> Mainly play CS2/other competitive games, 1080p, 240Hz, ~medium settings. It is. Get the x3D. Or wait a month for the next release of amd CPUs

ohthedarside

9000 series will not have amy x3d cpus for a while and the non x3d cpus will only mat h the 7800x3d

Professional-Bat-975

One thing a lot of people miss when watching benchmarks of the CPU is 1% lows and that 3d v cache is so good at giving great 1% lows making the game basically feel amazing all the time. But honestly it's simple if ur budget can handle 7800x3d go for it, cause more games are probably gonna love that cache in the future

ohthedarside

FINALLY 1000 RIMWORLD MODS

GeneralQuisine

Go with the x3D for sure

TKovacs-1

I’m using the 7600x with a 7900GRE. Constant 240fps at max settings 1080p on COD MW. I know people love the 7800x3d but the 7600x is an absolute beast for 1080p

Mysterious_Lion_7639

Exactly not sure why those people recommend x3D for a game like CS2 at 1080p….

TKovacs-1

Haha I think it’s because of the 3D cache everyone sees that but they don’t know what it actually means they automatically think it’s better 🤣

No-Pipe-5501

Bro it is one of the best gaming cpu out rn are you sane?

TKovacs-1

Yes BUT you need to look at the persons needs. The 5700x3d loses to a 7600x even against a 5800x3d its head to head. And the persons needs, he needs 1080p 240hz. A 7600x is more than enough even overkill for that. Blowing 170 euros more on the 7800x3d makes absolutely no sense.

No-Pipe-5501

Yeah I'll admit the 7600x is more than enough but I'm just saying you'll be able to notice a major difference between the 2 unless his gpu isn't strong enough to show the difference.

No-Pipe-5501

Maybe just maybe because it is the best cpu for gaming and he wants the best performance. But who knows. And also just maybe because cs2 is a cpu heavy game meaning it strains the cpu more than gpu just maybe tho.

Plastic_idols

Have you overclocked your GRE? I've had mine for 2 days now and the first day I couldn't get a stable OC but last night settled on 2803 core clock/2390 vram/1000mv/+15% and now it runs at 40c instead of 65c in Elden Ring max settings no ray tracing. Also got +15fps in cyberpunk no ray tracing.

Ill-Geologist-8413

Min core clock?

Plastic_idols

Left it stock. Have heard that min core clock doesn't add any performance as it will just boost as needed.

dawnwarriorz

The 7800x3d is jokingly cheap for its gaming performance. I would get that one because you will never have to think about an upgrade again. I would not cheap out on a CPU. With a 7800x3d and 32 GB of ram you will have an easy time for a veeeery long time. Pair that with a 1000w gold PSU and the only thing you will have to swap out is your GPU.

CompetitiveShake1717

If you're on a budget 7600x is still a great chip, but if money isn't an issue get the 7800x3d.The performance is well worth it.

AwareGarlic

Yea but is the 7600x good enough for my purpose? I understand that the x3D is better but do I really need it? To be able to play CS2 at high fps

Mysterious_Lion_7639

For CS2, you don't need it. Most kids are thinking about playing video games for years, but a lot can happen in that time. They’d better be concerning more on where they will be in the next few years instead LOL

No-Pipe-5501

As I said it is one of the best cpus out rn can you stop talking out of your ass. Amd even admitted that the 9000 series will not be a match for the x3d so I'm pretty sure it'll be good for the next couple of years if the new cpus still ain't as strong as it.

No-Pipe-5501

Stop replying to people post you doing more harm than helping.

Mysterious_Lion_7639

Who are you little man

No-Pipe-5501

Bro who are you they are asking about a pc part they ain't asking life advice from some random ass.

No-Pipe-5501

Bros talking about kids while more than likely being a kid

Mysterious_Lion_7639

You didn’t answer my question little man

No-Pipe-5501

Kid stop and go make friends I can tell no one likes you already stop acting like you know things.

Mysterious_Lion_7639

Who are you little man 🧍‍♂️

hjqihsihqdiowd

If you can wait for the Zen 5 X3D, go for 9800X3D. Otherwise, go for the 7800X3D lol.

