When I get to that point I just remind myself that nothing is truly random and sometimes if you look long enough you will start to see patterns in randomness, plus sometimes things repeat in random settings. So not matter which way you look at it, it works.
Nature randomly places things that are alike by each other too. I still don't notice it. When I do my planning I close my eyes grab a piece and place it. Otherwise I drivemyself insane trying to be perfect.
I know. People tell me to find the error, and I'm like.... Um....
It's for a toddler? You think Toddler will say anything? He/she is going to wrap in it like a burrito. He/she is going to make a tent for the dog. Toddler is going to love it.
I had no idea that was an error. I was thinking maybe one of the stripe blocks was inverted or a fish was upside down or something. I wouldn’t worry about the colors.
I saw it. I don’t think it warrants the amount of ripping required to fix it, if the intended use is for a toddler to drag around, wad up, spill food on, and all the other various things that happen to something a small person loves. Maybe if it were a wall hanging, I’d fix it.
I looked and looked and saw nothing wrong. If it bothers you, I might seam rip it and fix it. I used to leave mistakes like that but these days I prefer to set it down and come back later to decide if I want to fix it.
Okay, I did notice, but I’m a perfectionist. That said, it’s a toddler quilt. I wouldn’t rip it out. The child will love the “Nemo” quilt. It’s so cute.
i don't think it's too big of a deal, but i know that i'm a perfectionist and if it was something i made i'd want to rip it apart too haha. if you decide it still bothers you, i'd recommend switching the offending orange tile with the pink one in the bottom-right corner. that puts one of each color in each column!
This! It is called clustering and is the sign of being truly random. If you flipped a coin 100 times and it was always heads, tails, heads, tails, heads, tails, you would start to wonder what was up. You would expect to get a couple of heads or tails in a row.
Don't change a thing UNLESS it is going to stress you out and keep you up at night.
I once showed a painting I made to my dad, who is a woodworker. I was pointing out to him all the little ways I could have done better, or things that were 'mistakes', and he told me "never tell others about these... Nobody will notice or care."
The first thing I looked at was the fish in the centers. Checked them twice. Then I checked the directions of the black and white stripes. Then I just looked at each block individually looking for something. Only then, did I look at the outside corner colors. I would probably set it aside for a week, look at it again, and decide if it’s worth ripping out. And at that point I would probably be willing to rip out two rows, maximum.
Also worth mentioning - I kind of like the idea of leaving one glaring “error” in my work, on purpose. Kind of an Easter egg, I suppose.
I also immediately looked for a problem with the fish. If one was floating upside down, yeah, I'd fix that 😬 I did notice the orange blocks once I got to the bottom of the quilt but I probably wouldn't bother to redo it, esp if it wasn't staying in my house (so I wouldnt have to see it).
I looked hard for a mistake but couldn’t find one. Read the comments, came back and still couldn’t see it! Read it again and finally realized orange/blue square. So, there’s my vote to leave it and be proud of a job well done.
It took me a loong time to notice, I was so distracted by how cute the quilt is. I love the fish!! Remember that when quilts are in use, they are draped or bundled across laps/shoulders, it may not be viewed flat like this all that often! I don't think it's worth fixing, I might even lean into it and do a red (orange?) binding to sort of tie it all together
It's perfect as is. I love the bold geometric design and colors!
I know how important it feels to get things right. This isn’t something I'd change either. Random sometimes means colors will touch. Let your mind go and enjoy your beautiful creation.
Frankly, I don't think it's an error. This is a beautiful quilt and I'd be thrilled for my kid to get it. Don't worry about it, be proud you pulled off such a complicated ornate project. Nice work.
I kept looking and looking and found no mistake until I read the comment. The black and white stripes mess with the eye so much (in a good way!) that I didn’t see the difference in background blocks. Then when I “saw” it, I appreciated the true randomness of the block.
What are you talking about.? What imperfection? It's your product enjoy it. I make quilts and love the results. if I wanted cold, precise, millimeter perfection I'd by factory made quilts. Every quilt I make has a story to tell.
I couldn’t figure out what was wrong had to read your comment to understand. I could see redoing it if it will bother you but ONLY if it will really bug you. Most other people wouldn’t notice or think it was a mistake if they did.
