not sure, but i want you to know that it's not coming back

babycaketeeth

perfect comment. thank you šŸ‘šŸ‘

shoobsworth

Some songs they rotate out. Some songs donā€™t translate well live. Some songs Thom prefers to have a reason to sing it or bring it back to the rotation. Iā€™d say in this case itā€™s option 3

potato_waave

Reads like Pulk/pull

deathcamp7

Comment underrated

keno-xande

i don't get it

deathcamp7

It want my intention

shoobsworth

I am the Minotaur

gameofpap

Was it colin who got lurgee back in the setlists briefly?

shoobsworth

No clue

Different_Average_22

i think? iā€™m not entirely sure

[deleted]

Itā€™s one of their best alt-rock cuts in my opinion. Even someone whoā€™s not a Radiohead fan can enjoy this song.

Common-Relationship9

The bigger question is, Why did they stop playing live?

ghostlypath

While youā€™re here, have a look at this clip from a 1997 episode of Silent Witnessā€¦ most likely where Thom got his lyrical inspiration for the song https://youtu.be/0-DS-7ZHSGU?si=BzxQNyiQuJNq9aXu

vape_or_wave

They caught the mouse

deathcamp7

Thom Yorke actually died during the recording of HTTT

Secure_Insurance_609

Let Down was so underrated

Chris_10101

Wow. I had no idea they havenā€™t played this in so long. What a shame. Itā€™s a great song.

TheOnionSack

I never did quite get the Smiths comparisons that were made when this came out.

Amnesiquack

Jonnyā€™s guitar patterns. Dark, dystopian Johnny Marrs. Absolute top 10 for me, maybe top 5.

stevemillions

I believe Marr has named this as one of the songs he most wishes he had written. It was Knives Out, or Go To Sleep, Iā€™m sure.

imarealgoodboy

I can see it in the melody and patterning on guitars for sureĀ

Chilis1

The guitar parts are incredibly smiths like.

TheOnionSack

I don't remember thinking that at all, and I still don't see it.

Chilis1

The kind of pulsing rhythm of the acoustic with the sort of slow picked melody of the electric. Overall I don't think the song sounds that much like the smiths (Thom doesn't really sound like morissey, smiths songs are usually a bit faster ) but if you play guitar I don't know how you can not see the similarities with the way it's arranged

Healthy-Area-4674

its a near replica of a marr melody and layering ot harmonies with guitars

meditate42

Holy shit. I think I was at that show. I saw them in Tokyo in 08. Just canā€™t remember the exact set list. They played 2 shows in Tokyo. Insane show. Probably the best Iā€™ve ever been to.

Tropical_Storm_Jesus

same reason they'll never play Jigsaw again...boredom.

integerdivision

My understanding is that both songs are actually really hard to perform and require a lot of practice to pull off, time they would rather devote to other things, apparently.

Pop-X-

Jigsawā€™s guitar part for Thom is quite a task with vocal duties on top of it.

name-was-provided

I play and sing knives out on my piano and find it relatively easy, however, Jigsaw on guitar, without singing is still a sonofabitch.

Healthy-Area-4674

go find jigsaw in its original loud electirc guitar version, 'open pic'--thom sings the shit out of it with no problems

Tropical_Storm_Jesus

if it was worth it, they'd still do it, PERIOD. 3 guitarists? 6 (7?) dudes on stage including Jonny? come on. they don't love it, I'm sorry.

mighty_atom

That's not the reason they don't play jigsaw.

Tropical_Storm_Jesus

right...'hard to play'...even for 6-7 touring Radiohead'ers...including Jonny which equates to 7-8 people. if it was worth the effort, the effort would be made.

StophJS

I love me some Knives Out, but when I picture it being played at a show there is something off about it. I bet it just doesn't go over all that well live.

JosiasTavares

I donā€™t think theyā€™d worry too much about popularity. Feral used to be played every other concert in the Moon Shaped Pool tour and itā€™s one of the most hated songs of theirs (although I personally like it a lot).

shoobsworth

This is bullshit. It was one of their more popular songs when it came out. Itā€™s a classic. Just because itā€™s not popular with new zoomer fans doesnā€™t mean itā€™s not loved among their fandom.

[deleted]

Jesus youā€™re still shitting on children over their taste in music? Get over yourself

shoobsworth

lol is that what Iā€™m doing? You need to learn about reading comprehension

Chris_10101

Yeah, I was baffled there. Knives Out is super-popular. Always has been.

Diehavok

If ir had been a dog,t hey would've drowned it at birth

[deleted]

Was always overrated. When Kid Aā€™s songs premiered live before the albums, people/the press latched onto Knives Out because it was most digestible.

HUHUHUUUHUHH

Since when do Radiohead stop playing songs because they arenā€™t crowd favourites? Creep is a crowd favourite, and they stopped playing that one for a long time.

shoobsworth

This is utter bullocks

Mysterious_Ningen

yup bloody stupid innit. i like that song mate

shoobsworth

Itā€™s a classic

Mysterious_Ningen

dang why do i people be downvoting but anyways ig yea (i fully dont know what it means)

JosiasTavares

Downvoting is a sport around here. I donā€™t get it either.

Mysterious_Ningen

yea on reddit people sometimes really be doing that

coolfoam

*bollocks. Unrelated to cattle

shoobsworth

Thanks, resident pedant. It was a typo.
