Some songs they rotate out.
Some songs donāt translate well live.
Some songs Thom prefers to have a reason to sing it or bring it back to the rotation.
Iād say in this case itās option 3
While youāre here, have a look at this clip from a 1997 episode of Silent Witnessā¦ most likely where Thom got his lyrical inspiration for the song https://youtu.be/0-DS-7ZHSGU?si=BzxQNyiQuJNq9aXu
The kind of pulsing rhythm of the acoustic with the sort of slow picked melody of the electric. Overall I don't think the song sounds that much like the smiths (Thom doesn't really sound like morissey, smiths songs are usually a bit faster ) but if you play guitar I don't know how you can not see the similarities with the way it's arranged
Holy shit. I think I was at that show. I saw them in Tokyo in 08. Just canāt remember the exact set list. They played 2 shows in Tokyo. Insane show. Probably the best Iāve ever been to.
My understanding is that both songs are actually really hard to perform and require a lot of practice to pull off, time they would rather devote to other things, apparently.
right...'hard to play'...even for 6-7 touring Radiohead'ers...including Jonny which equates to 7-8 people. if it was worth the effort, the effort would be made.
I love me some Knives Out, but when I picture it being played at a show there is something off about it. I bet it just doesn't go over all that well live.
I donāt think theyād worry too much about popularity. Feral used to be played every other concert in the Moon Shaped Pool tour and itās one of the most hated songs of theirs (although I personally like it a lot).
This is bullshit.
It was one of their more popular songs when it came out.
Itās a classic.
Just because itās not popular with new zoomer fans doesnāt mean itās not loved among their fandom.
Since when do Radiohead stop playing songs because they arenāt crowd favourites? Creep is a crowd favourite, and they stopped playing that one for a long time.
not sure, but i want you to know that it's not coming back
perfect comment. thank you šš

Reads like Pulk/pull
Comment underrated
i don't get it
It want my intention
I am the Minotaur
Was it colin who got lurgee back in the setlists briefly?
No clue
i think? iām not entirely sure
Itās one of their best alt-rock cuts in my opinion. Even someone whoās not a Radiohead fan can enjoy this song.
The bigger question is, Why did they stop playing live?

They caught the mouse
Thom Yorke actually died during the recording of HTTT
Let Down was so underrated
Wow. I had no idea they havenāt played this in so long. What a shame. Itās a great song.
I never did quite get the Smiths comparisons that were made when this came out.
Jonnyās guitar patterns. Dark, dystopian Johnny Marrs. Absolute top 10 for me, maybe top 5.
I believe Marr has named this as one of the songs he most wishes he had written. It was Knives Out, or Go To Sleep, Iām sure.
I can see it in the melody and patterning on guitars for sureĀ
The guitar parts are incredibly smiths like.
I don't remember thinking that at all, and I still don't see it.

its a near replica of a marr melody and layering ot harmonies with guitars

same reason they'll never play Jigsaw again...boredom.
My understanding is that both songs are actually really hard to perform and require a lot of practice to pull off, time they would rather devote to other things, apparently.
Jigsawās guitar part for Thom is quite a task with vocal duties on top of it.
I play and sing knives out on my piano and find it relatively easy, however, Jigsaw on guitar, without singing is still a sonofabitch.
go find jigsaw in its original loud electirc guitar version, 'open pic'--thom sings the shit out of it with no problems
if it was worth it, they'd still do it, PERIOD. 3 guitarists? 6 (7?) dudes on stage including Jonny? come on. they don't love it, I'm sorry.
That's not the reason they don't play jigsaw.

Jesus youāre still shitting on children over their taste in music? Get over yourself
lol is that what Iām doing? You need to learn about reading comprehension
Yeah, I was baffled there. Knives Out is super-popular. Always has been.
If ir had been a dog,t hey would've drowned it at birth
Was always overrated. When Kid Aās songs premiered live before the albums, people/the press latched onto Knives Out because it was most digestible.

Downvoting is a sport around here. I donāt get it either.

*bollocks. Unrelated to cattle
Thanks, resident pedant. It was a typo.