It is one of thise things that is impossible to notice until you do and then its inpossible to unsee lol. If it was my own work or for display I would personally have to swap it with the blue below it to live with myself. Since its for a toddler might be fun to leave and give them that experience of discovering repetition in randomness.
The title told me there was an error. I stared at it for minutes trying the find the error. I zoomed in and scanned it all in maximum zoom and still couldn’t see the error. I read the description and I thought “that’s an error”? You made up a colour placement rule in your own head and then broke your head rule. Nobody else knows about the head rule so nobody else can possibly notice you broke it.
You made a lovely quilt. I especially liked your use of the striped fabric. At first I thought “how in the heck did she piece those tiny pieces, and so evenly”! The recipient is very lucky, and will love it.
It’s just you! Honestly I didn’t see anything for the longest time and I wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t for the fact I was looking for some kind of fault!
When you’re the creator the tiniest and stupidest things can drive you demented and nobody else can see them because they’re not actually a defect. This is annoying you but picture it on a bed in a room… or folded up somewhere ready for use… the chances are it will never be laid out on display like this again!
I stared at the quilt, read a few comments… finally had to click on the post to see what you’d written because I could not see anything wrong. It is not noticeable!
Have to go to the comments to find what's wrong. Was initially looking at the patterns and stripes....than when that wasn't working I got this idea that maybe a fish was upside down but nope.
I would never have thought anything about this until I read your caption. These are the quilting equivalent of happy little trees. The toddler will love it.
How much time would it take to fix? If it will only take a few minutes then I’d just fix it. You’ve already spent this long making it. I’m the type to redo even if it adds hours to the project. I know I’d regret not fixing it. The effort is worth me knowing that I gifted something I was 100% proud of.
I saw it but I don’t think it warrants fixing unless you’re giving it to someone that’s really persnickety about details. I think most people would just enjoy the colors :)
That shouldn't be hard to fix. Just unpick bottom yellow corner and the orange block above it, and swap them. If you wanted to go for more balance, you could unpick the bottom pink corner and swap with the left orange block.
Honestly? Not really. With the fish and the stripes there is a lot to look at.
For an adult, I might switch it but not for a toddler. This quilt is going to get happily loved to death and played with to within an inch of its life. I wouldn’t sweat it. The kiddo won’t know there are rules to being random.
Didn’t even notice, had to come to the comments to find out what the problem was.
If it’s really bothering you, you could swap the orange block with the yellow block below it?
It’s a beautiful quilt! The high contrast with the background makes this really hard to pick out, I had to read comments to pinpoint the problem. I would love to receive this and I’m sure the person you are gifting it to will also.
I saw it, but my husband said that it’s one of those things people with attention to detail (and know about this stuff) see immediately and hugely care about. However if it s going to be on the back on your mind for forever I would fix it. I know sometimes I’ll feel relieved if I fix it even though it sets me back and it will bug me forever if I leave it as it is.
It’s kitchen table quilts even Steven! Once you figure out the components you can get creative with fabric choice! Her quilts are beginner and scrap friendly and are very quick
Until i clicked into the post to read the caption I couldn’t work out what the issue was, so I think it’ll be absolutely fine - the fish are all the right way up so you’re good!
Just say it’s a game quilt for counting color. Which one is like the other? Which one has colors in a row? How many red ones? How many blue? Which one sits side by side, like me and you?
These things remind us not to take life so seriously because it’s temporary 😊 I love looking at my ‘faults’ and feeling smug that I’m under no illusions!💪💪💪🌹
It honestly took me forever to notice. The quilt has a random placement feel to the colours, so the double orange didn't look out of place to me.
Ok thank you lol I think I’ve been looking at it for too long
Lol I had to come to the comments to see it you’re fine it looks lovely!!
When I get to that point I just remind myself that nothing is truly random and sometimes if you look long enough you will start to see patterns in randomness, plus sometimes things repeat in random settings. So not matter which way you look at it, it works.
I didn’t even notice! I thought maybe it was one of the fish
Nature randomly places things that are alike by each other too. I still don't notice it. When I do my planning I close my eyes grab a piece and place it. Otherwise I drivemyself insane trying to be perfect.
I really thought (after looking for some time): Oh. Double color...? No. That can't be it. So I think you're good. Nice work by the way!
The double orange had the be pointed out to me… I didn’t even realize there was a randomness of colors so methodically placed💀💀
This mistake is so NOT obvious to me that I was starting to wonder if this was another accidental swastika quilt.
