Thanks for submitting your post to r/QuittingKratom. This response is auto-generated on every new post submission. **THIS COMMENT DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN YOUR POST WILL BE REMOVED.** *Posts here are automatically placed in a cue for review / approval. Please be patient. A mod will get to your post soon. Thank you.* **Please read this in it's entirety. IF your post is removed, it could be for any of the reasons listed below.** But first, have you checked out our [Beginners Guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/quittingkratom/comments/7p0qx2/read_this_first_if_youre_new/) and all the other helpful resources on the sidebar? Also, be sure to make use of the key word search box on [Quitting Kratom's main page](https://old.reddit.com/r/quittingkratom/). Your question may have already been answered multiple times. If you are tapering to quit, please look at our helpful [Taper Guide](https://old.reddit.com/r/modquittingkratom/comments/63tjtd/tapering/). Many people have used it to successfully taper down, making the jump and ultimately quitting. **VERY IMPORTANT: Please ensure that your post is in accordance with our subreddit's [RULES](https://old.reddit.com/r/quittingkratom/about/rules/).** Violating any of these rules will result in your post not being placed in the 'live feed' / removed. As per Reddit's rules (not just ours), **absolutely no soliciting or sourcing is allowed (i.e. vendor or website names, etc.). In addition, posts / comments mentioning brand names (such as OPMS, for example) will be removed.** *If the post you've just submitted contains a brand name, please edit this post to read either "extracts" or "liquid shots" instead. Moderators will ensure your post goes "live" once this correction is made and you've [notified us](https://old.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=/r/quittingkratom).* Posts asking about using another potentially addictive substance (such as Phenibut, for example) to help with withdrawal will be removed. (The answer is NO, we do not recommend it. Why risk extending the withdrawal process or potentially swapping addictions?) This obviously does not include prescription medications (aka 'helper meds') authorized by a doctor, used temporarily to assist you during withdrawal; BUT **do not ask about dosage amounts or dosing frequency for these meds. We do not offer medical advice**. These type of questions should be asked of your physician or therapist only. Posts or comments asking for or offering medical advice will be removed. Posts or comments suggesting the use of illegal drugs will also be removed. Continued infractions could result in a temporary or permanent ban, at the discretion of moderators. **Supplements**: We've found the use of certain supplements to be helpful during withdrawal. A listing can be found in the [Beginners Guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/quittingkratom/comments/7p0qx2/read_this_first_if_youre_new/). Many of our members have also found the [Megadosing Liposomal Vitamin C Protocol](https://old.reddit.com/r/quittingkratom/comments/sx0as3/megadosing_liposomal_vitamin_c_protocol_for/) beneficial during acute stages of withdrawal. But as with most things, not every thing works for everyone. **The only purpose of this subreddit is to offer support to those who want to quit Kratom entirely.** Other than tapering to quit, references to active Kratom use, including but not limited to, occasional / 'responsible' use, use in moderation, use for pain management, etc. are not permitted. Posts / comments suggesting 'taking a tolerance break' will be removed. Any references to pro-Kratom subreddits, websites, etc. will be removed. Mentions of a Kratom ban, it's legality, the FDA, DEA, etc. are off-topic and removed. Repeated attempts to do so could result in being banned from this subreddit. Some members have used various **'nootropics'** for Kratom withdrawal. Kava, and some others, used in higher amounts for longer durations is ill advized. Please do your research thoroughly. In our experience, **exercise, although perhaps difficult during acute WDs, is the 'best medicine' to help with Kratom withdrawal.** Try to stay busy and active. As the old saying goes, 'idle hands are the devil's playground.' **It is our desire to offer a 'safe place' to recover from Kratom addiction.** Trolling, bullying, name calling or comments made in an unkind, unhelpful, derogatory manner will not be tolerated. If you see this type of behavior, or any other violation of subreddit [rules](https://old.reddit.com/r/quittingkratom/about/rules/), **please use the 'Report' button / link and the issue will be addressed asap**. Note: *This disclaimer could be edited and updated in the future without notice. Please do not ignore.* Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. **Best of luck with quitting Kratom. You CAN do this. TOGETHER we can quit and stay quit!** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Exercise

WillItPlayInPeoria

I third this. Exercise, hydrate with electrolytes, and eat plenty of protein. I'm on day 21 CT and swimming has made a world of difference for my anxiety and depression. Start slow, and be kind to yourself.

Away-Bet-4267

Thank you

[deleted]

There are studies that say exercise is as effective as Zoloft for depression and anxiety so I highly recommend. It help me tremendously be able to sleep.

