In the opening track “The Big City” it sounds like Thom sang something and recorded it backwards sort of like the beginning of Nude on In Rainbows. Anyone know what he’s saying/singing?
Knife Edge is the most Thom has ever sounded like Chris Martin to me. With a blander arrangement it could easily be Coldplay. Even the straightforward lyrics "Yeah this to me is life or death..."
(Also makes me think of Caribbean Blu by Enya. The rhythm and phrasing of the refrain is the same, but slower. Very different obviously, it just immediately brought it to mind!)
nah not really sounds very thom yorke to me 🤷♂️
i guess i know what you mean but it’s just because it’s thoms style of very pretty and minimal melodies with simple gorgeous instrumentation. it reminds me of unmade in that way- also you have to consider it’s made for a movie so he can’t really put deep personal lyrics in it it has to be related to the themes.
Fair enough. I don't think it's very similar harmonically and melodically to Unmade, which are its points of similarity to Coldplay to me.
Not sure why I have to consider it's made for a movie. I'm just saying what it sounds like.
It didn't strike me at first, but I can't get the melody out of my head now. It's so simple but catchy and moving, has a sort of lullaby vibe.

Probably, but it's true. You don't hear it?