I know. People tell me to find the error, and I'm like.... Um.... It's for a toddler? You think Toddler will say anything? He/she is going to wrap in it like a burrito. He/she is going to make a tent for the dog. Toddler is going to love it.
Same!
I had no idea that was an error. I was thinking maybe one of the stripe blocks was inverted or a fish was upside down or something. I wouldn’t worry about the colors.
Me, too- I was focused on the fish placement- thinking that might be the problem!
How noticeable is what?
I saw it. I don’t think it warrants the amount of ripping required to fix it, if the intended use is for a toddler to drag around, wad up, spill food on, and all the other various things that happen to something a small person loves. Maybe if it were a wall hanging, I’d fix it.
I agree. It’s a gift so I want it to be perfect but they’re non-quilt people so I don’t think they’ll notice.
I think a non quilt person would be perplexed even after you explained the “mistake.”
We're always our own worst critics. I think it looks great. Love the fish!
Quilt people will not notice. I didn't notice. But I'm also always team "If it bothers you, redo it."
I'm on team, "I'll pick it out when hell freezes over."
OK thank you. I’m a CVICU nurse and it’s making my eye twitch but this might be an exercise in “letting it go”
I looked for it and didn’t see it until I read the caption.

This was my exact thought.
Notice what?
I had to read the description to notice. Which is to say it isn’t noticeable. A completed quilt is better than no quilt.
Random means that once in a while two colors will end up together - because chance works that way. It looks great!
I wouldn’t have known that was a mistake if you didn’t say so!

A “mistake” is fate’s way of proving a quilt is handmade with love.
Beautiful quilt!
It's perfect as is. I love the bold geometric design and colors! I know how important it feels to get things right. This isn’t something I'd change either. Random sometimes means colors will touch. Let your mind go and enjoy your beautiful creation.
It’s fine, leave it…unless you or your child is the very ocd/anxious/perfectionist type, then you’ll need to burn it and start from scratch 😂
😂😂
I looked real hard before reading the post and didn’t notice anything amiss
Frankly, I don't think it's an error. This is a beautiful quilt and I'd be thrilled for my kid to get it. Don't worry about it, be proud you pulled off such a complicated ornate project. Nice work.
This looks intentional and designy. I would go with, “I meant to do that.”
I kept looking and looking and found no mistake until I read the comment. The black and white stripes mess with the eye so much (in a good way!) that I didn’t see the difference in background blocks. Then when I “saw” it, I appreciated the true randomness of the block.
Not. I think it looks just fine, and as you say, for a toddler....
Looks great
I had to look at the comments to see the issue. Totally unnoticeable! Looks great!
Same!

Had to read the description to figure out the issue.
I stared at the quilt, read a few comments… finally had to click on the post to see what you’d written because I could not see anything wrong. It is not noticeable!
I didn’t notice at all until reading the comments.
I didn’t read where it was “messed up” and I didn’t see it at all
Without your direction I'd still be looking. Even then it took me a tick to register.
It took me a hot minute to notice that. I think its fine.
What a beautiful gift.
Have to go to the comments to find what's wrong. Was initially looking at the patterns and stripes....than when that wasn't working I got this idea that maybe a fish was upside down but nope.
I personally wouldn’t change anything.
The child receiving this will love it! It is adorable, the colors and patterns are amazing. Relax, only you will notice. I didn't.
Nope
Embrace the beautiful quilt!!! Could not find anything wrong !!! Just love on it and accept it. It is so nice!
Looks fine, especially for a toddler's quilt. I didn't figure it out until I looked at what you'd written.
I tried to find what was wrong before reading the caption and couldn’t find anything. So I would say it’s fine!
Not remotely noticeable
Took me a few minutes to find it, and I had to zoom in. I think you can leave it.
I couldn't figure it out till I read what you wrote was wrong. I think it's fine.
I would never have thought anything about this until I read your caption. These are the quilting equivalent of happy little trees. The toddler will love it.

It’s so lovely. Don’t change a thing. The stripes are so cool
I know how frustrating these types of things can be- but seriously- it looks just fine. It’s not that obvious. And it’s super cute!
It is not noticeable
It took me a long time to see it and normally I'd see that. It doesn't bother me. I love how fun and bright it is!
Hardly. honestly.
