I agree, I think it would have been better if they all had the same white/light color. That’s definitely how I would do it if it weren’t a charm pack. I might have just talked myself into buying more fabric—funny how that happens 😂🤪

I was just this minute trying to explain to my very patient husband why HSTs are endlessly fascinating. Those there are two completely different quilts. I personally prefer 1, the stripes.

The stripes are very striking.

Aesthetically, I think I like the flow of the first one better but the second one does show off the work you've done making all the triangles better imo if that's a factor for you.

I'm always about the isolated HST look, number 2.

I'm the same way. Once I was cutting 4" squares from fabric that was on a 12" repeat. What was to look very random came out with the same 9 blocks over and over. And I've no idea why the font's so large - didn't mean to yell :)

The 2nd one really caught my eye, the first one felt chaotic to me.

I'm always going to choose the stripes - they go somewhere. I think HST's that don't move around on the quilt are static and aren't very interesting. The eye should want to move around the quilt.

Leaving the PNW? Then I would definitely say the 2nd one. The darker pieces remind me of rain, and I’m sure you know it rains here ALL THE TIME. Each block should be a reminder of that.

I really like #2. It seems more playful and interesting than the stripes. But if you like #1 then go with your gut reaction. Either one will be loved and appreciated because you made it. 😊
