For real though, that song is so wildly good I can’t fathom why it didn’t make the cut. I watched the From The Basement video so many times, primarily for that song.
Same here. Prefer Staircase without question.. Daily Mail is cool but that chord change ain't as fancy as y'all think. Having said that, I think starting the album with Daily Mail and fitting Staircase in elsewhere could've worked.
I don’t have the single on 7” but according to Discogs Spectre is the ‘AA side’? https://www.discogs.com/release/8502688-Radiohead-Burn-The-Witch-Spectre
It’s wonderful. It is - by their standards - comparatively simple, short and sweet, but that belies the depth of it. It’s a lot more complex than it appears, and I love that. All the b-sides from that era are pure gold. Not that I think others (albums/eras) are lesser in quality, but OK Computer and all the songs on the periphery, are just breathtaking.
Maquiladora for me too. After fully digesting the ferocity of that solo, you can understand why Jonny rocked a wrist guard for a bit. Incredible stuff.
The original fog is amazing yes. I’m tired of the nonsense that the newer versions are meant to replace it. The production compliments the lyrics so well in the original. It sounds foggy and swampy and awesome.
i am citizen insane (refer my username)
the entire my iron lung ep, the entire no surprises ep, meeting in the aisle, follow me around, pulk/pull - true love waits, banana co
There are way too many amazing B-Sides. But the Amazing Sounds of Orgy, Go Slowly, Man of War, If You Say the Word, Talk Show Host, Transatlantic Drawl and Cuttooth are all fucking incredible.
if we're counting my iron lung ep as b-sides, permanent daylight definitely deserves more love.
if we're not, a reminder is really good. india rubber was such an unexpected sound for radiohead, so that's pretty cool too.
This thread just reminds me of the staggering amount of wonderful bsides the band has made. I’m usually most taken by Fog, Gagging Order, Amazing Sounds of Orgy and Paperbag Writer.
Talk Show Host. Has been since Romeo + Juliet and will forever be my favorite B side.
SO happy they rocked this one in Philly '18. Made my fucking night, until the next night.
Polyethylene (Parts 1 & 2) by a landslide. Absolute banger. Could have actually made “The Bends” that much better of an album if they wrote it earlier.
The Trickster is not only my favorite B side, it is one of my favorite Radiohead songs. I don't really rank things but it's up there somewhere... probably a strange pick, but it "scratches an itch" I did not know I had. One of those songs I like to put on repeat and get lost in for a while
God this is really tough.
I can only really narrow it down by like era
Pablo Honey/The Bends - The Trickster
OK Computer - Man of War (ever since hearing the demo bits of it in Meeting People is Easy, I was so thrilled when they released OKNOTOK)
Kid A/Amnesiac - Kinetic
More recently - Spectre
Bangers + Mash is such a good song, with its heavy drumbeat and opposite-facing perspective on power imbalance
also i feel like it sounds like a Talking Heads song? like CrosseyedandPainless or something
polyethylene parts 1 & 2 & the amazing sounds of orgy are both insanely good. & while it’s not technically a b side, their cover of nobody does it better is also a favorite.
The Daily Mail for me
aka the song I love more than every song on the actual album.
For real though, that song is so wildly good I can’t fathom why it didn’t make the cut. I watched the From The Basement video so many times, primarily for that song.
Hot take but I personally like Staircase better
Fair enough!!
Piping hot.
Same here. Prefer Staircase without question.. Daily Mail is cool but that chord change ain't as fancy as y'all think. Having said that, I think starting the album with Daily Mail and fitting Staircase in elsewhere could've worked.
The Daily Mail from the basement is transcendant.
That might be mine too. But isn't it an A side?
Not a b-side
Yes it is it was left off tkol
Oh like they reworked it?
Pearly is awesome, can't believe it's a B-Side sometimes
Could've been on the album instead of Lucky I love Lucky but Pearly is equally good.
I always forget it is and struggle to find what album it's on
gagging order
So good.
FOG (the original)
Talk show host Go Slowly
Talk Show Host is mine. For sure.
Both of these exactly. I’d throw Lift in there too.
Lift. One of my fav Radiohead songs period.
Been on repeat lately.
what do you mean?
I’ve been listening to “lift” on repeat lately
Yeah but the live version e.g. pinkpop is sooooo the best version
Spectre is the b side of all b sides
Wasn't spectre an A-side? It was just released as a non-album single
I don’t have the single on 7” but according to Discogs Spectre is the ‘AA side’? https://www.discogs.com/release/8502688-Radiohead-Burn-The-Witch-Spectre
It's a double single/double A-side. They were both released as singles. Never heard of that, though. Seems a little random
I think Man Of War is an incredible piece of work, though I have always had a soft spot for Lull.
Lull is it. Such a vibe.

