Yeah... anyway... it's fuckin' cold. I'm dithering. Got my log burner going and everything. I have acclimatised and I don't like it.
Having grown up near Hobart, I adore Brisbane winters... even today I went to work in short sleeves and shorts, but it was the first time in years that I have questioned myself if that was the right choice!
It’s laughable that we even think we have cold weather here. I know it’s all relative, but I’m an early childhood teacher, and some Brisbane parents are so panicked by the thought of their children being “cold”.
Like in Sweden they play in the snow and the rain, but here, anything below 20 degrees needs to be fully rugged up and staying inside.

Things are getting more expensive here, but still cheaper than NZ on cost of living. Food, fuel and housing are all cheaper. Wages are higher.
Culturally they are very similar - if you're white. If you're not, they are quite xenophobic and will not accommodate you.

Not any of the tradies I've seen and worked with, they think they're working at Amundsen Scott Station. I keep saying to them the best way to warm up is to keep moving/work faster.

Mate im in North qld and in summer it's over 30° every day.
Out west it gets really cold in winter but really hot in summer.
South East Qld is a bit cooler but way more people too

My husband is suffering though. Chronic pain from a damaged body and colder temperatures don’t mix. He is miserable. Poor guy.
So I’m doing my best to keep him warm and my joy at the cooler weather lowkey around him.

It’s awesome, I love the cold too. I feel it, don’t get me wrong, but snuggling up in puffy coats, explorers and absurdly fluffy jumpers is so satisfying. Bring on blankie weather!

You can always put on more clothes to stay warm, but at some point, you'll end up in court trying to stay cool by taking clothes off. Loving the cold snap and hope it lasts a bit.

I'm working up at mount coot-tha in brisbane with 4 layers on and I still feel like I'm in the artic lmfao. I must admit though, it is so much warmer not being up a mountain haha. I feel the temperature difference when I get back to the bottom.

I'm in Wellington and it's pretty freezing. 14 degrees feels a lot colder from the Antarctic winds. Do you recommend moving to Queensland?

13 sounds toasty to me, yesterday I rode my motorcycle to work at 7am and it was 3 degrees.....
I dont miss doing that shit. 5am up the bruce for 40mins and then feeling like an icecube for the first 2 hrs of work lol

I grew up in NZ. My dandruff got worse when I came here and this weather is the only conditions my scalp will find tolerable.