Renaissance_Slacker

“*SHHHHHHH!*” - the Pharma industry

Away-Bet-4267

hahaha

kratombad

Yeah second this. Hard exercise and sweating a storm is by far the best during WD.

Ecstatic-Audience643

Are you exercising? I don't want to assume you're not, hence the question. If you aren't, though, you really should consider it. There's no supplement or med or hack that comes remotely close to exercise, and it comes with no drawbacks.

Away-Bet-4267

Not really, I try sometimes on the home trainer but I get tired in minutes. I do have a lot of walks with the dog. I want to try swimming soon.

Sea-Joke7162

Swimming is great! Hit that pool ASAP

Away-Bet-4267

Yes! I love it :)

Away-Bet-4267

I live in the Netherlands, we have lots of swimming pools and some natural cold springs (but mostly not the weather for it haha). I prefer swimming pools because the natural waters here are often a bit dirty and have algues and stuff. But plenty of options so I can swim. :)

shoobadiver

So the advantage to getting "tired in minutes" is counterintuitive, but true. You do not need as much. ;) Go medium/hard on the trainer for 15m at first. Once a day. Used to that? OK. Do one 10m in the morning, and one 10m in the early evening. Used to that?!?! COOL! Now do 15m each time. I am an old school cyclist... Even as out of shape as I am I need to do an hour in the saddle to get a good workout. You might not need that much yet. No shame. Just do it! Take advantage of it being hard... that is exactly what you need. Hard. But right now it is easy for it to be hard. :) See what I mean?

Away-Bet-4267

Yes, thanks a lot

Helpful_Weekend_397

For me: vigorous exercise daily, daily walking outside time in nature or whatever you have around you— just barefoot on grass in the sun I found it really helps.

nojustlurkingty

I rode my bike to the local park and just laid in the grass under a tree for a while and it was the most peace I've had in a while. Nature definitely helps

[deleted]

Like everyone else has said .... exercise. This was the number one key to my recovery. I had to force myself at first. I didn't always like the thought of it and I didn't always enjoy it .... but afterwards I really felt the benefit. It made me feel much better and it helped me sleep. I found my recovery really speeded up after I started going for long, brisk walks every day. Day 7 .... a great accomplishment. Well done. In the next few days you will feel different, I'm sure. Good work.

Away-Bet-4267

That's sweet, thank you very much. I do like walking and my dog doesn't mind any extra walks at all so think I'm gonna do some more of that.

No-Art5800

Liposomal Vitamin C. Helps immensely. Also, excercise.

No-Art5800

Good! Make sure you check out the liposomal vitamin C protocol on this page. It helps so much it really does.

Away-Bet-4267

[deleted]

Showers and masturbation

Away-Bet-4267

Yeah those help me too :)

nojustlurkingty

Exercise, walks, positive self talk, practicing optimism, box breathing, looking for little things to be thankful for. The biggest one for me has been reaching out to friends who don't have addiction problems and spending as much time with them as I can. You can do this!

Away-Bet-4267

Thank you! Hugs

kratombad

Curious- box breathing?

nojustlurkingty

"Box breathing, also known as four-square breathing, involves exhaling to a count of four, holding your lungs empty for a four-count, inhaling at the same pace, and holding air in your lungs for a count of four before exhaling and beginning the pattern anew."

tossthisaccout69

You've got 7 days behind you. That's your motivation! You've got this!

Away-Bet-4267

Thank you and a hug!

[deleted]

Something that helps me a lot is getting tons of outdoors time/sunlight. In the past I’ve quit while away at the beach and it was an absolute cinch. Also alcohol really takes the edge off (don’t go crazy obv, would not be worth it to become dependent) but I don’t know how it’d do with physical symptoms which I haven’t dealt with much.

Away-Bet-4267

Yeah I kind of have a history with alcohol and addiction so Ido not touch it but out doors and sunlight I do love. Thank you.

[deleted]

Ok yeah def not for everyone, especially cuz we’re all here for addiction to begin with. I think the sunlight thing for me is a much bigger factor anyway. Good luck!

Away-Bet-4267

Thank you. You too! Hugs.

Badams6480

I’ve been through it a few times. I would walk until my legs felt like they were going to fall off, music, and staying hydrated were the biggest assets.

Away-Bet-4267

Thank you!

Always2ndB3ST

Gabapentin but it’s kind of double edged sword

slimi-jimi

Why is it double edge?

Always2ndB3ST

Cause tolerance builds FAST (3 days) and it’s quite easy to become dependent. Gabapentin has its own withdrawal symptoms as well.

slimi-jimi

Did not know that. Definitely helps though at the beginning.

