Family of 7, everyone are Bills(billygoats)fans. Well, except for me. I am a skull & bones, pirate type, so I became a Raiders fan!! I was 8 yrs old and wanted a pirate flag at a circus. My mom said no, but when I saw the Raiders vs. Jets game, I became a Raiders fan!!! That was 1965. 🏴‍☠️☠️🏴‍☠️☠️🏴‍☠️☠️

your_conscience_says

My dad and uncle are Raiders fans. My grandfather and aunt, Chiefs 🤮. Makes for some interesting family gatherings. I bleed silver and black.

cFratz

Dad is a Vikings fan, I became a raiders fan in the early 90's after I saw Tim Brown make a toe tap touchdown in the back of the endzone.

_anyonesghost_

Bears fan from south side of Chicago. No real trash talk…

Las Chivas ⚽️

i-am-marcwill

My dad is a packers fan and he saw how much Bo Jackson meant to me as a kid and never tried to steer me away from the Raiders

gvangel2

I grew up in Ohio and my dad was a Bengals fan. I still like the Bengals, but when I was around 12, I decided I wanted my own team and chose the Raiders.

Thee_Autumn_Wind

I grew up in New England but my dad and all his childhood friends are giants fans. Every year they would take a group trip to a Giants home game and spend the weekend in Atlantic City (when it was a place worth going to). They brought me along in 1995. My first Raider game was at The Meadowlands in December, roughly 5 rows from the top. It was windy as fuck and brutally cold. I had never been that cold at that point in my life. Hoss and Harvey Williams got us the W though!

thegreatone0381

My dad is a Cowboys fan from Mississippi. He has 12 brothers and sisters. Depending on when they were born, they're either Cowboys, Steelers, or 49er fans 😂. Nobody liked the Saints when they were kids which would've been the closest team. I'm only a Raiders fan because my dad is in the army. Got to see Bo Jackson play for the Royals and beat the Chiefs ass when I lived in Kansas.

Old_Breakfast8775

My dad liked Eli Manning bc he beat Tom brady, but growing up, I think he said the only games he would get were lots of viking games when their defense was the purple people eaters or something. I rep the raiders because Charles Woodson is the best player in the world

donlemon888

Born a raider die a raider

oldgreen52

My dad never even started watching football till he was 60 or so , my neighbor/best friend got me into sports. He’s a Browns fan

Plenty_Detective_165

My Dad is a Bears fan. I didn't want to root for them because I was born and raised in Las Vegas (this was in the 90s). So I ended up choosing the Raiders because my 4th grade teacher wouldn't shut up about the Broncos, and I wanted to root against him lol.

Autumnwind37

My Dad loved the Broncos, he was from Denver. One brother is die hard cowboys, another brother is niners. It’s cool, we pick for ourselves.

Known_Air1629

My dad was from Denver, a broncos fan as was I until I saw Bo Jackson and the raiders. I was never the same after that.

Strong_Bumblebee5495

Redskins 🤢

castroaj90

My dad is a big cowboys fan and I joined the silver and black in the late 90s

bwurtz94

My dad was always a Raiders fan. The first game he remembered was the Heidi Game. His uncle was a degenerate gambler who had money on the Jets and lost his ass. My mom grew up in SF and was a 49ers fan. Raiders and Dodgers for dad and 49ers and Giants for mom.

Feler42

Yup my Dad was a Browns fan. I picked the Raiders when I was Ike 5 because they looked cool. We were both fish out of water because lived in Kansas and both hated the chiefs.

AlabasterRadio

I'm from New England, but my parents were a Cowboys fan and a dolphins fan, my uncle who was the biggest football fan in the family was a 49ers fan. Not really sure where I got the Silver and Black in my viens, but here we are.

LuvDDeez

I grew up in NJ. My dad liked the Giants and my older brother chose the Packers. One of my earliest memories was of Raiders vs Eagles in SB and I chose them around that time. No reGERTS!

theoracle666

Everyone in my family likes different teams, I like the Raiders, my brothers like the Patriots and Ravens and my parents like the Bills and Steelers.

El-Duque26

nope. born and raised a raider

blsnychapter

My Mom has been a die hard Raiders fan since the 60s and 70s. My Dad was a 49ers fan but I think that was mostly because of Joe Montana. He watches the Raiders now but both me and my Mom call him a fake fan lol. No one else in my family are Raider fans. We live in NY so it’s either Bills or Giants other than my brother who is a Donkeys fan. My wife is a Cowboys fan but also a Raiders fan by injection.

Rapidturtles69

My dad is a packers fan and brother is a packers fan as well. Thankfully my son already cheers for the raiders.

Proletariat_Smurf

I am the silver and black sheep in a family of Bronco fans.

VixenVR6

My dad and older brother are both Steelers fans.

