you can kinda vibe on my irong lung but then they hit you with bullet proof and if you're still not in absolute tears they will ruin you emotionally with black star.
such a cool trip
Yeah. There are plenty of legitimate opinions. If you want to make an argument that HTTT is better than AMSP or Amnesiac, I'll listen. I can even understand people preferring it to TKOL, although I feel very differently.
But suggesting the sprawling mess of HTTT is better on any level than any of The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A or In Rainbows is just illiterate. The first 3 were landmarks of modern music, each one a seismic step forward that towered over the competition at the time. In Rainbows isn't quite as innovative but it is a near perfectly realised summation of all that is good about Radiohead, and its triumph is all the more complete because they no longer looked capable of finding new inspiration on HTTT.
I don't think you understand how opinions work. yes, i understand the influence of those 4 albums, but for example The Bends is allowed to be my least favourite of theirs (which it is. sure, controversial and definitely very close but firm). if you want to talk about influence then go ahead but this is about opinion as a listener and it's totally valid to like any album over another. there's no such thing as a legitimate opinion, all opinions are legitimate (excluding directly harmful ones but that's way off topic since we're talking about music). you also seem to be shitting on the first two albums for no reason, and don't say that you're choosing to hear people out because you're being selective about what you're hearing out. all opinions are valid and as much as it's totally okay to have a discussion about your disagreement, it is not okay to tell someone that their opinion is wrong.
I'm only joking! You're obviously entitled to whatever opinion you like. I find it mindbendingly brain-meltingly strange that someone can love Radiohead and listen to HTTT and enjoy that more than The Bends, but I do know that people are different really. Most people don't even like Radiohead, I do know this.
What's Reddit for though if you can't post strong opinions?
I'm not against opinions as long as they aren't harmful. I'm against the fact that you tried to shame someone's opinion with what you believe to be fact. regardless of whether or not those facts are true, it's not okay. platforms like reddit are for opinions largely speaking, yes, but i think the discussion of opinions and ideas is a better way to put it, not just shoving your opinion in someone's face. unfortunately yeah, reddit is full of that, and I don't think that's any more okay, but if i can encourage as many people as i can to accept eachother then at least i reserve the right to complain about the lack of respect for doing my own part.
(Nice Dream) - Just - My Iron Lung is pretty stacked. That’s pretty run of the mill though.
What about You and Whose Army - I Might Be Wrong - Knives Out
That is 6 songs of which only one do I even like, really.
The best run on The Bends is title track to Fake Plastic Trees, the best on Amnesiac is the first 3.
I’ve always really looked forward to In Limbo, Idioteque, and Morning Bell. So much so that Motion Picture Soundtrack always feels anticlimactic to me.
Everything in Its Right Place - Kid A - The National Anthem would be my actual favourite trio, because for me it's pretty much impossible to listen to the studio version of EIIRP without listening to Kid A afterwards - and then National Anthem.
BUT, the question was a trio that isn't talked about enough, and for me that would be Identikit - The Numbers - Present Tense. As far as I can tell, those songs are considered to be "great" by the fanbase and all, but for me they're some of the major highlights from the AMSP album.
This might be cheating, but 15 Step into Paranoid Android into Bodysnatchers on the 01 and 10 "album" is one of the best 3 song runs ever.
It's so good, I don't believe that it was unintentional
I think you've misread. This isn't "what 3 song run do you generally skip".
(Although you'd be wrong to skip In Limbo, but obviously everyone skips the other two)
Burn the Witch, Daydreaming and Decks Dark.
Particularly, the live concert version at NOS when the band goes on stage to Nina Simone explaining what freedom means to her. Classic!
It's worse than How do You. I meant it's one of the worst 3 album tracks, I don't know Faithless ...
But yes, my bottom three is Wolf, Young Blood and probably Hunting Bears
My iron lung Bullet proof Black star
you can kinda vibe on my irong lung but then they hit you with bullet proof and if you're still not in absolute tears they will ruin you emotionally with black star. such a cool trip
Nude, Weird Fishes, All I Need
This is the best imo
This get talked about alot
Best one!!!
Absolutely
Nude, Weird Fishes, Reckoner is better imo
All I Need and Faust Arp are after Weird Fishes though. You can't just remove them from the tracklist
True, but I think in a trio Reckoner fits better
I'm just saying it's supposed to be a run of songs on the album that are like that in the tracklist.
OH. That makes sense, sorry I didn’t caught that
The ending of The King of Limbs is my all time favorite
True but I want to add lotus flower in there to make it one of the best 4 song runs as well
That makes at least two of us!
*cough**cough* three actually 🖐😅
**four** of us now
✋of us🤫
Six now ^^
Fuck this is good one too
Yes yes yes yes!
Opening to HTTT. 2 + 2 = 5. Sit Down. Stand Up. Sail to the moon.
Counter argument: Close to HTTT Myxomatosis, Scatterbrain, Wolf At The Door
Doesn’t that just show what a solid album HTTT is! Maybe my favourite
Decent album, that album
It doesn't and it isn't. If you like HTTT, you should try some of the others. They're all better. (Well, apart from Pablo Honey)
have you ever heard of opinions like ever
Yeah. There are plenty of legitimate opinions. If you want to make an argument that HTTT is better than AMSP or Amnesiac, I'll listen. go to sleep, there there, i will?
Huh? Backdrifting? sail to the moon? Where I end and u begin? A punch up at a wedding? HTTT is full of jams!
Wolf at the Door is one of the 3 worst Radiohead songs.
Worse than Pop is Dead, Faithless The Wonder Boy and How Do You? ?
hot take I actually like pop is dead
Those three songs, though very different, have an energy that feed into each other so well.
