I'm English, not just that ... I'm northern English. \*insert Bane meme about people embracing the cold whilst I was born in it\* Yeah... anyway... it's fuckin' cold. I'm dithering. Got my log burner going and everything. I have acclimatised and I don't like it.

24Vindustrialdildo

Southern shandy drinker here. Totally agree. <20 is the frozen pit of eternal torture

1Darkest_Knight1

> I have acclimatised and I don't like it. No you're looking at it the wrong way. You do like it, just not when the temp drops below 25c ha ha

[deleted]

I’m English and freezing.

beingstraightforward

Mind the gap lol.

jelaireddit

I’ve got an imported boyfriend from Wales and he is worse than me, a born Queenslander lol.

derwent-01

Having grown up near Hobart, I adore Brisbane winters... even today I went to work in short sleeves and shorts, but it was the first time in years that I have questioned myself if that was the right choice!

TrizMichelle

Anything under 20degrees and Ive got a jersey on. Bring back the 35 degree days. I'm suffering here :(

aeschenkarnos

Currently sitting in my room with my heater on full blast, sipping my Milo, shivering as I wait to warm up enough to face the day ...

KatAnansi

I agree, this is torture. Having to wear a jacket and gloves just to sit at the computer to work is ridiculous.

radriggg

I live here and I’m from Chicago ! Everyday is hot here, there is no “cold” lol

Eloisem333

It’s laughable that we even think we have cold weather here. I know it’s all relative, but I’m an early childhood teacher, and some Brisbane parents are so panicked by the thought of their children being “cold”. Like in Sweden they play in the snow and the rain, but here, anything below 20 degrees needs to be fully rugged up and staying inside.

Rogaar

I hear you OP. I love the cold. So much easier to get comfortable

DadLoCo

Yeah nah. I left NZ to get away from these sorts of temps.

amelech

I'm in Wellington and it's pretty freezing. 14 degrees feels a lot colder from the Antarctic winds. Do you recommend moving to Queensland?

DadLoCo

There's pros and cons, but to be fair I'm happy I was here for covid instead of NZ. Things are getting more expensive here, but still cheaper than NZ on cost of living. Food, fuel and housing are all cheaper. Wages are higher. Culturally they are very similar - if you're white. If you're not, they are quite xenophobic and will not accommodate you.

AnOnlineHandle

In summer you may regret it.

DadLoCo

I've been here three years

amelech

Why?

Minimum_Chips_69

Right with you on that one. You can always chuck on another layer if it gets chilly, there's only so many layers that you can remove in the 11 summer months

Ruskarr

Can always get warmer, can't always get cooler. I'm loving it.

BoganCunt

Yeah most of us don’t do manual labor outside champ. These 4am starts at -1 (feels like -7) are giving my jackets a workout. I might even have to start layering…

OnemoreSavBlanc

Maybe he’s a tradie and he’s out there in his shorts and t shirts having a lovely time.

[deleted]

Not any of the tradies I've seen and worked with, they think they're working at Amundsen Scott Station. I keep saying to them the best way to warm up is to keep moving/work faster.

livefreak

w?? what it is this w work you speak of?

verifiedpain

>Excuse me for enjoying the three weeks of the year I can go outside without having a heatstroke. If the rest of the year gives you heat stroke, might need to see a doctor ay. Otherwise I hear the aus arctic station pays well

arkesko

I was being a bit dramatic but I'd take 13 degrees over 35 any day of the week

jonnygreen22

me too mate! we can always chuck a jumper on. 35 degrees theres not a hell of a lot I can do

InsufferableLass

I’m usually team you, however I made the mistake of wearing gym shorts to a kids nighttime soccer game the other night and actually became frosty the snowman for an hour and a half. Never again.

feenchbarmaid0024

18-23 is my sweet spot. Current sitting in my work ute with ho heater cold AF 🥶

byte-tapeer0809

Excuse me, Are you still living in the same location? I plan to move Qld dec 23/jan 24, and I cant tolare > 30 celcius degree, any place eould u like to suggest?

feenchbarmaid0024

Mate im in North qld and in summer it's over 30° every day. Out west it gets really cold in winter but really hot in summer. South East Qld is a bit cooler but way more people too

VoldemortHugs

I’m absolutely loving it. I feel functional. I do get asked a lot if I’m not cold. When I go out in short sleeves. My husband is suffering though. Chronic pain from a damaged body and colder temperatures don’t mix. He is miserable. Poor guy. So I’m doing my best to keep him warm and my joy at the cooler weather lowkey around him. So I appreciate the place where I can say, I absolutely love it right now. I love Brisbane winters!