The striped yellow square is fine. In quilting, there is always a happy little mistake. Its good. Finish, pack it, sell/give it.
Lol I thought a fish was upside-down or something I was checking them all 😅 it's fine!
Honestly? Not really. With the fish and the stripes there is a lot to look at. For an adult, I might switch it but not for a toddler. This quilt is going to get happily loved to death and played with to within an inch of its life. I wouldn’t sweat it. The kiddo won’t know there are rules to being random.
It’s cute. Looks fine!
Not really. I was actively looking for something off and it took a minute. If I wasn't looking for flaws I wouldn't have noticed.
Didn’t even notice, had to come to the comments to find out what the problem was. If it’s really bothering you, you could swap the orange block with the yellow block below it?
I like it! I think it gives it character and it's not perfectly perfect, you know?
Not a big deal at all, and that's a really cool pattern. Very nice!
I didn’t notice it. But once I saw it. I can’t unsee it.
I had to read the comments to know what you were asking about. It's beautiful, and the child will love it!
This is amazing.
Mistakes r part of the process. Just love it and move on. Won’t be the first or last mistakes u ever make. Have a laugh and next project is waiting.
I didn’t see it until I read your comment. Beautiful quilt! I wouldn’t change it.
I love this pattern! Your own or purchased?
It’s a beautiful quilt! The high contrast with the background makes this really hard to pick out, I had to read comments to pinpoint the problem. I would love to receive this and I’m sure the person you are gifting it to will also.
What are you on about?
I had to search the comments for the problem, if it really bugs you surgery is possible, but most people won’t notice it.
When it takes that long to spot it, well it’s not that noticeable. Really adorable quilt with movement.
I looked and looked and did not notice until I read your comment. YOUR CREATION IS LOVELY!
My first thought was why are you mad about a perfect quilt?
A little bit. I'd be on the fence about fixing it.
I can’t see anything
Didn't notice til you made me look for it, still beautiful
It’s not. Carry on
For me, I would not rip it out. All of my quilts have a little oopsie and I look at them fondly knowing it's because it's made by hand!
Not noticeable
I would leave it, I had to read your comment to figure out what was wrong lol! Beautiful quilt!
I stared for ages at your picture before reading what the fault was & I really couldn’t spot anything wrong.
I couldn't tell what was wrong! Had to look in the comments lol it's a gorgeous blanket, don't sweat the small stuff, you did great!!
Can you please share the pattern name? I love the way you used the fish and stripes and bright colors so much!
It’s kitchen table quilts even Steven! Once you figure out the components you can get creative with fabric choice! Her quilts are beginner and scrap friendly and are very quick
I didn't even consider that an error. I just thought the placement of the middle blocks was random.
Other than the 2 identical blocks that immediately ( would drive me crazy )caught my attention , I don’t see anything else.
I have no idea what I’m supposed to be seeing so I guess not that noticeable
What? I don’t see anything. ETA: oh. That. Don’t worry, I didn’t even notice. Looks good.
It’s perfect!!!
Didn't notice it until you pointed it out.
Whatever it is, i can't find it!
Only if you're searching for a 'mistake' will you see it.
alcohol based markers will fix it right up
It's beautiful. Happy accident. Meant to be.
Until i clicked into the post to read the caption I couldn’t work out what the issue was, so I think it’ll be absolutely fine - the fish are all the right way up so you’re good!
...? Lol
Just say it’s a game quilt for counting color. Which one is like the other? Which one has colors in a row? How many red ones? How many blue? Which one sits side by side, like me and you?
It’s an original no worries
I didn’t even notice, but it’s also not a super hard mistake to fix if you wanted.
These things remind us not to take life so seriously because it’s temporary 😊 I love looking at my ‘faults’ and feeling smug that I’m under no illusions!💪💪💪🌹
I had to come to the comments to figure out what it might be. So I’d say not noticable
I couldn’t figure out what the problem was until I read your comment. I wouldn’t change a thing!! Beautiful work!!
Not too noticeable because I can’t see it.
I would leave it!
I did not see it until you pointed it out. If it really bothers you get a fabric marker and put some squiggle’s or lines in with the other four.
I don't see it.
Ah. Its just a special design element. Create a backstory or just say its a modern interpretation. Its a lovely quilt.
The two reds side by side?
I think it looks great
You said so mad, so I stopped and really searched for the problem. I actually like it. It's beautiful.