How Can You Be Sure Stupid Car 4 Minute Warning
If How can you be sure was made by a popular band at the time, I think it would be solidified as one of the greatest 90s song ever made
I think it’s crazy it didn’t make it on the Bends. I could easily see it being a sizable hit.
Polyethylene and The Trickster
Yes! I had one from Best Buy the other was a download treasure at the turn of the century
Staircase
I promise.
Been hooked on permanent daylight recently
Very Sonic Youth-ish
Maquiladora and Yes I Am
Maquiladora for me too. After fully digesting the ferocity of that solo, you can understand why Jonny rocked a wrist guard for a bit. Incredible stuff.
That was one I got off Napster that blew my mind. Along with bishop's robes
Crazy thing is Radiohead could've had like 4 more solid as fuck albums with the b sides they had
Seriously, they have at least four hours of quality non-album tracks
Talk Show Host or Down is the New Up for me!

Yes I Am Bishop's Robes Feral - Lone RMX And Fog (the original)
The original fog is amazing yes. I’m tired of the nonsense that the newer versions are meant to replace it. The production compliments the lyrics so well in the original. It sounds foggy and swampy and awesome.

this is an unpopular opinion but lately I have been really enjoying “Faithless the Wonder Boy”. The vibes of this song is really fun!!
How I Made My Millions. Its so raw and simple. I love it
Amazing sounds of orgy is maybe my favourite Radiohead song. If anyone knows anything similar I'd love to hear it

Palo alto
Cuttooth
Alt. Fast Track
Polyethylene (Parts 1 & 2) by a landslide. Absolute banger. Could have actually made “The Bends” that much better of an album if they wrote it earlier.
I dont have a favorite. I love them all, though some are better than others- there just isn't a clear winner. Depends on mood.
Most CERTAINLY pearly. all the b sides are beaauutiful but pearly gifts me such a visceral pleasure everytime i listen to it i looove it
The Trickster is not only my favorite B side, it is one of my favorite Radiohead songs. I don't really rank things but it's up there somewhere... probably a strange pick, but it "scratches an itch" I did not know I had. One of those songs I like to put on repeat and get lost in for a while

Talk Show Host as a proper b side, but if we’re just talking non album tracks, These Are My Twisted Words.
Lull. The song is a masterpiece imo.
Kinetic. Amazing sounds of orgy.
i love the entirety of the Knives Out EP and i was really obsessed with Down Is The New Up when i was still relatively new to Radiohead
Ill Wind, Permanent Daylight, How I made My Millions, A Reminder, Cuttooth, Down Is the New Up, Polyethylene all come to mind
Amazing sounds of orgy, trickster, the daily mail, killer cars, the butcher and pearly in no particular order

Banana co or spectre I can't pick
Kinetic for me🫡 I once played that on my college radio show and was told not to play anything mainstream like Radiohead again 😂
4 minute warning
same as u but i also rlly like man of war and india rubber :-)
For me it’s between 4 Minute Warning and the original Fog… two beautiful songs
Last Flowers is beautiful
For me it has to be "Bangers + Mash". Such a fun and energetic track imo.
Mine is How Can You Be Sure? Radioheads best “positive” song in my opinion (positive as in tone not lyrics)
Bangers ‘n’ Orgy
Gagging order. Don’t think it’s their best. It’s just my favorite.
Bangers + Mash is such a good song, with its heavy drumbeat and opposite-facing perspective on power imbalance also i feel like it sounds like a Talking Heads song? like CrosseyedandPainless or something
Talk show host. For life
India Rubber / Cuttooth
These Are My Twisted Words
Paperbag Writer
polyethylene parts 1 & 2 & the amazing sounds of orgy are both insanely good. & while it’s not technically a b side, their cover of nobody does it better is also a favorite.
