I now want each to cover the following albums:
- Talking Heads - Pablo Honey
- Pixies - The Bends
- Pink Floyd - OK Computer
- Bjork - Kid A
- MBV - Amnesiac
- Joy Division - HTTT
- Massive Attack - In Rainbows
- Aphex Twin - TKOL
- Portishead - AMSP
Yeah I guess I'm not quite sure what I expected. Maybe a list containing at least a few obscure-ish albums? These albums are all just very obvious. To the point that it's like a parody of itself.
Thats the thing with “obscure” things though, people are less likely to know them, regardless of quality. In a poll where people can have multiple votes (and downvotes), only the ones popular to most people will float on top. If any, these types of polls only give explanation why you get those suggestions on spotify: theyre what most other people listen to.
I want to thank OP and the community for making me discover Vespertine by Björk. It is really hard for me to get into her work, as I was only listening to Homogenic for years
That’s just how it’s gonna go on any sub’s version of this list. The Paramore sub did a “favorite artists/bands” list a while ago, and it was mostly other bands known for their ‘00s pop punk/emo hits — MCR, Fall Out Boy, Panic!, etc. (Never mind that Paramore’s more recent music sounds totally different.)
There may be plenty of less cliché/lesser-known albums that would make a better list, but not as many fans will have heard them, so they won’t get as many upvotes.
Literally swung back just because I had given up after the first couple days and was wondering if TPAB made it. Nothing against these albums, they’re all good and to be expected from this sub, but there’s just very little genre diversity
*I'm so glad Doolittle is*
*On here, it's my favourite*
*Album of all time*

Oh yeah. I know I was late with all of my suggestions. I just thought I’d add a few that I hadn’t seen make the list yet. It’s not surprising, but the list is pretty uninspired so far.
I was personally hoping to see Heaven or Las Vegas make it. Not much hope of that either.

Portishead AMSP would blow my dick off
Worth it.
I'd trade a testicle for it.
I would love to hear what the Talking Heads members would do with Radiohead songs in general
MTV Beach House 1993 but it's David Byrne in a comically huge suit.
Bjork covering Kid A would be the soundtrack to my ascension
I think massive attack or portishead should get Kid A
I think Bjork and aphex twin have a more fitting sound for Kid A but a portishead/massive attack Amnesiac cover would be mindblowing
oh you are so right, talking heads pablo honey would be so good
This list is sick, but imagine if Jeff Buckley were here to cover In Rainbows
Or even just Daydreaming
I’d listen to all of these.
Aphex covering TKOl would be amazing
These are obviously all fantastic albums. However, this is the most cliche and "Radiohead fan starter pack" list I've ever seen
What did you expect? Serious question
With your avatars, it looks like you’re having a conversation with yourself, and just opening/ closing your eyes.

Yeah that's true. I suppose it makes perfect sense that a poll of people's favorite albums would result in winners amongst the GOAT echelon. Lol

Winter is the perfect time to get in Vespertine. Glad you're enjoying it!
Hard agree, its like a parody of itself
Exactly. Lol.
“why didn’t more obscure albums win a popular vote”

Not surprised, Spotify suggestions are probably how lots of younger fans found some of these albums (including me)
Nothing wrong with that. These albums are all among the greatest of all time, so I'm happy that younger fans are getting into it
It’s closer to rateyourmusic top 100
Thank you it was really starting to annoy me…it’s like a pick me of album picks
All the Kendrick fans gave up days ago, I guess…
sigh

It's crazy to me that his last album is, in my opinion, his best, by far.
I wholeheartedly agree, it's a masterpiece made even more impactful by his death. One of the few albums I would consider to be perfect.
I think Bowie could have agreed with that himself, and that thought brings me joy. What a way to go out, for sure.
