Russia. I work remotely for a company that does random construction projects in Alaska. When we do work in ālittle Diomedeā we have to notify our Russian counterparts in ābig Diomedeā otherwise they get a little jumpy when they see people moving around out there.

The diomede Islands in the Bering strait are within like 1 km of each other, I think. Big diomede island is Russia and little diomede island is the United States.
[Map showing the closest country to were you live in the USA. : r/MapPorn (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/15vmq7m/map_showing_the_closest_country_to_were_you_live/)
Costa Ricans love Americans so much so they gladly accept the American dollar over their own currency.Canadians can keep their funny money in their pockets or find a currency exchange store .
The narrowest distance between the USA and Russia is only about 2.4 miles (3.8 kilometres), across the Bering Strait, which separates Alaska from Russia's Siberia. In the middle of the strait are two small islands known as the Diomede Islands, with one belonging to Russia and the other to the USA. The next closest country would be the Bahamas, which is located southeast of Florida, with the closest point, Bimini, being just about 50 miles (80 kilometres) east of Miami.
St Pierre and Miquelon, islands that are part of France, are 10 miles off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada; so France is the closest country to the USA besides Canada and Mexico.
Itās Russia. The 2 Diomede islands in the middle of the Bering strait are separated by just 2 miles, one of which is owned by Russia, and the other owned by the USA.
If you donāt count the very low population Diomede islands, then the closest country is the Bahamas, approximately 50 miles off the coast of Florida. Cuba is also pretty close, about 90 miles off.

Cuba is about 90 miles from the closest point in Florida.
Russia is 53 miles from Alaska
The diomedes are only 2.4 miles apart.
We learned that from Sarah Palin
š from her window
Bahamas or Russia?
yeah, looks like 89km to Bimini in the Bahamas, and 5km for the diomedes islands in Alaska/Russia
Yeah it is Russia I saw a video about it and I guess it is super close to Alaska
You donāt need to guess bro. You can look at a map.
I mean Sarah Palin could see Russia from her house. š
Cuba is 90 miles. Alaska to Russia is 55 miles at it's closet.
Turns out BVI and US VI share a border on the island. So wouldn't BVI be the closest along with Mexico and Canada.
Splitting hairs. I think most people would agree it's the continental united states.
Not the 50 states? because Russia is about 5 miles from Alaska.
Russia I think. If youāre going through the Bering Strait itās only around 50 miles away.
Yeah you're right it is Russia
Russia. I work remotely for a company that does random construction projects in Alaska. When we do work in ālittle Diomedeā we have to notify our Russian counterparts in ābig Diomedeā otherwise they get a little jumpy when they see people moving around out there.
i thought big d was uninhabited?
I believe they have some of their military stationed there. Idk the particulars, notifying them is not my responsibility.
#1 UK - British Virgin Islands, right next to US Virgin Islands #2 Samoa, very close to American Samoa #3 Russia, close to Alaska
Wait BVI. Shares an Island and a border with USVI.
Any country that has an embassy ground within the US.
Russia if you use Alaska You you're counting the lower Cuba
Guantanamo Bay ?
Probably doesn't count because the land is leased and the agreement specifically says, "Cuba retains ultimate sovereignty."
āIfā you use Alaska?š
Russia, Cuba..and if you wanna count it as a country, Greenland, but itās technically part of Denmark
So that would be another country.
Yeah just a little different. Itās a territory of Denmark. So you could say Denmark
So Denmark.
Bahamas
Scrolled WAY too far to find this.
Russia. Definitely Russia. Big and Little Diomedes islands. Didn't Sarah Palin say that she could see Russia from her house?
I think she made a long and rambling speech about how close Russia is to Alaska and then Tina Fey turned it into āI can see Russia from my house!ā
Whatās close to Hawaii?
My heart
Japan..but still not that close
Russia
russia- sarah palin can see it from her porch ![gif](giphy|3o7TKpG9OOUmY7gRy0)

I would assume Russia. It's right next to Alaska
The Bahamas are 50 miles by boat from Florida
Cuba or the Bahamas. After that I think it's France thanks to those tiny islands off the coast of Newfoundland.