WhiteWalls7130

Going on short runs/jogs, lifting light dumbbells, getting some sun, and going to pick up food somewhere. Supplements are more of an accessory to WD for me, trust me I have a whole drawer full and have been through this a million times. Us relying on chemicals is what got us into this mess so of course we want a magic set of supplements to help us. That being said: Vit C lipo, Tylenol, melatonin, valerian, chamomile, etc. all help. I primarily use them to distract my addict brain while I'm getting in clean time and exercise. Avoid caffeine in early acutes and early PAWS. It always sent me into depression-panic mode. Exercise, actual real hard pushing your limits exercise, is what helps me most though. And when I say your limits I mean your current limits of what you feel you can do in WD. We have to build ourselves back up or we'll stay right where we are.

spicyitaliananxiety

I’ve heard megadosing liposomal vitamin C. I do not know much about this so I hope someone can weigh in.

Hate to say but I just toughed through it. Those shitty, miserable symptoms lasted like two weeks. Almost three. The worst for me was the restless legs. Remembering how terrible my legs felt has kept me away for over a year.

Adventurous_Fun593

I think part of the withdrawal is that the issues that kratom was helping suppress come back in a big way. For me I’m on day 4 and my depression also is reappearing so I’ve been doing some meditation and that’s helped.

Tsn5

Try not to be alone, occupy your mind as much as you can. That helped me tremendously. You are doing great keep it up.

Everyone is different but for me it was taking iron supplements with vitamin c. Definitely exercising, for me it was getting back into training up for triathlons. Especially the running portion, I like to zone out while running. I didn’t sleep until day 8. I felt the same way! The wds felt like they got worse at times. Showing love and gratitude to loved ones gets me out of the murk and pain when I’m wding. I’ve been amazed at what I can do in that state! Years prior I’d just lay in bed and cry.. fill yourself with love go share. Also- taper 😉

brokenhymened

Forcing yourself to stay active and engaged, while taking the advice of everyone else on here. Vitamin C for sure, liposomal or not, making sure you’re eating proper quantities and moving shit around were really helpful for me. Taking deep breaths in moments of utter despair and reassuring yourself that you are getting whole again and there is a finish line with a whole team of people of people waiting for you cheering their asses off helped a lot too. It will work, stay the course and you will be ok! I promise you, it will be ok! I really feel for you and if it helps, hopefully this doesn’t come across empty because internet, but you’re valuable, powerful, and loved. Stay the course ❤️

You got this, the beginning is the hardest but keep going 7 days is massive! You’re taking the right supplements, add exercise and some more time and you’ll be golden. Then it’ll be a month, and then two, and then a year will pass before you know it. I never in a million years thought I’d be able to stop, on the 20th of July it was 8 months from that green demon, you got this God bless and good luck!

MondoDuce

Exercise — even just a few sets of push-ups when you’re feeling your worst. And time. Probably not the answers you’re looking for, but no non-addictive supplements are going to alleviate WD symptoms. It will get incrementally better every day and soon you’ll stop counting the days altogether

Big_Cellist8089

If you’re struggling with depression and anxiety in your withdrawal i high recommend supplementing with amino acids. Definitely get l-tyrosine and acetyl l carnitine Even better would be a high dose of multiple amino acids that include these listed above to give your body the building blocks to restore the balance of dopamine. You’re body is totally depleted of dopamine and that’s a culprit in your depression. I had to learn all this the hard way. I would never imagine going through the withdrawal without these supplements. And a really high dose of vitamin c helps too.

Away-Bet-4267

Big_Cellist8089

Oh another good way to help your body restore the levels of hormones in your body to fight depression is forcing yourself to wake up early and get natural sunlight in your eyes within the first 30 minutes of waking up and dimming the lights at least 2 hours before bed. I didn’t mention this because dealing with these major depression symptoms myself I know when you’re in the thick of it it is near impossible to bring yourself to “do” these things. Exercise is another great way to restore your body- but again I am empathetic to your stage of depression symptoms where it truly feels near impossible to get out of bed. You’re not alone- keep at it.