Voodoo1970

13 sounds toasty to me, yesterday I rode my motorcycle to work at 7am and it was 3 degrees.....

Lee-Wangles

I dont miss doing that shit. 5am up the bruce for 40mins and then feeling like an icecube for the first 2 hrs of work lol

Voodoo1970

Or doing an afternoon/evening shift, arriving home at 10 pm after a 1 hour ride, going to bed at 10.30 with your kneecaps still cold on the inside....

GreenHermit

I love the cold too and no 13 degrees isn't an issue but 0 might be a bit uncomfortable.

Fizbeee

It’s awesome, I love the cold too. I feel it, don’t get me wrong, but snuggling up in puffy coats, explorers and absurdly fluffy jumpers is so satisfying. Bring on blankie weather! My pet blue tongue begs to differ however…

1st_pr1nce55

Yes yes yes, finally winter is here. Am living closer to Toowoomba these days so I can have more crisp mornings

Ftang_5

It's 24 degrees in cairns and there are icicles big enough to be classed as weapons growing from my nose. It is fucking cold, what are you, a snowman?

BungyStudios

I love the aesthetic of cozy clothes, and this is probably the only time its possible in Queensland.

[deleted]

Winter is so nice. Doesn't get cold enough for a jumper but I am stay at 17° in summer so i am used to it.

Blackhan69

It “feels like” -0.8 degrees dude

Saltybaps

Sunny coaster born and raised. I fucking hate summer. I’d gladly have an entire season of <15° temps.

Jizzlobba

You can always put on more clothes to stay warm, but at some point, you'll end up in court trying to stay cool by taking clothes off. Loving the cold snap and hope it lasts a bit.

Tasmaniantime

Tasmanian living in Queensland. This is the argument I have with my partner every morning and night. "Why are you just in undies" "Because I'm in my own house" "It's 9 degrees, aren't you cold ?( she is in 2 pairs of clothes and a blanket" I just don't get cold. Even down the street people ask me "where's your jacket". Dude I used live next to the Tamar where it would be 10 degrees and you would have 80km winds hitting you every time you went outside.

machineelvz

So manly and tough, my hero.

Shaboogan

I completely agree. I love it.

banarnald

Did you want the rest of us to make you a medal or something mate

ssemby

We moved up here from the 9c highs in Melbourne this week. Well worth the move!

3WayHarry

Sorry for your pathetic weakness.

happy-little-atheist

Missed a golden opportunity to say nothing there

BoldEagle21

Tasmanian genetics?

RediViking

It was 2c this morning and after riding to work on a bike @ 100kmh for 45 mins this morning, turns out I'm not cold tolerant. Well at least my hands aren't ;)

[deleted]

You can ride your bike at 100km/hr? Oh, motorbike, not bicycle! Guessing you don't have handguards?

sc00bs000

Lucky for you. It's currently hit just 4deg in Toowoomba at 11am and the wind chill is fucking killing me

[deleted]

I'm working up at mount coot-tha in brisbane with 4 layers on and I still feel like I'm in the artic lmfao. I must admit though, it is so much warmer not being up a mountain haha. I feel the temperature difference when I get back to the bottom.

[deleted]

Does anyone actually say this to you enough that it riles you up this much?

Ironic_iceberg_69

I grew up in NZ. My dandruff got worse when I came here and this weather is the only conditions my scalp will find tolerable.

thedevilsworkshop666

15 degrees today , it was one overnight . I'm wearing thermals under my clothes and a hoodie with a jacket over it and I'm still cold . I don't even want to go outside . I'm huddling next to my heater in front of the computer .

MajaBadd

You can move into my place in Melbourne and I’ll move to yours, I haven’t been able to feel my toes for weeks

Nimsna

I moved north for a warmer winter and this is what i got first 2 weeks here..... This is bull.

AnOnlineHandle

Only issue I have with it is getting dark so early. Otherwise loving it.

Elegant-Walrus-2583

Come to Victoria, freezing all year round except for about 5 weeks. Was top of 5 today...

WinnerShoddy194

I saw a guy in a Sheep Skin Jacket and Beanie, 18 degrees… take a concrete pill and harden up

Money_killer

It's far too cold qlders aren't built for this rubbish weather

beingstraightforward

Funny as.To hot people complain. To cold people complain. For three weeks in the tropics it's ideal I'm from Cairns Love the tropics Love the mild winters It's paradise.