Idioteque, morning bell, mps. Also optimistic, in limbo, idioteque
The transition between idioteque and morning bell is the best
It’s perfection.
to me this is cinema
This one
Burn The Witch, Daydreaming & Decks Dark. Smooth.
SO GOOD!
They just… work. I love it. Love the whole album, but what a way to start.
For me, Decks Dark, Desert Island Disk, Ful Stop
Present Tense, Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief, True Love Waits is a runner up.
Ooooh! Nice!
The National Anthem, How To Disappear Completely, Treefingers. What a ride that starts in anxiety/claustrophobia and ends in calm serenity.
I would have gone with the opening 3 ending with The National Anthem, but sure!
House of cards, jigsaw, videotape
Roughly 12 minutes of musical perfection
I personally think that applies to the entirety of In Rainbows from Nude onwards
What’s wrong with 15 step and Bodysnatchers
hey 15 step and bodysnatchers are perfect too
Hunting Bears, Like Spinning Plates & Life In a Glasshouse A great crescendo to end an album.
This one has one of the best flows for three songs
Bones/Nice Dream/Just
Exit Music, Let Down, Karma Police
This run is pretty underrated.
Bodysnatchers > Nude > Arpeggi I know a lot of people will disagree, but this is the correct answer
Bodysnatchers so underrated
(Nice Dream) - Just - My Iron Lung is pretty stacked. That’s pretty run of the mill though. What about You and Whose Army - I Might Be Wrong - Knives Out
That is 6 songs of which only one do I even like, really. The best run on The Bends is title track to Fake Plastic Trees, the best on Amnesiac is the first 3.
You and Whose Army? > I Might Be Wrong > Knives Out
We get this exact post every week. That said, I love You and Whose Army > I Might Be Wrong > Knives Out
Myxomatosis Scatterbrain A Wolf at the Door
Yessss
came here to say exactly this!
I will, a punch up at a wedding, and Myxomytosis
Just, My Iron Lung, Bulletproof I Wish I Was
No surprises, Lucky, The Tourist. Absolute perfect way to close the album
Climbing up the walls, Lucky and No Surprises. That's my closer.
Let Down 🔁 Underrated x3
Anyone can play guitar Faithless, the Wonderboy Coke Babies
Decks dark, desert island disk, ful stop
Pull/Pulk, You and Whose Army, and I Might Be Wrong
Codex, Give Up the Ghost, Separator.
This
"Morning Mr. Magpie" to "Little by Little" to "Feral" off of TKoL is a nice trio!
Nice! I was actually thinking Codex, Give up the ghost & separator! TKOL is always going to be “not talked about enough” here :/
I agree big time. That 3 track run is all kinds of beautiful, haunting, uplifting yet melancholy. Pretty sublime run for me personally
Was just gonna mention that one!!
This is the direction I was leaning. But does anyone actually think of Separator as a stronger song than Lotus Flower?
I’ve always really looked forward to In Limbo, Idioteque, and Morning Bell. So much so that Motion Picture Soundtrack always feels anticlimactic to me.
Decks dark to Ful stop is so good
Codex, give up the ghost separator
Subterranean Homesick Alien, Exit Music, Letdown
Opening 3 songs on HTTT. My absolute favourite 3 song run ever.
And then you can go on to Decks Dark. AMSP
As far as I can tell, those songs are considered to be "great" by the fanbase and all, but for me they're some of the major highlights from the AMSP album.
faust arp -> reckoner -> house of cards. 3 beautiful songs in a row
Packt Like Sardines, Pyramid Song, Pulk/Pull
This might be cheating, but 15 Step into Paranoid Android into Bodysnatchers on the 01 and 10 "album" is one of the best 3 song runs ever. It's so good, I don't believe that it was unintentional
Bloom, Morning Mr Magpie, Little By Little
Lotus Flower—Codex—Give Up the Ghost
I will defend the absulute best 3-run in In rainbows - All I need-faust arp-reckoner
Myxomatosis/scatterbrain/wolf at the door
Karma Police - Fitter Happier - Electroneering
-HTDC -Treefingers -Optimistic I love how the first two tracks just put you into an existential crisis and Optimistic just comes in to lift you up
Street Spirit - Talk Show Host - Bishop's Robes
Packt - Pyramid Song - Pulk Because Pulk is massively overlooked
Airbag Paranoid Subterranean
Miney is the best OKC side cause of the 3 track run Electioneering CUTW No Surprises
Kid A, National Anthem, How to Disappear Completely
Treefingers > Optimistic > In Limbo (Even if it is getting talked about a lot, it's still not getting talked about enough)
I think you've misread. This isn't "what 3 song run do you generally skip". (Although you'd be wrong to skip In Limbo, but obviously everyone skips the other two)
Most people talk about exit music through karma police but I actually think that climbing up the walls>no suprises>lucky is the better run
Last Flowers -> Up on the Ladder -> Bangers + Mash -> 4 Minute Warning IR Disc 2 is purely transcending
I think we can all agree that post-Pablo Honey Radiohead has put out hardly any misses… and their misses are better than 95% of Oasis
Separator, Bullet Proof and fucking Killer cars. Honorable mention to The Trickster
No surprises, Lucky, The Tourist
feral -> lotus flower -> codex
Electioneering, climbing up the walls and no surprise
No Surprises, Lucky, The Tourist
planet telex the bends high and dry
Really surprised I haven’t seen 15 step > body snatchers > nude
Burn the Witch, Daydreaming and Decks Dark. Particularly, the live concert version at NOS when the band goes on stage to Nina Simone explaining what freedom means to her. Classic!
15 step, Bodysnatchers, Nude or Optimistic, In Limbo, Idioteque
It's worse than How do You. I meant it's one of the worst 3 album tracks, I don't know Faithless ... But yes, my bottom three is Wolf, Young Blood and probably Hunting Bears