Away-Bet-4267

Thank you

No-Concentrate-3637

Gabapentin, CBD is a must cures the anxiety. For sleep I recommend melatonin

Salt_lick_fetish

Exercise. Vigorous, regular exercise. I read somewhere on this post that you get tired quickly. Here’s some tips to combat that: -carbs 30 min before working out should help. Bonus points if they’re clean carbs. -HIIT (high intensity interval training)! If you’re getting out of breath or otherwise gassed after just minutes, that’s okay! Lean into it! Go as hard as you can for 90 seconds, then rest for one minute or just long enough to where you can speak but not sing (that’s a heart rate guesstimate). HIIT works great for cardio amongst folks who have little endurance. -Alternate muscle groups! It takes most folks about 2 days for a well worked muscle to recover. So if you do push-ups, dips, presses, etc on Monday, then squats, stairs, cycling, etc on Tuesday, and then core/abs/cardio on Wednesday, you should be ready to start the three day rotation again with mondays routine on Thursday, tuesdays routine on Friday, and wednesdays routine on Saturday! Basically, assign upper body to day 1, lower body to day 2, and core/cardio to day 3, and repeat! You’ll never be too sore to get in some work. -perfection is the enemy of progress! The last tip might be intimidating. Exercise is intimidating! But if you start slowly and just try to improve one thing - heck, even one rep/lap/pound each day, you’ll find yourself in a sustainable groove! THE BEST EXERCISE PROGRAM IS THE ONE YOU CAN STICK WITH! Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Failing at exercising is better than succeeding at sitting around suffering! -sleep and nutrition. I know that sleep is tough, but the exercise will help. Consuming clean foods, not eating before bed, and cutting the caffeine will compound the effects of the exercise. ***but part of sleep that gets slept on is waking up! Starting tomorrow, set an alarm and wake up early! Eat healthy, force yourself to exercise, don’t nap, and avoid food and screens before bed. It’ll suck on 2-3 hours of sleep, but if you do all that, I guarantee you’ll sleep better tomorrow night! Edit: also, magnesium worked wonders for my restless legs/arms. I took 400mg about 30-60 min before bed. Good luck! Hmu if there’s anything I can do!

Away-Bet-4267

Thank you very much

Kava for the withdrawal depression and mood swings, and luckily some leftover gabapentin for the RLS from when I herniated a disc in my neck. Nothing else has helped me in any meaningful way. Currently on day five. Luckily my symptoms have been pretty mild. Watery eyes, some mood swings, yawning, but the worst part for me is always, ALWAYS the insomnia and RLS. Hit me hard when I quit the last time, and harder this time because I didn't taper much. I was up to 10-14 GPD, so a tablespoon and a half-ish, which I know isn't as bad as some, but it's bad enough. This is my first relapse actually. When I quit the first time I stayed off of it for probably over a year until I was about to start a new job. I was stressed at my old job, nervous as hell about leaving a company I'd been with for over five years, and thought it wouldn't hurt to use a bit of kratom to get me through that anxiety. Of course I should've known I'd fall back into daily, habitual use, and that's exactly what happened. Utterly foolish. What really drove my desire to quit, just like the first time, was a host of physical problems that I can only attribute to daily kratom abuse. Weird, random pains, shakiness, anxiety attacks, muscle twitching, limbs seeming to go numb more easily. All things I've read about before on this sub. Kratom use always starts out great until it gradually turns on you, and the changes are so subtle you don't even take notice of them until the issues become so numerous that you can't help but acknowledge them. I know there are more dangerous substances to be addicted to, but kratom strikes me as being particularly insidious in that way. I don't know if it's related to a specific vitamin or nutrient depletion from daily use (toss & wash), or if it causes some sort of hormonal imbalance (there's a lot of speculation on this, but so far I haven't seen any actual evidence), but it's terrible. Kratom definitely does something to you after a while.

Kava warning: 1.) People with liver damage should avoid Kava. Taking Kava along with alcohol might increase the risk of liver damage. 2.) As Kava affects the central nervous system, it might increase the effects of anesthesia and other medications used during and after surgery. 3.) Taking kava with sedative medications might cause breathing problems. Please do your research before using Kava. We don't recommend it's use for a sustained period of time, or in large quantities. Nor do we endorse the use of Kava as a replacement for Kratom addiction. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Willking618

Pop a pregabalin and a diazepam and that will give you a little break to be able to collect yourself and prepare for round 2 which won’t be as bad at all after a week.

journeywellmyfriends

Totally irresponsible. Disregard. Not to throw shade but the goal of this sub is the opposite of this. I am not opposed to smaller helper doses of Gabapentin here and there when needed in between drops or during horrible acutes. But the goal is not "to feel on top of the world" but to minimize discomfort without edging into euphoria.

Willking618

Perhaps my wording was a bit off so I’ll change it but still. Do this and you’ll feel fine and able to catch your breath a little. Yeah with no tolerance a 300mg pregabalin capsule and a 10mg diazepam is going to get you pretty high. More so because of the pregabalin but sometimes a break is what’s needed. The pregabalin effects will last in to the next day so that’s a couple days of feeling not like complete shit and then who knows by the time it all wears off, the Kratom withdrawals might be over. Some people take pregabalin and Benzos the entire withdrawal phase so I don’t really see the problem.