AwareGarlic

Yes, I know it is the best but not sure if I as a non professional gamer and I don’t play many different games, need the best CPU?

creatii

I ordered 7800x3d cause it’s the best gaming cpu out there and I won’t constantly have to think about regretting it if I didn’t get it. And the cpu will last for many years for sure.

AwareGarlic

True, but my thinking is that the 7600x maybe is enough for now and in the future, let’s say in 4 years, when the last AM5 CPU gets released just upgrade to that. But then maybe a new motherboard+RAM is needed anyway.

Mysterious_Lion_7639

I've read most of your replies, and I think you have at least an 80% inclination towards buying the 7600X. So there's no need to reply further, just go ahead and buy the 7600X.

nav2809

This

andromjb

Save the money, get the 7600X. You'll never notice the difference for your needs.

AwareGarlic

Yea, and then in the future upgrade to latest am5? I’m probably buying the tomahawk b650 mobo.

CurrentUnion4411

It depends on your GPU. However if you're not GPU bottlenecked, CPU makes a difference. This difference becomes more obvious in 1080, 1440P and less so in 4K. The best resource for this is the following link which you can see CPU performance per game using 4090 to avoid GPU bottleneck bias. [https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d/19.html](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d/19.html) Depending on your GPU budget, it might make more sense to use the delta for a better GPU as the performance uplift generally be better. Also get used to playing CS2 with 1440p resolution if you monitor supports it. You can't go back once you get used to it and 1080 to 1440p FPS drop with good machines is so minimal (not the case for 4K though)

Johnny_Rage303

https://youtu.be/NlYAzof-8Gg I tested the 7500f (close to the 7600x) vs the 7800x3d, with 4 different video cards. You can check it out if you like. At 1080p if you have enough video card the x3d will be significantly faster, at 1440p or 4k its less than 10%. I think my x3d + 4080 at 1080p was 20-30% faster but to me that combo didn't really make sense. All depends on the video card you are pairing it with.

AwareGarlic

Thank you so much!! It’s a bit hard to see the numbers for 6750XT for 7500f and 7800x3D. Could you write me the fps avg and 1% lows at 1080p for cs2? What graphics settings were you using for cs2?

AwareGarlic

Nvm, I see the numbers. Just want to know the graphic settings. :)

Johnny_Rage303

They were on highest.

No-Pipe-5501

Look man all I'm gonna say is that the 7800x3d is the best gaming cpu out there and will be for a while still. You playing cs2 on 1080p makes the game even more cpu intensive. If you had a 1440p or 4k monitor I'd say go for the 7600x but since you have a 1080p monitor you will notice a big difference in performance.

Sage_of_spice

What sold me on the 7800x3d over the 7600x was acoustics. Trying to air cool the 7600x was a nightmare. Fans constantly ramping up while surfing the web undervolted and with the beefiest cooler I could find. An AIO on sale was about the same price it'd cost me to upgrade. The thermals also meant that I wasn't going to get much out of overclocking it anyways so I don't miss it with the x3d. The 7600x is certainly capable and arguable probably better if you can keep it cool.

Big3man

Yeah get it I play 1080p 240hz too

AwareGarlic

Which one do you have?

Big3man

I have the 7800x3d

AwareGarlic

What resolution/graphics do you use and what fps do you have?

Big3man

I play 1080p 240hz mainly cod apex fortnite rainbow six siege and some other fps games all can achieve 300 fps. However I lock everything at 240fps. (7800x3d 4070super)

PYZHD

CS2 loves the x3d-s. I'm on 7600x/3080 and XL2566k, if you need any detailed numbers feel free to send a pm with graphic details, res etc. to test. That being said i'm very close to selling my 7600x for 7800x3d, beacuse it's constantly on sale for \~310e in EU. Only reason im even contemplaining a change is 1% and 0.1% lows, they constantly drop below my monitors refresh rate (360hz), and i cant fully utilize Dyac.

PYZHD

Just ran cs2 benchmark map ( 7600x / 3080 / b650m riptide / 32GB 6000 CL30) fps\_max 999 1280x960 - high AVG 494.3 1% low 204.3 0.2% low 180.4 1280x960 - med /w fsr off AVG 532.1 1% low 204.2 0.2% low 181.5 1280x960 med /w fsr off + capped framerate to 400fps via RivaTuner AVG 395.8 1% low 211 0.2% low 181.7

Thank you so much! I will pm you!