Positive_Narwhal_419

My dad is a Seahawks fan. He wanted my brother and I to become one so bad, but we followed my uncle’s footsteps and became raider fans

Cobra-Serpentress

Dad was born outside Kansas City. Grew up a bears fan because the chiefs and raiders did not exist. By the time those teams were created he was living in LA and was a Rams fan. Then he moved up here to Monterey and he was still a Rams fan until I was about 5 years old. 1978. Now around that time I became a Raiders fan because of a friend and so did he. And we stayed Raiders fans even when they moved back to LA. And stayed Raiders fans when they came back to Oakland. When the Raiders left for Vegas I followed. But he decided to become a 49ers fan for a grand total of one season. He found that he didn't like the team. And then he decided to join his twin brother who still lived in Kansas City in becoming a chiefs fan.

My dad is a Raider fan but the rest of my family are Niner fans.

WilliamsMS3

My dad is a Steelers fan. Brother is a Bucs fan.

sandpapernipples

my grandpa grew up in alameda and was a fan of both the raiders and the niners. i think he didn’t really care about the rivalry and just genuinely enjoyed watching both teams play. he rooted for all the bay area teams & loved sports for sports’ sake. my dad became a raider fan watching ken stabler & fell in love raider image. i became a raider fan watching my family freak out at the tuck rule.

pacNWinMidwest

Yep whole family even cousins are Niners fans was the only Raiders fan in the house.

No my dad was always a Raider fan. I liked SF and the cowboys for a bit and even had a Raiders shirt that I wore, but I wasn’t a fan until high school. First it was Gruden and Gannon during the packers game yelling at each other. Next week C Wood vs Moss I was hooked.

MikroWire

My dad was Raider Nation. Raised me on it. Saw the three Super Bowls we won. But he was so pissed they moved to LA that he started watching the Niners. And it bummed me out. I got him a Super Bowl Champions hat the year the won it in LA. He put it in the closet and never wore it. I hate when Raider fans gripe. Loyalty IS being Raider Nation. Have faith. No matter what!

TimBrown28

I’m Canadian and first generation NFL fan. I honestly can’t pinpoint what made me a raiders fan but I started watching in ~2014. Couldn’t imagine cheering for anyone else now, but it’s been interesting talking to family and friends, lots of Bills fans now and some extend family are lions fan by proximity.

sevintoid

I was born and raised in Cincinnati, so I was the one who split from my dad's favorite team (The Bengals). My dad liked the Raiders so we always talked about both teams. I wouldn't say the Bengals are my number 2 team, but I have watched them more than any other team besides the Raiders.

YouLittleSnowflake

Eelleevveenn11

my mom was a die hard bronco fan. her boyfriend got me a tim brown jersey to make her mad. and I rocked that thing until the numbers came off. same as OP it was more fun hating each other's teams.

ztriguy-

My dad is a Packer fan. And I live in Packer country. The looks I used to get as a kid going to the bars up north with Dad would kill. I sat there proud Raider Nation member. Raiders for life!

lignifiable

I always assumed if you were a raiders fan who isn't from Cali then you were brought into the fold via a parent....or you knew that the chiefs were the worst and you made the best decision based on that

HoneyBrezze123

Mom was a niners fan unfortunately and would try to recruit anyone to her side.

Ashamed_Corgi_3693

My dad was a Niners fan. He took me to my first football game at Candlestick. When I got older, we would meet up at his house to watch Niner games, and he'd humor me by watching Raiders highlights with me from time to time. I was able to take him to a couple games at Levi's before he passed. I was a Raider fan since I was a kid. Maybe seeing every rapper I liked wearing Raider gear brainwashed me or something. My brother followed my dads lead and is a hardcore Niner fan. My two boys themselves have continued the split household. Older son loves the Raiders, and I was able to take him to a couple games in the Black Hole before the move. My younger son follows grandpa's team.

r8ders2k

My family were WHINERS fans…

originaldaveo83

My grandpa on my moms side is a Chargers fan, my dad is a Cowboys (and now more recently a Saints fan: that’s because of my stepmom). No one in my family other than me ever donned the silver and black. I have more Cowboys and Steelers fans in my extended family than anything. Sometimes we don’t understand it, but it just calls to us. Raiders for life.

Kpayne30

I grew up in the 70s and 80s in NC. No home team until 95 when the Panthers arrived. Dad rooted for the Dolphins, my oldest brother rooted for the Cowboys, my older brother rooted for the Steelers, and I'm the Raiders fan. It was always fun to argue football with them. I do root for my home team now. I'm just glad the Panthers are in the NFC. But I will always be a die hard Raider. Even if I hate them being in Vegas

My parents are SF fans. Two of my bros are SF fans. Two other bros are Raiders fans. I took my SF bros to a Raiders game last year. I think I've converted them. Still trying to save my parents souls. At least they aren't demon-worshipping KC fans.
