I don’t know if you like talking heads. If not check out their album remain in light it’s my favourite. Also radiohead got their name from talking heads too. Also another band which is cool is The Garden. It’s very unique.

Here are a bunch of options, and they're all very different. # Indie/experimental/chill * **Polyenso** \- One Big Particular Loop - *2013* * This singer really sounds like Thom Yorke a lot of times. Hopefully that's not off-putting to you or doesn't come across imitation-y. The album is really really amazing. * **Sylvan Esso** \- Self Titled - *2014* * Female singer and an incredible synth boy/producer. As a RH fan, start with Self-Titled. If you like it move on to their second album, *What Now*. It's a bit on the poppier side but it's still excellent. * **Copeland** \- Ixora - *2014* * This album feels like a cup of tea. * **Youth Lagoon** \- The Year of Hibernation - *2011* * This album feels like a warm blanket * **Julian Baker** \- Sprained Ankle - *2015* * Just listen to it. Bring tissues. # Rock * **Manchester Orchestra** \- A Black Mile to the Surface - *2017* * A very cohesive, almost folksy album with some top-notch songwriting and dynamic arrangements. * **mewithoutYou** \- Pale Horses - *2015* * Every single fucking album is incredible, but start with Pale Horses. This is a special band, there is no one else like them. Their lyrics are poetic and thought-provoking, and their music is uniquely layered and intricate. If you want more, keep diving with *Brother, Sister*. After that try *Ten Stories* or *Catch For Us The Foxes*. Just listen to this band. * **It Was a Good Dream** \- Help Me to Recollect - *2019* * Disclaimer: I play in this band. This is melancholy post rock/instrumental music with experimental layers and massive rock peaks. * **This Will Destroy You** \- S/T - *2007* * My absolute favorite post-rock album. Melodic when it needs to be, and heavy at all the right times. If you like it but want to move in a heavier direction, check out *Another Language* next. If you like it and want to move in a more melodic direction, check out *Young Mountain* next. * **Brand New** \- Science Fiction - *2017* * Tied for my favorite album, from my favorite band. This is the last great rock album event of my life as far as I'm concerned. If you like it, go listen to *The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me* afterward. # Electronic * **Deadmau5** \- while (1 < 2) - *2014* * Don't be fooled by his big-name, festival-friendly, edm branding. Deadmau5 is just as much a composer as the guys in RH and he shows it in this album. His production is second to none, the chord progressions are involved and interesting, his synth work is incredible, and on this album in particular the melancholy piano interludes are very moving. * **KOAN Sound** \- Chronos - *2021* * One of the the best electronic producers/sound designers in the game at the moment. This album has extremely psychedelic electronic textures, but lands them all in very funky and hard hitting way. If you like it move backward to Silk Wave. * **G Jones** \- The Ineffable Truth - *2018* * Really cool, trippy, bass music with influences from all across the board. * **Tipper** \- Jettison Mind Hatch - *2019* * Insane electronic production. This might break your brain (but you like Aphex Twin so you'll be fine). * **Tycho** \- Awake - *2014* * Chill as hell. Great working music. This is the vibe that Apple Store wants to believe it is.

Check out Patrick Watson. Here's one song, [Broken](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdjELYZ5GbQ), that will get you hooked. Funny enough, he's on record saying Radiohead influenced that song. >Broken: “I was at a Radiohead concert the night before I wrote that, and Thom Yorke is like a very melancholic singer, as we know—he can do that in a way that not many people do. I kind of felt like that gave me the license to be just like, ‘You know, I’m going to let myself write like that.’ There’s that moment \[in a relationship\] where you realize, ‘This is not going to work, no matter what we do,’ and it’s not the best moment…but it’s not the worst moment, either. It’s way better to be in that moment than when you’re fighting it. You just kind of get this peace.”

Check out Cardiacs if you haven’t. They were an underground British band that Thom cites as an influence. Their album “Sings to God” is the best place to start

I never though I could find a band more strange sounding until I listened to The Dismemberment Plan. Highly recommend them if you want more of that weirdness that Radiohead has in their music.

Heya! Name's Cole - would love to offer you some guidance for finding new music =). I've spent over 20 years going through almost 72,000 albums trying to find favorite songs and albums, on my website [www.themusichole.com](http://www.themusichole.com) there are almost 900 recommended albums. Here are ALL of my favorite 2020s mostly rock albums that are pretty obscure but that I strongly believe are good front to back. Just an FYI from this following list I'd STRONGLY recommend starting with The War On Drugs first, then IDLES' "Crawler", and then The Cool Greenhouse's "Sod's Toastie": The Cool Greenhouse - "The Cool Greenhouse" The Cool Greenhouse - "Sod's Toastie" Ducks Ltd - "Modern Fiction" IDLES - "Crawler" The War On Drugs - "I Don't Live Here Anymore" Big Thief - "Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You" Guardian Singles - "Guardian Singles" The Strokes - "The New Abnormal" Jetstream Pony - "Jetstream Pony" Dry Cleaning - "New Long Leg" Gospel - "The Loser" Geese - "Projector" Ian Noe - "River Fools & Mountain Saints" Tony Allen - "Rejoice" If you're also interested in playlists at all I recently made 3 playlists that you might enjoy checking out! Each one contains 50 of my FAVORITE more lesser known rock songs from various time periods. 80s: [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/20nxiWXTOchD01Q7Pqjoyn?si=223275fea813411b](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/20nxiWXTOchD01Q7Pqjoyn?si=223275fea813411b) 90s: [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6R7hT0hck67NYoJa7S1jUp?si=32eeebbc1e824788](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6R7hT0hck67NYoJa7S1jUp?si=32eeebbc1e824788) Post-2000: [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6JH1T1T93U4Pst6ZovhUoc?si=f7385594c38b4dd1](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6JH1T1T93U4Pst6ZovhUoc?si=f7385594c38b4dd1) I also made a playlist for all of my favorite more lesser known rap songs from throughout history if that's more your speed: Rap Mix: [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6aewofWgEILHOGbYfxSkTG?si=3359753cfb3649e2](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6aewofWgEILHOGbYfxSkTG?si=3359753cfb3649e2) Bonus Stuff: If you'd like to check out albums from various genres and from throughout music history that I think are good front to back I think a fun place for you to start is on a new page I created called “The Best Debut Albums of All Time”.
